Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite 10" vs Samsung Tab S2 VE T813 - Galaxy Tab S2 General

Hi Guys,
Been searching for a cheap tablet with reasonable performance to run around the house, what's your take on these 2 options?
pros and cons?
My own opinion:
The recently released the Huawei has a better and modern layout / design and a fresh battery.
The Tab S2 has better screen, better performance.
About the same price at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated.

Similar to the m5 lite there also the galaxy pad a8 2018, but unfortunately lack of fingerprint reader...
Tapatalked with A8 2018

There is probably lots more support for the Tab S2 if that's important to you.

I bought SM-T719 last week for 299Eur. Nice small tablet. Amoled is great, came with android 7 preinstalled, battery has no drain when idle, is fast, LTE did not try yet.
EDIT : the battery life : I still had 80% battery left after 95minutes of browsing (on-screen time), so that makes the battery life 475 minutes, or almost 8 hours. I have the tablet on for couple of days. That is very good battery life.

Calling all tab owners!!!

Hey guys,
I am counting the days until the 1st November so I can purchase my Galaxy Tab.
I just have one question for you. What is the battery life like on your Tabs?
I have done a little maths and so far my results have told me that the battery life should be over double the life of a Samsung Galaxy S.
Maths:
Galaxy Tab: 4000 mah
Galaxy S: 1500 mah
Sinse the Galaxy tab has exactly the same specs as the galaxy s, the only thing I could think of that will drain the battery faster is the bigger screen on the tab.
Now lets pretend that the galaxy tab screen is 8 inches, exactly double of the galaxy s. Lets also pretend that the 8 inch screen makes the whole device consume 100% more than the Galaxy S. This means 3000 mah would make the device equivalent to a Galaxy S. That leaves 1000 extra mah!!
These figures are all over estimation so im hoping that it is double the battery life of the Galaxy s.
Are you guys getting these results?
for now im happy with mine
Mine is very good and i am a heavy user.
I can get at least 1.5 days out of it.
Seems good so far. I've been using mine heavily for last three days (typing this on it now) and it's been at about 40% battery when I go to bed and hook it up to the charger.
thanks for the info guys! sounds very good. I cant wait for november 1st!! so you guys think the battery is definatly noticebly better than the battery life of a high end android phone?
its not the best battery but better and can become more better with firmware updates
i have its since last saturday and i am getting decent 1 day battery with heavy usage
Yeah about a day on a full charge. By the way, could I have any problems from using a USB extender cable? The provided cable is pretty short.
Some days its ok, but days when I use 3G connection a lot the battery drains around 5:00 pm.
The battery life on my Galaxy-S phone is much better.
of course I use brightness on max most of the time...

Well, you can think of the issue this way: 8" diagonal vs 4" means 4 times bigger area.
With that said, you can not forget that it uses Super Crystal LCD vs SuperAMOLED
SuperAMOLED display is known as less power consuming than other, since it displays black without consuming power and works extremely hard showing white. So on black themes it is much less consuming than already bigger LCD the Tab got.
Third, the resolution itself. 1024x600 is roughly 2 times more than 800X480 which means twice as much processing power should be spent on exhibiting something on this already bigger, hungrier display.
So. If it was as simple as you think it should have last for a few hour using your equation.
P.S.
Mine is working 1.5 days with moderate usage.
it goes from 8 am to 8 pm but only barely. In fact I did run it down to 10% today. I will be buying a USB cable as soon as I can find one to plug it in in the office. I have 3G, WiFi and Bluetooh turned on all the time an run the screen at a decent brightness level though.
So basically, people with bad batter life have loads of things running (WiFi, 3G, BT) with high brightness.
Sent from my HTC Desire
Yep. Mine will last a full day from 7 am till 10pm. Using it to talk, video, browse and of course games. ..
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App

How's the battery life on General Mobile GM 5 Plus?

I've read some reviews and most of them noted the average battery life of this nice phone.
One even said that its worse than the Nexus 5 battery life, which is hard to believe.
That's what mostly concerns me, so I would like to ask owners about their experience.
Min 5 hours screen on time.
Max 7 hours screen on time.

Thanks! Are you overall satisfied with its battery life?
What was your previous device?
I'm on LG G2 at the moment and I'm afraid the GM5 plus will disappoint me in that regard...

My previous device is Gionee Elife E3 clone. I dont care about battery a lot. But GM 5 Plus is not bad. Google improves battery life at July patch. I'm so happy with unofficial roms. Stock / RR is stable.
But there is a problem with heat. If you play games 30 minutes it heats
I don't play games. Usually use for mail, web browsing, call and message. Before this I had, in reverse chronological order; galaxy note 3, galaxy note 2, htc one X, htc sensation and htc HD2 (android port), before that it was iphones and windows mobiles all the way back to 2004. So I have been using smartphones for the past dozen years. General rule of thumb for me is that if I can unplug it in the morning before leaving home at about 8-9 am and it lasts until about midnight when I plug it in and go to bed it is good enough battery life for me. I have found with the GM5plus that it is very often able to perform satisfactorily in regards to battery life. It gets me through the day no problem. In that regard it is much better than was the case with teh sensation, and Note 3 after the lollipop update. The note 3 could barely last until the evening after the 5.0 upgrade. This phone makes it to about 11:30-12:00 midnight with about 15-20 percent left. So I would say that even playing games and videos you should be able to get up to 4-5 hrs screen time and up to 8 hrs screen time just internet browsing. Plus there is quick(ened) charge so it does what it is supposed to do for a lot less than the (expensive) flagship models of other brands that I had bought previously.

S8 vs S8+ battery life comparision

Anybody find any links to S8 vs S8+ battery life comparison? I want the S8 for size in my pocket and easy to reach fingerprint scanner. Want to see tests of the S8 vs S8+ vs S7 Edge battery life comparison...
I cancelled my preorder to wait for battery life reviews, bigger screens and higher resolution and same sized battery (smaller for s8+ than s7e) doesn't seem like the processor will be able to offset the drain. And also wondering if the exynos will be more efficient with battery life than sd as last year was. I use to have sd820 s7e and now I'm using international exynos s7e and do wish I originally bought the international one

Phone arena did some testing and found that it comes out on top over the S7E. It also beat the Pixel XL and Oneplus 3T. Of course people need to do there own testing to be sure.
It's not just the SoC being more efficient that can save battery. Displaymate.com have noted that the panel is not only better but also more energy efficient. The software is no doubt better optimised and that can also mean battery savings. Anyway, in the tests in ran for 8 hours which isn't bad. Add fast charging and it's fine for most people.
Next time I do hope they increase capacity, I don't want slimmer phones, I would prefer a larger battery. We never seem to benefit from improved power efficiency, it's always more of the same. They have supposedly improved the battery tech in the S8, it should hold charge better over time. We might only lose 5% over a year instead of 20%. That is better in the long run.
I think they purposely made the battery small to prevent the chance of phone explosion, that is absolutely the last thing they need right now and I don't think they want to risk that., but I'm rooting for the s8/s8+ to have great battery life. I'm hoping the battery stats r near identical between the two models so I can get the smaller s8 and not feel like I got jipped on battery life, and I read some early test that the 8895 exynos will be better than snapdragon.

Want to know the PROS and CONS of the Samsung Galaxy S8's battery

Hello everyone,
I want to know the PROS and CONS of the Samsung Galaxy S8's battery. I am currently a Samsung Galaxy S7 user and I am thinking to make an upgrade. I always wanted a phone to have a heavy battery life as I am a heavy user.
Also let me know if the phone charges faster compared to the S7.
Thanks in advance, it is my first time posting here

Hey Shajjadur,
Welcome to the XDA!
The Galaxy S8 charges quickly, not necessarily any faster than the Galaxy S7, but 15 minutes will give you circa 20% battery life, almost 50% in around 30 minutes and a full charge takes about 80 minutes. Wireless charging isn’t as quick, but it still charges far faster than an iPhone.
Here are pros and cons -
Pros: Better than it should be, fast wired and wireless charging, promises of long term safety and performance
Cons: Disappointing battery capacity, reduced resolution required for all day stamina, generationally a backwards step
S7 battery capacity after one year is 80% of new. S8 battery capacity after one year is 95% of new according to Samsung.
I got a killer mobile battery charger can do at least 5 full charges so never concerned anymore about battery life lol.
Example used my phone all day yesterday. Took pics used net etc and did small chargers now and then kept me alive all day and night.
Also it's fast charge too.

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Very timely thread. I've been wondering about battery. This is my first device (out of 6) that I even paid attention to battery drain.
Overnight unplugged not a problem. During the day, with admittedly heavy usage, the drain seems a lot more than what I'm used to with previous devices. I've run Better Battery Stats for several days and there is no specific app nor process that I can identify as the culprit.
I'll be watching this thread to see what develops.
My Rating Out of 10: 6
Coming from a Tab S3 I'm getting much better battery life. I use to have to charge the S3 at least once during the day and sometimes again in the evening. The S6 is making it all day on a single charge.
I've just come from a Pixel C and the battery life is very impressive, yes I know the Pixel C is from 2015 so the battery life has degraded somewhat but still, it's a lot better.
Battery Life is average compared to my Ipad Air 2019 consumes 1 percent for every 5 minute Video compared to 8 minute in ipad Air !

Don't care, the iPad could be 1% an hour and I still wouldn't be interested.
Personally I'm finding the battery on my LTE model to be very good - I used it on Sunday to watch sports pretty much non-stop for about 7-8 hours and still had 45% of battery life left - impressed me considering that was 7-8 hours running off LTE/4G.
I'm getting over 8 hours screen on time between charges which is excellent considering the size of the battery. I don't leave it on overnight though as I really don't see the point.
My old PIxel C with a larger (degraded) battery was only getting around 4-5 hours before I sold it, Tegra X1 was never the most effiecent SoC though.

I'm still on the Pixel C running 10.0 but was thinking about making the jump since the CPU is really starting to show it's age but GPU performance is still excellent. How satisfied are you with the switch?

Performance wise I have no complaints, most apps run great but compatibility is an issue, the Pixel C might actually be more compatible which is highly strange. The tab 6 is new but SD855 is not.
Battery life is much better of course, the device itself is much thinner, smaller bezels, much better audio quality, the speakers on the Pixel C were awful.
I'm satisfied but I will be getting a replacement, uneven black levels, general issue with oled displays sadly.

Thanks for the information I appreciate it! Hopefully, you have better oled panel lottery this time around. I'll probably end up picking one up with the keyboard attachment.
