Is Pie available for RETEU channel? - Moto G6 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am few updates behind, so I cannot check it myself. And I am few updates behind because I am magisk user and I dont feel like uninstalling it for updates, every month. You will ask me why I am so lazy. It's because last time I tried to uninstall magisk, it crashed my boot partition and then I had to flash from fastboot and do so much work. That's why.
So is it available for anyone on RETEU channel, so I can install it. Or should I wait.

Officially already released in India

Should be very soon....

Yay just downloaded Pie today for reteu for Moto G6 plus via auto update, it is there now!

New stock firmware available (24.221.8)

Hi all.
I just noticed there's new firmware. Has anyone updated yet? In using an XT1572.
I'm rooted etc... So I can't quite simply update.
Should I be flashing the last stock firmware i have and then update? The last fastboot I have is the February patch, but my phone is on the May patch. Whatever firmware i flashed gives me another language in the update notification screen...lol.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just do my thing blindly.

After your post, I rechecked the update service on my phone (xt1572 also). I got also new update here, but right now I cant do update (rooted + xposed). WIll try later, but I suppose that there is just new security patch. Strange that I got another version..
EDIT:
fount out Motowebpage
it look like the only improvements are - September security patch there.
Is the update for India dual sim xt1572?
I've installed the update today. The download size was about 40 MB, so seems to be a small patch indeed. I can confirm that it contains the september security patch, haven't noticed anything else yet.
I do think it's a shame that Moto is lacking so much in the update department lately. This is a security patch of two months ago... Also I would have expected them to have news on Nougat by now, at least for their Moto Z family...
6.0.1 ? at the time of 7.0?

it's not 6.0.1 update it's only security patch, we already had 6.0.1 in eu for a while
Has someone already tried the update with Flashfire? Im Rooted, on Frankenclark and Xposed. Does anyone know if we can get a flashable zip to flash in TWRP? To much work to go back to Stock, update and install everything again. Is the patch it worth?
Sent from my XT1572 using XDA-Developers mobile app
can someone upload full firmware for retasia? thx
We have to wait for Moto to release/leak the firmware image, the OTA zip won't do any good... This usually takes 2-4 weeks, sometimes more, to get the factory image. Be patient.
BTW, it is nothing special, all it does is patch to the Sept 1, 2016, security update, including Dirty Cow (which if you have been following the security threads is pretty much worthless on Lollipop and newer devices anyway)

OTA is not working

Hey
I'm using my Huawei p8 premium (GRA-UL10) for two years now. Last year I upgraded to marshmallow, but not via OTA, I downloaded the update from Huawei's site. Few days ago I read an article about April 1 security patch for my device, I downloaded the update from the site (not the official site), installed it and now everything is running smoothly plus some tweaks.
The p8 gets update every month, but not via OTA, does it should be that way or something is wrong?
may be its gone from server
ota is experimental if users give good it remain
and if faces issues it will removes
what is your current rom version
no man nothing wrong ota is unofficial

My Moto G5 Plus won't update..

So as the title suggests. I bought my phone 2 months ago, and since I got it it hasn't updated once. Nothing, not so much as a security patch or anything.
I've tried googling this but nothing comes up. I obviously check via system update - and it says it's up to date.
My build number ends 137-33.
Android security patch 1st January 2017.
It's not rooted. And all stock.
Is this normal?
My phone came with same build and you're not alone. Twiddling thumbs may help with the long wait, or root and try some custom ROMs. I've got the June 5th security patch running CyberOS which is based on Android 7.1.2 and other custom ROMs are similar. There's a debloated stock ROM based on India's G5+ update (they got one already) with the March patch at least. That said, there are rumbles ours is finally coming soon if you do want to remain stock and get the OTA.
What does it say under Settings > About Phone> Software Channel?
There hasnt been an update for the UK Moto G5 Plus yet.

I asked a similar question in a separate thread and maybe you know, is the update 137-35-5 that is available as a zip able to be flashed over this same build, 137-33 I have now? I unlocked my bootloader but stopped short of flashing twrp or rooting. I think the 35-5 update only has the May security patch only but someone uploaded the full firmware. Any opinions are welcome.

Yeah, I cannot believe that some regions were being updated months ago to March and subsequently May security patches and the UK is still yet to receive any updates at all. Why do manufacturers make their lives so much more difficult by having such variances by region? A single software version for all regions seems to work just fine for Google and their Nexus/Pixel lines.

Motog5 November 01,2017 patch update

Security and stability patch through nov 01,2018 received. Has anyone else tried it? Its 2nd patch after august one i think which had a Bluetooth patch fix.
Is this for moto g5 Amazon exclusive Indian varient ??
Yes I bought it frm Amazon India. Why?? What is the difference?
I saw update notification on Lenovo support page for APAC from December and almost broke my update check button, but it says You have latest version . Still on August update, which I got in October...
I have the Moto G5 UK Amazon variant.
I got the same update and d/l it now.
Hopefully, my phone will start working as expected.
This is the 1st update I got since last ~March.
My g5 on the o2gb channel received the November security update last week too. 1st one since January 17
I have moto g5 which is in amzin software channel but i didn't receive any update .the last security patch level update was my 1 August 2017 .is anyone from same channel received the update or not??

Same here in Poland. It looks like Lenovo is pretty slow in Europe.
My 3gb g5 from Amazon on retgb, updated to 1 Nov 2017. I was shocked it received its first update!
Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
Seems there are at least 2 variants.
One that got some update in August (Mine didn't)
2nd that got now (Feb) the Nov updates. (Mine - 3GB "exclusive" version by Amazon UK with 2 sims).
I must say - phone seems to work better now.
So - when/where is our Oreo?
Hi
Just recieved the same update for XT1676 RETEU software channel.
Cheers
It was long overdue.. NPP25.137-93 finally here for reteu/ger.. Now it shouldn't take long for January (g5/retbr already got it).
Got it on reteu in Poland.
Got it on reteu (country - Slovakia) today. I can't see some big functional improvements (except camera app update), but phone seems to be generally working faster and it's a little bit more stable also.
I just got this ota update on reteu in UAE
I took an OTA update after my moto G5 had the bootloader unlocked and rooted. Now, it only boots to TWRP menu. The only workaround now is to go to Reboot/Bootloader in TWRP. Once in Bootoader, I can select start to boot normally. What can I do to get the phone to boot normally like before the OTA update.
you need to flash stock included stock recovery to update ota
Did someone already got the January Update?

No security patches since January '17

Hello everyone,
I read several post about updating to Android 8.1 on the Moto G5 plus, but I'm still on Android 7 with Security Patch from January 2017. I never had any OTA updates. When I manually do a check, there are no updates available.
Here is a screenshot:
I'm also unable to update to 8.1, but I think the problem is that I first needs the security patches, before updating to 8.1 will work.
It is no custom ROM. What can I do to get the security patches?
Screenshot unreadable, can you give software channel and build, both found in about phone section in settings.
Thanks
It is a thumbnail to the bigger one. Here is the link: https://tweakers.net/ext/f/pYZxVQJCcXqbkf5Q4zS5GXcq/full.png
I have no idea why your phone is not on the latest European software which is currently at NPNS137-93-14, take it your in Europe with a mainstream phone provider.
You could try fastbooting update or maybe using motorola update tool, sorry neither of which I have used, so cannot be of any help there.
OK, thanks for you reply anyway!
Is it possible to grap the OTA updates to NPNS137-93-14 manually?

I was able to grab the OTA with this:
https://motoota.lolinet.com
It has to run on a PC browser and you have to use the lines like the ones from a getprop command, for example
