common apps and root - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
More and more apps are not working when your phone has root. Does anybody know if there is a solution to that? For instance a Bank app will not have all the functions with root or will not work at all. Please do not answer with the fact that unroot my phone will help, lol. Thanks.

Delete the su binary and app from your ROM zip and flash it? Of course, you'll have no root access...I've never tried it, but it might work. I'd like to know what these apps are looking for in order to decided whether or not you're rooted?
Ordered my Nexus 4 on the 13th. Still waiting.
You can try a temp unroot via superSU pro. A word of advice though: banks don't allow their apps on rooted phones because of the risks involved. Custom roms are more often than not less secure than stock ones, putting you at the risk of banking credentials being stolen or remotely siphoned or pished or extracted via adb. If you ask me, I'd say don't look for a work around. The restriction is there for a reason.

[Q] Galaxy S5 Root Questions

I am completely new to android and the world of rooting. I have a galaxy S 5 (SM-G900A). I jailbroke my iphones in the past and found it to be pretty simple. I did the towelroot root last week and didn't know where to go or what to do next. Since the bootloader is locked is it worth it to do the root? Not sure if I am missing something but everything I look up is for the tons of other devices and different models for different carriers. I got a little overwhelmed. So my first question is should I even root this device and what exactly can I do or if you have the same device, what have you done with it?
2) Since the root, my S Health is not working and I noticed the phone to be a little jumpy. I did a factory reset on the device and found that I was still having issues. Then I realized the reset did not wipe the root, so I was able to remove the root with superuser and did another reset. My phone has been working great (non rooted). However, this morning it updated S Health and now I am back to not having that app work. Is there a fix and can it be done by only rooting again?
Thanks for any and everyone's help!

There is no need to root for your problem. This is very common issue for S5. To get your S Health worked as normal, go to Application Manager, delete data of S Health Service and Health Service

I did a few searches before I submitted my question. Everything I found is for different devices. I am really looking to see if I can do any of the things you kindly provided links to with the bootloader still locked with ATT. So, that is why I submitted my question.
I also searched this topic and there are many posts that say it is related to the root. It was working fine prior to rooting, as I used it everyday since the Galaxy 5 launched.

It's because they flash either CUSTOM ROM or CUSTOM KERNEL which you have to root to do so.
Just do as I said, S Health bug will be solved.

You're welcome, just to make sure there are two things you need to delete both of their data: S Health and HealthService. Just deleting either of them will also result in FC

How Can I Hide Root on my Rooted HD 10 to Get Some Apps to Run?

Hi all! First, thanks to all for the hard work in outlining how to root the HD 10! :good: I followed the directions and successfully rooted my HD 10 with the offline method. Before rooting I wasn't aware that I would lose access to some apps that check for root like the Spectrum TV app and even the Weather Channel app. I kind of understand why Spectrum would not like rooted devices, but The Weather Channel app? In any case, I'd like to know if there is a way to cloak or hide root so that some of these apps will start working again. I haven't tried setting up Xposed or anything, but is that a way to do it? Does Xposed have a module that's safe to use on the HD 10 for hiding root?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
Is anyone out there who can help answer this question?

You'd need to use a systemless root manager like Magisk or SUHide-lite which are not compatible with the HD 10 root solution.

Can anyone tell me why Fontster no longer works with Root access granted? Is there something better?
