Video recording sound quality - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hi guys!
I'm about to buy this device, but I read that bad microphone audio quality bug affects this mobile too. Even my current Redmi 3S had this issue, but luckily there is a patch for this device, which fixes this issue and in theory it can be ported to another devices too:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...fix-fixing-bad-sound-video-recording-t3523171
Sadly I don't have the knowledge to do this, but I wonder if someone could make a Magisk version of this for lavender. It would help a lot of people.

It will be great If anyone could make a fix. Terrible sound recording while Metallica concert 2days ago.

There's a fix for AOSP roms, that maybe works in MIUI too , I use miui.eu and I tried to flash it, and audio seems good now: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...-improve-audio-recording-video-calls-t3939963

I know what fix exist from xda. But i want fix from Xiaomi in official stable firmware. Please confirm problem. It takes around 10 secs for you for confirm.
I don't only confirm the issue, but it is the main reason I use custom ROMs on my redmi 3 pro as I didn't have the time for flashing etc. this year. I,be posted many times at their forum to resolve the issue. The main problem is that the gain amplification of the audio is set to amplify it, digitally,to the extreme. Which leads to digital clipping and distortion. Cm13 audio recording has no amplification at all, which leads to very quiet recordings. Cm14 and lineageOS , for me, has resolved the audio clipping issue but with a pitch shifted result, making my voice sound bassy and like another person was speaking. I can demonstrate those issues with audio and video samples.
I hope to see this fixed on LineageOS

WE need this for Redmi 3
Hello guys,
I'm trying to port the fix to Redmi 3. Porting was successful, however after I flash it on my device running MoKee 71.1 Nightly 20170128 with my custom 3.10.61 kernel and start recording video, when going to stop the recording it simply freezes, camera is blacked out, and unable to save video. (Attachment 1)
Video isn't saved or broken. (Attachment 2)
Next time I open camera, it fails to start camcorder. (Attachment 3)
Edit:
When only mixer_paths_skuk.xml left modified (audio_platform_info.xml returned to stock), it has a side effect after stopping the recording. The camera blacked out until I exit camera and reopen it again.
Conclusion:
This sound bug is IMPOSSIBLE to fix on Redmi 3 by editing audio_platform_info.xml and mixer_paths_skuk.xml due to reasons above. Just flame and spam Xiaomi (with caps lock if needed) with hope that they will fix it!

Nougat ROM for Redmi 2 with best sound?

I have been using MoKee based on MM for a while now and I thought of flashing a Nougat based ROM. I first flashed AOSP Extended and then I flashed Ressurection Remix and whenever I played music, the speaker output wasn't clear and there was a lot of distortion. Calling was fine and even the headphone jack was satisfactory.I disabled the equalizer in Play Music but that just reduced sound output. I tried to play music in other music players as well like Poweramp(Paid version), Blackplayer and the default Music app but it was all the same. Even the output when I was watching a video on the Youtube App was the same. I flashed the DivineBeats sound mod and that didn't help either. My speaker on Marshmallow based ROMs works perfectly fine, with or without mods. So, I wanted to know whether there is a ROM that doesn't have this problem and if there are people who are facing this issue as well.
All nougat roms are like this, I hope there was a fix for this....
best rom for sound output is miui
whatever steps u have performed ,i also done same as that of u.i also tried various players but there is no use. then i come to kno that the es explorers music player is great since it produces great sound op as compared to previous players such as poweramp normal version,mi player(chinese version). u can try it its great.but the output which we were getting thr the miui rom is uncomparable. missing the miui rom.
In my opinion, the MIUI have a best quality sound. But, custom roms have a good quality, like Mokee and lineageOS. But I don know if are better or not than MIUI. I'm use a Phillips headphone in many times. Actually, I'm using Mokee Nougat 7.1.1.
It's a good question! :good:
Still the Audi Fx of most nougat ROMs is not mature as of marshmallow so flashing mods won't help
Wait till nougat attains stability

OnePlus 5 camera, poor audio quality

I noticed that the audio quality in video recording is really poor. If I use the recorder app (In OxygenOS) the audio quality (when format set to wav) is really good!
I'm wondering if this is a bug in OOS, or intented to keep the filesizes down?
Who else noticed it?
I also made a thread on the OP forums, but people aren't too active there.

Hey, the best is to report this as a bug...

Thanks. Haven't used the forums since my op2 time.
No problem, man I appreciate your effort...
I reported a bug about connectivity and oneplus technicians have contacted me a few hours later and are really ambitious to solve the problem...
So I think this is the best way to solve your (our) problems..
Have a great day

Audio recording issues (noise cancelling) so annoying ... any fix?

Hi all, x722 here, I dont know if this happens to the other models aswell.
I think most of us know that we have a terrible audio recording quality, and with a very agressive noise cancelling going on, which completely spoils the audio quality in general. When you record something loud, the volume turns down a lot and the general audio quality for the more distant sounds is just terrible. It is just crazy the difference between video (image) and audio quality, and how much can a bad audio spoil any video no matter how good the image looks.
Is there any known solution to fix or improve this?? I'm not sure but i think its got something to do with "persist audio fluence" values, which are somewhere in the system files regarding audio.
It is driving me nuts completely. If anyone can bring some light into the matter, I would appreciate it....! :good:

Great question. The recording quality is the only problem I have with this leeco phone and this is the only reason that I do not buy it again for my wife. Recording quality is very imortant for us.
How can we fix it? Is there the same problem to all roms? I tried only the original bangood rom 20s.
Please answer if you tried other roms!
Also please inform me if the same problem exists to other leeco models as le max 2 X820 and leeco 2 x526.

Bad microphone quality on instagram.

Hey guys, I'm having some troubles after updating from stock 8.1 to custom 8 or 9 roms.
Video recording is awesome on Gcam, but on apps like Instagram and snapchat, the sound of recording seems to be supressed and extremely low.
I actually did some searching for fixing, but i didn't found anything that worked.
Does anyone is having this problem too?
There is a fix for that?
Pixel Experience 9.0 with latest update and extremeKernel 13.4.

I already have checked about cleaning, but it's already clean.
If i boot on stock, the microphone works very well.
As i mentioned, looks like that there is something on software that is supressing the audio, cause on Gcam, it works nicely, but on apps, it's supressed.
Another reason to stick on stock then.

Same here. I didn't find any solutions, so all I do is record 15 second video on my gcam and post that on instagram. ?
Its a known issue on custom roms for our device (and others actually).
The workaround could be like carastroren1991 said, record using gcam and upload to IG.

Yeah, i'm doing it, but sometimes you don't have time to... I belive that is a problem on audio software that makes the noise reduction...
