[PX3/PX5/PX6] - Create Generic Android Car installation for all cars - Android Head-Units

Hello
I'm new to both the forum and the Android Auto section.
I acquired an Android system for my 2010 Volvo XC60 (without original multimedia equipment) on a well-known Chinese site, and after delivery, I encountered some problems on the interface part with the car (as much with the controls at flying than the air conditioning part): Nothing works. After a few exchanges with the seller, I was just able to get a partial refund.
But I wish I could have this fully functional system in my vehicle.
I have been looking for a solution to my needs for a few days, here and elsewhere.
And I realize that the installation in a Volvo is not supported by most PX3/PX5 supplier. The mechanical part is not compatible with Android 2 DIN autoradios.
So, after some research, I wonder if it is possible to leave on a motherboard basis PX3/PX5/PX6 depending on size or other, and to add a touch screen (in my case the one present on my Chinese system).
I had in mind - a motherboard based on RK3399 ("pcb pcba assembly custom solution RK3399 motherboard for vehicle" on Alibaba). But the question is how do I make the connection to CAN BUS and its decoding?
Do I have to put a set-top box? Is decoding done by the software part?
My idea is to make a system based on Android standards (9.0 preferably) that could finally fit into any vehicle (will remain as the mechanical installation part)
Could someone help me on this topic/this idea?

Google can really mess up a translation  So if I get this right you're saying the Steering Wheel Controls and the HVAC don't work and the Head Unit doesn't fit in a 2DIN opening.
The SWC and HVAC are controlled through the CAN Bus they should have supplied you with a box specific for your car. You can buy a box from somewhere else but it has to be made for your car and the HU has to have support for your car. The CANbus decoder talks to the HU through the MCU. That's a controller board inside the HU that interfaces the real world with Android (the SOM or what you call the motherboard). Yes there are 2 separate boards and they need to connect together can you see where that's going
The HU not fitting is hard to understand you're gonna have to explain that better or take some pictures.

Hello
Thank you for your reply: Indeed automatic translators often complicate things.
To return to my problem, there are actually two things or possibilities:
1. Run the kit I bought
2. Creating a new solution
My needs:
- An Android interface for my car (Volvo XC60 2010 without Sensus/Multimedia screen) with touch screen
- Have functional steering controls
- If possible performing (start-up and GPS)
Initial situation:
This not allow me to use standard 2 DIN HU
1. DO WORK THE KIT I BUY:
The kit in question:
there is a CANBUS case:
I think, like you, that the problem revolves around the decoding of CANBUS. But I don't know how to solve it or even analyze it.
2. MOUNT A NEW SOLUTION:
What I know I need:
Android motherboard (SOM)
CANBUS decoder
Screen (or use of the one I have)
The necessary connectors
But the I do not know what to take as SOM ... and where to find a CANBUS set-top box for my 2010 Volvo XC60?
I would like to build a solution not for my car, to allow other people to use it, by customing mecanical integration (Screen, etc...)
Many thanks for you help you can bring me,
Bertrand.

So just for the heck of it I did a little research, checked out the wiring diagrams for that car and dug a bit into what I found. Turns out your SWC buttons are digital and transmit to the HU through the LIN bus not CAN bus. The climate controls are on that same bus. Everything on the LIN bus goes to a central module and is sent out to the other modules. The CAN bus also goes to that module but the 2 buses stay separate. Just to make matters more interesting it looks like they use LIN-DC to connect to the HU.
All this means is it's likely the CANbus box they gave you can't even read the commands to the HU and climate control. That would also explain why there are so few manufacturers even selling Volvo specific HU anymore. I checked Ownice and they only mention Bluetooth SWC for that car. Seicane says their HU will retain the car's SWC maybe you can get in touch with them and see if they will sell you their CANbus decoder or at least tell you the part number so you can compare with yours.
Something I overlooked, I don't know how you would do it on your HU but get into the secret menu (usually type a code like 126 while in settings) then type logcan or is it canlog and push the buttons. If there is communication you should see something in the log (you'll have to search the site for info relating to this stuff).
Sounds like a whole can of hurt trying to create a generic system like you suggest at least in your case. Others have already done it you can follow where this link leads to know more.

Hello
First at all, a big thank you for the research done and the explanations (complicated to understand for me )
From what I understood I have to find a way to interface the LIN bus with my Android HU? Right?
From this link, I can read the information of the LIN bus from an Arduino. The question is how can I figure out how to interface my HU with the Arduino? Do you have any information about the link with the HU (CAN BUS or other)?
Link:
(Sorry for format I can't publish link )
The use of a product already manufactured is relatively expensive:
Regarding the secret menu, I have access via a code to the HU configuration menu:
And finally, my idea of a generic system is to decorate the "UC" and "display" to allow for easier physical integration. I could then use any touch screen size and put the "UC" elsewhere in the vehicle. the interconnection between the "UC" and the "display" would be on a more robust connector (HMDI, DisplayPort, etc...)
Another advantage, the screen could be more "fine" than those offered by dealers and better integrate into cars.
That's why I'm looking for a PX3/PX5/PX6 card without a screen.
NB: I found with the file explorer an interesting log file
Thanking you again.
Bertrand.

This is interesting I know the SWC work on BMW and Audi so it probably means that the decoder they gave you can read the LINbus. In the Learning Touch Button screen use the export option to backup the configuration then try the different car types. It might be good to reboot each time and typing this code hctreboot where you type the factory menu secret code might work faster. You can see if there's anything coming through the CANbus by typing canlog instead of the factory menu secret code. It might just be you need to re-learn the keys.

Hello
The problem is that the HU does not detect the connection to the vehicle:
So I'm a little limited on this side to do the analyses.
I'm going 3 weeks on vacation, I couldn't respond too much to this thread during this time, but I'll still try to make the configuration changes in the hidden menu, including the model.
On the other hand, I was wondering if with the LOG transmitted, I could update the Android ROM part?
Thanks in advance,
Bertrand.

Hello
After a well-deserved return from vacation, here I am again!!
With lots of ideas, and especially lots of questions....
1. From the photos, can I put a PX6 in place of the original PX3? (there are Main unit pictures, and CAN BUS picture, if anyone know how to connect to car, for checking error message, etc...)
2. If I put a PX6, how do I install it? via the USB port? knowing I'm on a Chinese make.
3. More complicated: If I realize an interface with an Ardouino for the LIN BUS of my Volvo, could someone help me know how to "inject" the information of the steering wheel controls into the PX3? Is there a standard or something?
Thank you in advance,
Bertrand

Where do you get px6 board?

How did you get inside the “secret” menú?
I soul de like to change mine’s UI after a factory reset....
Thank you!

There are models available from Navitech which handle everything. For the XC60 2011 to 2014 they require that you leave the CPU for the Sensus Display in the car and they interface with that. I assume it is so they can get to the linbus data.
Oddly for 2009-2010 they say that the HVAC info will continue to show on LCD display on top of dash (original monitor). So I'm not sure why your HVAC information is not showing up on the original monitor. Is it possible to leave original CPU for Sensus display in your car?
Check out the Navitech 8.8inch RAM4GROM64G Android 9.0 PX6 on AliExpress.
Items not supported by the Navitech unit: Note:For our head unit, do not support like below: iPod, original car GPS antenna, original car back up rear camera, original car bluetooth, original car USB as well original car Microphone.
I am about to buy one of these for my 2013 XC60

Has anyone on this thread successfully rooted one of these Volvo PX6 MCU devices? Or have the Stock MCU file to restore from incase of a brick.

I have PX6 for Volvo XC60. Here is access to "secret menu": Settings---factory setting---password 1314

Android 9.1 Stereo issues.. Need advice or firmware update to resolve?

Hello to all you wonderful people
Firstly thank you for taking the time to read and potentially help me resolve this issues. Here are the issues I am experiencing.
Vehicle 2006 X5 BMW 4.4i E53 (No hating on please I already know)
Unit 9"inch Chinese made Android 9.1 firmware. Not connected to aftermarket amplifier and no RCA Audio connect)
Android YT9213A_00009_V001_20200312
Android os 9.1 XY Auto:3.2 (8227L)
Can Pro 3.0 (8227L)
Cpu A7 1.3Hz x 4
MCU 3.1 (8227L)
1. Unit only produces sound when using the Radio (Front speakers only and No fade ability, left right or EQ)
2. I have set the Canbus to BMW but Steering Wheel Button Mapping is non functioning or recognising.
3. Updated software via units button and Wi-fi and still no change
4. Vehicle has a DSP amplifier aka Splits 2 channel signal into 6 channels
5. Has Bluetooth connectivity but does not pick up sound when on a call from within the car nor produces any sound when playing music tracks or video.
6. Struggles to play movie files (Wondering if it is just a file type issue - I use "mkv" file types normally "VLC player" )
7. Google maps produces no street name data and only shows directional lines and no turn information vocally.
Please note that the company I bought this off no longer replies to emails and wont engage in any form of help..
I am hoping that a raw firmware update to Android 10 or similar will fix most /all of these issues...if so I would need a link to the firmware file please - Plus if advised that RCA connects are the answer to the Sound issues maybe the answer.
If anyone has any advice I would be greatly appreciated

If your BMW is anything like my jeep then number 4 is your problem. You have the factory premium sound (factory dsp amp)
Your factory amp only uses 2 channels from your android unit. You can not control fade because your android unit can not control the Can Bus fade system in your factory amp. You can't hear Bluetooth, or navigation info because the 2 channels from the android unit which are connected to the factory dsp are the REAR channels and meanwhile all bluetooth and nav information is fed through the FRONT channels on the android unit. You can correct this by switching the front channels with the rear channels on the android unit.
You will still not be able to correct fade though. What you can TRY though is going into the FACTORY SETTINGS on the android and make sure you have AMPLIFIER turned on. If your android machine is 'smart enough' then it will understand that your dsp fade needs to be controlled through CAN Bus.
If you ordered the factory specific android unit for your bmw, your steering wheel buttons SHOULD work, but you will not be able to remap them.
The cpu that you have in that machine is not really strong enough to handle mkv files. You should convert to a simpler format if you want to play video on that machine.

Hi new member. Welcome, suggest taking the time to learn the basics of Chinese Android head units, there are alot of informative posts and a wiki for MTCx units.
As your unit is not an MTCD, I have requested a mod moves it to the appropriate Android head units forum.

Hey
I also have X5, but lucky for me - w/o DSP and NAVI. So every generic head unit works for me fine
But according to your problem.. unfortunately what Bob_sanders says is true and problem is DSP.
To allow your head unit handle DPS you need to buy additional I-BUS interface (which you connect using USB and soldering few wires) and download application.
You can read more in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/discussion-unofficial-bmw-i-bus-app.4077697/
Not sure if buying license is necessary to enable DSP, so you may check it before you buy.
But for sure updating Android version won't help - you have to use this I-bus thingy.
edit. same thing applies to steering wheel control - command are sent using I-bus (instead of CAN) and i-bus interface is needed to handle them.
But AFAIK you won't be able to do a custom mapping. They will work only like BMW designed it.
Custom mapping is only available to resistive-based SWC controls, which are connected to KEY 1 & 2 wires in head unit harness.

Hi Wotii098
I have found an answer to the problem and it is a super simple one...
So apparently the power antenna wire is the answer... So the issue goes without the activation of that wire the unit thinks there is no antenna and will not go any further with sound and will only produce basic Radio audio... So what you need to do is attach the "BLUE" Ant wire (Pin No.12) to the Yellow power wire and this will instantly fix the issue.. Spread the word my brethren and thank you for your response.

HUH?
Sorry... I'm not sure what you did or the problem you were having but the blue antenna wire is just an antenna trigger wire which OUTPUTS a voltage. There is no "activation" of that wire and nothing on that wire to sense any connection. It simply outputs a voltage to trigger a power antenna. If you do not have a power antenna then DO NOT connect it to anything.
It is NOT advised that you connect that wire to the yellow 12 volt constant voltage wire. That is NOT what it is for, and you may damage your machine in the end.

Arrr But that's the thing.. it's a trigger wire that the unit uses to trigger the DSP Amp that everything is active and to open up the signal to the amp.
Well not the best and actual scientific/electrical way of putting it... but it worked and fixed most of my issues.. I've only got one issues left which is the steering wheel button mapping which doesn't work. Which could be the actual buttons/assembly as I did not test them when I bought the SUV, because the stereo's screen was dead.
Either way I hope this helps someone who is having the same issue as me for a 2005/6 model BMW X5 or any other car/suv/truck with the same issue.
Give it a try if you are having this problem Bob.. can't hurt.. Didn't hurt my unit..
Here is a Youtube link to the video I found that solved the issue:

No. It is a trigger wire for your Antenna. That's precisely why it shuts down when you turn the radio off. Your power antenna is no longer needed because you are not listening to the radio anymore, so it retracts back down into the vehicle.
What you are doing when you connect to the yellow is feeding a REVERSE voltage through a circuit which was designed to PRODUCE a voltage, not receive one. You risk damage to your machine by doing so.
If you are having problems keeping your dsp alive then you have wired something wrong. I don't know what head unit you have but all the ones I know of have a separate "AMP" wire which is used to trigger the amp/dsp. It stays on at any time the head unit is on.

CAN bus question

Is there a way to modify CAN bus module? My car’s clock used to work with OEM HU but after switching to Android the clock stopped working, is there a way to modify CAN bus functionality so i can get it to display the clock from HU to car’s Clock area.
It might help to name the exact head unit, the exact car model, and the brand of the CAN.
headunit is: Joying - JY-HQ148N4GN
Canbus Type is LZ(HZ) - LZ2012
MH: 20200819
For Spirior+AMP
HW: V3 - SW: V4
car is Honda Accord CU2 8th Gen/ Acura TsX / Honda Spirior 2009
this is where normally the clock appears. The headunit gives information like Volume and Current mode but not giving clock on this screen.

Without seeing the wiring schematics, I would first check the power cable to the radio. Get a multimeter and check that it has power.
You haven't explained if the clock ever worked whilst you have your new radio installed or not.
If it used to work with your new radio, what did you change in the timesleading up to the clock not working?
If the clock never worked, what makes you think it is the CAN causing the lack of power? CAN usually runs command. I would have thought that the clock - if it is only a clock - only needs a 12 v power and ground and that it was otherwise self sufficient.
CAn you enlighten us a little more about the clock?
The clock was powered by the OEM HU.
I bought the Prelingcar Android (in the photo attached above) HU that came with a Can bus, for the first few days i did not connect the Can bus and the clock was not appearing at all, after connecting the Can bus the clock started to appear but after few weeks of use the HU wasn’t working as expected so i returned it. This is how i know that Can bus was powering the clock again.
Now i bought a Joying HU that also comes with Can bus. But it is not displaying the clock. It can show volume info/ mode info on the same screen and if i disconnect the can bus that volume info and mode info disappears so can bus is showing some bit of info there.
i want to know if there is any way to modify the Can bus.

I don't think so.
It is all embedded code in some chip.
All those Chinese builders/resellers use 5~6 brands of canbus controllers. Some of them are one-directional, some are bidirectional also allowing you to control airco/heating from your module.
You need to know which binary code is used to tranfers the time, and then how to upload it in your chip. I know that some users modify them using an Arduino (if that means something to you.)
But did you ask Joying already? [email protected]
They might have an aswer, or if you have the Honda Can bus specifics, you might send those to them (but I don't think that will help)
Yes i did contact Joying and their answer is that their Engineers don’t have enough time to work on it, don’t think they actually have resources to work on canbus, they simply just buy them from someone in China. This is the customer server you get from Joying after spending $500 lol

Okay, so if there is volume data as well as the clock then that changes things most likely.

As the man on the surfboard mentioned, I found some info on reprogramming wiht Ardunio or ESP8622. ESP are much cheaper (just a few US dollar / Euro) than Ardunio and you can use the Ardunio SDK with them. If what I just said does not make sense, then you are better off forgetting about the reprogramming route.
According to http://www.szraise.com/, Hondas , at least more recent versions, are using and RZ model CANbus. No reason to think they would have changed.
Is there an option in your new radio's factory settings to change to an RZ style CAN > Honda > and then try each model option near your car's era until you get functionality.
The factory setting option name might be "Car Model" or something similar.
Maybe take some screen shots of your Factory Settings if you can't find the setting to change the CAN. If you can find the CAN Setting option, take screen shots of that and let's see if we can't get you going again.
Edit:
I just saw that your CAN is an LZ. Was the first CAN also an LZ? Is it the correct CAN?
Maybe try the LZ model in the factory settings first. Maybe my assumption that older Honda's used RZ like more current Honda's do.

If you can find the CAN Setting option, take screen shots of that and let's see if we can't get you going again.

i did try all in RZC can but nothing displayed the clock.
The previous one from Penlingcar was Simple Soft canbus .
in LZ there is only one model and that is what im using and told by joying to use it.
it does support steering wheel control, factory amp, reverse sensor info and door info though

Then I would be checking power to the clock and the connector personally. Occam's razor and all.
The headunit powers the whole screen and displays information there including clock. when I selected RZC, it turned off the screen completely. I don’t think its the power or connector. It is the Can bus not conveying clock information to that screen.
all the best with it then.

My friend solved this by using Honda CR-V on the canbus setting
I think the canbus is made to work on a variety of cars. I just ordered a Teyes cc3 for my 2015 civic and they sent me a canbus decoder for a 2015 CRV. I was comparing the wiring for the CRV and for my Civic and they are different. You may have the same issue and maybe some cables are in the wrong location.
Hi friends I bought a car radio T72 and I would like to set up a canbus for my car I have a Kia Sportage 2015 you can advise. Thank you.

headunit is: Joying - JY-HQ148N4GN
Canbus Type is LZ(HZ) - LZ2012
MH: 20200819
For Spirior+AMP
HW: V3 - SW: V4
car is Honda Accord CU2 8th Gen/ Acura TsX / Honda Spirior 2009
this is where normally the clock appears. The headunit gives information like Volume and Current mode but not giving clock on this screen.

does the climate control come on the android screen?
Did you reboot the unit after changing Canbus type? At least I had a similar problem with my Mazda 3, had to selected a different one. Only got it working with a reboot and a power off
I tried various CANBUS settings and the display did not show any function that I could control via the unit. I have Isudar T72 6/128 Gb unit.
In an Accord 7th, temperature is not shown on dash but in Android screen. It seems a CANBUS message is missing from radio to dash. Perhaps dash sends a query or not but it is clear radio doesn't sends nor responds. For a Civic 8th, somebody has shown in Youtube how to convert temperature from analog and sending by CANBUS using an little Arduino. In fact, he takes only CANH, I think to remeber. But I think this is too complicate, not complete and I don't think conversion must be necessarily linear. The best solution is send a CANBUS message from Android radio to dash. In most radio device, 8 pin connector on the back has TXD and RXD and CANBUS layer 0 (physical layer) is accessed through A/C button block card (Accord 7th, i.e.) or an external CANBUS box. However, a message is missing. I wish to do it intervening TXD/RXD and also giving access to Torque at the same time. But it is necessary to use two serial adapter to do a passthough on both senses, and a third one to connect Torque, with an Arduino as core gateway or a custom Android App in the radio. The ideal solution requires to get access to Android internal resources. But I haven't info.
I continue. In Accord 7th, CANBUS line is TTL (0 V and 4.4 V) and connection to MICU is done through pin 14 of 16 pins green connector (Accord 7th with two thermostat). In Accord 8th, I have read pins CANH and CANL are in 24 pins connector but I haven't paid more attention because mine is a 7th one. I suppose TTL line of Accord 7th works as P2P (peer to peer) but probably 8th one, having CANH and CANL, permits to add more nodes, as long as MICU or ECU not to have intrusion prevention (I don't know).

Ownice or Teyes android 10 car multimedia?

Hello, which brand would you recommend ? I've been reading topics here and narrowed it down to maybe those two. It is for Opel Insignia 2008 . I browsed some "tesla" style with the bigger screen which replaces my whole front panel of the cd which controls the partonic and has sport and tour buttons and they say it doesn't support them. Since my old cd is behind the buttons and the new one is only where the screen is , i disconnect the old one, will those tour and sport buttons work in a normal smaller multimedia system? Thanks in advance

what i want most from this upgrade is a seamless and easy connection of my phone to the car - listening to spotify via bluetooth. Android auto to use the phone trough the multimedia would be nice. I see those units provide fast charging via USB which is also neat. I want fast boot ups and not to drain my battery - i see this mentioned a lot. And hopefully not to lose any options for my car like comfort settings - sport, tour buttons, steering wheel buttons.

"Android auto to use the phone trough the multimedia would be nice."
Neither of these are Android Auto.
I like the quick charger USB, ambient light control and IPS screen of Ownice. Plus, it does have Android Auto and CarPlay but you need to pay extra cost.
I normally don't answer these kind of topics as it is a never ending story, but maybe I or others can use it to copy around in likewise questions.
They are more or less the same when it comes to the software. They are FYT based and have support for the several versions of hardware.
But anyway, for all units be it FYT based, MTCx, TSx, AC8227, etc., etc., FIRST compare the hardware:
Check whether the screen is TFT/IPS/QLED (in increasing quality=readability). Go for nothing less than 1280x720 (1024x600 is not good enough anymore, but in the end it is up to you).
Check which FM-chip (from low to high):
TDA7786x or Philips (NXP) TEF6851 => budget chip without RDS.
TDA7708x => middle segment but good enough
Philips (NXP) TEF6686 => top FM chip
Check which audio chip (low to high):
TDA7388 -> budget, not good.
TDA7850/TDA7851: Both good. 7851 has slightly less power output with slightly less heat dissipation. Less chance of overheating. The TDA7851 has almost everywhere been replaced with the TDA7838, which should be identical in quality/performance (no idea, google around)
DSP: nowadays mostly ROHM BU32107. (Earlier ADAU chips are not so good but seem only to be used in MTCx units.)
CPU (fast to slow): UIS7862 (Unisoc ums512), SC9853i and PX6, PX5 AC8257, PX30, AC8237 and PX3.
This order is a bit discussable, but the uis7862 is definitely the fastest currently.
Memory: minimal 2GB, 4GB is fine. Some prefer 6GB but that is actually not necessary.
Now back to the FYT models you are mentioning. They are more or less comparable. It "seems" T'eyes support is better, but I leave that to the owners (Don't want to start a flame here )

What? Android Auto?
You are going to buy such an expensive high-power full-fledged full functional Android unit and use it as a cheap emulator for the restricted Android Auto?????
I really, really don't understand these kind of arguments. If you want to use Android Auto, for which you indeed sometimes need to pay separately, then choose a cheap unit which supports this as well.

Android Auto is crap
When people think about buying these android head units I don't think they quite get the idea that these are pretty much full-on android tablets complete with their own android operating system. There really is no need to run android auto. Things like spotify.... youtube... siriusxm... etc... can be downloaded from the google playstore and run directly from the head unit itself. All you need to do is supply a wifi hotspot from your phone, or fit the head unit with its own 4g card.
Thanks guys, really useful answers! About android auto - I have, had no idea it wasn't that good. I never had a car with more than a single colored screen and always see adverts about new cars which specify they have android auto or apple car play as such a huge extra. After all isn't this to link the phone to the car system and operate the phone from the display? What if I receive e call ? The Bluetooth/wi-fi connection will allow me to answer it from the car media? And lastly i really want to have it lazy - for example i get in the car - my head unit and the car connect somehow , can i make it play Spotify automatically ? is there something like Bixby routines or.. can it happen at all? Or actually i can do it from the phone - when connected to that head unit to play Spotify like I have a program to play automatically when it connects to a certain speaker? Thanks very much again!

I have a simple bixby routine set up to turn the phone wifi hotspot on for use with the head unit, and then off again when I turn my jeep off. Of course the head unit automatically connects to that hotspot when it sees it. It's all automatic. I don't have to pull the phone out at all.
You can downlaod a tasker to start Spotify automatically if you wish.
Yes, your phone's bluetooth will connect automatically for phone calls.

Bixby is Samsung only.
You can also use Tasker/MacroDroid/Automagic/Automate/etc. to do what you do what @Bob_Sanders is doing with BixBy.
When you switch on the unit it connects via BT to your phone. That triggers MacroDroid/Tasker on your phone for that BT device (the unit) to switch on the hotspot, which the car unit on its turn then automatically connects to.
And when you switch off the car/unit, your BT connection is broken and the phone hotspot is stopped.
Works all the time for me.
Wow!
The Ownice has a HUGE array of inputs/outputs on top of the normal ones... pretty impressive
Dual sub outputs
HDMI output
Quick charge usb
two rca video outputs
Atmosphere lighting control

Peugeot 407 SW with Android system - can't hear sound

Hello everyone
I have a 2006 Peugeot 407 SW and I installed a 2 din radio with Android. Connected every wire into its place, but I do have a few issues:
First, the private seller didn't told me anything about setting it up. But I managed to find the 6 digit-code accessible settings (what I found it was 000000 through a Google search) where I can setup the right type of canbus for it.
Ok, the canbus device I've been given is a Raise PSA-RZ-15, so thats the one I selected back in the options.
Steering wheel commands do work ok.
When I set the gear to reverse, it tries to obtain the back camera image (I don't have the back camera installed yet, but its ok).
And there are a few numbers in the trip statistics screen, so it gathered the travels I made recently.
But I can hear no sound, either from radio or from USB or Youtube through a wireless connection.
Any ideas? Do I need a different canbus device? Or I just need to select a different device in the advanced settings?
Thanks
If the unit is working then most likely you just connected the wrong wires.
I've got a Peugeot as well, so most likely you will have a similar connector to mine.
There should be a big male type connector for the one you removed from the back of your original radio. You have a female type connector which connects to this big one and the other side which is much smaller, and that connects to the headunit itself. Make sure it's connected together properly and the fastener is closed.
The canbus decoder is for the headunit to be able to communicate with the vehicle canbus. This makes the trip info appear on the screen, and the steering wheel controls to work. The one you have with your unit is usually enough for most people, but there is an upgraded version which can display A/C information and steering wheel angle too(for reversing).
If the steering wheel controls are not working, that's because you need to set the canbus decoder type in the settings. If your exact car type is not listed try something like 308, 408 or Berlingo, or RZC.
Well, I can't just have connected the wrong wires because I did not made any manual connections with the wires. I just plugged everything where they could fit; each connector only has 1 socket to fit. Its like having 1 USB, 1 VGA and 1 Serial ports and connect them all. Can't make it wrong.
As I have said, the steering wheel controls ARE WORKING.
The reverse gear activates the rear camera view.
I just can't hear anything.
In the advanced options panel, the canbus I have selected IS the canbus module I have, but that one refers as being to another vehicle. The one listed as being a 2006 407 Peugeot is actually a Hiworld.
What I want to know is:
Do I need to exchange this Raise and get the Hiworld module or just change this in the options? I tried several Raise ones but none makes the unit plays sound.

In fact is a CVD1810 / 8227 system. I have steering wheel controls and reverse camera. Just need to know what canbus to select in the options. The real one I have is Raise PSA RZ 15 and ofc I tried that one. No sound. Tried a bunch of others, no sound.
Do you have a link for the product?
Also, can you take a picture of your old head-unit and the wiring for the new unit?
Ok here ya go.
DSC_0060 is the cable from the car.
DSC_0061 is the cable connected to the canbus.
DSC_0077 is the back of the old unit
About that product link, as I bought it from some guy here in Portugal for a 2 day faster shipping, I don't have any link, but I can provide a link to a very similar unit (and to confirm my idea that the problem is the canbus module, as this following link, the supplied canbus is the one I want to try next). In fact, I have ordered it through Aliexpress and am waiting for it to be delivered and check it out (just the Hiworld module and the cable, not the whole unit).

Hello again!
I have an update here:
I ordered the canbus Hiworld W25, wich is apropriate for Peugeot 407, and in fact I can see now all vehicle informations on screen like A/C and such. But the sound is still not coming to the car speakers... I'm starting to believe its a faulty wiring or something from the unit itself...
Another update:
My car has JBL speakers, subwoofer and amplifier. So the regular canbus ordered is not enough. I need a Peugeot 407 with JBL speakers specific canbus. Maybe the Raise PSA RZ 67 will do this?
You need to make sure your audio cable is connected. You can search for installation videos on youtube, about the screen that appears when reversing, you can ask the seller where to set it up, this feature can be turned off.

All cables seem connected in their places. What happens, some guy in Peugeot forums sent me this link:
https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005004252265202.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2bra
Its a canbus + cable for Peugeot 407, and this cable has a TON of connectors my current cable doesn't. I assume this cable will solve my issue, so maybe I don't need to mess up with the wires.

Well yes, this harness has a speaker on it (like my previous one). The difference is this one has more connectors to plug to the original radio and send the sound signal to the android.
When parking, I see the graphic on screen with red and orange bars depending if I'm close to some object, or very close. And it displays where the object is. Similar to this image:

YT9218 radio problem with canbus

Hi, I have had a YT9218 radio for a couple years now but I didn't buy the canbus for my car, a renault megane 2 cc, so I couldn't use my steering wheel controls. Recently I bought it as I found it for cheap in aliexpress and upon connecting it and setting up the canbus protocol it kinda worked, but I couldn't remap the steering wheel keys to what I want them to do. Also, I couldn't fin the right car model in the protocol settings, but I selected one of another renault car model and mostly worked.
The thing is, after a bit of research I updated the 9218 canbus apk and a lot of car models appeared, including one for megane 2, but after selecting it nothing works, I have to select again another car model for it to work. I was hoping that after having the option for megane 2 I could remap the keys, but it was not the case.
I think the problem is that every time I press a button of the steering wheel it's being detected as two key presses with the wrong car model, I'm going to attach a picture of it. And when I select megane 2 as protocol it just doesn't detect any key presses, just "noise", also going to attach a picture of that.
I hope someone can help me with this, I have the volume buttons working which is half of what I wanted, but I'd love to be able to change songs with the steering wheel controls too.
I've never updated the firmware of the unit, and that's something I was also considering to do, but in the xygala page there's no bare YT9218 model, all of them have some kind of surname like YT9218C, YT9218CH...
Anyway, thank you very much for any help that you can give me!

provide information about the device, I will add a photo of how the info should look, where the buttons on the steering wheel and the canbus application are set. system screen, button mapping and can app are the same for android 6 and android 8. You have android6 (api23), you can update to android8 (api27). I have a device 9218DH from android6, I updated to 9260 android8. basically, you can also insert the software 9216BJ, 9212, 9213 and similar. It depends if everything will work. all versions worked for me, but I have a DSP, that's why I have a 9260dsp because the DSP didn't play sound. try a factory reset, it might help

Hi dodo, first of all, thanks for replying!
About the info of the device, I posted some pictures of what Hardware Info app says the device is, but if you want pictures or info about something specific ask me and I'll upload them asap.
The button map app looks exactly the same as mine, but sadly it won't remap any buttons, I click on the button on the screen which I want to asociate with a button and the press the steering wheel button, but it won't bind, it will do the button action (for example, volume up button will increase the volume) and a message will appear on the screen saying that it couldn't bind. And lastly the menu from the last picture you attached, I don't have that or I don't know how to get to that :S
About upgrading the software, I downloaded the firmware named "xyauto_ui2_9218C-ota-20200705_HIFI.zip" that I've read worked for another person in the forum with the YT9218 car unit, but haven't installed it yet, I think I can do it over the weekend, or at least I hope so, but I don't know if that will fix my problem with the canbus, as I'm not sure what's causing that double signal when the steering wheel buttons are pressed...
xyauto_ui2_9218C-ota- OTA is an update via usb key. if it doesn't work, you have to use the spFlash tool program on the computer and use the version from xy auto for PC, not ota. If you didn't have canbus until now, did the radio work correctly? did it turn off correctly? did the backlight dim when you turned on the lights? check the wiring of the unit. if you have a disconnectable wire on the wiring (marked in red in the picture), after connecting the canbus it must be disconnected, but I don't know how it is with the Renault brand. have you tried a factory reset?
I forgot again. Cable Key1 and Key2, if you have them on the wiring, disconnect them. They are used for control from the steering wheel if there is no canbus. Maybe that's why the double signal

I know, I mostly want to avoid using the spflash because I don't have any space to have the car on during all the process...
The radio worked in the way that it played music and connected to my phone, but I had no steering wheel controls or anything like that. It turned off correctly, that worked, but I didn't even know the white touch keys were backlight until I put the canbus........ xD
I don't think there's any detachable cables on the unit, but I'll have to check again. Any way, this is the canbus that I bought and it connects exactly as in the image:

No, I haven't tried a factory reset, but I don't know if it could help with the problem, you think so?
I'll check the key1 and key2 cables, can they be permanently into the canbus? I mean, are they detachable like the picture you posted or to detach them do I have to cut them?
Again, thank you very very much for all your help!
try a factory reset, it's the easiest and cheapest way. In the picture you have cables key1, key2. I think they should not be connected if you have canbus. If they are connected, a double signal to the steering wheel may be generated (one from key1/key2 and the other from canbus). I think that even the "illuminate and reverse cam" cable to the reverse camera should not be connected, this is all replaced and controlled by the canbus converter. I'm writing again, maybe I'm wrong, I don't know the Renault connection. Check the connection or try a factory reset

Okay, I'll try a factory reset first, it should be done through android settings right?
But those two cables end up in nothing don't they? They are not connected anywhere. In any case, I'll try to do everything this weekend thank you very much again for all your help!
yes, try restoring factory settings. and yes, the key1/2 cables should not be connected (they should be replaced by a canbus decoder), try and inform us, but I'm sorry if it doesn't help you, I don't have a Renault

Well, I've been in the car and tried restoring factory settings, but that didn't help. I couldn't check the cables because I didn't have tools at hand, I'll try seeing that this weekend...
I've checked the cables and the "key" ones are not connected, everything else was fine as far as I could tell. I contacted the seller of the canbus for support, but I haven't had any response yet....

write what the seller said. it's hard to help more, maybe it would help to update android.
I have another question, did you select the canbus type in the factory settings? password 8888. there is a guide in this topic, item 2

I updated android with the zip I said and it behaves the same way... and the seller just told me to configure the protocol settings with XINPU but it did the exact same thing... I think the buttons with the radio are not remappable, in any case, I'll update with anything new they say me
