Red Hydrogen One - RED Hydrogen One Questions & Answers

I currently have att. I was thinking of upgrading my phone to a Red Hydrogen One. Is it worth purchasing? How are the cameras? How durable is it? Are there a lot of bugs with this phone?

Hi, I am in the same boat with verizon.
Did you ever upgrade to the one?
how is it?

I did jump and get the AT&T version of the Red Hydrogen One. From my point of view, this phone is awesome. You can take 2D and 3D pictures. I have only taken 2D pictures to share with my wife and Facebook. I have yet to take 3D pics, but if you wan to share 3D pics, the other person must have a Red Hydrogen One, also but I don't know that for sure. I never tried to send 3D pics to someone with a Galaxy Note 9, or similar phone. You can buy 3D movies from the hydrogen network app or you put your own 3D movies on the internal storage or micro sd card and view them with the red player app, but the 3D movie must be named filename_2x1.mp4. The music sounds really good from the speaker. As for updates, with AT&T, they update the phones OS every 2 months or so. I do not know how often Verizon updates their version of the Red Hydrogen One. Did you visit the Red Hydrogen One's website @ https://www.h4v.com/. Their website has everything from videos about the phone to what the latest updates are for the cell providers and the Open Market (unlocked) version.

[Q] What's the best N1 replacement?

I've had my Nexus since it came out. I wouldn't mind selling my N1, but I'm not sure which android phone is the best replacement. I have been looking pretty hard at the Galaxy S, I would like to have something with a front facing camera though, any opinions?
T-Mobile?
G2
Samsung Vibrant
Hd2
Only real options on that carrier that could compete at all. None of them have front facing camera so probably wait until Christmas season is here and new phones are released for T-mobile.
I would wait if I were you, i think 2010 Q4 gonna have some sick asss phone
Wait. Q2 2011 should be when dual-core phones start becoming available to consumers. I'd hedge on a better display solution, too--something nicer than SAMOLED. Pixel-Qi perhaps.
Google's Nexus Two
I've had the N1 since day 1 and it's the best phone I've owned so far... longest I've kept a phone too lol. I've been looking around recently to see if there's anything worth trying but the only thing I'm really considering is the Samsung Vibrant. What's holding me back is the GPS problems, no Froyo, and no camera flash. That screen is really beautiful though... ugh. =\

I am on T-Mo, I figured I would Have to wait a little. The HD2 is a windows mobile 6.5 isn't it? I would really prefer an android.

you can run android on the hd2, take a look at the forum for it.
Hd2 is windows mobile but the Android development is coming along very nice...there's plenty of builds that are highly stable and fully functional...I've been using Android in my HD2 for the last 2 or 3 months...its the only 4.3 inch GSM phone with android running well...I would do that then get something at the end if the year when the new new drops...ya heard me..!!!?

It will be hard to find an adequate replacement even in the near future, the Nexus One was a hell of a contender in the power, performance and build quality. it's also still way more beautiful than any Droid (HTC, Moto) or G2. Guess I'm just wanting the next step up in this class of excellency.
Here this looks like a great contender!

the "mytouch HD" should be coming out in the near future.
3.8” display
Swype enabled keyboard
5MP camera with VGA front camera
HSPA+ capable
Video Chat over 3G or WiFi via Qik
Screen share feature, “Broadcast your HD pictures, videos, and movies to your HDTV”
“Genius” button
4GB internal storage with 8GB external SD included, expandable to 32GB
1 GHz Dual Processor
what i want to know is when is a better unlocked phone like the nexus one will come out. Meaning a phone not sold by tmobile that works with tmobile 3g/4g
bands that i can use the 9.99 dumbphone internet so tmobile wont find out.
Right now I'd say the G2 is the best replacement to get....until the inevitable next best thing comes out.
another nexus 1.......... or wait

I am actually surprised, even with all the great new android phones that have been released recently, i still can't find one that solidly trumps the Nexus one. It is a shame how poorly marketed it was, compared to the Desire or the Motorola Droid.

The Mytouch doesn't have a dual processor, whatever that's supposed to mean. It has a second generation Snapdragon at 1ghz, paired with the Adreno 205. Comes with a few games preinstalled, including Asphalt 5, so I imagine the graphics performance will be as good or better than Hummingbird.

Totally agree I think the One still has good specs which will last me a good while. Plus as the one has been out for 15 months there will be more mod support for it. Only thing I would like is OIS and laser auto but for my usage its a niggle rather than a problem. Looking forward to COS12.1 and Oxygen v2 though. Probably will flash Cyanogenmod later down the line though.
The Moto X Style looks like it might be a better phone than the Oneplus 2 to me, but neither are a big enough leap to have me pining for a new phone. I'll be sticking with the OPO for at least another year, and I can even envision stretching it into 2017 unless there's a really compelling leap in tech. To me we're at the point where these incremental updates really aren't doing much.
If they buy back my OPO, then I can move to OP2.

Nopes! There's no point at all to upgrade to OP2 from OPO considering it's just a refreshed version, nothing major is introduced. Instead, they stripped down some features. OPO is still performing amazingly well and the dev support is just awesome.
i will and of course i'll keep my ONE as well while the nexus 5 goes to my grand son. easy as that.
I unlock my Lastpass using NFC so I will definitely not buy it UNLESS I Lastpass will work with the fingerprint scanner of the OP2.
If the new nexus disappoints or is too high a price for the hardware then I might as well.
NFC I never use and I charge my phone overnight anyway. I'll be giving my one to my dad if that happens
Edit: you know what probably not since its heavier and thicker. I really don't like that aspect mostly the thicker part. Since there some metal I expect it heavier anyway

Is it true the LG one would have 2 gigs of RAM? I sorta expected 3. . . Even though LG's my first preference, the 3GBs of RAM on the Huawei variant kinda makes me wanna buy that one. (Of Course it's all rumors and speculation still) I intend to use loads of Xposed modules and recently xposed seems to be ram hungry.
But I hope the Huawei one also gets great developer support for custom roms and everything..
Cause I dunno, there's just something in the back of my mind that still isn't a hundred percent on-board with the idea of purchasing a Huawei.

Camera quality is not changed in custom ROMs on any Nexus device and all Sammy phones have better camera quality on TW ROMs that's a fact.

OEMs like Samsung, LG etc have proprietary drivers that custom ROMs don't have access to so the cameras are far less in my opinion but Nexus devices being Google, we have them, so you won't see any difference.

I wanted to buy it so badly but I am seriously bummed with htc decision to scrap the ir blaster... There's nothing that htc can offer to differentiate itself from others, time to get on the nexus train. Judging from last year's nexus, Google will put top notch hardware as well and I know that it also won't have an ir blaster but at least on the nexus one doesn't have to wait for bleeding edge software. Have bought every HTC phone since the nexus one, and I have gotten used to the ir blaster since the M7. Probably will give LG g5 a shot until the nexus comes out since it's the only major manufacturer to retain ir blaster this year (other than xiaomi but alas they don't support US LTE bands). The mi5 is sexy as hell.

From my experiences you will not be disappointed moving to Nexus devices. I was along time HTC user since HTC sensation and M8 was my last HTC device. After the announcement of M9; I was ready to jump off HTC ship. I moved to Nexus 6p and I am very happy making this decision. Couple things to keep in mind though. 1. Nexus is a pure Android device meaning it doesn't come with all features that HTC Sense Offer. I missed couple HTC apps like the music player, the sense UI with built-in Blinkfeed but do not worry. You can side load those apps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/htc-blinkfeed-plugins-devices-08-03-2015-t3049438). 2. I would recommend rooting your device and using a custom rom like PureNexus. This rom comes with tons of feature; it also offer CM13 version which has an awesome theme builder to customize styles, icons, fonts, bootanimations etc. My best part of having Nexus 6p is getting updates quickly. As you probably know the Android N preview 2 built is available to try. Anyway just my two cents. Good luck.

I always was a fan of nexus devices got them for so many family members. I am a tech geek can't live without root and xposed (blocking ads is essential hate ads on my device which for which root is essential). Only reason I held back was no ir blaster on nexus devices but now htc got rid of it too, such a huge mistake for a company that can not afford to lose a single customer, and they find a way to mess up this generation as well. Literally no reason left to stick with htc, expensive device that offers virtually nothing over its competitors (other than a developer friendly environment) for which nexus is way better anyway. For those that decide to get the htc 10 what would be the reason? Any way I look at it the next nexus device will be better in every way including the price point (maybe sd card slot would be the only difference) but 32 gb is more than enough for most and those that need more would get a 64 gb option. So here's to latest updates, nexus here I come lol.

I gave my LG 2 to my son and it also came with the IR blaster or what ever they call it, I used it at home and work on the vizio tv in the lunch room , it had the same reach about 20 feet that the vizion remote had.
I'm glad to hear you like the HTC . I HATE THIS PIECE of crap, more precisely the HTC sense. I bought it cause my 2 coworkers have it and love theirs and said it was the loudest phone around. to this day have not figured out how to turn off the S ON , so I can root this piece of ****.
I loved how the layout on the LG g2n worked, everything was logical and worked the way (I THINK ) for example my co worker LOVEs the fact that on the htc you click on a persons name, then you have to click on the blue phone icon in order for it to dial the actual number.
on the LG g2 when I found the persons name i clicked on it and it dialed. little differences like that drive me NUTZ !!!!
I have to warn you I am getting older and no longer a nerd / hardware / software enthusiast , but I finally figure out how to remove that app that comes installed on the first screen "highlights" why the F did they push that crap on people ? i have rest this phone so many times now, I no longer bother trying to remove it.
I guess I will give this phone to my son that plays games on a phone YUK , he has a i7 computer with a new nvidia card that rocks, and plays game on a phone ??????.
getting old, had to rant my apologies. still hate THC , all I ever wanted was that stupid antique phone they have that flips as the time changes (old memories)
Sounds like you'd be happier with an iPhone . . .

Deciding between buying Nexus 6P or OnePlus 3T

Hello Guys,
Confused between buying the new OP 3T which would be fairly ahead in hardware department with 821 SoC, 6GB RAM & DASH charge but then there Nexus 6P amazing speakers,2K screen, awesome camera and of-course the timely android updates till next nov.
Please suggest your views to help finalize my next Droid
Well it honestly depends on which features you require the most. Better specs does not mean a faster phone. If its possible. Try to use both. And then make your decision!

Please read this, it is sad, but it's happening a lot http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/phone-started-rebooting-randomly-t3501370
I have never seen such a problem mentioned in above link with my Nexus 6p unless you start flashing the phone. Its hard to decide between 6p and OP
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
You should pick the OnePlus 3T and I'm a Nexus 6P happy hardcore user.
What you gain:
- Newest SoC
- More RAM
- More battery life because the FullHD screen
What you lose:
- 0,2" screen size
- Stereo speakers
- 2K screen resolution
I love my Nexus 6P but honestly, if I will need a new smortphone I already know my choice.
My two cents.
Non of the above! Like the Nexus6 P, I think the Huawei Mate 9 will be a SuperStar!
Too big ?

I also love my 6P but I got the itch for a new phone. So I been pondering on the OP3T the Development for the OP3 is good and I would assume the OP3T would be also.
I really can't find another phone that catches my attention ..

The answer is simple unless you have Verizon or Sprint; then it's 6p.
So the answer is carrier dependent.
If any of you have ever had to deal with the outright lies and nonexistent support from OP, I would steer clear of them. I was one of the early adopters of the OPO and went through hell trying to get a phone that was worth a crap. Yes, it had great specs, but did not live up to the hype. In fact, the whole company was a hype machine in the early days. I am sure that there are some later adopters of the OP around here that can give you some later information about the company. As for me, I will never put myself through the hell of dealing with them again.

But given a urgent consideration if I have no working phone with me... I'll got for HTC10...
Bought my Dad that phone and he hasn't been happier.... No lags whatsoever... Compared to his 2nd phone Mi5...

I'll say wait a bit... We got a new processor coming in soon ... Like within 3 months... And then 821 is kaput....
But given a urgent consideration if I have no working phone with me... I'll got for HTC10...

I have a 6p and 1+3
My 6p is 10 months old amd and i can see it lagging
I mean 3gb ram isn't enough i have to reboot my phone every 4th day to clear ram
I am not a heavy user lol no games
But this is what it is
My 1+3 is 2 weeks old and i can see the difference
The only reason it's not my daily driver and i gave it to my dad was ****ty camera
It really sucked and being a heavy snapchatter lol i had to stick with my 6p
Go for the 1+3T after seeing the camera reviews
Even the front camera of 1+3 sucked so much
Cheers

What do you mean by new processor coming soon? Is that a new phone?

You should pick the OnePlus 3T and I'm a Nexus 6P happy hardcore user.
What you gain:
- Newest SoC
- More RAM
- More battery life because the FullHD screen
What you lose:
- 0,2" screen size
- Stereo speakers
- 2K screen resolution
I love my Nexus 6P but honestly, if I will need a new smortphone I already know my choice.
My two cents.

Ahhh ok me too a nexus lover ..I'll be upgrading from Nexus4 so i'm inclined towards 6P for its design, speakers, camera and quick OTA's .. but then reading all posts here & you too suggesting a better hardware is first then the other things.
I need to finalize today ..as OP3T is launching tomorrow.

3T of course. Newer soc, better battery life?
The 6p, as good as it it is right now is getting boring. I drooled every time I read about the 3T, Pixel, or the V20s.
6p for the aluminium body and front facing speakers
