Low Battery Capacity (2734 mah) despite 3000mah claim . How ? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

My battery backup was low on 1.5 years old G5plus and donot care as i used to play PUBGM . But after uninstalling the PUBGM and without heavy use i am still getting low battery backup . So i got curious started investigating . What i got to know is my battery capacity is 2734mah while i know my g5 plus had 3000mah . I cross checked from different apps and all apps show 2734mah . Can anyone explain how is this possible ? Thanks in advance

Batteries lose capacity over time. It's just a fact of life.

But my other device Mi pad 1 2.5 years old that has big 6700mah still got 6700mah after 2.5 years of daily 3hrs of use . I think battery degradation is related to turbo charge and recharge cycle.

I guarantee you your Mi pad battery has lost some capacity. It's a matter of chemistry. You simply cannot keep repeating the chemical reaction a lithium battery undergoes without it eventually degrading over time.
Certain things can hastenb this process, such as letting your battery drain out to much, or keeping it fully charged all the time, it improperly storing it (temperature or charge level), or temperature extremes.
And yes, quick charging by delivering lots of amps to a battery will shorten it's life, but with modern batteries designed for quick charging, the difference is actually miniscule, perhaps even negligible. It's far more likely for one of the other things above, or just a plain manufacturing defect, will have a far greater impact than quick charging.

Mugen power battery

Hello all;
I purchased Mugen battery 1800mAh, received it a week ago. After doing the initial charge-discharge for three cycles. Today is the third day I am runing the phone without charging, moderate use, bluetooth, music, messaging, downloading stuff and regular calling, I have 41% life left. I have BatteryTime, Advanced Task killer and Startup auditor.
I would highly recommend for you all who have problems to purchase this battery it is a great performer.
I am in no way affiliated with Mugen, just a satisfied customer
I´ve the same battery and i can confirm that it´s definitely a huge improvement. Almost 3 days in a row without charging.

I got mine off da bay, I think they ship international
If the sony updates dont improve battery life then i might purchase one.
I bought one also, and I'm very happy with it, because the original one last only 7h for me.
ey guys, could you say a comparison of times between the original one and this huge?
P.D: Could you tell me the ebay seller, i cant find it anywhere
Just google for the battery. You´ll find the online store.

What is the mAh rating of the standard battery and how does the physical size and weight compare to the standard one?
I believe standard 1500 ma and Mugen 1800 ma.
I read a test that slated the allegedley higher power batteries as ina test they actually perfomed worse electrically than standard. Can't remember where though - Google is your friend (as long as you don't have an Android phone and want to use bluetooth voice dialling!)
just put my order in today..10-15 days till it arrives. hope its worth the 33$

That´s what I thought for myself. The manufacturer provide the best battery solution as possible with their devices. So it´s not worth to buy an other battery.
This is a comparison between the stock battery and the Mugen battery. The Mugen battery is floating a bit more so I added 2 different graphs.

Not to disappoint anyone here, but these Mugen guys are sort of known to overrate battery capacity a bit. Just do a google search and lots of alarming things will pop. I would generlly recommend against using anything but OEM batteries

How to increase battery life 200%!

Hi, i stumbled across something.
Normally my fully charged X8 lasts about a day (I charge it every night)
I was at this friends house and forgot my charger, so i borrowed his HTC charger. This resulted in a battery that lasted twice as long! I tried it a few times and there is a real difference between the 2 chargers.
actually I've lost my charger and always charging with htc charger(my brother's) so anyway charging every night.. and htc charger can't charge battery till 2400 mah
My battery lasts 3 days im using wi fi ever day and some games. Charged with stock charger
Sent from my X8 using XDA Premium App
around 2 days with a lil Angry Birds + wifi + facebook + web browser
last time I'm doing my experiment with very low usage, I got six days!

FroyoBread, eh? I use that too.. My battery lifetime sucks balls but i guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
My battery life s*cks. I have to calibrate the battery and do some improvements (like use "Battery Doctor to save battery" app)
I think the charger doesn't make difference because the battery as a limit, and the charger charges the phone to that limit =D xD watch out, don't use chargers with different voltage and amperage, if you use one with more than the stock charger you probably will burn out your battery xD
I using GingerDx v010 and i have to charge it every day...2 times!!!But i think i use it a little too much!
Could the charger make that difference???I think no.
Any chance it would work on other phones such x10 ? Because for us it isnt so good battery life :/

Sometimes ROM doesn't affect battery life, affecting battery life is your own habit.
As doixanh said (the dev that make GingerDX), reboot phone after listen to music, etc. I wish i could help you.
every one that wants longer battery life, download SuperDim from the market. My battery lasts 2-4 days depending on usage using Floyo .30

Is my charger not working 100%efficient?

iam using galaxy charging current pro, to measure my charger output, but with my phone gives only 1200mah, while our charger should gives 2000mah, iam using the original charger and cable which came with the mobile

That app is OK and probably your charger is also OK - the circuit that controls charging is probably limiting the current in order to keep it safe (for instance if it is too warm it might use an even lover current). Also the current is optimized as to be different at different levels of the battery capacity.
That being said I am always charging over night with a safe USB port - that way the current is 500mA max and the battery life is maximized, while I still get a completely full battery in the morning.

Yes, but:
- the S4 does not have the same charging algorithm as the Note3
- he was probably charging the S4 (which has different battery, charger and algorithm) at 1000 mAh or so (which was the most important point I was making, the 500 mAh are not 2x safer, are probably 4 to 8x safer, probably 20x safer than 2000mAh, that is not a linear thing)
- I think the S4 batteries had a certain defective batch (the media spoke at some point about it)
- there will always be a certain very small percentage of batteries that WILL go bad "no matter what", but that is usually exceedingly small if the charge process is done correctly.

you can try and do a factory reset. My edge had average battery life when I first got it. Did a factory reset and battery life has improved dramatically.

First off, give it a few days to adapt. From the little information you provided, I can see that there are no apps that are optimised. The software will automatically optimise and will save power on apps that aren't used in three days.
Secondly, we need more information. Please post what apps are draining what percentage of the battery, whether or not you have the Exynos version or the Snapdragon version, and so forth.
From the battery menu, click on battery usage and scroll down to see what apps are draining your battery

As other have stated, give it a few days to adapt. Right now you're installing apps, they're filling up cache.. Well everything gets settled. You're probably also just unlocking it, just for unlocking like everybody else when they get a new phone. Over 2 weeks your battery life should increase dramatically if you don't factory reset, as everything needs to settle again then.

Could 7.1.1 battery drain be from apps not optimized

Optimize all apps on 7.1.1system apps is there a fast multi select way
Noticed upon boot never does it and after looking into battery history telling me to do this but setting's menu under apps don't have a method . By the way this is on pure nexus ROM.
7.1.1 seems to drain the life fast and my device is new 3/days old
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Pure Nexus isn't great for battery life compared with other ROMs I've been on. Android doesn't allow some apps to be optimized. If your battery life seriously concerns you then you might want to try an app like Naptime which puts your phone into deep doze as soon as the screen goes off. You could also download a kernel manager if you don't have one and see if you are using a performance oriented governor or something more battery friendly.

If your phone truly is brand new, you're going to need to wait longer than 3 days to achieve optimal battery life. What is the date of manufacture in recovery>>barcodes? There are a few good apps that will tell you definitively what is draining your battery. BBS and GSam are two. It is also a great time to install Accubattery and get a benchmark on your current battery capacity vs. design.

The problem is not with stock Android 7.1.1. It could be your battery is defective or degraded. That's why I asked if your phone really is "brand new" or refurbished, and what the date of manufacture is. Install Accubattery and use it to calculate your battery's capacity vs. design.
Last few months my battery is also getting worse. Accubattery says capacity is around 2000mAh right now. I did often charge my battery, even when it wasn't below 50%. Maybe that killed it.

Not your fault mate, regardless of how you charged it. Battery was defective. Get an RMA if you can through Google or Huawei (even if it is out of warranty). If not, there are a few places selling good replacement batteries. Install yourself if you can, or take it somewhere to have the battery swapped out. Good luck to you.
