does mi a1 really get Android Q 10 ? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Can we trust the news that androidcentral website published which mentioned mi a1 will get Android 10?

That reminds me about latest May update.
70Mb of a mere security patch with no actual bug fixes from Xiaomi. Guided by that, and the same kind of question when P appeared... Well it was more like a miracle and a compromise of Xiaomi to reach their goal, no matter how.
Just read around to see how unsatisfied are many users about jumping to P without giving according support for rising new bugs.

just flash a custom 9.0 and you will be happy.

Dude, at least they give monthly security patches and this is an old budget device, I am happy with whatever support we've been given by Xiaomi and would be really grateful if they released Android Q, no matter the bugs... (the sources help, and reduce developer burden)

You shouldn't just be "happy", as it is mandatory to release monthly security updates for Android one devices. About android Q, I personally think they won't release it as Xiaomi has already f***ed up my Mi A1 with bootloops and wifi problems. If they're going to release Q, then all the bugs on pie must be fixed before that.

Well, that really sounds too good to be true.
If I read the original ad for A1, Xiaomi isn't obligated to do that so I wouldn't hold my breath...

...that sounds ok... for Mi A2...
I'd try to chat again and confirm if that update is actually planned for Mi A1 (tissot).

When there are still September and October security update to release, why he / she should mention about late November??? I think he really means Android 10.

Even if it were to come (which it wont), there is no way it would be with us by November, Xiaomi aren't exactly renowned for speedy updates, why would they rush out an unnecessary update and they don't even have a beta group now.

I think it will be soon, the latest 511 already has some doze functionality backported, maybe next month? Anyway since this is one of the most important new features I don't care much, as long as it is stable and bug free

I hope they wait a bit after reading all the issues the new permission Model in M still has. This is more a consumer device than a Nexus so they should take their time and wait until it's also ready for the "average" user. Hopefully they don't rush the update like they did last year with the S5 and Android L (with all the bugs it had).

This for example. It seems like there can go much wrong if an app is written against the newest api but the developer "forgot" to ask for a permission in the right situation. If even Google makes that mistake with their G+ app this will happen to many other devs too.
So far I hoped that Android M will automatically ask for a permission when it's needed - even when the developer didn't create a customized request. But it looks like it doesn't which looks like a big fail to me.
And this is another thing which sounds also like a big mess. App settings spread across the system ... this will be a nightmare for the average user. Hopefully Google will fix that soon or OEMs like Samsung will take their time to change it and don't implement it the same way Google did.

I feel Google should have stayed on Lollipop for this year as well instead of announcing a new version.
There are still a lot of bugs and polishing that could have been fixed and done in let's say in 5.2 but no, they had to take out a new version when Lollipop still isn't present on the majority of devices.

it doesn't matter how they call it, it's just a new release. Bugs will be squashed, features will be added.

This is Lollipop, just renamed to Marshmallow. It's mostly fixes, better battery usage and optimizations. The only really new features are hidden like Doze, superficial like Google Now Tap, and security fixes for Google Pay.

I think that article was a bit on the tabloid level, because while it's true Google flubbed the G+ permissions, Marshmallow asks for them. I checked, all permissions were off, and in G+ I wanted to take a pic and post it, and it automatically asked for both Camera permission and storage permission. I've granted both, and after both were set in the Apps/G+/Permissions.
As for the other problem, I don't get it, how it is a problem, but it really can be for some.

I doubt Sony would waste resources and time anyway to add features and stuff in the Lollipop ROM when the Marshmallow ROM is around the corner and should arrive by the end of December

Well, the first source is 100% unreliable, as their top post states that Z1 will receive Marshmallow, though Sony has officially dropped support, whilst the second source just states some rumours.
The only indication I have seen that we might be getting Marshmallow this year is Telstra's update roadmap, where they said that Z4 Tablet will be on Marshmallow in January, and since it's a carrier branded device, unlocked Z4 Tablets would probably receive Marshmallow earlier.

Marshmallow will start rolling out around the end of May/beginning of June.
But it's your choice. If you are considering the 5.5" variant, then it's the best out of the three.
Same if you are considering the 4.7" variant. It is still better than the G Stylo and Escape.

Idols are pretty solid phones for the price, it's gonna be kinda hard to beat them. Don't let the android version stop you, marshmallow or not they are great.
I personally have had really bad experiences with cheap lg phones, you'd be lucky if you get what you pay for.
If you do go for an lg other then a g3/4 I'd really suggest looking up multiple reviews first.

I have the LG Stylo from T-Mobile, and the idol international version on cricket, but using AT&T Apn with great success. In my opinion, the Stylo is a much more solid device, with removable battery, incredible memory management, and already has marshmallow. The idol can't be beat for music though, and hopefully marshmallow will fix high all the time memory usage. Just don't get the cricket version of either of these, as the hardware and software are lesser. I happily use both, and have Google voice for handling the number integration. Have the idol on cricket's inexpensive plan, and it comes in handy when I travel to have AT&T service [emoji51]

I have had this phone through Cricket since Nov. 2015, and i loved it until the patch came through. I have now had to have it replaced twice because it will turn off on its own, when i try and use Google play music it locks the phone screen immediately. I think all of the bugs are A) due to Crickets bloat wear or B) due to the bugginess of 5.0.2. Has anyone else experience any flaws and glitches? I LOVED this phone up until this point and now i want to throw it at a wall, or move back to the ZTE Max Plus (2) since it just dropped.

G6 Oreo update... How much longer?

Been reading through xda and other websites for a while now and i gotta say, I'm very disappointed with how long it takes LG to release oreo for the G6. No beta program, no info of when they are planning to release, not even a leaked oreo for LG flagship device. Last year LG was one of the first to release Nougat for the G5, this year pretty much every mobile phone manufacturer has already released oero for their phones (final or beta) and LG... Well... Hasn't!!! Maybe we should remind LG that they released the G6 phone, cause they're so quiet about oreo update for it, it feels like they've forgotten they put a flagship device called LG G6 out on the market. Soooooo disappointing :/
Mind that they released no update for European G6 for more than 4 months, maybe in April we will receive march patch, and Oreo when P will be announced... Lol
if the update is important for you just sell your G6 and buy any other phone from other brand

Not saying it is sooooo important, but it would be nice to see that LG actually cares, considering they are one of the main companies on the market. Hell... Even an official info about release date would be ok.
And the screen you attached... That's like from end of october. And since then... Nothing.

Now that's more like it. Has it been released in Korea for beta-testing or anything like that?? Those screens.... Are they made by LG or someone from outside the company got the ROM for testing and shared the screens?

Nope. On android 8.0 we will stay very long time.
I'm not holding my breath for 8.1 on Verizon. This will be the last non Google phone I buy. I almost bought the Pixel instead of this phone. I bought the G6 on launch day.

Can someone download and upload it for h870 ?
In my humble opinion we shouldn't be holding our breath. Most customers of these phones are not techie freaks like us, and don't really care about the underlying OS version, especially because the LG skin provides a lot of additional features anyway. I think LG knows this, and what most interests their customers is that their phones just work quickly, reliably and smoothly, with the features they have. LG probably couldn't give a hoot about us nut cases who can't wait to get their hands on the latest OS version that somebody else has.

Funny thing... Not long after i created this topic, comes a post from liushangrong with screenshots of a 19a preview oreo build for LG G6. Korean website and screens from Korean G6 running oreo. I've never seen those screens before, has anyone of you guys? I can only think of 2 things here.
1. Coincidense
2. LG know they're late with oreo update and have their employee keeping an eye out for any signs of disappointment here on xda, and if such is seen, giving a proof of oreo update being worked on.
Sounds crazy? Maybe, but it's just something that came to my mind :/

Original Announcement
Oneplus have announced that they will be skipping 8.1 for these devices, but will be bringing Android P instead:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/android-p-is-coming-to-the-oneplus-3-and-3t.879545/
"Hi everyone,
Including our camera improvements and the latest Android security patch, the OxygenOS 5.0.4 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T was released worldwide last week. Since it was launched, we've been listening to questions asking about our next major update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. After internal discussions and evaluation, we have decided to focus our development resources on the Android P project instead of upgrading the device to Android 8.1, so that we can offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users.
Over the past few months, we have been working closely with Google on the Android P Beta program. Thanks to everyone’s participation and continued feedback, the progress we have made together has been greatly accelerated. The Android P update will be available on the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5/T and OnePlus 3/3T, in this order. We will keep you all updated in the coming months.
Cheers,
Gary"

nice move by oneplus
Omg. This is the best news i have heard in a while!
Please keep all news/discussion related to OxygenOS 6.0 in this thread only. Any new thread opened regarding ETA/etc will be closed.
P.S. - looks like I won't upgrade any time soon
It's a really nice gesture from Oneplus and i applaud them for it. There's plenty of life left in these devices still!
I hope that with P they will implement Camera2 API correctly, so no more scrolling and hanging.
Great news! I only hope they will keep their promises. And i hope too that they bring eas to the op3/t since they are working with google

OnePlus 2 and the Nougat upgrade. They made forum posts and announced it on their Twitter that they will be upgrading the 2 to N, but they let it be and slowly forgot about it.
The good old 2 is still on MM Blobs. So yeah, OnePlus did not update it and keep to their promise, but it was a failed device so we need to take that into consideration too.
If they do keep their promise... That's 4 version of Android that the OnePlus 3/t went through that's above and beyond in the android world... If they use treble for our devices it shows that treble could allow us to have longer support... I'm glad I went back to OnePlus after OnePlus one I went to nexus due to the bad feedback from OnePlus 2 but eventually decided to buy the OnePlus 3 with my gut feeling. A good move I guess by me

We can only hope. I doubt it, but considering they are upgrading it to Android P (Already something they said they wouldn't do) its not out of the question
actually OP3/3T doesn't need any effort about Android update from oneplus
just give full " project treble "compatibility with the existing stable build that's it we can do the rest

Actually no. Having P Blobs for Custom ROMs would be great because Developers can build their ROMs over much more recent and up to date Blobs rather than using Oreo Blobs. Therefore, getting P is quite a milestone, even for Custom ROM users.

Failed device or not, they had to update it as they said or at least lower the price of the op3 for the ppl that bought that failed device.
Everyone expected from a brand like one plus to get at least 2 major android updates like every other brand does.
I think its a lie.

That was my first thought too. The whole Android 'P' development cycle should be in better shape because of this.
There is article on XDA why OP 3/3T cannot have project Treble ( I am too lazy to search it ), you may search yourself.
If we really will get Android P, that's awesome too. finger crossed.
