Horrible battery life on stock Oreo - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I really appreciate every help now
cause now I'm really facing serious problems with battery life
Everyone are getting 6 hours of sot but I barely get to 2.5h!
I'll provide as much information as I can
My phone is A2017G
On Oreo stock a2017g b02 ROM
I just haven't got any more than 3hrs of sot.
Before that, I was on a2017u B20 ROM with custom kernel for 17.x magisk and the RF Signal was using more battery than screen!! Like 2x times more than screen(I've tried the Chinese version of Oreo too!
Build 16 and 17! Didn't enjoy much from battery life!)
Now on A2017G version RF Signal usage is completely fine(3_4%) but now there's this new battery destroyer.
In my battery usage screen,
In apps section:"Others"!!! And it uses over 50% of used battery! That's it! I have absolutely no clue what is that or what should i do
I just don't know what to do...
The battery health is good , like ,2500/2700 mah
Using accubattery.
And I checked the frequency of the CPU and
All cores are on , and it jumps between 16% and 40% at idle (usually)
I checked for modem too. It's just the stock Oreo modem from stock ROM couldn't get anywhere with that.
I tried not installing any sorts of custom recovery or magisk after flashing full edl ROM but no change at all.(and yes I wipe everything before ROM installation,I mean I just don't wipe SD card and that usb something option, wipe everything else)
I just want Dolby Atmos and the sound chip.
I'm thinking about an AOSP custom ROM (Havoc OS maybe?)
But the problem is that , I have never seen more than 3hrs of sot in my phone's entire life!
I really think that the problem will carry on with every ROM.
You're help really means a lot to me...

TBH that SOT is pretty normal for G model, the 6 hours SOT that you speak of does not exist at all in the stock ROM, but on Custom ROMs (heard mostly from people using RR that they have 6hrs SOT)

Hate to break it up to you, but the battery being ~2500 mAh is totally crappy... 2300 mAh was the point of no return to me, shutdowns start there.
I wonder why you're using ancient nfound stuff but okay. Set up a decent GSI like AEX 6 (you can get the build from the official webpage, just get aex 6.0 a-only gsi and also flash gapps for 9.0 before booting), install it with Kranoner's vendor (google his androidfilehost profile) and flash hellsgate eas then magisk 18. Also flash the NFC fix, it's necessary even if you don't use nfc. That's probably the best setup for battery. After all that, also buy a battery and swap it later.

Really?! I mean i thought that 2500 mah is showing good health considering the max capacity is 3100. But you're the professional here, so i bow to you
About Gsi and Aex 6... My biggest question is that, are pie roms stable? Cause that's why i didn't go for pie roms .i felt like it's still unfinished as a complete stable package. Please let me know what you think about this.
I said it before but you're helping really means a lot to me and i really appreciate it. Thanks

check this out (our charge voltage is 4.4v)
https://batteryuniversity.com/_img/content/lithium2.jpg
there you can see that capacity goes off a cliff after about 80% pretty much regardless of the charge voltage.
Pie GSIs are stable enough now, definitely better than the whole Oreo deal when it first started.

This next question i wish i didn't have to ask but i wanted to install aex 5.8 before this RR 6.0.0 that now I'm using but first it gave the vendor error.
I solved it with a patch that was supposed to creat vendor partition. Then it gave error 7 which i couldn't solve and went for the EzPz one(which was NFound's
Post)
How do i solve it or am i going to encounter this problem anyway?

It's as simple as reading the guides... You have to install the BOOTSTACK

The B12 Bootstack should do it. Works with nearly all GSI I've tried.

plz maintain marshmallow based rom also

At first Thanks to devs for a good progress in N based ROM for our little precious where miui is still on Lolypop.Though @gkalen made miuI usable for us.Thanx to him also.
I saw some debates about abandoning marshmallow based ROM halfway. But I think it's not true. Those ROMs was(not ARE) pretty much stable for us.No offence, they were much stable (I am talking about sound ,app and other crashing ,long charging period etc) than N.Yeah, I know that N is still on development. BUT now RR (M)and CM(M) are giving setting FC ,huge battery drain ,But those M based rom had no problems when there was maintainer for these ROMs.
So as the title says plz draw some attentions to those M based ROM and update them on lineage OS. I know every on busy but plzzz.M is not so outdated to be ignored.
I am mostly talking about CM (M) and RR(M).

What you are talking about Is almost impossible
If we think on your question
There are users who will complain to update KitKat to lineage
What you are talking is and will not be done
There is a release ready version of CM 13 that is perfectly fine to use and if you want any additional features you can add xposed and customize it best as you can. I think what you are actually asking for is out of question.

I have been using nougat for almost 2 months .Tried almost all N based ROM.As I prefer mostly Lineage base and customizable rom.So I tried to stuck with LOS or RR or Tesla(aosp). At the point of smoothness N is better than M.But facing these issues:-
LOS:-charging time is 6hrson original charger(didn't try latest nightly build).
RR(N):-Battery drainage(don't know why )
Tesla(N):-app crashing(CoC,CoR,Boom Beach etc) and setting FC at some display option.
So I just requesting for a update of those M based ROM for regular using.Because M based ROM was much stable at these points. So I just want a single update these ROMs to lineage. As
CM(M):-can't find latest nightly download link
RR(M):-Setting is crashing after some usages and huge battery drain but at the era of M these were not present.
Now I am using miui Hellas(L) by gkalen though I am not very much fond of miui .But I have no choice.
Thanx.
Basically, marshmallow is out of range

I don't know why you are facing strange issues
In lineage os charging time 2:30-3:00 hrs with original charger also i turned usb fast charge off
And in RR battery backup is average but it doesn't drain (disable all wakelocks) this will solve battery drain issue on almost every Rom
And in Tesla I used more than a month and not a single app crashes (only crashes when you change theme and its due to substratum)
If you want to use Marshmallow then use CandySix By Mr.AW it best ever battery backup on any custom Roms and disable wakelocks otherwise you'll find battery drain on any Rom

I allready told that i work only for Miui , i will not flash a Xiaomi device with any other type of OS , only Miui .. if i need CM or any other kind of rom i can buy any other device , Xiaomi is for Miui not other OS ..

you can use mokee 6.0.1... it is being actively build after every 3-4 days... The most important point being it is only released as a release candidate hence no worry about stabilty.. flash N based custom kernal or any other which suits you or if you need to and you are good to go

New Miui 8 Xiaomi.eu Multirom 7.2.9_v8-7.0 for Helium (SD652)

Hello,
xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAXPro_7.2.9_v8-7.0.zip
Greets, Peter
Hahaha, typical. I just yesterday installed Lineage 14 after running xiaomi.eu Marshmallow roms for my MI Max and today they release they new one...
Would be awsome to hear about how these roms compare?
I do like the integration with your MI account on MIUI roms, otherwise...meh, don't feel like I'm missing out on much.
Sure the interface is a bit nice...
But for me batterylife and smoothness are they main features that I'm looking for.
Id love to hear about your experiences with xiaomi.eu roms compared to the lates ASOP Nougat flavors.

I have not tried the lineage rom. Can i just download the rom and gapps and flash through twrp? The instructions seemed critical so did not try it out. Something like do this if your miui version number changes ?
Today i have downloaded and currently using the latest xiaomi.eu rom. It looks stable but lags a little here and there.

Well, I'm running Mi Max Hydrogen 32 GB / 3gb ram version and did the following to flash the unoffical lineageos 14.1
1. Downloaded the hydrogen rom: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B60OA264UF_PMjVQN3A5a2g2MDg - lineage-14.1-20170201-UNOFFICIAL-hydrogen.zip
2. Downloaded the following firmware: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B60OA264UF_PRmZpSGZpa2ZxOHc - firmware-HYDROGEN_MDG-7.1.5.zip
3. Downloaded pico opengapps for arm64 soc - http://opengapps.org/
4. Did a full wipe (except user data) i.e. not factory reset but selected in TWRP 3.0.2.0 the partitions I wanted to format.
5. Flashed the Hydrogen Rom in point 1.
6. Flashed Firmware in point 2.
7. Flashed Pico Gapps in point 3
8. Wiped Cache & Rebooted.
Its still working fine, ofcourse I made sure to backup my sms and other stuff I wanted to keep from before....MIUI backups and cloud services aren't really compatible with Lineage
Can't really say anything about the batterylife, it's decent but the phone hasn't received a decent nights charge since yesterday.
A few things that I did was to ad adway and modify youtube so that I get an adfree experience without exposed.
Also I've moved Gsam to privilaged systemapps in order to have good battery tracking.
I also use Greenify as I did with Miui 8 and have Greenyfied Facebook, Instagram and such apps that tend to hang around. Also I've Frozen the Stock Music player since it was waking the phone a lot from deepsleep. Did it with Titanium backup.

Noted. Thanks will flash tonight.
Is it smooth? Any lags? The new xiaomi.eu nougat rom is the same as marshmallow. Nothing new..
What about the lineage rom.. Does it feel like you are using nougat?
can i dirty flash 7.2.9 over the leaked MIUI 8 Android 7.0 version?
will it still lock my bootloader?

Actually miui nougat from xiaomi.eu doesn't lock bootloader on Mi Max. It locks bootloader only on mi4c, mi4s and mi note pro.

Now I've actually tried both RR 5.8.0 and Lineage unofficial 14.1 and in my opinion RR is definitely much smoother.
Flashed it about an hour ago so battery and sot is unknown.
But as for Linage the battery life is on par with what I got on miui, maybe slightly shorter but didn't test it enough to get conclusive results.
Lineage is smooth as well, smoother then miui but nothing that I was super amazed by. I didn't have the small hangups when you switch apps and such so it was good, totally satisfactory.
RR on the other hand is a clear difference in smoothness. Gonna test it a bit more, if battery holds up then I'm sticking with this rom.

Tested the battery this night and rr is dozing quite well.
0.3 - 0.4% discharge per hour and it's really smooth as well

Insane battery drain

hi guys, i had this battery drain that made me go around with a 20k mah powerbank everyday for a while and i bought a new battery thinking it was a hardware issue but at least in the past day(i tried it only for a day) the new battery isn't any better, i also use greenify and naptime but still comes from 100 to 40 in 1 hour or less, is there a fix to that?
I'm currently running rr official nougat 5.8.3 with franco 3.10 kernel i don't know anymore what to do
i tried battery configurator but didn't help.
i also changed the type c connector but i don't think it has anything to do, i swapped it when i changed the battery.
I'm not sure how much my answer is going to help but please try to upgrade the OP2 firmware to the latest one and then clean install the custom OS on it. It happened to me too but not to an extent of yours and it got fixed by clean flashing the custom ROM. P.S I was already on the latest OP2 firmware.

ROM REVIEW:
after using it for around 2 days the battery life is mediocre it will last you about 8hrs with around 2-3hrs of screen on time . i havent expierienced any major heating issues apart from when i was playing games like PUBG . when battery drops below 30 you will experience major fps drops while gaming. nubia's multiwindow mode is one of the best i have tried compared to oneplus,MIUI,AOSP.

For a better battery life I'd suggest you flash ui 5 en 3.05 and then clean flash miui 10..... I don't know why but I've always experienced a better battery backup after using stock en ROM about 4-5 hr sot , but this is only applicable for 7.x ROMs. Switching to 6.0 will update the modem.... Probably why we experience 2-3 hr sot.

had the same experience with stock modem(better battery life and no heating) so made a backup of it and restored it after flashing miui 10.
another thing to mention that i have tried crdroid, lineage, resurruction remix but they all had battery drain bcuz of google play services.. so i am using miui 10 now without google services installed, performance, smoothness and battery life is way better now.
hope our dear developer @warlock9000nt gives a brief thought to miui 11/ oreo

Due to kernel difference there are some issues with dual booting like switching between roms causes bootloop........ (I might have messed up while flashing something )
For steps on how to dual boot just follow this
https://youtu.be/FJmtMjBXWHo
Use the APK i have put on previous reply
While patching scroll to the bottom and select Z11
Edit:
The bootloop/ stuck on bootloader is due to clicking on "update ramdisk" in the dualboot app.

I haven't faced that one before.... Try rebooting,
Or try removing and replacing the simcard.
If that doesn't work fall back to EN3.05 frimware and flash 2.86 again.

download gapps 6.0 pico and flash after you have booted the rom once.
if you want to flash nano gapps you will have to find a way to disable google startup service. preferably keep titanium backup open in background before rebooting to twrp.

Is anyone having good experience with MIUI 11? And has anyone downgraded back to 10?

So I was going to try and update to MIUI 11 but saw a lot of complaints of battery drain and more, and I was wondering, is anyone having a good experiance after the update or is this basically on every device? Mine phone is the European version, should install MIUI 11.0.2.0 PFJEUXM. Any reviews for this release?
Also, has anyone downgraded from 11 to 10 with no issues (rooted device with TWRP, not fastboot)? I've had issues when I downgraded from 10.3.12 to 10.3.7. The OS was installed but the device became unusable and I had to install 10.3.12 again
Thanks in advance
I own two MI 9T, one global and one EEU. Both are on MIUI 11 and I don't have any issues whatsoever. On the contrary, notifications now come in as they should. Apparently they fixed that.
Both phones are not modified (i.e. locked bootloader and unrooted). The only thing I did was to debloat it on user level (via ADB).
The battery drain happened just once months ago with MIUI 10. Never happened again... I'm pretty sure it was a rogue app or service.
And downgrading... I don't consider that (wait for unlocking bootloader flash TWRP etc.) and if I look at the forum I sometimes think that there are way to many help requests because of bricked phones

Thank you guys that was really helpful
I'm gonna try the weekly miuimix rom. I was wonder which twrp do you have though? Also, I'm aware that format data is required according to the instructions but just in case, is it possible to dirty flash it, or to restore data from nandroid backup of stock miui 10 after miuimix installation?
Thanks again

Alwayas the latest chinese TWRP
No trouble here (with Android 10 too). Battery drain does fluctuate though - some days I have 80 percent left in the evening, some days it's just 50 percent with no difference in usage. I also had days of heavy usage with 70 percent left shrug

Can you backup and restore on latest Chinese twrp? I currently have Team Win twrp (mauronofrio's) and I can backup but I get "extracttarfork() process ended with error=255" error when restoring. Is it the same on Chinese twrp?
I'm having bad idle time because of battery drain. But without that is really good update. Hope they fix the drain in coming updates.
