Stuck in bootloop on TWRP 2.8.0.1 recovery with no OS. Galaxy Tab 4 T230NU. - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all, I'm a newbie when it comes to rooting and all this stuff.
I have spent the last few days scouring XDA and the rest of the web, but I am coming up empty.
I bought this Galaxy tab 4 for my brother. It was new but rooted with SU installed. He unrooted it and then decided he didn't like it that way, so he tried to reroot it and now it bootloops in TWRP recovery mode and says no OS installed.
My TWRP is version 2.8.0.1 and I tried to update to the newest version by flashing 3.2.3.0 img.
I can't get TWRP 2.8.0.1 to recognize .img or zip files.
I got my computer to recognize the device and pasted the .img file to the root of internal storage and still couldn't find it through recovery.
And from what I understand you shouldn't try to install a rom with an outdated TWRP, even if I could get it to recognize zip files.
I'm not sure what to do now. I'm really hoping someone can help me figure this out.
Thank you for your time

This happened to me on my SM-T230, all I did is I searched for a FirmWare then I installed it using odin

This one is for SM-T230NU, try it, it might fix your problem

Unable to boot into recovery after latest security patch, lost root.

after flashing the vendor image, i flashed the latest twrp. tried to reboot but unable to go into recovery and stuck in a black screen. Phone boots as normal but lost root. Phone can still be detected by pc, but when i go into bootloader it cant be detected and i flash back stock image. Any help will be appreciated.
Not entirely sure. I would start from scratch and follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928. I would jump to section 11 and go from there. I'm currently waiting for my cache to build after flashing latest stock image from google (MHC1). I followed section 9. Hopefully all goes well. I came from MMB29Q.

well everything went as expected for me. That guide has never let me down. If you're using a toolkit to update I would abandon it. That guide is my bible when it comes to anything regarding modifying the 6p. I have seen multiple threads about TWRP not "sticking" or stuck at boot etc, etc. In order for you obtain root again you're going to need to flash TWRP, boot into it, and flash SU 2.68. There is a test version of TWRP 3.0 floating around that I used with no issues. I'll try to find the link and post it here. If not, maybe another user can post it if they have it handy.

Thanks dude!
thx dude gonna give it a shot

Assistance needed - boot issues after an attempted upgrade

Couple days back, I factory reset my phone and when I went to upgrade it back to Lollipop it got stuck on my splash screen and never came out of it. While I do have TWRP installed, I didn't have the foresight to do a backup before upgrading and have tried flashing both cm-12.1.-20160627 and cm-13.0-20160723 both for the SM-G360H model.
Each time I attempt though it errors out with:
This package is for device: SM-G360H,SM-G360HU,core33g,core33gdd,core33gdx; this device is coreprimelte.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/Download/*whichever zip file*'
I'm 99% sure my phone is SM-G360H because I checked before installing TWRP roughly a month back but it's been a long week and I very well have missed something important in my haste to get my phone up and running again.
Any help or links are really appreciated.

Dude u should make sure that ur device is 100% sm g360h
Because wrong rom can mess up ur phone
SM G360H dont have 4g .check if it is like that in ur mobile network. You can also compare other diff too
If u are sure its not lte
Then change ro.product.device and ro.build.product to sm g360h/core33g in ur buildprop using es fileexplorer and flash the rom
I had the same problem before here how i fixed it ..i installed stock rom usin odin then i installed cm11 first then cm13... ..i counldn't install cm12 or cm13 directly from stock rom too without getting the error 7 . just make sure to install cm 11 first ...i know it does not make sense but that how i fixed now im using cm13
---------- Post added at 04:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:00 PM ----------
I forget ..just make sure that you have a clean download of the rom so the zip file is not corrupted.
try with CWM - not TWRP a was happy without "error 7"

Moto X pure Boot only recovery

Good Morning everybody,
so yesterday was a rough day and when it eventually end i recive the october security update on the phone, without thinking i installed it and the phone does not boot up , instead i face my recovery (TWRP 3.1.1-0).
Of course i've made a mess because i was on stock rooted 7.0 on my retEU XT1572 phone with unlocked bootloader and status 3
i've tryed to restore a previous nandroid backup wihtout success, so today i downloaded the new RESURRECTION REMIX v5.8.4 (4 december wich is based on stock android 7) but i have no luck even with that...
Do i miss something?is there any rom to try with now? or i have to make a downgrade of my firmware to make it work again?
thanks in advice!
UPDATE:
phone boot now but always in recovery and after rebooting in bootloader i can reboot system from there.. it seems that if you download an update and the install process doesen't go in place every time you restart the device it always try to re-flash it, that's why i'm always in recovery.. i foun a similar post with this solution but i think it need some changes before it will work on our device (but i don't have the knowledge to set it right :S )
LAST UPDATE:
boot fixed by using this command in twrp recovery
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/misc
misc file running at the startup redirecting the boot in the recovery, put blank in the file let the system boot up normally
You missed very much.

oh thanx man! i've already seen that post but i wasn't sure that it can work for me. i have some question befor starting:
1) i need the new twrp 3.2 to flash resurrection-remix? because as i mention before i've already tried to flash it with twrp 3.1 and it doesen't work (the rom is the same that you linked page40 post #397 )
2) do i have to flash stock-xt-1572-reteu-7-0-ddumped-files before point 1)?

1. I think so. 3.2.x will be needed for future builds.
1a. You flashed RR for MM modem.
2. No, but this is only way to get ota update.
"swearing in italian" it was a twrp bug.. after a backup restore if you hit restart the phone restart in recovery, you need to boot into bootloader and reboot system from there -.-
thanks to all of you guys!!
strange fact, now if i turn off the phone and again on i'm still on recovery, i have to reboot bootloader and system from there.
i think something is pointing at the recovery instead system..

Ota update didn't end.
I think you can try clear data & cache otaupdate app and disable it. Link2sd can help with it. @Husky34

you can also use link2sd to disable the update app so it doesn't bother you,
or wait untill someone create a zip of the update and flash it into recovery.
thanks, that worked for me as well.
File was located at /dev/block/platform/soc.0/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/misc

4.5.15 to latest - cannot get any rom to flash with recovery

I have a buddy with an out of date OP5 that I have been trying to get updated to 5.5.5 for him. I had him download the 5.1.5 official rom from the oneplus downloads, and that zip fails with the stock recovery that is currently installed. I then fastboot flashed and booted twrp 3.2.3.0 for cheeseburger and that also cannot flash the zip; it fails with error 7. So at that point I just started looking for a fastboot flashable package, but that doesn't seem to exist. So, the question is, what steps do I need to follow to get his phone up to 5.1.5 from 4.5.15? It has an unlocked bootloader.
What happens when you try a system update? The latest stable Firmware has Treble/Vendor partition support, maybe you need a recovery that supports it (I don't know if official TWRP does yet). Try the Codeworx or Blue Spark recovery, and wipe as many partitions as you can . Also, I'm not sure if you may need to flash an intermediate firmware version (5.1.4) first, I haven't tinkered with this phone yet, so not too familiar with it yet.

Error 7, only on slot B? Help

So i was flashing the stock rom to both A/B before flashing a custom rom, and successfully flashed oxygen then twrp installer to slot A, rebooted to recovery, but then when I tried to do it to slot B, i get this error 7 message. Ive looked around and can't seem to find a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated
What versions? What ROM? International 6T or TMobile?
Error 7 generally means the ROM is not compatible with that device. If you are sure it is you can remove this check if you know what you are doing. However this is generally not recommended.
Yes
What version of TWRP? Error 7 means most of the time that TWRP is to old to deal with the ROM flash script. Flash latest twrp 3.3.1-31 installer again and reboot to recovery
