Thanks!
Was able to flash successfully via Magisk and after a reboot, I can hear sound come out of the ear piece. It is very quiet and can't really hear it unless I cover the main speaker, but of course that little speaker is limited by its own hardware. Can it go any louder? Obviously only if its safe to do so!

Btw, I can't seem to flash it on Magisk successfully so I had to do it via TWRP

Pretty weak actually. but still useful cuz you could still hear your music if you try to completely block the main speaker.

Hola
Many thanks for sharing this with us. Question: If we update our ROM every week or so, will we have to flash the mod again?

Depends. As magisk runs systemlessly, the module should just apply itself after an update, so long as you flash magisk again when updating the rom. However out of all my modules, there are a couple that don't stick (viper, vanced YouTube) and these need manually reinstalling/enabling.
So we'll see...

If the magisk module is installed, then when updating it will be applied by itself.

Hello, Nice job, is it yours? I have a project the past week that I try to achieve this, but it is not the same as Mi8 so if you have just changed the Mi8 version I think that it will not completely work.

Version with the same lines as you broke bluetooth connection on custom firmware, yes it's mine

Very good m8. It works here on 9.4.11. the earpiece sound is kind of quiet but pretty sure that is hardware limitation.

Terrible hissing while listening to music/calling

Hi, I have just received my X7500, and I'm very satisfied with it, except for a thing: the audio quality.
During the calls (with the stock wired headphones) there is a noticeable hissing sound, and when I listen to music or watch a movie with my in-iear UE Super.fi 5 pro sometimes (in the parts with low music) the hiss is higher than the notes!
Is it normal? I hope not, because If it is so, I will have to sell my Athena, because I have bought it also to replace my mp3 player, and the audio quality of athena is simply unacceptable.
Is there any way to solve this issue?
Please let me know your experiences!
No, that's not normal. I don't have such hissing sound. Try changing the headset.

It's not an headset issue, because my super.fi 5 pro work great with the mp3 player.
I'll have to call the customer support I think... but I have just flashed AP touch dual.
How can I go back to WM5?
Thanks again, eagle

the rubber goes deep into the ear. They are a kind of earphones that deliver great sound and a total acoustic isolation.
The hiss is really annoying if I use these, and its volume is independent from the playback volume. If I set the volume at 0 in poscket music I can hear the hiss only! I think it's an hardware problem at this point...

[MOD][N5] Surround Sound

A mod originally made for the Note edge by @ sshafranko and now ported to the nexus 5 head on over to the original thread here , and Im merely helping him out here at the N5 forums
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/development/mod-sm-915t-surround-sound-t2955648
This mod will activate you front earpiece speaker in conjunction with the rear main speaker any time Speaker mode is used for example playing music, watching movies, shows, you tube and so on, creating an almost surround sound type of effect.
Please keep in mind that this mod is for the T Mobile Note Edge variant. This modifies the mixer_path.xml file in you system/etc folder. This .xml file varies device to device and even carrier to carrier. I have not tested this on International or any other carrier Note Edge, and i used the T Mobile .xml file as my base. Therefore i don't know if it will work on any other carrier although i will say that there is a better chance of it working on another U.S. carrier than there is on International. If you decide to try it please have your rom backed up in case of a boot loop, and before you flash the zip or extract and push the .xml file to your system, rename your original mixer_paths.xml to mixer_paths.xml.bak so that you have your original easily accessible. There is a slight chance that if you pm me your mixer file i can mod it for your variant, and maybe add it to the thread assuming it doesn't work for you and i have some spare time.
PREREQUISITES
A Rooted Galaxy Note Edge Nexus 5
Custom Recovery Installed. I tested on TWRP 2.8.1.1
A set of human or alien ears (animal may also work but have not been tested by me)
DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible in any way, shape, or form, directly or indirectly for anything good or bad that happens to your device do to your modifications using my surround sound zips. Please do not inject, ingest or insert these zips anywhere on or in your body, they are meant to be flashed in a custom recovery on your Note Edge Beast. HAMMERHEAD BEAST
INSTALLATION
STEP 1: Download the sound mod zip
STEP 2: Boot to recovery by using modded shut down menu, Power Toggles type Widget, or simply turn your phone off. Once completely off hold Home, Volume up and Power buttons simultaneously which will then boot your recovery.
STEP 3: Navigate to the Sound Mod Zip of your choice and flash it. I don't believe it is necessary to wipe caches with this type of mod, but i would suggest it. Any time i am in recovery i take the opportunity to wipe caches and fix permissions, almost as a maintenance type of habit.
If you used CF root to root your phone you may be having some issues mounting the cache partition. There are 2 ways to fix this, both worked for me, the first of which may or may not work for you and is very simple to try and the second more involved.
1) Wipe Dalvik Cache ONLY. Now wipe Cache ONLY. Now wipe both Dalvik Cache and Cache. If this worked for you, you will now be able to wipe caches without mounting errors.
2) Begin from scratch and re-root your phone except this time DO NOT use Chainfire's CF Root. Odin TWRP recovery, make sure you have a zip of SuperSU 2.16 i believe it is on your sd. Once TWRP is odined, boot to recovery and inject (flash) SuperSU. When booted you will most likely be prompted to update SuperSU as i believe there was an update today, assuming you are injecting 2.16. These steps are only for those having troubles flashing do to CF Root braking TWRP. If this has been fixed, i apologize and please ignore, as i have not checked today.
Post your experience with this mod here, any issues, requests and so on, and i will try to get back to you as soon as time allows. Happy flashing and i hope you all like it. It took me 5 hrs to figure out the correct code for the device and play scenarios in mixer_paths to get this working correctly, and a bunch of testing to get it bug free but well worth it. Hope you guys share my enthusiasm with this mod.
Known Bugs: Sound plays from earpiece speaker while headphones are connected. FIXED
Please let me know if you find something i missed. Thank You.

OK. So comparing this to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...od-best-audio-mod-nexus-5-fosseperme-t2621736
It's like a massively loud version of that. Too increased. The speakers can't handle it. It gets too distorted. At the max volume. Near the middle is where it sounds at max without distortion. A bit past it is where the phone starts to sound different.
In other words, still nice.
Just keep the volume low, lol.
will it work on 4.4.2 ?
Agreed with @Curiousn00b 100%. The front speaker can't handle high volume. About 1/4, maybe 1/3 volume is its limit before getting distorted. After that it's just really badly distorted. No disrespect to the person who made the mod, I really like the idea. I might keep it though. Depends. I usually have an AUX cord or headphones plugged in, so it isn't an issue. If I find myself having to turn up the volume for things like random videos I watch online, I'll revert. Otherwise I'll keep it. Thanks for sharing.
Disclaimer: Do not leave music playing on your front speaker with the volume on high. I was worried mine was going to blow after about 5 seconds on max. Then again I tested with Damian Marley & Skrillex, so...

I confirm, I also in my rom I use it in combination with the DSP is no distortion. I was the first to test this mod since the creator has sent me a preview in pvt, but I immediately coupled with DSP .... If you want in my thread has a version that integrates Surround, and DSPManager Camcorder Audio Stereo Fix 6DB.
Surround with soft speaker/headphone boost merged with DSPManager Material and Camcorder Advanced Audio Fix Stereo 6DB.

My wife and I had audio issues the other day with ours as well (6T to 6T on Tmo).
It went away when I connected my in-car Bluetooth.
But I have had a couple other calls with no problems, so I'm not quite sure what caused the problem.

When you say weird noise do you mean when the other person says something the sound kind of pops and crackles? My wife and I both have the T-mobile 6t and have this issue, but only through the ear piece. No problems if I use my Bluetooth headset.
I did a test today though were I called a friend who is on AT&T with a Samsung phone and didn't experience the noise.
Edit: Just did another test. I first called my wife to verify we still had the noise. Then I went in to my "Sim and Network" settings and changed preferred network type to "2G/3G (Automatic)". This keeps the phone from making "HD+" calls. I also had calling over wifi disabled. After making those changes the noise is gone. So the issue seems to be a problem with the HD+ call and the earpiece. I specify just the earpiece since Bluetooth and other headsets don't have the same problem with HD+ calls.

Same issues here. Phone-to-phone the audio quality is terrible (6T to 6T on T-Mo). Bluetooth through the Jeep when my wife is driving is fine.
Yes, it's a crackling when speaking, no noise when quiet. My wife said I sounded like "robot voice."
Hope they fix this because the phone is pretty much unusable as a phone like this.
Based on this thread, it looks like they have acknowledged it is an issue.
It seems to be an on-device VOLTE problem.

Note 20 Ultra + two JBL Charge 4 sound distortions, cracking sound

Anyone else have the same setup and have sound problems?
I can connect to 1 speaker without getting cracking sound, but as soon as I connect the second speaker, distortions and cracking sound begins. Tried factory reset speakers, also tried switching main speaker, party mode and stereo mode, same results =/
Its Note 20 Ultra related, cause our Galaxy S20 or Tab S6 do not create this sound error when they connect to the same JBL Speakers.
They're bt?
Connections>Bluetooth>Advanced
Play with the settings there.
I don't know if it can solve the issue, but if it's Bluetooth connected, you can first try to disable absolute volume in the developer settings.
For it to work a reboot of the phone may be needed.
It basically makes the volume control of the Bluetooth devices independent of the phone's one, but oddly enough it changes the sound quality for the better on my side, and I've read it can solve some issues.
Sounds like bandwidth problems.
Might be the n20u is struggling to keep the data rate up.

OK, Ill look into that. However this doesnt seem to be volume affected, cause its making interferance sound on low and high volumes. I think it makes less interferance when music isnt as intesive though...

Yeah. Today I tried connecting both speakers at same time with its own bluetooth connection to the phone, and it worked flawlessly. But when I use dual Bluetooth from phone, I dont get the speakers in Stereo mode, so it looses the entire point of having two of these JBL speakers. When I connect to one speaker and have the audio link to the next speaker with JBL connect, the interfernence, cracking noise starts at once. Almost like its loosing connection. And it doesnt matter if its close or 10 meters from speakers. Also tried disconnecting my SmartWatch from phone, disabled Wifi, mobile data and lots of stuff.

It took me about 5 hours to measure the best result that should compensate most if not all volume levels.
It is supposed to only work with the Nothing Phone 1 to sound as intended.
Resonancy from the ear-piece is more likelier to appear but not concerning, as it is just air causing interference with the grill.

1. Download the App Wavelet from Playstore. Wavelet is free, without battery or privacy concerns and pretty smart.
It knows what device you currently use and switches profiles accordingly.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=wavelet&c=apps
2. Enable legacy mode in Wavelet on the Symbol bottom left and apply all values that you can see in the Screenshot. (Channel balance can be turned off, if you prefer higher volume instead of better Stereo-seperation in Landscape.)

3. Enjoy actual music and have fun.
Will check the app out! Cheers
Thanks for sharing that it sounds wayyy better! Been using Wavelet for the last few weeks for headphones but didn't think to play around so much with custom stuff
Wow thank you! It really is like night and day.
Spectacular. Thank you!
What a difference that made. Massive music improvement. Thanks for sharing
This sounds so much better, thanks!
Yes, thanks a lot.
Difference is impressive yes, but it's weird with this settings i have some tracks (music) crackeling, hope it's just saturated frequencies, not push so much the loudspeakers.
Does this only affect sound through the speaker or will the settings affect my bluetooth audio as well?

the crackling you hear is air created by interferences with the grill that stops dust and dirt particles and only appears on the earpiece for me. i'm pretty sure that a damage is highly unlikely to appear by these distortions. the phone even on stock is borderline distorting at max volume.
from my experience this varies heavily on the genre you pick. i tend to have most crackling when listening to male singing or podcast voices but nothing when listening to drum n bass or dubstep tracks for example. i rarely listen at max volume though. it works with all stock ringtones too.
i designed this EQ curve to work with all volume levels but most importantly to be focused around 40% to 70%, because this is the volumerange i mainly listen to when watching youtube or gaming.

Simply brilliant, makes the phone's audio quality up to a great level either to speaker or headphone. Nicely done mates!
Will this work if set once and forgotten, even if the app isn't running in the background?
impressive. This sounds so much better. Nothing has to read this thread and make this equalizer changes part of the firmware, this is such a big improvement
Definitely an improvement!
Brilliant. Thank you!
