Does Mi A1 support fast change using QC 3.0? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Tried a Blitzwolf QC3.0 charger that works with other phone. Bur didn't work. But my power bank seems to charge it fast. Why?
Should I buy the official QC3.0 charger? It's it guaranteed to work?
I am on latest official ROM.

Aukey 3.0 18w works ok to me.

No fast charge support, don't waste your money.

Fast charge means 5V 2A. That`s all that this phone knows.

I'm not a fan of how the stock charger looks. So I was curious of the charger with QC2 2.0 from Aukey would work?

The wall plug from Aukey works fine, also the Choetech works fine. I own both.
Worth mentioning that although Quick Charge is a Qualcomm technology, QC2.0 certified chargers work on the Exynos version S7 Edge also, and activate "Fast Charge".

Yep any charger with Qualcomm qc support will work and the ones with higher amperage will also charge at a faster speed although not as fast as qc. The 820 is also supposed to support qc3.0 which should be even faster.

I think it only supports QC 2.0, though the QC 2.0 charger does not come out of the box. But imo, who needs fast charging when the battery life can last up to 2-3 days with this phone.

The 625 snapdragon processor does support Quick Charge 3.0, but Xiaomi prohibits using it i guess to cut cost, i know some user who try to use QC 3.0 on this phone but it doesn't work, to be honest i'm also not sure about QC 2.0, my advice is you should try testing it first by borrowing QC 2.0 charger with some of your friends/relatives that has QC 2.0 charger before attempting to buy one.

No QC 2.0 support for me, tested with new xiaomi powerbank 10000mAh, ampere show max usb current 500 mAh instead of 2000 mAh. However from measurement I can get 1700-2000mAh so still charging fast enough.
Redmi 4 supports Fast Charging (i.e. about 2A), not any form of Quick Charge. The chipset supports it, but as Xiaomi have decided not to pay Qualcomm the royalties they charge for QC, it's disabled at a low level in the phone. It might be possible to enable it via custom kernel, but I don't think it's been done yet if so.

you mean that from the measurement you're getting a CURRENT reading of 1.700 to 2.000 Amps, right? Because mAh is the capacity measurement while A or mA is the current measurement?
To be on topic, the hardware inside (global version - snapdragon) and the battery support QC v1-3 specs but quickcharge is disabled.
The phone will charge at 1.8A or 1800 mA for about 10 minutes between 20% and 55%. battery capacity.

CURRENT WILL NOT RAISE ABOVE 2A by now. ONLY VOLTAGE WILL BE INCREASE, but with decreasing current.
I tested a bit :
with QC 3 compactible Aukey PA-T16 charger, Ampere shows 2030mA
with Anker 40W 5 port charger Ampere shows 1830mA.
I have a Redmi 4 (standard edition) and I also have a USB Ammeter/Voltmeter which I can use to measure actual voltage and current flow into the device.
Using a standard 2A charger, the device accepts 4.9-5.1v (average 5.0v) at 1.5A (1500ma), and rarely exceeds this due to the voltage drop of the charger circuit /transformer in the wall plug.
Using a Quick Charge 3.0 charger (Capable of 5v, 9v, 12v and dynamically 5v-12v for QC3.0), I was able to charge the Redmi 4 at 6.2v/2.1A. The peak voltage was 6.24V and peak current 2.4A (momentary).
The Redmi 4 will charge at 6.2v and 2.1A with a Quick Charge 3.0 compatible charger when the battery is totally flat. As with all batteries the current slowly decreases as the internal resistance of the battery increases as it charges.
This is 13 Watts of power, 1.7 times higher than the 7.5 watts provided by the included '2A' charger. Thus, while it does not officially have QC3.0 capability, the device is still able to utilise a slight boost from the chipset's compatibility with higher voltages. Realistically, this means you could cut down on the charge time by around 1/3, and even moreso when charging from, for example, 0%-30%.

I'm little bit confused coz some users say that QC 3.0 works but some of them report that only QC 2.0 works. Have anybody tried QC 3.0 charger? I cannot try it coz I have only QC 2.0 charger
I use a QC3.0 charger but the phone is only QC2.0

qc3.0 is backwards compatible this means
phone is only qc2.0 and you use qc3.0 charger then the charger will switch to "qc2.0 mode"

No, a QC3.0 charger will charge a QC3.0 device quicker so just buy a QC3.0 charger to future proof yourself.

It won't make a difference on the G5+, but it will likely make a difference on your next phone. Only you can decide if you want to save a little $ today, but have to spend $$ the next time you upgrade.

No. The max limit is 2A. So use the charger came with the box. Buying any fast charger for this phone will be a waste of money.

Charging Oneplus with QC 4.0 or any other standard apart WARP

If I charge Oneplus 8 pro with lets say Car Charger with supported standards PD 3.0/QC 4.0/ QC 3.0/ AFC , is there a downside? Or just slow charging speed?
And, is there a downside if I need to charge my phone at work for example to take notebook USB Type C charger and plug in... (again apart of slow charge)

The rate of charge just be slower, otherwise no problems, no.
I just got the 8 pro yesterday, IN2025. From what I've read and i just tested your charging speed will be better w/ PD as the phone does not support QC anything and just treats as it regular charging.
I tested the charging at ~70%.
USB PD, 4.2V/1.8A - 2A
QC 3.0 4.2V/1..2A
Warp Charging, 4.2V/4.8A
Warp with regular cable, 4.2V/1.2A
Regular charging 4.2V/1.2A

okay so my previous phone was a PD 3.0, I have a bunch of charger that are 3.0 which support up to 65W. What would it do with the OnePlus 8 Pro. will it be limited to 35W or will it go higher?

No, you will not get 30W from your PD charger, it will max out at 15W.
OnePlus only supports PD at 5V, likely because Dash charge only uses 5V. PD caps out at 3A for 5V, so 15W. PD achieves higher wattages by increasing the voltage rather than increasing the amperage like Dash Charge (hence why PD cables are generally thinner than Dash charge ones).

So in your case all chargers give less than required charging voltage?! AFAIK, only dash/vooc charges at battaries max voltage. others supply 5v. check your data
