Mi a1 pie update - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

i have successfully installed Android pie on my mi a1 with vpn but now can i flash my phone with a custom rom??

Why would you want to flash a custom rom now? In any case, you should do alot of reading up instead of asking day 1 questions. There are many discussions here and on the official forum on the problems with pie.

Need help with Xiaomi Mi A1 upgrading to Android oreo

Recently, I have purchased Xiaomi Mi A1. Also, I have rooted the device. I want to install Android oreo [custom ROM] in that device. can anyone upload the ROM? Please? Waiting for the ROM from 1 week.
There r no roms availabile for it yet.. let's wait for the developers. The issue is that it's a A/B partition..some developers have tried twrp but let's wait patiently & watch.

Turn A1 into Mi 5X or not?

I am about to receive my Mi A1. In general, I do prefer MIUI over plain stock Android (...yes, I know that is not that common ). So naturally, I am thinking about to directly flash the A1 into a Mi 5X.
What are your opinions? Anybody here who has done it? Bugs afterwards? OTA?
Not going to work... You could brick the device..
I hear somethink about differences in partitions so better just don't do that because you can REALLY brick your phone.
Mi A1 has A/B partition which allows seamless updates whereas Mi 5X has the normal single partition. I suggest you to wait for about a month. Xiaomi will release the kernel sources (hopefully) this month and developers will make a MIUI ROM. If you tried to flash the Mi 5X ROM, you will end up bricking your phone.

What happened to XDA and moderating team?

If you wanted MIUI, you should've gotten yourself a Mi 5X. What's this nonsense thing, flash A1 into Mi 5x? It won't work. Be prepared for trouble if you try to do so.
Wait for kernel sources to be available, development to swing in. There will be a number of custom ROMs including MIUI.

Please, before asking anything read and search, there are many many many threads about A1 vs 5X. If you want Miui just because of Miui and no other reason than I can't get it why you bought A1, 5X is in general cheaper then A1.
Can't wait for Xiaomi to release kernel sources and someone ports Miui so this can stop.

List of GSI ROM working on MI A2

Hello everyone,
As a lot of us are using GSI roms on our A2. I was hoping we can create a list of working GSI roms on MI A2 as a lot of them have few things broken for our device. Kindly share your personal experience so that a list can be updated on the opening post of this thread, which would help us selecting the stable ROM for our device.
Thank you.

Do Xiaomi Mi A1 Android pie bugs still exist?

I want to upgrade my Mi A1 from Android Oreo to Pie. But, I have found that there are many posts about Xiaomi Mi A1 pie bugs(network instability, low call volume, battery drain, etc). So, I want to know whether these bugs have been fixed or not after August 2019 security patch update.
If you haven't messed up with your A1 (with unlocking, rooting, custom ROMs etc), you have nothing to worry about. I've been using the stock Pie since its very beginning, without a single problem. It's working flawlessly. Go for it!
