Call quality - OnePlus 7 Real Life Review

When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the OnePlus 7's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Good

I come from a Nokia 7plus, this oneplus 7 is way better in volume!

Call quality is very OK. Both sides hear each other loud and clear.
But i find the earpeace to be a bit too loud on minimum volume. Its easy for other people to listen to what the other person says.
Anyone with the same experience?

I thought the same

That's exactly what i thought, when I make a call I have to separate the phone from my ear because It's to loud

new update 5.6 has been released .. it claimed that they optimize the call quality

It's worse off for me

Really poor on speakerphone wife cant hear me at all.

My brother have the phone
People cant hear him clearly during calls sometimes
Is anyone having that issue
In one plus site says that this noise canceling issue

Yes I did, and yes it's only on speaker phone. I really loved that phone but it was a deal breaker for me. I ended up selling it.
I have heard that the truly global version which I believe is gm1903 may work better for the US on TMobile. But haven't had the courage to buy it and try it.

Well, I can say for sure that when loundspeaker is turned on the others have problems to hear me well. They say that I speak too quietly and sometimes like I lose signal. But signal is pretty well because in the same situation my other phone works perfectly. Anyone else with the same problem?

Its not about the rom do you have phone version gm1900?
Many sellers sell the china version gm1900
Flashed with oxygen os instead of hydrogen os

Yeah that's why I've told you that I bought it from the official OnePlus website in Europe!

So this must be software issue not related to specific model as i thinked
Where we can report oxygen os bugs?

Can't hear my own voice thru speaker when speaking, is that normal

One thing I look for in a good phone is that when speaking into the moouthpiece/microphone, I can hear my voice thru the headset.
This is not the case with the 8525 I have right now. Aren't I supposed to hear my own voice thru it on this phone?
You do with the Dash, the 3125 you do not...
Well I have a base rom on hear, a Pandora Naked 5, maybe it doesn't have the part that makes it so I can hear my own voice?
So is this normal?
Does yours?
I'm not sure I understand the question. You speak into the phone and you want to hear yourself speak through the headset?
Don't you naturally hear your voice as your talking? I know when I speak into the phone I can hear myself talk.

I think hes talking about the feature on most phones where it helps simulate normal face to face communication so you dont speak too loud. Your voice can be slightly heard over the headset.

Yes, when speaking into the t-mobile dash, and also the motorola v3i, v3t, you can hear yourself speaking just like on land line phones.
But not on my 8525. So you guys don't either?

Well yeah if that is what you are used to of course you don't notice it..like many of the finer things in life. But once you have it, you don't want to lose it.
The SDA also does have this feature.

occaisonal Crakle in Ear Piece

Does anyone have a "crakle" sound in the earpiece - usually happens when someone speaks loud and the word starts with a p, b etc.
I've turned the volume down as it is quite loud.
hi,
im have the same problem the ear speaker is very loud and on my phone is the i and e ! i think the speaker is creaking... that too loud... have a Prof. a idea please ?? the volume is on dialog on Minimum.
thanks
Yes. I too have this problem.
when the volume is louder, the speaker creaks.
I have the same problem with my iPhone 3gs but with much higher volume.
Yes the ear volume is too loud.. They must make a fix for this
Is this think going to be fixed or should I drop my device ?
the HD I bought a year ago didn't have any of the HD2 issues
I have this problem, haptic touch vibration makes a strange rattling sound as well. I contacted VF and they said when they have more in stock they will send o new one to me......
anyone solved this?
Please can you tell if and how anyone solved the occaisonal Crakle in Ear Piece? Me too have the same problem with hd2 and latest rom allready on the device. It is very strange problem.

No fix as yet. No guarantees there will ever be! There is a thread concerned with this already.
So HTC was working on the SD card fix which was not even mentioned in the threads ( I did not notice someone really screaming because of it. maybe someone did but not as much as 8000 users ) which is a minor issue but they seem to ignore the crackling issue!!?? I did not receive any update since more than a month. Can someone please for god's sake contact them ? I said PLEASE because it's a major flaw...
My HD2 also suffers from the occasional crackle and sound distortion . Sound quality of my old N95 was far superior. Hope that its just a firmware issue and that an update will be released shortly. Generally happy with the phone overall though .
anyone get a hiss pulsating every now and then? its not everytime i take/make a call but just sometimes. its annoying! lol.

Yep, I heard it yesterday for the first time, not sure it was their all the time or that i had just noticed it.......all i know is that it drove me mad to the point that i had to hang up.
My first handset had the earpiece crackling, so I had it exchanged today. Sadly the new one also has this problem. I've called T-Mobile to see if I can get another exchange, but they'll only do one exchange and I've used that one up
I now have until next Tuesday (so Thurs this week thanks to Xmas bank hols) to decide whether to return or keep the phone.....Aaarrrrggghh!!!
I now understand why Vodafone dropped the HD2 from their line up. It's a great gadget for people like us, but just not finished enough to sell as a top of the range phone to the general public.

They all do it, it isn't that your particular handset is faulty. I've had two as well.
Ah, okay then. I had thought that I was just a bit unlucky. Hopefully there'll be a volume-fix out soon then.
I have same problem, hopping for a fix soon.

No Call Sound Through Earpiece

Hey guys, so just yesterday I haven't been able to hear anything through the earpiece. Every time I receive a call, the person on the other end can hear me but I can't hear them. If I play through the speakers or if I plug in some earphones, then i'm able to hear sound but not through the earpiece. It's a huge inconvenience and just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and what can I do to fix it?
Many thanks guys

On that one you should hear a high tone, if you don't you probably have damaged the normal earpiece.

"HD Voice" seems like a gimmick to me

I have both features enabled on eligible devices, confirmed my call was on lte, and it sounded the same as the 20 year old codec we still use. Anyone else have a difference experience?

Yes.
I was in a weak area though so sometimes there were voice drops.
The quality was loud and quite good. Regular VoLTE sucks for quality though.
How did you verify it was an HD call?

I really hope that they produce an update to the system soon to make regular VoLTE better. Cause like you said, it really sucks!

Verizon is following a good standard right now with HD calling too. They should be able to connect up with ATT soon.
HD Voice in and of itself isn't a gimmick, the dynamic and frequency range are noticeably better..
On my wired VOIP office phone that is....
I have a couple of customers that I can tell instantly they have a HD polycom VOIP phone, it's like going from ****ty earbuds to a real set of
cans. I talk to people for a living, five days a week, for the last decade. Cell phones all suck for voice call quality. Period. Fin.
I hang up on people that call me on a cell with ****ty reception/quality, and that's 3/4 of them.
It amazes me that after all these years, it still sucks so often.
The cell HD stuff? Wouldn't hold my breath...

I only see HD connections if both are polycoms.
Far as I can tell yes. Lot of smallish businesses are getting service from RingCentral or one of those guys now.
Haven't tried to see if HD works on the VOIP phone apps from the service provider or not.
It'd be nice if they can work this crap out for regular cell calls. For all our advances it's mighty frustrating
in 2014 to still have such ****ty call quality.

Call quality?

Is anyone else finding the call quality terrible?
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
Yes! Me.
I have read stories of crisp clear audio. My experience is mushy, kind of muffled and distorted sound. I requested a new one from Amazon. Received that and tested today. Seems the same with the added bonus of more off white screen colour.
Now I'm not sure whether the crisp sound is a myth or to request another one!
The one i had was really excellent sound. Loud and clear. Didn't even need to use the speakerphone sometimes. Very clear.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
For the most part, sound quality for me has been awesome. The one exception is something that has been happening with three different phones (VZW LG G3, unlocked Moto X Pure, and now the Axon) on two different carriers (first VZW, now T-Mobile).
What happens is that if I'm sitting up talking on the phone, it's perfectly fine. If I lay down and try to talk, the person on the other end has a hard time hearing me. The same happens on my wife's Axon 7... as well as her LG G3 before that.
I've been totally stumped as to why this could be happening.

Total shot in the dark here, but I read an article couple months back about talking while hold with left hand having bad call qaulity. Not the article I read, but essentially the same has same graph/chart http://qz.com/774075/your-smartphone-performs-better-in-one-hand-than-the-other/
I know when I lay down I tend to switch hands so...just a thought
Hello,
No problem with the sound quality when calling. Sound is crisp, no distorsion whatsoever.
I really LOVE that phone

I have no issues with call quality. I'm running a v20 at some time. That has HD voice and when that works is superior, but generally not that different. I miss Wifi calling.
