Unlock LG v20 Android Oreo - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Good morning,
I need to know who knows how to Unlock the Lg V20 with android oreo the version of Sprint model LS997a :crying:

if you mean unlock as in unlock the bootloader to root, you do not. You thank sprint for making it so locked down that their model has been unrootable for a long long time. NO, you can't simply go back to a rootable version, physical fuses preventing that have been tripped.

AT&T G6 Root?

Is there such a thing? If not is it possible there will be in the future?
the first g6 variants to see a root will be the bootloader unlockable versions (not att).
the non-unlockable versions can all be grouped into another category.. so a root that works for say... Verizon G6 will also most likely work on AT&Ts, Sprints, etc. So.. if/when you see the non-unlockable variants getting root.. your phone should also be able to get root.
It's impossible to say whether a root or bootloader unlock exploit will be made public for the locked LG G6 variants until it happens.

Question about root timeframe

So now the v30 is announced now and will soon be available to purchase my question is in regards to LG root time frame on new devices. I know each device can have it's own time before root can be achieved, Based on the V10 and V20 root method how long generally does it usually take to find out if root is even possible?
1) in past experience between V10 and V20 how long was it generally from release date to root method? few weeks, months?
2) has G6 been rooted at all? gives kinda an indication if root would be possible in V30
Thanks for the help, again, not asking a ETA or anything like that, just want to know on past experiences with the V10 & V20 how long it took before root was possible and if root is even possible or not.
If you get a V30, you might want to get the carrier free model straight from LG. No carrier branded LG G6 has been rooted yet, and since even T-Mobile no longer allows the bootloader to be unlocked, even if a kernel exploit is found (like dirtycow), you will also need someone to leak a engineering bootloader like they did for the V20. If someone wouldn't have come up with the eng. aboot, the only two V20s that would have root are the H918 and US996.
Have a look-e-see yourself: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development
The only model that has root is the US997 carrier free version that LG allows for the bootloader to be unlocked.

Get used to the idea root aint happening. If it does, its a bonus. You are looking at it wrong.
Or, get an HTC.

Bootloader Unlockable!

Greetings,
Since I cannot afford to buy a V30, I decided to buy the V20 but
at the moment I hear some V20 variants are no longer "Bootloader Unlockable"!
Can someone please tell me what version / model number I can buy that
its bootloader is unlockable?
Thank you.
unlocked US996 -- guaranteed that you can unlock the bootloader, and have all fastboot commands.
Baring that, the only other model that is guaranteed rootable even on the latest firmware (which just came out) is the H910 (AT&T model).

Still waiting for a Root (LG K425) K10

A couple people in this thread for the LG K10 said they are getting closer for this model, any update on this model, would love to root it.
Ur bootloader is unlocked ?
Me too; I really don't care about the bootloader being unlocked but at least if I could have factory firmware without all the ATT bull**** installed, that would be great. What would be insanely good is if someone could figure out how to get the TMobile firmware on this guy so I can use LTE-Voice and WiFi calling.

[Q] Unlock Bootloader on Converted US997

So I have a US997 that has it's bootloader unlocked and while the current available custom ROMs are great, they aren't very stable for me and some features don't work like they should. LG hasn't officially released Pie for the American model yet (hopefully yet isn't never) so I attempted and succeeded in converting my US997 into a Canadian H873. Though unfortunately, I lost my unlocked bootloader. I then went back to official US997 software and the bootloader was unlocked once again.
Is it possible to use say H873 firmware on a US997 while keeping the bootloader unlocked for TWRP and Magisk? I tried unlocking it again on H873 firmware but due to the way it was flashed, it wouldn't get detected by my PC in ADB or Fastboot mode, so it may or may not be possible to do so that route.
Thanks
