Samsung OneUI [Exynos version] - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi people,
Can anyone tell me if there is an Exynos version for the Samsung S8 OneUI? Can't find it anywhere.
Why can't I just install the Snapdragon version? Whats the diffrence between those two?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78488268&postcount=9

Snapdragon and Exynos are 2 different chipsets, they have different architecture that's why you cant flash the software ment for one over the other one.

[Q] new exynos, AOKP for i9500 and new linux kernel

1) lack of source codes for the previous exynos in galaxy s3 is a well known problem preventing the ability to create good, custom and clean android roms for s3. therefore, many developers have decided ditching s3 custom roms.
im afraid there will never be any good clean android roms for S4.. or it will take a long time.
what do you think? why doesnt samsung release the source code of the exynos 5?
Will exynos 5's source code be released soon???????
2) a new linux version 3.10 has been release, supporting exynos 5 core.. when it will be used in galaxy s4???
3) how will linux 3.10 improve android? will it be better/faster?
4)Ive heard that samsung is busy developing a new SoC, Exynos 5420
when it will be released and what will it do

1- Exynos Code are probably never to be released though i heard about this exynos octa arndale version that may help in getting additional infos about the Chip
2 and 3-this new linux version is probably to be used with newer version of android it brings big.little optimazation so it will make the exynos SOC run efficiently however it is not know how it would improve it or using which scenario .and yes i will be faster and more power efficient
4- this SOC is more likely to be used with future devices like note 3

thanks for answering
when will exynos octa arndale version be released?
So does that mean we are not going to see AOKP on i9500 soon. I love AOKPs and am cursing myself for not buying the i9505 as it was available. Smartphone is no joy without AOKP.

We all miss AOKP!
Hello guys, an Android / xda developers n00b here...
The Octo Core GT-I9500 was the only choice here since it's the only S4 model shipped in my country so I'm a bit frustrated too about the AOKP thing - which I learned it may well be the next big thing after CyanogenMOD itself.
I'm about to flash Arrow ROM right now which seems pretty interesting and also will give Omega ROM a try, while we can't put our dirty hands on AOKP we surely have two really nice mods to play with
As such, I'm all years about your experiences - if any - with any of these two ROMs.
Cheers
so no aokp coming soon?
even GS3 got aopk faster

Guys!
I am thinking about Note 4 purchase, but x64 mode is very important for me. So I decided to choose 910C (Exynos) version, but unfortunately, Samsung lock this device on 32-bit mode.
Is there any chance, that Exynos Note 4 will get 64-bit mode on Android 5.0?
What you think about that:

According to this article by the renowned Exynos developer, Andreilux, it seems likely that Samsung will never update the Note 4 to run on 64-bit:
The big question is why Samsung choose to name this chip Exynos 5433 and not market it as a 64-bit chip in a new product lineup? The answer could be simply that we won't ever see the 5433 running in AArch64 mode. The chip's firmware and drivers are running on a "CAL" / Chip-Abstraction-Layer on the lowest level of the driver stacks. In fact, beyond the CPU cores (and GPU), the Exynos 5433 looks very similar to the Exynos 5430 which employs A15/A7 cores.

Also this post sums up the current situation and the future possibilities very well.

@AndreiLux is one of if not the most prominent kernel developer(s) on XDA. There's a bounty on the forum trying to convince him to write a kernel for the Exynos Note 4. He's the author of this article on AnandTech discussing 5433. It's pretty straight forward. 5433 is 64 bit capable but running in 32 bit mode. He's said multiple times in this thread that third parties can't get it working in 64 bit alone so it's up to Samsung. If he's saying it can't be done I'd take that over some lesser sources saying it can. Samsung's never mentioned that 5433 is 64 bit capable in any of their PR or interviews either.
To make things even more interesting, Samsung announced Exynos 7 as a future chip. Here's the official Exynos 7 B2B website.
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/Exynos/m/solution.html#?v=7octa
Unless I'm missing it, no where on it does it mention 64 bit. Has anyone seen a press release from Samsung directly saying Exynos 7 is 64 bit? The press covering it have been saying it is but it's odd, at least from what I've found, that there's nothing saying so from Samsung. @AndreiLux can comment but Exynos 7 appears to be identical or near identical to 5433 specs wise.
Possibilities:
5422 was a near identical chip to 5420 and the former shipped with HMP enabled. We all know Samsung could have gone back and updated 5420 and didn't. So Exynos 7 could end up being an updated 5433 with 64 bit capabilities and a new model number leaving 5433 to remain 32 bit.
Exynos 7 is really 5433 with a new name and when it starts shipping under that new name will have 64 bit enabled. Samsung will via s/w update versions that shipped as 32 bit to 64 bit.
Samsung could care less about any of this knowing that the masses don't buy devices based on processor better yet the difference between HMP vs. non-HMP and 32 bit vs. 64 bit. Especially when it'll take many months for a critical mass of 64 bit Android devices to be in people's hands for app developers to start investing in coding for it. People on XDA care about this stuff; the masses not so much. How many people traded in six month old Note 3's for SGS5's simply to get HMP? Tens?
My guess is #3. Samsung will introduce 64 bit, probably with much fanfare, knowing it's not going to sell more devices but extracting PR value from it. Unless some major change in their thinking occurs the 64 bit version of 5433 will have a new model number and 5433 will die 32 bit. All just my opinion. You're all welcome to believe and debate your own. Bottom line is no one here (me included) can do anything but speculate what Samsung's future SoC product and positioning plans are and how they'll treat previously released products from an upgrade stand point.
Believe what makes you happy.

So to answer the OP, no developer can enable 64-bit.
And there are some serious doubts as to whether even Samsung will do it.
It's all up in the air and you will not get any definitive answers.

I wonder if we could get some predictions when Samsung will update Note 4 Exynos to Android 5.0. If they won't able the x64 mode at the beginning, we shouldn't expect any changes in future months. Why? Because Samsung will focus on Galaxy S6 (probably THE FIRST x64 device from Samsung), and after that we will little close to Note 5 premiere.
It's all because of marketing & PR! I hate it!

It will be January 2015, at least that's when the staged rollout is rumoured to begin. It will be relatively soon, as the S5 has already been updated and a fully working test build for the Note 4 has been shown in a video courtesy of Sammobile.

Well, I tried to use the Nexus 9 build settings that had a 64bit option set to arm64-v8a on my Exynos Note 4 running 5.0.1 Lollipop but unfortunately, I think because of us being octa-core kinda deal, it won't work. I'm waiting for the galaxy s6 to get out there so that I could use that guy's settings. After all, their processors are one and the only difference is the frequency.
how do you know the s6 is running in 64 bit mode ? it has only 3GB RAM which makes me think it is also running in 32 bit mode.

A9 pro Nougat update

When A9 pro will get nougat ??
Take a look. Very soon.
Very soon means....when or in how many days or weeks.....
If i had to guess i'd say up to 6 months from when spotted on benchmarks. It seemed to be like so for the S7.
Maybe coupled with the next security update (hoping) . A5 A3 were quick. S7 was the first, so might have been thoroughly done.

I m very promptly checking twice daily. Hope you are also.
I read somewhere (cant remember source) it MIGHT get it after the last model gets updated (which would start 27/07), so.... Hope starts after tomorrow. Its a phone that is still on market and has the crappiest of supports, outdated phones have already been updated first. AND there are NO accessories for it on the official samsung stores. Gotta remember to buy only extremely popular phones or flagships instead of actually good ones that dont rip my pockets.

 checking samsung update history here, it takes between 50 to 60 days between updates. The last one here was 21/6. Means 2nd week Aug might be a good guess.
This is a real good phone without samsung (less compared to their other models) / xda dev support. Still after 1 year of release no custom rom / kernel available. Never been like this with any of my earlier devices, Samsung or otherwise.
If we are lucky enough, next update will be only a security patch only. Will again leave us yearning for nougat for another month or so. My little ray of sunshine :victory:
Samsung going to release Nougat on 8th of Aug

Why didn't we get 7.1?

So what is your complaint exactly? You're angry about the fact that we didn't get a rom then, even though we're getting the latest version now? You knew about it, bought it, then came here to complain about it 7 months or so afterwards?
What was so important that changed from 7.0 to 7.1? I have a feeling you're just looking to whine about anything possible
My complaint is pretty clear, not sure why you can't see it.
When Android 7.1 was released, it was seen as a Nexus/Pixel exclusive with pixel-only exclusives. It's more surprising that the Note 8 did come with Android 7.1 than the S8 not getting an update. Most skinned manufacturers decided early on to skip 7.1 in favor of 8.0
Why didn't we get 6.1?
Samsung releases the major builds and frequent updates. We don't need stuff that's more suited for a pixel. If you're that concerned, buy a pixel.

Short answer. Do you seriously expect them to complile thousands of packages all over again for a version that changes basically nothing, only to do it all over again 2 months later for a major release?

Where are the stickers in camera?

Hi all.
I have a friend who just bought a Note FE but found out that there are no stickers in the camera app. The whole sticker button isn't even there, as if it's not available at all.
Is that the case?
If yes, how could it be?! Even the J7 Prime (a low-end model) has it! And both J7 Prime and Note 7 were released at around the same time. So why??
Nope. there is no sticker in camera apps. There is one in the editing apps. Why? its old 2016 device release to clear up their so called not use stock for so called fan.
