Bad microphone quality on instagram. - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I'm having some troubles after updating from stock 8.1 to custom 8 or 9 roms.
Video recording is awesome on Gcam, but on apps like Instagram and snapchat, the sound of recording seems to be supressed and extremely low.
I actually did some searching for fixing, but i didn't found anything that worked.
Does anyone is having this problem too?
There is a fix for that?
Pixel Experience 9.0 with latest update and extremeKernel 13.4.

I already have checked about cleaning, but it's already clean.
If i boot on stock, the microphone works very well.
As i mentioned, looks like that there is something on software that is supressing the audio, cause on Gcam, it works nicely, but on apps, it's supressed.

Another reason to stick on stock then.

Same here. I didn't find any solutions, so all I do is record 15 second video on my gcam and post that on instagram. ?

Its a known issue on custom roms for our device (and others actually).
The workaround could be like carastroren1991 said, record using gcam and upload to IG.

Yeah, i'm doing it, but sometimes you don't have time to... I belive that is a problem on audio software that makes the noise reduction...

h990DS Broken camera? Can only record video via snapchat and not camera app

I have a H990DS and ever since I rooted it ive been having problems with my camera. Whenever I go to record a video in the stock camera app or the pixel camera app port thing it just records a still with the audio in the background. The only way I can record videos is using snapchat then saving it. All 3 of the cameras do this. Does anyone know of a fix, I would like to be able to video on my camera, I am also looking for a custom rom for the H990DS aswell.

Looks like you flashed a "bad" kernel. Used to have this issue with emdroidle's generic kernel.
Try to flash this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h918-h910-us996-ucl-mk2000-kernel-t3708330
Use Back To The Future build. I've found to be the best working kernel for me.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

Will this wipe my phone? or can I just swap the kernels?

You need to wipe cache/dalvik when flashing this. So it could take as long as half an hour to boot.
But all your stuff is gonna be there after this. (It won't wipe your phone)

Hii, anyone tell me how to fix front cam of GCam after update.

Hi, after pixel experience my front cam isn't working the phone keeps on lagging and mic dosent record well during video recording plus video stability show mo and night vision not working well. Although the Rom was awesome i appreciate all your afforts ? thanks team XDA
Sounds like you're using Gcam 6.x. Did it work well before PE update? Btw ROM related questions should be asked in its respective thread.

camera issue

So my camera just started acting up, it produces "wavy" pictures during day light, and is out of focus (even when using a phone stand). The secondary camera however, does not produce the said issue. Can anyone help me?
Can you drop your phone on hard surface if yes that is an hardware issue I think or if you rooted your phone and try to edit camera files may be that is the reason so flash Oxygen OS latest and check again
Sorry for bad english

tried with any other third-party cameras? like GCAM or MX camera?

Haven't tried any other third-party apps besides GCam. I still get the same results on GCam though. At first, i thought the it was a software issue because i just started using GCam when the camera became glitchy so i did a clean flash.
I suffer from the same issue. All I can tell it started happening after Android Pie upgrade (January 2019), and happens randomly mostly when ambient temperature is high (above 25°C). Leaving the phone alone for 15/20minutes usually solves the problem, but SO frustrating to miss some good shots.

Video recording sound quality

Hi guys!
I'm about to buy this device, but I read that bad microphone audio quality bug affects this mobile too. Even my current Redmi 3S had this issue, but luckily there is a patch for this device, which fixes this issue and in theory it can be ported to another devices too:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...fix-fixing-bad-sound-video-recording-t3523171
Sadly I don't have the knowledge to do this, but I wonder if someone could make a Magisk version of this for lavender. It would help a lot of people.
It will be great If anyone could make a fix. Terrible sound recording while Metallica concert 2days ago.
There's a fix for AOSP roms, that maybe works in MIUI too , I use miui.eu and I tried to flash it, and audio seems good now: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...-improve-audio-recording-video-calls-t3939963

Is the autofocus problem prevalent in all ROMS? Kernels?

Hey! I love this phone but i'm kinda getting tired of my beautiful gcam pictures coming out a little blurry, and not being able to "tap to focus". 9MP is off the table for me since I just can't get myself to like the aspect ratio. So, is there any rom or kernel that fixes it? obviously, it has to be pie.
note: the last time i tried to unlock my bootloader, an error popped up. when i reseted my phone, the official pie update installed itself. would that affect any new attempt at unlocking it?
thank you guys so much in advance!
Many said that the AF problem in Pie disappear when using custom roms and install Flex's HAL1 port. I haven't tried this myself since I'm staying on Oreo.
I've got Lineageos and autofocus with gcam is good.
Custom roms dont have auto focus issues, all working good

I was just going to ask if this is a custom rom / gcam issue as I don't have a problem with stock.

Recording in 4k dont have any stabilization because its not supported.
