Camera Depth Capabilities - Asus ZenFone AR Questions & Answers

Hey guys
I'm an android developer and I need to know if this phone is implementing the depth module from the camera 2 api.
Is someone available to install a very simple apk (attached) that lists the camera capabilities and post the screenshot with the output?
It would mean a lot, thanks.

Unfortunately Asus disabled camera 2 API on the Zenfone AR. The only way to enable it is to either unlock the bootloader or with root. Which cannot be accomplished by those of us on Verizon yet.

Capture video on Android devices

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there's a way to capture video of the Android OS/homescreen/apps in the same way that you can screenshot these things. I'd like to take a video of Google navigation and walk through the different features it has, but capturing video through an external camera generally ends up as very low quality.
I recall screenshots having to be taken (early on at least) only when it was linked with a computer and some portion of the dev toolkit. Is that still the case for screenshots? Does anyone know if there's a similar feature that would capture video when connected to a laptop or something? Thanks for the input!
Hey, you may use Android Screen Video Capture Tool for capturing currently displayed screen as a video for recording program demos to upload to YouTube or problem recreation
Or creating a set of videos answering your most frequently asked questions
You can create video tutorials for school or college class
Use to record a recurring problem so you can show technical support people
Create video-based information products you can sell
Record new tricks and techniques you discover on your favorite software program, before you forget them
I hope it would be helpful!
Also, if you are rooted, the app ShootMe takes screenshots and screencasts.

I usually use Camtasia, even in lite version it does the job. Launch the Android emulator on your SDK, start the camtasia video capture, start your app and acquire your video.
Don't forget to set a compression plug-in otherwise you'll have too large videos.
I prefer Broadcaster Studio. It,s free.
But i think he means on the Andorid device, not on the PC.
i am building an app that will have the ability to do this.

I temporarily took out the video option to speed up the processing. Until enough people want it I will put it back in.
Also until I deploy the apk you will have to be rooted and use adb or a terminal to use
the command
cat /dev/graphics/fb0 | netcat 9000
edit:
I am at work now. When I get home I can put the video option back in the code

It will work on honeycomb?
I don't have a honeycomb tablet so I don't know. This should work on a rooted tablet with busybox installed. I have the atrix which actually outof the box doesn't allow users to read the framebuffer without modifying the kernel. I doubt motorola has done this with the xoom.
The app is released in the android market. You will need to download and install python to run it on your phone. I am going to release an update to record video shortly.

HTC releasing IR API to devs

http://blog.htc.com/2013/02/calling-all-ir-apps/
I emailed a few devs for apps I either use or would like to use asking if they will be taking advantage of the IR API. I suggest others do the same if they want to use the IR feature in apps. I can control a couple of my home theater devices using their own wifi apps but it would be great to control the rest using IR.

Has anyone looked at the IR API yet? It's considered a partner one, so you have to request access to it from HTC. I'm assuming there's just train/transmit methods, but I'm curious if there's anything else (and how easy it is to use).

You can get access to the IR API if you are a partner from HTC. But all the informations about the API are confident. So nobody is allowed to tell you exactly what's in the API.
IR is such a useful feature and so highly standardised globally it won't be long before there are loads of IR apps available.
Hopefully IR is here to stay on phones and hopefully IR will start to appear on tablets.

Question about an usb dvr camera app

Hello,
I get this forum is for mainly mcus, but I didn't find any better place to post this. The question is, is there a better application to use with this dvr camera : VicTsing 1080P https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32968920075.html ? It uses some custom Chinese app that honestly quite junk, so I tried a few new but those didn't seem to work.
So, has anyone had experience with this or found a working app for it?

How do I shoot in RAW using the default camera (Pixelmaster 3.0)?

I just spent a frustrating hour in chat with tech support over at Asus, and they tell me that they do not support the camera and can not help with it. Really? It's YOUR phone, YOU put the camera in there, who else would support it? Also they recommended I go to Verizon. I bet anyone here $100.00 that if I walked into my local Verizon they likely would not even know of such a thing as a ZenFone AR, and they definitely would not know anything about the camera!
Anyhow, sorry about the rant. I couldn't even create an account at the ZenTalk forums because the Register button doesn't work So I am here, hoping for, but not really expecting, some help.
OK, so as far as I know the camera supports RAW. I have Open Camera with the Camera 2.0 enabled, I have Camera FV-5 and I have the default, apparently Pixelmaster 3.0 camera. I can't find a RAW option anywhere. Does the full version of the Moment app have it - is it worth buying it?
Is there an update that you can install for the phone that would address this? I have the phone updated in About Phone to its latest version, so I am speaking of manual installs here. No root - nothing requiring root access please. That just gives me more problems to address.
If there is no update, is there an app, which would work without root, that would change the otherwise, apparently hidden, option? Or is there a way to access it with that? I saw a video at YouTube that apparently does this, but it looks confusing.
Just want to enable RAW shooting on my camera phone. That's the long and the short of it.
I appreciate your help!
Hi, do you have the normal version or the Verizon one? If you have the normal one you should be able to root it and add Camera2Api support. If you have Verizon version you could try this method, may work or not: https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-max-pro-m1-google-camera/
This is the boot.prop file for Verizon version if you need it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w56fj5JUwXVi_Gi6UnbEnrAFfzEMywH8/view?usp=sharing

Ar Core Working! (With Root and Magisk) Tested with Minecraft Earth -October 2019

Honestly I'm not sure if this is allowed (sending others guides) but I simply followed 2 guides after I had installed ArCore, one was to check the status of my Cameras capabilities for Google API 2 and the other was a guide to change my phone to support API 2, basically the mi a2 DOES SUPPORT Google API but on my stock ROM this is NOT ENABLED, but after a quick tweak to a buildprop file using Terminal, and a simple restart, all features are WORKING nicely, this is tested on a modded version of Google Camera and the beta for Minecraft Earth. Happy Gaming I hope this works for you all as well
Please try Following these Easy guides
