Force 4g in s10+ - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Am kinda in an area where 4g is super fast and 3g is suppppper slow
Anyone knows how to force 4g in s10+?

You might be able to do that through secret codes but I wouldn't recommend it. There's a reason why your phone drops to 3G. It's probably because your LTE signal is too weak. If you forced your phone to LTE only you might end up with no signal at all. And if you're not in a VoLTE area you won't be able to make phone calls.
BTW there's a Q&A pinned on top for random questions. Easier than starting a new thread ?

Sorry didnt know bout the Q&A section
Anyways the 4G signal is great it just keeps droping to 3g
Any idea bout codes that may help?

Simple. Dial *#*#4636#*#*. Alternatively, just use the network app. It's basically a shortcut to phone info. Mine is set to LTE only. I'm from a place where every tmobile band is available, so connectivity is a nonissue.

For some reason *#*#4636#*#* is not working on my phone which is why I didn't suggest it. My concern with his specific case is that it did drop to 3G which causes concern. Mine never does. Would he not lose all data if LTE were not strong enough in his area?

This code doesn't work using the Samsung dialer. You can download the Google dialer port and then use the code and it'll work. This is one way you can force LTE always on. You will have to set the Google dialer as your default phone app and allow permissions as well as changing system settings.

How to combat T-mobile's 5GB soft cap

so as everyone knows knows T-mobile started to throttle speeds once a user passes 5GB of data. Well here is how to go back to unthrottled speeds.
Simply click menu-> settings -> Wireless & networks -> mobile networks
then you are going to want to click to use only 2G networks. Click back and wait till it connects to edge.
then go back and uncheck Use only 2G networks
(must repeat upon reboot)
You should now be connected to an throttled 3G network. Personally i was getting about 60 kbps before i did it and after i get around 2000 kbps.

Lol... guys, you do know there is already a thread about this in development, right?
You guys really need to learn to use the search button before posting duplicate threads.
I already had someone steal my work today but this looks unintentional and is a far inferior method to disabling the data cap (aka throttle). Check out development if you want a more permanent method...

You sure you put it in correctly sometime you have to put in ##3282## instead of ##3282# I thought that was a hard coded android thing though. It should be on all S3's heck it was on my old HTC Touch Pro 2 also and that didn't even run Android(well not officially anyway).
Try this (I used this on GNexus) and let me know if it works.
I know the dial code works, but I have T-Mobile so I don't have LTE.
*#*#4636#*#*
Click the "Device Information" tab
Scroll down to the drop down box and change it.
There is an LTE only option as well as LTE/WCDMA.
Give it a second to register. You can also click "turn off radio", wait a minute or so, it'll turn off. Click it again, wait a minute or so and it'll turn the radio back on. Usually jumps the change into effect. If you lose radio and it never comes back, switch it back to whatever you were using before.

That's funny I just started playing with the Testing menu you just posted before you posted it. I was about to post it when you beat me to it. By putting it on LTE only I think it kept my voice while giving me only LTE. I am going to have to drive around and test it and see if it ever goes to 3G or not. That might be the option. There is an widget that will take you to that menu without the code by pressing the 4G toggle on the widget. You can download it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...rch_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5qaW0yIl0.
none of the codes listed works...
the second one dials a number...
It would be a pretty good bet that this issue is carrier-specific. (One more example of confusion in this mashed-together forum.)
The code mentioned for T- Mobile works.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Well I got my phone listed in my signature. I think the OP is talking about Sprint only but I am sure each carrier may have a specific way to get to the phone test menu. I know that app I posted took me to it.
As far as the LTE only trick in that phone testing menu, I think it works for a while but does not survive reboot meaning you will have to reapply it. Also mine switched back to lte/cdma/evdo after a little while possibly when I lost a 4G signal completely. So I think this partially works or they are still turning on towers because I am definitely keeping 4G and getting it a lot more places then I did have it earlier today.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Edit: After making a run to the Grocery Store, I had the "LTE only" selection made from the Phone Testing Menu drop down list. I lost 4G in one area then got it back by the time I got to the grocery store. On the way back I made sure it was set to LTE/CDMA/EVDO and I got the same exact signal everywhere. So I don't believe changing the settings on that drop down on that menu do anything at all. I am guessing the phone software overrides those setting somewhere else.

Yes. It's awesome. HD voice when speaking to others on tmo with capable phone. Connection is instantaneous. My phone now stays on LTE 24/7 vs switching to 3G/H when making a cell phone call. My SMS has also been turbo and is as instant as hangouts. All this since flashing 47D build (I flashed 47E too but went back to D because of a delay/lag when pushing power button for screen to come on). Tmo

Hi. I have a question for you. I'm a Tmo user as well. Does your APN say "T-Mobile GPRS" or something like "T-Mobile VoLTE". Thanks. I'm have the GPRS APN, I have Enhanced 4G LTE Mode enabled but I am having issues with my WiFi and Data fluctuating a lot, many time I get no connection while both WiFi and Data is active but I get a "No data connection" which will last for about 30 seconds or so before kicking in. This is getting really annoying. Just want to know if others are having the same issue on 5.1 Again thanks.

Band 4 (XLTE) on Verizon...

My Nexus 6P seems to be refusing to connect to band 4 which is Verizon's XLTE band in my area.(LTE discovery, Pure Nexus 11/10) My Moto Nexus 6 works just fine. Is this expected? Work around? Any advice/ ideas are appreciated.
I'm in latest MDB80M and connecting fine on Band 4.

Ok, thats good to know. I think it may be an issue wit Pure Nexus but I cant say for sure. I will troubleshoot some more. Thanks guys.
If you enabled Enhanced LTE option under Cellular Network and your device still refuses to connect to XLTE, call Tech support at verizon and have them add Advanced wireless option (Its free). When I switched phones on my account, that feature got dropped and tech support had to add back manually and now I am able to connect to XLTE on Band 4. But my download speeds are no where near as others have claimed
I went into my Verizon account and added Advanced Calling for free. It was not on my phone. I don't know if I had connectivity to Band 4 prior to that since I didn't check
Edit: Just to clarify, I currently have Band 4 connectivity.

Dial code to enter service menu?

I knew my Samsung dial code so I could go in and enable/disable certain LTE bands (band 12 is great for penetration for calls -but horrible on data speeds).
I would switch band 12 off while at work so I could get better speeds.

This worked, now to figure out how to turn on/off band 12 as needed
Figured it out
To lock to a specific LTE antenna go to field test, Modem settings, LTE band selection and choose the band (band 4 and 12 are right now the only ones for me in DFW)
Then to revert back to where the phone switches go back a menu and choose Network mode and set it to Auto
The other menu code is 277634*#*
also on the other one... 918 is the T-Mobile LG V20 variant, try your specific model for your carrier.
