Should have bought Oneplus 6 instead? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hey guys I think I made a mistake getting TMobile OP6T instead of unlocked 6. I never thought I would miss that headset jack as much as I do. I lost dongley thing already. But this phone is by far the fastest phone I ever had. Coming from S8+ and LG G7 this phone is amazingly fast.
So my question is: Is the OnePlus 6 as fast as 6T but with a 3.5mm jack?

They're the same device except the 6T drops the headphone jack and the regular fp sensor and bigger notch that's it. Same SD845, Same UFS 2.1 2-Lane, Same LPDDR4X RAM
OOS is the same "Performance Optimizations"

Thanks for your help, and you reminded me of another I hate: front fingerprint scanner. Thanks!

Right I hate it too straight up inferior.. At first it was okay but now it rejects my left thumb always and is slow/inconsistent

Isn't it supposed to get more efficient the more you use it?

Well I've had my 6T for 3 months and at first it's not a big deal touching it 2-3 times but now its so annoying. Face unlock works fine but for my apps that require FP is a real pain.

I sold my 6 when I got a free 6T,6 is better if not only for the headphone jack but also the fingerprint scanner, though Still loving the 6T for it's bigger battery, more storage than my 64gb 6.
Fingerprint scanner works better over time, not a big deal because face unlock works so well
Not gonna lie though,am keeping an eye on other phones like the Mi 9,maybe 7,Poco f2

Also got my eye on the Mi 9 waiting for the official pricing here in the UK, Poco 2 could be interesting but if it has ton of bleed like the first did I can't buy it..

Just buy a pair of Bluetooth earbuds/usb c headphones and use face unlock. Problem sorted!

Not sure why 6T has more bands than 6 even if both have the same hardware.

Percy don't even get me started on Bluetooth headphones I ALWAYS forget to charge them esp when I really need them. I have at least 5 pairs of them laying around here all dead! And since I don't have Bluetooth in my car I use my wired headphones to talk while I'm driving. Not sure if that's still legal.

Sorry to hear you lost your dongle, but it's 2019. Buy a damn BT headset already...

What I do is I keep the dongle attached to aux chord I am using. I even bought aux to USB c chord. Dongles are relatively cheap. I am not defending the loss of the aux port this is just how I adapt. Thankfully the battery life is excellent so charging and listening to music is not an issued to me

Eh Bluetooth is annoying outside of listening in my car. Can't pair more than one headphone, needing to charge the bloody headphones. I bought $30 pixel buds USB c. Yes I have Bluetooth capable headphones but I use aux to USB c when I do use them

Have you actually wiped the phone? You just said you installed roms.
Wow what the heck are you talking about?
Instead of complaining here, go buy a new iPhone and enjoy 24 days on one charge.

Have had this phone since around 4 months, for the most part, i love it.
It's my first Nexus, i can see the fascination, i can understand why people like it.
However............. That being said..................... I do have some issues.
I have a Moga pro pad, something which in itself isn't cheap, i used to use this on my previous phones, all of them (except my iPhone which thought it was a headset or something?, I have no idea what it thought it was, probably wanted to mate with it or rip it off or something)
Anyway, it's always worked, the thing even connected to my sketchy, but brand new Fire Tv Box, i was playing Mario Kart 64 on it, literally two days ago.
It used to work perfectly on my phone a few months ago and yet now? Nothing, i can't connect my Jawbone Prime, I can't connect my Moga Pro? I can't connect anything?
Is there something i'm missing? Is there a baseband image i've overlooked? OR not heard of as nothing has been said except a vendor? Of which i've installed!!!
Has anyone else had a similar experience? OR infact found a work around? Brought stability? Found a way to connect besides waiting for a whole day?
ROMS:
Resurrection
AOSIP
Pure Nexus
Dirty Unicorns
Beyond stock from these roms, there are no changes being made, I am literally installing and pairing? I'm sure it works, but jesus it takes too long, if it connects at all.
I've seen bluetooth fail, but I know it is not common, what could have changed, both of the devices i'm trying are both high end and work on other devices, as i'm writing this, it feels like hardware EE will be getting a harsh earbashing from me if this is the case.
Any help, relevant situations, similar appearances or happenings? Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated, i fail to see that Huawei, who actually deal with connectivity, would sell a unit with such a poor unit that it would fail within a few months?? If this is the case then they've made my decision to buy a P9 very simple, I won't. Cheap tat.
Any input, besides the derogatory kind is appreciated, although some derogatory input is sometimes hilarious, so i'll take that too.
Sorry, i've had a bit to drink, i'll edit the mental bits tomorrow, i'm just upset mate
Feel like beating someone to death with a clown show, with potatoes in the toes >: ( Proper venomous clown shoe pastings. For a few days whilst they work out why it broke in the first place, or just cancel my damn contract and let me just buy an M10 which i'm sure will be superb, jokers.
Not happy, sorry for moaning.
PS: EDIT: The battery on this phone ??? It's crap!!! All this SOT crap??? It's a load of bull, i get a day, at best 2? And that's when i have to work like a slave.
My M9 had better and that's saying something.
Whats worse!!! My iPhone 6 ( i know) ( they were £8 a month with work, it was so cheap i wanted to see what the fuss was about)
I'll share a pic now, you will be shocked, 8.1.3 IOS.
Nearly 5 days off one charge!!! Amazing, whatsapp installed, email, made calls,, played games?? All; of it.
However i'm not stupid, i updated it once, went from 8.1.3, to 8.2 and i lost over 20% in one night, just because wifi was on, reverted back as i backed up first, went back to my superb battery life.
I'll post a pic in a min, but that phone was like a marine, as much as i hate to admit it, it's just people abusing the device by overcharging and over apping and choosing poor OS's, I chose wisely and jesus, near 5 days on 1 charge, i was amazed. Performance and stamina. Never seen anything like it, made me sick that apple could acutally do that. : (
The nexus hasn't been optimized at all, that also annoys the crap out of me.

Same here, I am able to connect with other devices, my JBL Flip 3, and even my Moto 360 without a single drop.
Just flashed another rom, maybe it's my Moga? Odd. Running resurrection at the moment, think it's franco's kernel.
Just hoping it's not the device.

IR Blaster or not?

As the title says, because I really rely on my Note 4's InfraRed capability, not for TV Remote, but for Shutter Release on my Nikon DSLR Camera.
Not having an included IR Blaster could well prove a deal breaker on the S8.
Does anyone know if there is a workaround?

seems not a lot of people have used it , and that feature was not popular enough
In addition, it may cost a lot of money to include it, so they have decided to invest the money on another things

No ir blasters yet they continue to include the hear rate sensor. Do people really use the heart rate sensor?
Aww man, this just reminded me that I'm gonna miss using my IR blaster on my S6. T.T From what I know, I don't believe there's gonna be an IR blaster. I could be wrong, but if I'm not, RIP IR blaster.

I've heard that you can use it as another option for taking selfies with the front facing camera, at least that what the Samsung guy I talked to at Best Buy said, but besides that, I've only used the heart rate sensor a couple random times.

And it takes up space inside the phone. Your average person wants a huge display with a decent battery in a slim phone, they don't care about IR blasters in their phone.

No it's not. If the average consumer wanted them, they would be in the device. I don't know anyone IRL who uses them.

Chances are, the people here on XDA or those that understand specs and need the IR Blaster...are not your average consumers. People tend to choose a phone by brand marketing, how it looks and the screen size etc. Not everybody has a passion for technology or understands what RAM, SoC etc is and how it all works...they just want to use the phone. Apple don't push specs at all, they focus on what the average consumer needs/wants to know and it works for them.
It is really a niche feature. Doesn't mean that you or others don't want to have it, of course it's nice to have and I would have liked it too. It's just that Samsung have deemed it surplus to requirements, they don't think it's helping them to sell phones. They took away a less popular feature to save space, costs and maybe even improve the aesthetics. Annoying for some, but I'm pretty sure the majority wouldn't even notice.
yes. i'm sure the majority wont even notice the headphone jack is missing on iphone7 or people dont really care about headphone jack, that' why they took it away

The iPhone 7/7+ has sold very well despite the lack of a 3.5mm jack. You can still use 3.5mm headphones, you just need an adapter. And if the headphones have a lightning connector, those work fine. Even if they don't, the phone came with an adapter.
The IR blaster is dead along with CD's and VHS tapes. Line of sight device control is so 80's. Nothing I've purchase in the past two years relies on IR. Most are Wi-Fi or BT controllable with only one supporting RF (IR's beefier cousin) in addition to Wi-Fi. Hell, I have 40+ lightbulbs that are all Wi-Fi controllable. Time to let IR go. Each phone generation there are hues and cries about the loss of IR and FM radios. I'm surprised a thread on the latter hasn't appeared yet.
Well.. you can use something like a 3.5mm port IR blaster like this: https://www.amazon.com/Infrared-Universal-Wireless-Projector-Conditioner/dp/B01F54HKDU
I personally never tried it but theoretically it will work, just need the remote app able to convert the pulsing into audio to trigger the IR LED and it will light as pattern just like any normal IR blaster.

Apples to oranges. I'm certain that more people listen to music than need an IR blaster on their phone. Remotes do come with the products they purchase, usually. There was a big Internet explosion over the loss of the headphone jack, the IR blaster is dying out with a whimper. In fact, I only see complaints on enthusiast forums such as XDA. That says it all.
That being said, tech is moving on. It's sad to lose something that is so well known but the future is wireless and the same thing can be said about IR. My TV has many different ways to control it, with or without IR blasters or the remote.
No InfraRed ?? 950€ and no InfraRed ??
I'm upset me too ! I will return to Xiaomi immediately !
Ridiculous: I changed to Samsung S4 and then S5 also for theyr Amazing InfraRed = Remote control ... !!

Which Headphones/Earphones are you using??

Hey guys i want to know which headphones/earphones are u using for the moto g4/plus other than the one given by Motorola in the box. I want to buy a new earphones as my cowon Em1 are dead and asking for a suggestion which earphones should i buy as i have tried skullcandy and jbl earphones (took from my friend) which didn't work(no sound). so i want to make sure that the earphones which i want to buy are actually compatible with our phone.i am looking forward to buy boat bassheads 225, cx 180 and mi in-ear basic and any other you suggest below 1k. Waiting for the replies
All earphones/headphones which use the standard 3.5 mm audio jack should be working. However only buy the ones from trusted brands like SkullCandy, JBL and Sennheiser. Moreover do checkout the ratings before buying. If you're buying it online I'd recommend Amazon and Flipkart (but yea, make sure the seller has a rating of at least 3.5 stars) According to me, the Sennheiser CX180 Street II are good enough. (my friend bought them)
Moto G4 Plus Headphones Issue
Many G4 Plus owners have had an issue with headphones/earphones not working or playing only on 1 side. Check this Lenovo forum thread starting on page 3. I had the problem (1 side only) and after making sure the jack was fully inserted, I put the phone in safe mode (with the jack kept in). Worked fine in safe mode. Rebooted and has worked perfectly since, about 9 months ago. Note: As a new XDA member I'm not allowed to post outside links so Google the issue and find the Lenovo forum thread. Hope this helps.

I think im not having the issue of earphone sound only coming from 1 side. but some of the branded companies headphones (like skullcandy, JBL) which are genuine are not working at all as there is no sound coming from them and on other devices it just working perfectly with great sound. I don't know if its device fault or if its headphones fault.

USB-C Audio Out

so im looking to replace my current phone. i was considering the hauwei mate 9 but i cant bring myself to give that damned company any more of my money. they make great hardware by their skin (EMUI) is horrendous! anyway, it seems that im going to go for the G6 since the price keeps dropping. my only gripe is the headphone jack placement.
i honestly dont care if my next phone has it or not but if it does it needs to be on the bottom. but seeing as my top pick is the G6 im hoping to have options. so, has anyone tried using a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter? if so, which one?? any and all help is appreciated!

But I also bought an extra charger and adapter on eBay.
Completely stock. The one from a Moto Z works also. My wife has a Moto Z.
I have tried a number of USB-C to 3.5mm adaptors on my unrooted LG-H870DS with no luck. The last two I ordered I made sure they were USB-C 3.1 and still nothing. The phone never detects anything when I plug it in.
If anyone can find one that does work without root, please let me know!

I'm using the one that came with an Essential PH-1.
I'm also using a set of earbuds with USB-C.
If you are paying less than about $10, it's not going to work.
You need a USB-C digital audio interface.
There is an analog spec and those cheap cables implement analog.
The digital spec adapters have a USB DAC and AMP in the cable and will cause the phone to supply power.
This should work:
https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre...-ultra&acc=usb-c-digital-to-3-5mm-htc-u-ultra
Search for "usb-c dac headphone adapter"

The problem with trying to use the USB-C without a digital cable and just the jack wire to the two extra pins, is that not everyone supports analog audio over USB-C.
The only way to be sure a USB-C audio adapter will work is to use a digital adapter with a DAC and headphone amp in the dongle.
You will immediately know if it works because it will require power from the USB-C port.
A $2 adapter probably won't work as it will be analog only.

There were a few out there already:
Zorloo Z:ero and Aero.
The Z:ero needs a micro to USB-C adapter of the correct type. This one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B018G6IK7E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
so it seems that the pixel adapter price has been slashed in half! now lets wait and hope for a black version!

Hi!
Which exact moderl of usb-c earbuds with integrateg DAC are yuo using? I have read some people having issues with some DACs on the g6 precisely due to usb-c error, such as battery draining
What about sound quality between that amp&dac dongles and original headphone jack (not quad dac) ? Should google dongle have better audio performance than G6 headphone jack?
