Pie Mic oddity on TMobile S8+ - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discus

So S8+ recent TMobile Update...
Used to use LINE App and Voice, large family, we used to Conference call while we were all playing same game, or doing diff things, always worked great.
Since Pie Update, unless LINE is Active Window on S8+, all Microphone, Regular, Bluetooth, Wired etc cut out, we can still hear each other, but unless LINE is active, well nobody can hear you as all Mic is cut off from LINE. Brother (same phone/carrier) says same is happening with Discord, I dont use Discord Voice, so cant confirm.
This all worked fine before Pie Update, nothing I know of amongst all of us on Droid in LINE has changed. The odd Apple few in group all of course making fun of us, lol.
Anybody else seen this as yet or a fix, work around for it? Been through settings in Pie & LINE numerous times, not seeing any answers.

Oh all stock, not Rooted. Family of 11 Siblings, from Germany to London to all over US, why we liked LINE for Family Voice, games, we could all talk, play etc together, was always fun. Now with Mic Function only if LINE is Active, kind of took all the fun out of Family Battles etc. inside games, plus being able to multitask while chatting, anything we do outside of LINE being Active Window/App, Mic is completely cut off.

Google voice

Anyone had any issues with google voice? I have had phone calls not come through every so often, and contacts not blocked end up in the spam folder. Only fix I found was to deactivate my Sprint number and re-activate it 15 mins later on Google Voice. Friend has a Nexus S 4G and can not contact her unless I have google voice activated and even then it will go back and some contacts. If anyone has issue like this let me know.
i never really had an issue with google voice, but whenever i did have some sort of issue the first thing sprint reps would ask is "are integrated with google voice?" seems like they want to blame that first for any tech problems.
i got a new ns4g yesterday and decided ditch googlevoice, the novelty has worn of for me
Canadians' reply to American question
G'day,
You asked about Gvoice problems.
Not sure if your situation can be considered contextually similar to mine as I am doing a bit of trickery to be able to use the voicemail section from Canada.
The relevant problem for me is similar to your spam thing. Very rarely, and randomly to boot, voicemail left for me will vanish ... I only know it was left for me because the leavers informed me. No hint whatsoever that it ever happened.
Aside from that its been good to have a voicemail that can SMS me, transcribe to text and just overall be what I thought my OVERPRICED carriers voicemail should be. Already pay far too much for cellular anything in my opinion.

Please let us know how you managed to get it working in canada
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm not sure how he does it but I have my Nexus on Boost and supposedly you can't use Google Voice mail on a prepaid service but mine works. All I did was go through the setup on the google voice app and set it to be my voice mail...I didn't set up anything through the online settings from my computer. But the funny thing is if I reject a call myself it will send it to my Boost voicemail....if I let it just ring out, it will go to Google Voice mail. Don't know if that helps in your case but it works for me.
Story of the guy who thought in circles !!!

Well ... Joke was on me !!
At first I thought I had discovered the Holy Grail ... (fool ... I am I am) I erroneously thought that I could beat the system by forwarding unanswered / phone off type calls to Google Voice, then use "Google Voice Callback FREE" app to "intercept" the "outgoing" forwarded call.
Damn ... worked really well in my coupla tests with friends etc but I quickly realized, once my online call log was posted (roughly 3 hour wait plus or minus) I was essentially just calling Google Voice using INTERNATIONAL LONG DISTANCE ... not good, I was prepared to eat the coupla minutes there, so not ready to fall on sword or anything just yet LOL
( Must have been on some heavy drugs 'cause I never stopped to realize that the forwarding is out of my hands and done at the carriers end FIDO.ca in my case)
Unless there is a way to do forwarding LOCAL to the phone or maybe have it answer THEN redirect the call using tasker or some other programmatic method I think I'm stumped ... of course I'm stumped just like the rest of us Canucks. LOL
I have a long distance plan that gives me free minutes to the US that I never use ... tried setting my voicemail # in Android to dial it ... then pause (tried comma and semicolon) then dial my Gvoice number ... No go there ...
Aaaaaargh ... lotta wasted time really without thinking it thru b4 hand AND here I was thinking that I had figured it out, so I posted that yesterday.
So out of all this blah blah blah Coupla questions
1. Is the forwarding TRULY out of my hands and done at the carriers end?
2. is there SOME way I can redirect incoming unanswered calls locally on my phone so that "Google Voice Callback FREE" app can intercept it?
Sorry to get any hopes up with my "genius" non-discovery

budphone.ca cheesy interface with ads BUT voicemail & Canadian Long Distance free
Me again,
For those too cheap ...like myself, to pay even more for voicemail. I got this in a tweet a while back and ignored it thinking I could get the Gvoice thing going "somehow".
budphone(dot)ca
Labatts breweries wants our "consumerist" attention so thru freephoneline.ca they are offering this ... get a phone number and long distance calling to many cities in Canada + voicemail + forwarding to normal phones + coupla other things ... go see if you're interested. I dont work for BUD or Labatts BTW. I just like the free voicemail ...1 day only so far.
I signed up and it is OK for me for now. I really only wanted the voice mail. It does give me an alternate phone number too ... without affecting my current FIDO cell plan.
I already have long distance at $.25 per call in North America no matter how long the call is ... (dial a number ... pause ... dial target number. Works on cellphone homephone etc.
I haven't left it off the hook for days or anything to see if the "no matter how long the call is" thing is true, but hours on end is no problem.
This was called talk 25 with win-tel who now seems to primus.ca and it seems they've abolished that SUPER deal except for grandfathering AFAIK You can look there too to see if they offer any killer deals.
Whew ... lotta babbling there ... but might spark some Ideas perhaps?

Google Voice is available in Canada at the 403 (Calgary, AB) area code. Google will let you set it up if you sign up over a vpn. Buy yourself a cheap DID.

[GSM User] Call audio quality poor on other person's side

Hi guys,
First of all, I'm a GSM user running the latest OTA stock ROM and Baseband.
So I've been making more calls lately, and I keep getting complaints from people saying my voice is unclear and breaking up on them. I decided to do some experimenting, and have come to the conclusion that it is not my SIM, phone's mic, ROM, or the other person's problem.
I've noticed, when calling from my Razr M to another phone (let's call it Phone2), if I set Phone2 to mute, then my voice is heard perfectly fine on Phone2. If it's not muted, then Phone2 can barely hear what I am saying from my Razr M. The whole time, anything the person says into Phone2 is heard crystal-clear on my Razr M
I know it's not my SIM card is because I just went to the AT&T store today and replaced it
I know it's not the mic is because if I use GrooVe IP to place the call via VoIP, everything is heard fine on both ends
I know it's not the other person is because I've had at least 4 different people tell me they can barely hear me on their phones, and I've tested it myself by calling the other phones in my AT&T family plan, and my landline, and the issue still occurs.
I found that changing
Code:
persist.audio.mic=digital
to "analog" instead, helps a little because it makes the voice louder, but it doesn't help with the audio breaking up.
Reverting back to the older baseband (the one that is included in Matt's Utility 1.20) doesn't make a difference.
Does anyone else have similar experiences? Ideas for me to try? I'm especially curious to hear from other GSM users.

After Feb 25th-Google Hangouts video chat does not work over the T-Mobile LTE network

Google Hangouts video chat does not work over the T-Mobile LTE network. The texting and picture posting does, but not the video portion of the app. I have used multiple phones (My wife's phone and my own) and multiple carriers (ATT & Verizon) Google Hangouts works on Verizon and AT&T, but not on T-Mobile's network.
If I have my T-Mobile phone (LG G Flex) and my wife's T-Mobile phone (Samsung Note 3) hooked up to WI-FI, Google Hangouts will work, but otherwise all I see is the other parties Google+ Profile picture. If one of us is on WI-FI and the other is on T-Mobile, it doesn't work. If there are other people in the hangout, everyone will work unless they are using T-Mobile LTE at the time.
I've tried everything in order to get it to work. I rooted my device and installed GTalkEnabler as well as Xposed in order to get this feature back, but it still isn't working.
It was working on Feb 25th, but Feb 26th, it no longer would work.
In the LG GFlex thread on this issue there were a couple people having the same problem. I figured I would post this in a more generalized forum with a larger audience to see if there is anyone on T-Mobile that is either having this issue, or is not having this issue. I use it heavily and I know it isn't used widely everywhere, but hopefully this gains some more comments and we can figure this out hopefully allowing the feature back as a result.

[Q] Nexus 4 Cannot SMS

Here is the log of my chat with an AT&T rep:
http://pastebin.com/QU2BU09L
My wife gets texts from co-workers/friends which are mostly not on att, but cannot send to my line or my mom's line (she's on the same account too)
I should mention, this phone worked perfectly well until a recent Google Play services update which affected some devices by disabiling audio on incoming/outgoing calls. The solution that I found to work for this Nexus 4 was to disable the "Checkinservice" service from the Play framework which seems to have correct the call audio issue - so then I thought maybe its now affecting texts and re-enabled the service, no luck on texts but it's also not affecting calls anymore with the service on.
I have googled around a lot, but most similar issues involved people not being able to text at all.
Also, I should perhaps note that I have wiped all the partitions and re-installed CyanogenMod from scratch twice now and still the same thing. It's been on CM for a good year + with no issues at all until recently. Besides the chat with at&t I called as well, the person on the phone seemed even less knowledgeable than the online gal.

Peel Smart Remote suddenly turned on, played content on smart HDTV, Galaxy S5 SM-900V

Wanted to find out if any of you know how this is possible or has happened to you: Bride & I both have Verizon S5's, same rev, 900V, mine is rooted via your excellent instructions here, hers is not. This weekend, she was @ her parents' house & her phone's content suddenly started playing on a nearby Vizio smart HDTV! Pretty sure she's on Marshmallow (6.0). This was accompanied by a message on her phone that appeared to be from Google, stating her phone had a virus. Research indicates this may be nothing @ all but a pop-up. Her phone's wifi was on & connected to the parent's Cisco/Linksys router. No messages or weirdness since then.
Makes me wonder if there was something enabled on the smart TV to automatically pair or stream. I know Google Cast can also run on these phones & do similar things. Who knows...sadly I wasn't there to examine the blast zone.
Today, my rooted S5 suddenly had the Peel Remote control panel show up in the swipe down notification area, after I throttled on wifi on the phone. The custom ROM I'm using was supposedly debloated & deodexed, but I've noticed I still have all the Verizon factory apps, NFL, Amazon, & Audible apps...just hidden or turned off. I'm on Lollipop (5.0). Peel wasn't listed in the hidden or disabled apps, I just happened to find it running in Application Manager. What the heck? Granted, I haven't caught back up w/ you guys to disabled the bootloader so Verizon can't push updates to my phone; we have the newer "11" CID that's a much tougher nut to crack.
I happened up this thread & it appears to allow us to finally crack the bootloader for CID 11:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../testers-required-easier-root-method-t3561529
Do ask that you please share w/ me one piece of guidance: which ROM would you recommend for busy Mom & Dad w/ a busy tribe who don't do social media, don't do sports, don't do buying on their phones. Just using our S5's for texting, phone, occasional YouTube, occasional web, Google Maps, mobile hotspot. Greatly appreciate yooz guys!
Peace.
