[Help] SM-G935T Bricked? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello,
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Tmobile - Unlocked (Came with T mobile bloatware)
I had bought SM-G935T unlocked, I was using it with Lycamobile and I wasn't getting proper reception. I played around with ODIN and installed SM-G935U then SM-G935T again but this time, I updated to 8.0.
After flashing, I cannot make phone calls, cannot receive phone calls, cannot use LTE or mobile data network. Tried with other sim cards but nothing works. Wifi and Bluetooth works fine, everything else works fine in the phone.
Can someone help?

I flashed everything a couple of times.
even Home CSC and CSC (nonhome)
Took it to Samsung customer care, they flashed it a couple of times too.
Still no Network (no calls - outgoing/incoming and no Mobile internet), However sim gets recognised - ATT, Tmobile, lyca, Ultramobile

So what should I do? I think when the phone came it was SM-G935(F).
Should I Install Latest Sm-G935F?
Or if its something else, can you share link?

if the hardware id a G935F, then flash the most current G935F firmware on it, factory reset in recovery afterwards, profit, go have a sammich because you fixed your phone make sure you do this in exactly this order, the last two are optional, but recommended

you can flash any G935 firmware to any G935 device and it will boot as long as the kernel is written for the type of processor you have in your device. If its a snapdragon, any snapdragon G935 tar.md5 will work and boot, likewise with the xynos based tar.md5's. Ive flashed a G935f on a G935V before and it worked fine

T-Mobile Firmware for AT&T

Hi guys,
I wanted to make sure if this version is compatible with my AT&T S7 edge (SM-G935A)
Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/odin-apk1-tmobile-tmbg935ttmb4apk1-t3494724
Can you guys tell me if this works fine on the att phone? I have bootloader version 2. I'm getting tired of the ATT version that blocks the cool features (e.g. Identify unsaved callers)
Also, can you guys tell me which version of Odin works best with this firmware (don't want to get fail and brick my phone)
I hate to say this, but I think my phone stopped receiving updates from ATT (because I don't want to keep changing my sim card, my sim card is T-Mobile(Metro) and I read the threads that said that in order to update they have to put the ATT sim card. I don't want to do that since my sim card keep coming out of the card (atleast I got in the tray and works)
Anyways, can someone confirm this is compatible with the firmware?
Thanks

Yes you should be fine. I did use this particular on my 935a ATT S7 Edge. Only thing that did not work on my behalf was Wifi Calling. Since you have a TMobile sim in an ATT phone it could work. The Odin I used was Prince's Odin in the Root thread.

Thanks! Well, first of all, my bootloader version is 2. Should I download the T-Mobile firmware bootloader v2 or the latest one(v4)?
One question, whats the difference between home_csc and csc? Is it wiping data? Does using home_csc works with it? If not, I am fine to try csc version.
Honestly I have to check when I get home. Currently at work still. With bootloader you can always upgrade but you can NEVER downgrade. It would result in a fail.

Can someone send me in the right direction - G930V --> G930U?

I have tried multiple zips to try to get the U software on my phone but always ends up not booting. It will show galaxy S7 and then boot straight back into recovery.
Can someone please provide a link to the exact download files I need. Sorry to start a thread over this. I'm just having a hard time finding the correct files. Thanks in advanced.
Anyone?
It should be as (simple) as..
Rooting your phone -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039 (this won't trip KNOX)
Downloading the proper firmware from SamMobile -> https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930U/
Flash the firmware via odin (you can use the same method found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065)
Profit
I just did this recently to switch from SM-G930R4 to SM-G930V
Note, you will lose all data on the phone if you try this.

Go to Updato.com and get the newest SM-930U firmware from January and flash via Odin. The 930U firmware you flash must have a bootloader the as or newer than your current firmware or it will not boot. You do not have to root to update via Odin.

Less boat , no Verizon boot animation, and my favorite the spam dialer Verizon thought was a good idea to remove. I like to think of the U as pure Samsung vs the Verizon gimped software.

Bootloader is locked because it is a snapdragon variant. Only downside is can think is you would have to pay your bill in store or on a PC. Lte seems the same. Yes if nougat is on. You just load up the most recent U firmware and flash over nougat in odin.

it shoudl be simple...but it failed for me in one of my two phones. now it keeps going to recovery (downloading the original firmware to reflash it). the one that worked was a SMG930VZDA (made in vietnam) while the one that didn't is a SMG930VZKA (made in korea). I hadn't updated either one from the original firmware, but not sure what firmware they came with....
so if it works, it's great, but if it fails...
I used the instructions and file in

You can still use the My Verizon app to pay, if you want to. You do lose Verizon's native VVM app, but there are workarounds to use Voice or another third-party VVM app (I personally use YouMail).

Hey your right! One less hassle.
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new g930r4 (US Cellular) because my last samsung got stolen. Anyway, the first time I turned on the phone, I started having multiple issues (kept rebooting, unable to recognize headset, kept freezing). Then I decided to change it to the g930U firmware and I noticed a HUGE difference. I totally recommend this to anybody that has same problems I mentioned. Thanks to all the information from this post, I was able to successfully flash the firmware. Thank you all for the support! I hope this helps someone out there whos still got some doubts.
Hello, I have the SM-G930V Snapdragon variant in the US and I would really like to root it to get a custom ROM. If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate a reply (if you have one) to this thread I made on the topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/help/questions-bootloader-rooting-custom-t3721109

SM-G950FD Official ROM

I have just acquired the international factory unlocked Galaxy S8, model number SM-G950FD duel sim, and don't see that specific variant on Sammobile official rom downloads. There are many SM-G950F downloads and correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume they would work, only problem is don't know which region I should use. There are 7 or 8 different regions with the matching PDA and CSC sequences as mine, but does it matter which one I choose? Just want to be sure I have the proper "official" backup rom before I venture into rooting etc.
Have searched this thread and the net to no avail.
Any advice and clarification on this would be greatly appreciated!
G950FD is a variant of G950F. But still I'm not sure if you can flash it or not because modem, bootloader and baseband are exact model number exclusive. Btw Sammobile is not official provider of stock rom. You can try using Samsung's official app.
OK thanks! Now when you say "try using Samsung's official app", do you mean Smartswitch for Windows or Kies 3 or something other?

So sure enough I locked myself out of my phone after rooting (don't ask) only access was download mode, so I tried SmartSwitch and it got me back up and running! So thank you very much for the tip "undercontr"!
Only thing I would suggest is to ensure you have your phone's serial number (required for SmartSwitch) on hand. Because other than acquiring from the dialer code, the only other place is on the sticker on back of phone....it's not on the box. So keep your sticker in a safe place when you remove from back of phone!

If you're not hanging around forbidden stuff in Android, you should always stick to official stuff. Stability is greater in that way.
I wouldn't root my device if it has still warranty.

(sorry I am noob, cannot post formatted hyperlink): updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model is good for downloading firmware.
And thanks to everyone here! - I was coming to ask same question: Would I brick my SM-G955FD by flashing SM-G955F software.. (to enable native WiFi Callling/VoWiFi by fllashing to a region which does not have SM-G955FD specific firmware).
Can you get like a another sim tray and use sd card? I'm presuming its the same as F and no real changes tbh

I just downloaded it and it looks like it has the US Cellular USERDATA and not AT&T's. I will refrain from flashing for the moment.

Are you using a T-Mobile sim? Was you prompt to reboot your phone once you completed flashing? If so, it probably changed to T-Mobile on it's own.

Yes I'm on Tmo, but I've never had this issue come up when carrier switching, ever. currently shows as tmb/tmb/att This is the first time I've ever seen this happen.

It's happened to me before with a T-Mobile s8, I was using AT&T and it changed to AT&T firmware on it's own. What causes the change, is the auto preconfig. It has to be disabled with BK package app before inserting the sim.

Fair enough, I will reinstall the software without the sim inserted to see what happens. Like I said I've never had this happen before. I have flashed this from att to xaa version before with the sim still inserted, and it stayed as an unlocked usa variant.
What you're proposing is that the auto preconfig is doing this in the back end when the phone is factory reset to default? I'll report back in a few minutes.

Unfortunately, you're stuck. I was only reporting what I had to do, to avoid your current situation, but you didn't know. So, you're stuck on TMB for now.
Still Tmo, so somehow I've downloaded a firmware that gives me tmb/tmb/att using both of the links provided.

It is weird, because T-Mobile hasn't even released their latest firmware yet. So it's definitely not TMB, just like venom0642 stated, it's AT&T Stock.

Android 11 decreased my SOT by close to 2 or 2.5 hours. Wanting to flash back to Android 10 (HELP)

So I just bought a used Galaxy s10 Plus on eBay. I was getting amazing battery life and great SOT but I was forced to download Android 11 by force update and now my SOT has gone down almost 2.5 hours from when it was previously running on Android 10. I despise having to deal with these issues even though its a used phone. On the SamMobile website I found the correct PDA G975U1UES5GUD1 but I can't find the CSC code on my phone and I am afraid I will flash the wrong firmware and damage the phone.
How can I Find the CSC code on my phone? The device is been used on Verizon prepaid via Red Pocket Mobile and its Factory GSM and CDMA unlocked. I would really appreciate any help I can get with this.
Thank you so much in advance.
Hello there, you are talking about the consumer software customization code right?

If you are you can find it by dialing *#1234# on the dial app. But i think it is VZW since you've said the carrier is Verizon.

Seems like this is it since your carrier is Verizon. You are residing in the US, right?

You won't damage your phone if they mismatch, probably only carrier settings would break
But the link I gave according to that you are having Verizon as the carrier and you are living in the US when you got force OTA update then it’ll match.
That's if you can go back.
Doesn't 11 update the boot loader version too?
Well yeah now that you mention it probably.
Hmm, but there should be a way of degrading the software even so.

If he uses Odin he can downgrade fine enough,
Unfortunately, I think he'll lose his data though.
I haven't downgraded from One UI 3.0 before since I only got a A21s.

I'm still running Pie. It's what I've been seeing here about the 11 update updating the boot loader too. Maybe that's OTA upgrades only.
Not a concern of mine though.
Data loss is a given... at least be prepared for it.
Yeah, I agree since I'm still running 10 Idk really about bootloader changes from 10-11.
But if that's the case then Its probably impossible to downgrade without getting a bricked phone.
Doublecheck the bootloader version code of both versions of android so you don't brick your phone.
This is starting to sound too risky I do appreciate everyones help on this post honestly but at this point I am not going to risk messing up a $330 phone. But thank you all for making things clear.

Yeah hopefully thank you for your help tho. Appreciate it.
No problem, but if the kernel hasn't changed the ROM can be downgraded. If it has you can just take it to Samsung and ask them to downgrade for you.
My friend did that.
