How's the battery life on General Mobile GM 5 Plus? - General Mobile GM 5 Plus Questions & Answers

I've read some reviews and most of them noted the average battery life of this nice phone.
One even said that its worse than the Nexus 5 battery life, which is hard to believe.
That's what mostly concerns me, so I would like to ask owners about their experience.

Min 5 hours screen on time.
Max 7 hours screen on time.

My previous device is Gionee Elife E3 clone. I dont care about battery a lot. But GM 5 Plus is not bad. Google improves battery life at July patch. I'm so happy with unofficial roms. Stock / RR is stable.
But there is a problem with heat. If you play games 30 minutes it heats

I don't play games. Usually use for mail, web browsing, call and message. Before this I had, in reverse chronological order; galaxy note 3, galaxy note 2, htc one X, htc sensation and htc HD2 (android port), before that it was iphones and windows mobiles all the way back to 2004. So I have been using smartphones for the past dozen years. General rule of thumb for me is that if I can unplug it in the morning before leaving home at about 8-9 am and it lasts until about midnight when I plug it in and go to bed it is good enough battery life for me. I have found with the GM5plus that it is very often able to perform satisfactorily in regards to battery life. It gets me through the day no problem. In that regard it is much better than was the case with teh sensation, and Note 3 after the lollipop update. The note 3 could barely last until the evening after the 5.0 upgrade. This phone makes it to about 11:30-12:00 midnight with about 15-20 percent left. So I would say that even playing games and videos you should be able to get up to 4-5 hrs screen time and up to 8 hrs screen time just internet browsing. Plus there is quick(ened) charge so it does what it is supposed to do for a lot less than the (expensive) flagship models of other brands that I had bought previously.

Just returned my OnePlus 2, concerned about the moto x pure's battery life.

So long story short after getting two defective Oneplus 2's in a row from Amazon I decided to step away from Oneplus to a more stable and reliable manufacturer.
I've come from a Oneplus 1 before this and I just spent the last three days going over every review of the MXPE. The only issue I have is if I'm making the right decision considering that battery life is pretty average? I'm not going to be using it for gaming, and I wont be using 3G instead of LTE.
Won't say it's bad. The turbo charged enables amazing fast charging times and Android M has surely improved some percentage of the battery. I carry a quick charge 2 enabled car charger too so i don't feel it's bad. i think you will get used to the battery offering of the MXPE.
Hi,
I had the same concerns as you have right now. The Screen of my OnePlus One got a crack, so I had to decide for myself "Do you want another one, or do you want to give an other manufacturer a try". I decided to buy the Moto X Style, which is the Pure in europe and was blown away by the display quality, the sound and the overall performance. And of course, it's as close to stock Android as it can get. The battery was a real letdown after a few hours of "testing" and recharge-cycles. Coming from a OPO, with all the possibilites to tweak and getting very high SOT, I was really really disappointed. But now, I'm getting really used to it and tweaked some settings a bit, to get more out of that battery. Now I'm on 4-5 hours of SOT and, thankfully, can go even further with the Turbo Charger. Of course, the battery could've been a bit larger (as always), but that's not a big issue in my opinion. Give it a chance, play around a little and you will see, that the overall experience prevails. With Marshmallow on the doorstep, you should get even more out of the battery, thanks to the Doze-Feature. There's a thread floating around, where a couple of users are reporting about an increasing battery life.
Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to reply guys. @doree Glad to see someone else coming from the OPO, I was used to getting 6-8 SOT with all the underclocking/volting that we used to do with AK kernel. Guess i'll do a bit more research from users using marshmallow on the X and then make a decision.
I'd say so far my battery life experience has been slightly worse than what I had with my Note 4, which is still pretty good overall. Especially since the update to MM it seems to drain less in standby. Currently have 2 hrs SOT with 38% battery left (and it last came off the charger Saturday morning). Granted, when I'm at home I always have it on Wifi which uses less battery than having it on GSM/LTE. On weekdays when I'm at work (where I don't have wifi) it drains a bit faster. And I also have a long commute which also isn't beneficial to battery life as it's constantly hopping towers during the commute.

I've read a lot different stuff concerning battery on the MXPE - with a handful of users reporting it's not great. But I must say, from my experience, battery life has been amazing. I get between 4 and 6 hours of SOT per charge. And a full charge can easily get me through 48 hours. I've never had battery life this great on a phone before. Right now I'm running stock LP, no tweaks, no nothing. I don't use WiFi, but location is set to high accuracy, and I'm always on LTE. I do have more than adequate cell signal strength which helps, and I run minimal apps. But overall I've been super impressed with battery life. :knock on wood:
Battery life is decent as long as your not playing games with full gpu usage. I get three straight hours of battery playing games. For the days I don't play games, battery life is good as oneplus one. But my old OnePlus takes the cake playing games and gpu usage with heat.. I'm on stock MM rom on mxpe and cm12 with custom kernel on 1+. Out of the box, I like mxpe hands down. Probably why I'm still stock on this phone. But once we get Custom marshmallow roms rolling, my flashiolic will kick in!

i do not play games but i do chat a lot, movies etc, i get around 5 hours on screen time.
the phone usually lasts the whole day but you have to watch your apps some apps just drain your battery.
keep in mind that you can get 40% of charge in 15 min, you gotta love this feature over the one plus

ZTE Axon 7 - SOT and charging time (battery life)

I can't find nothing about the battery life
Also very nice to know, how fast is the charging time?
Quoting Blurayagent over at the ZTE community:
"I read quick charge is good for 0-60% charge in 30 min. Greater than 60% is charged in normal mode. "
Take a look here

Have mine plugged into quick charge 3 24 watt power brick. It goes fast from 1-60%. Still testing though

Why not?
5h 45min screen on is pretty good considering it's a 2K display pushing many more pixels that the OP3.
1h 29m charge time isn't bad either considering the 4 phone that charged a bit faster all have smaller batteries to work with.
It better than most and more than acceptable to me.

The Quick Charge 3.0 speed is insane. 20% to 86% in less than an hour.
Yah the charge time is crazy fast, but daily battery life doesn't seem too good so far, I get constant battery drain
My battery life today was about 6:30 screen on with heavy usage, about 12 hours usage (from about 6:45 am-6 pm with a 1 hour phone call on speaker phone) very satisfied with battery life and charge time. Coming from moto x pure.
No issues at all with stock firmware other than no wifi calling and no unlocked bootloader.
Phone is much faster than moto x pure and much battery battery life.

That's promising. I'm planning to go with either the Axon 7 or the new Nexus Marlin to upgrade from my Moto X Pure. Battery life on the Pure is my biggest complaint. I can barely get 4 hours SOT. Most days are closer to 3. The Pure seems pretty quick to me though. I rarely have dropped frames so anything faster will be a bonus.
I really wish ZTE would confirm the status of the bootloader. I'm holding out in hopes they make an announcement soon. I'm also concerned I'll be annoyed with the Axon's MiFavor 4.0 ROM. I love how stock the Pure's OS is.
I'm on Verizon so the OP3 is a no-go for me. Although it sounds like Axon 7 owners on Verizon are having issues of their own. Hopefully the issues are just because the CDMA networks haven't approved the Axon 7 yet.
I'm getting constant battery drain on my new phone in UK.
It lost 21% of power doing nothing last night. I also had enabled power save settings.

My SOT is getting better. Achieving 6 Hours easily.
6h in 20h for 1440p screen is good but pls post some screenshots
Yeah, I noticed the battery life improved as the days wore on... Might be like when you install a new rom, you need to give it a week to settle before battery life stabilizes....
How the heck is everyone measuring SOT?? I don't see it in the stock battery stats. I'd like to avoid 3rd party apps to measure this. Am I missing something?

Heavy use endurance

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy Note 8's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

Who the hell plays candy crush, and for gawd sakes why for 22 hours?
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
i've never touched Candy Crush but I tend to play with a new phone a lot. Not that impressed with battery. I'm re-adjusting to how much worse android is on standby overnight, but it sips pretty hard in general. A new phone is about my heaviest usage though, I'm not considering that any kind of real review.
Extremely impressed with the battery. I am coming from a Note 4 and the battery is much better on the 8. I was concerned that the battery was going to be a weak spot and now I think it is one of the strengths of the Note 8.
Battery life is the best I've ever experienced on a smartphone in my life
I agree that I am getting amazing battery results also. Coming from the note 4 I am concerned about the life of the battery with the possibility of me having to charge it during the day and night since I use it for work. It is not. Replaceable like the note 4 and if it only has 500 charge cycles that would not last me a year...

Yea on further use I find it mediocre. Certainly compared to the iPhone I was using. I don't feel sore about it because the phone is doing so much and charges fast, it should have a larger battery. Wireless at home, car charger, charger at work. I'll survive.

Really holds up well for being ran wide open. No gaming so I can't tell how long it would last under the most intense use, but I don't turn my phones down or conserve and it gets used a lot. Outlasts my iPhone 7 plus by hours.
6 months later and I am still pushing 8-10 hours SoT running in high performance mode only.
right now I'm on 68% with 3.44 on battery, 3.01 SoT but have also been streaming music for over 2 hours

Thats seems not possible on a Note 8. I had a note 8 had nothing installed besides the basics. Mostly used for browsing and YouTube. The battery life was shocking so i returned the device. Instead i bought a Pixel 2 XL and couldn't be happier. Battery life on the Pixel 2 XL is much better than any samsung phone i have had. Out of all samsung phones I have had the S7 Edge had the best battery life and that even gets about 2 hrs less SOT compared to my Pixel 2 XL
Considering a note device is aimed at heavy end users battery life would be the first thing you would want to get right. However this is not the case which is disappointing. I won't buy another samsung device untill they fit 4000mah batteries as samsungs are not efficient at all
sounds like you had a faulty device.

Agreed.
I have been using my note 8 exynos 128 GB for 4 months, and It runs more or less as expected, 5-6 hours SOT, I use it in entertaining mode, If you pay a high price for a high end device, it would be pointless to use it under restrains, lower resolution, lower brightness etc, all those things that make this phone a beast, but all these nice features are power hungry

Light use endurance

Once in a while, when your significant other yells at you, you might use your phone a bit less. Rate this thread to express how the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact's battery performs under light use. A higher rating indicates that the device goes a long time when you're using the phone sparingly: no gaming or video/audio streaming, light web browsing, some calling and texts, etc.

Coming from a Z3 compact, I can't help but feel this is a huge step back in terms of battery performance. I am really, really disappointed.
Woke up today at 7:00 with a full charge, watched about 40 minutes of YouTube which took me down to 68%; now it's 3:30 PM, the phone has barely seen any use and the battery is at 52%. On the Z3c when the battery was brand new, with this kind of use I would still be around 80%.
I really don't know what to say This is now a one-day-lasting phone like any other.

That's disappointing. I've got a Z3C that I use very lightly, mostly just 10 minutes of web browsing, 20 mins on WhatsApp and a bit more general screen on time. Maybe 45 to 60 mins total per day. I still get 3 days of battery life from my 3 and a half year old phone.
I'm considering either a XZ2C or Google Pixel (2016), but not really sold on either of them, both for being larger and the battery life being poorer
xz2c upgraded to 5" full hd screen, that's why battery life isn't as good as z3c. you can't have everything unfortunately.
still, I'm very happy with battery life of this phone, i get easily through 2 full days with one charge, and 6 hours sot, average usage.
it depends from your usage pattern of course, btw with same usage i used to get half the battery life with my previous S7.
not to mention size of this phone is perfect for me! very happy
ps. pixel 2016 is bigger than xz2c and battery lasts shorter.. and it is 2 years old phone.. wouldn't suggest it

Yeah, I know the Pixel is bigger and older, but I'm not too concerned with the performance difference and the both have 4GB of RAM, which is more important for me. also wonder if my light usage could stretch the Pixel out to 2 days too.
For the Z3C, community support for ROMs was OK, but I expect the Pixel will have a larger community and will continue to get updates for a longer time.
I think the sensible thing is for me to stick with the Z3C until it breaks, but we don't always make the sensible choice...
light use endurance is pretty good of this phone. if you just bought the phone, don't forget that the battery might need some time to adjust itself. and in my case it needed to drain the battery with some unknown usage after a system update.
My light use endurance is great. After 1 & 1/2 days being off the charger & 1 hr of SOT, I still had 70% left. Blows my Unlocked Galaxy S9+ (965U1) away in terms of both standby & in-use battery performance.
To be fair on the GS9+, however, that phone is connected to a Gear S3 Classic 24/7.

loving it, it's one week of use and i end everyday with battery at 50-60%
i use it for browsing, instant messagging, share and take photoes, waste time on 9gag and various networking configurations.
if you have battery drains check for installed applications. Disable facebook!
I still have over a day left, aiming for 3 days at the moment.

Ya... it's a pity that the market apparently wants Full HD also on small screens. To me, dpi>300 doesn't make sense apart from VR (which I never use), but the market wants 430dpi+ apparently. Yes, there is a tiny difference between my Mi5S (428dpi) and my previous Moto G 2014 (294dpi) in terms of sharpnes - but I'd always take the longer battery life instead.

Hi,
I recently bought this phone and it's awesome but I noticed that when I unplug the phone from the charger, it drains quickly battery even in stand by. Right now it has 18 min SOT and it's 89% (most whatsapp). Not quite like yours. Since I did just 2-3 cycles, do I need to calibrate it? If so, how should I do it exactly?
Thanks a lot!

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Moto G7 Plus before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
First of all, GSM Arena's unit was faulty and didn't do well in their test. Battery life on this phone is superb even though it has "only" a 3000 mah battery. I got 5 hours and still 15 percent left. I have to go to bed now so I'm gonna put it on charge but it lasted me all day and more.
I'm using a Huawei Watch 2 connected all day through Bluetooth (that drains a lot), 2 SIM cards, WhatsApp and WhatsApp business and loads of social networking.
Motorola does some really high quality batteries. It's probably better than other phones with 3500 - 4000 mAh.
I'm also satisfied with the SOT.
I was also positive surprised about battery life, I get between 5 and 6 h sot, much better than my LG G6 who has a bigger battery on paper but only gets around 5 h sot in real life.
Can anybody confirm that battery is long lasting for people who don't have screen turned on all the time? I'm giving screenshots for my good old g5s plus.

That's super good. Can't believe people and blogs are spreading so much hate of this phone.
I am Not very Happy with my screen on time, but it is ok.
The Phone is awesome,i Like it very much.
Another example: this time a little better at almost 7 hrs SOT at 15%.
And another for over 8 hrs at 15%.
Do you guys use your phones? You seem good candidates for flip phones. Just teasing.
Glad to see the Plus is doing so well. I opted for the dual sim Power. I'm gettin 12-14 hours screen time and have no problems breaking 40 hours. I backpack a lot and wanted the longer battery life for mapping and music while out in the back country for a few days. I have to say I am impressed. the 720 display on the Power is pretty nice for a 720 but it does have a flipping big notch.
I'm getting over 5 and a half hours of SOT. :good: (Right after a factory reset)
What's up?
I'm getting this:
I was using mostly Chrome and about 20 minutes playing Asphalt 8 and using camera for about 3 minutes. Brightness is at about 50% usually.
If I have brightness on 100% (outdoor in sunny days) I'm getting about an hour less SoT during the same time frame (22 hours).
