New Miui 8 Xiaomi.eu Multirom 7.2.9_v8-7.0 for Helium (SD652) - Xiaomi Mi Max Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello,
xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAXPro_7.2.9_v8-7.0.zip
Greets, Peter

Hahaha, typical. I just yesterday installed Lineage 14 after running xiaomi.eu Marshmallow roms for my MI Max and today they release they new one...
Would be awsome to hear about how these roms compare?
I do like the integration with your MI account on MIUI roms, otherwise...meh, don't feel like I'm missing out on much.
Sure the interface is a bit nice...
But for me batterylife and smoothness are they main features that I'm looking for.
Id love to hear about your experiences with xiaomi.eu roms compared to the lates ASOP Nougat flavors.

I have not tried the lineage rom. Can i just download the rom and gapps and flash through twrp? The instructions seemed critical so did not try it out. Something like do this if your miui version number changes ?
Today i have downloaded and currently using the latest xiaomi.eu rom. It looks stable but lags a little here and there.

Well, I'm running Mi Max Hydrogen 32 GB / 3gb ram version and did the following to flash the unoffical lineageos 14.1
1. Downloaded the hydrogen rom: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B60OA264UF_PMjVQN3A5a2g2MDg - lineage-14.1-20170201-UNOFFICIAL-hydrogen.zip
2. Downloaded the following firmware: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B60OA264UF_PRmZpSGZpa2ZxOHc - firmware-HYDROGEN_MDG-7.1.5.zip
3. Downloaded pico opengapps for arm64 soc - http://opengapps.org/
4. Did a full wipe (except user data) i.e. not factory reset but selected in TWRP 3.0.2.0 the partitions I wanted to format.
5. Flashed the Hydrogen Rom in point 1.
6. Flashed Firmware in point 2.
7. Flashed Pico Gapps in point 3
8. Wiped Cache & Rebooted.
Its still working fine, ofcourse I made sure to backup my sms and other stuff I wanted to keep from before....MIUI backups and cloud services aren't really compatible with Lineage
Can't really say anything about the batterylife, it's decent but the phone hasn't received a decent nights charge since yesterday.
A few things that I did was to ad adway and modify youtube so that I get an adfree experience without exposed.
Also I've moved Gsam to privilaged systemapps in order to have good battery tracking.
I also use Greenify as I did with Miui 8 and have Greenyfied Facebook, Instagram and such apps that tend to hang around. Also I've Frozen the Stock Music player since it was waking the phone a lot from deepsleep. Did it with Titanium backup.

Noted. Thanks will flash tonight.
Is it smooth? Any lags? The new xiaomi.eu nougat rom is the same as marshmallow. Nothing new..
What about the lineage rom.. Does it feel like you are using nougat?

can i dirty flash 7.2.9 over the leaked MIUI 8 Android 7.0 version?
will it still lock my bootloader?

Actually miui nougat from xiaomi.eu doesn't lock bootloader on Mi Max. It locks bootloader only on mi4c, mi4s and mi note pro.

Now I've actually tried both RR 5.8.0 and Lineage unofficial 14.1 and in my opinion RR is definitely much smoother.
Flashed it about an hour ago so battery and sot is unknown.
But as for Linage the battery life is on par with what I got on miui, maybe slightly shorter but didn't test it enough to get conclusive results.
Lineage is smooth as well, smoother then miui but nothing that I was super amazed by. I didn't have the small hangups when you switch apps and such so it was good, totally satisfactory.
RR on the other hand is a clear difference in smoothness. Gonna test it a bit more, if battery holds up then I'm sticking with this rom.

Tested the battery this night and rr is dozing quite well.
0.3 - 0.4% discharge per hour and it's really smooth as well

Wich Rom are you using guys? need help

The best rom that you know guys? For now i'm using aicp 12.1 but i have some problem with the notification, so i wanna know the best rom with good battery life no led bug!
I had the last hraffninns RR build (5.8.4) (security patch from last August) .than is tested acip by unterwelt (Gruß am dich!) and RR 5.8.5 (unterwelt continued hraffninns build). Now I'm on Lineage 14.1 (Nosgoth is back).
Sometimes I moved back to miui (original).
RR 5.8.4 had the best SoT (about 7-8h) only miui is little better.
5.8.5 got less SoT but updated security patches.
Lineage 14.1 : always popping up notifications > app xy crashed (but it didn't actually, only that notification shows up about 5x per day).
Last week I downloaded Android one from 4pda, but didn't test it. I think I'll try the latest miui port.
If the SoT will be same like before, I would be happy.
Overall I liked haraffins RR 5.8.4 most.
I didnt check if LED worked on each build. I think so, I didn't have any problem so far, at least no major thing.
Beste Grüße or best regards.

For a better battery life I'd suggest you flash ui 5 en 3.05 and then clean flash miui 10..... I don't know why but I've always experienced a better battery backup after using stock en ROM about 4-5 hr sot , but this is only applicable for 7.x ROMs. Switching to 6.0 will update the modem.... Probably why we experience 2-3 hr sot.

had the same experience with stock modem(better battery life and no heating) so made a backup of it and restored it after flashing miui 10.
another thing to mention that i have tried crdroid, lineage, resurruction remix but they all had battery drain bcuz of google play services.. so i am using miui 10 now without google services installed, performance, smoothness and battery life is way better now.
hope our dear developer @warlock9000nt gives a brief thought to miui 11/ oreo

Due to kernel difference there are some issues with dual booting like switching between roms causes bootloop........ (I might have messed up while flashing something )
For steps on how to dual boot just follow this
https://youtu.be/FJmtMjBXWHo
Use the APK i have put on previous reply
While patching scroll to the bottom and select Z11
Edit:
The bootloop/ stuck on bootloader is due to clicking on "update ramdisk" in the dualboot app.

I haven't faced that one before.... Try rebooting,
Or try removing and replacing the simcard.
If that doesn't work fall back to EN3.05 frimware and flash 2.86 again.

download gapps 6.0 pico and flash after you have booted the rom once.
if you want to flash nano gapps you will have to find a way to disable google startup service. preferably keep titanium backup open in background before rebooting to twrp.

Horrible battery life on stock Oreo

I really appreciate every help now
cause now I'm really facing serious problems with battery life
Everyone are getting 6 hours of sot but I barely get to 2.5h!
I'll provide as much information as I can
My phone is A2017G
On Oreo stock a2017g b02 ROM
I just haven't got any more than 3hrs of sot.
Before that, I was on a2017u B20 ROM with custom kernel for 17.x magisk and the RF Signal was using more battery than screen!! Like 2x times more than screen(I've tried the Chinese version of Oreo too!
Build 16 and 17! Didn't enjoy much from battery life!)
Now on A2017G version RF Signal usage is completely fine(3_4%) but now there's this new battery destroyer.
In my battery usage screen,
In apps section:"Others"!!! And it uses over 50% of used battery! That's it! I have absolutely no clue what is that or what should i do
I just don't know what to do...
The battery health is good , like ,2500/2700 mah
Using accubattery.
And I checked the frequency of the CPU and
All cores are on , and it jumps between 16% and 40% at idle (usually)
I checked for modem too. It's just the stock Oreo modem from stock ROM couldn't get anywhere with that.
I tried not installing any sorts of custom recovery or magisk after flashing full edl ROM but no change at all.(and yes I wipe everything before ROM installation,I mean I just don't wipe SD card and that usb something option, wipe everything else)
I just want Dolby Atmos and the sound chip.
I'm thinking about an AOSP custom ROM (Havoc OS maybe?)
But the problem is that , I have never seen more than 3hrs of sot in my phone's entire life!
I really think that the problem will carry on with every ROM.
You're help really means a lot to me...

TBH that SOT is pretty normal for G model, the 6 hours SOT that you speak of does not exist at all in the stock ROM, but on Custom ROMs (heard mostly from people using RR that they have 6hrs SOT)

Hate to break it up to you, but the battery being ~2500 mAh is totally crappy... 2300 mAh was the point of no return to me, shutdowns start there.
I wonder why you're using ancient nfound stuff but okay. Set up a decent GSI like AEX 6 (you can get the build from the official webpage, just get aex 6.0 a-only gsi and also flash gapps for 9.0 before booting), install it with Kranoner's vendor (google his androidfilehost profile) and flash hellsgate eas then magisk 18. Also flash the NFC fix, it's necessary even if you don't use nfc. That's probably the best setup for battery. After all that, also buy a battery and swap it later.

Really?! I mean i thought that 2500 mah is showing good health considering the max capacity is 3100. But you're the professional here, so i bow to you
About Gsi and Aex 6... My biggest question is that, are pie roms stable? Cause that's why i didn't go for pie roms .i felt like it's still unfinished as a complete stable package. Please let me know what you think about this.
I said it before but you're helping really means a lot to me and i really appreciate it. Thanks

check this out (our charge voltage is 4.4v)
https://batteryuniversity.com/_img/content/lithium2.jpg
there you can see that capacity goes off a cliff after about 80% pretty much regardless of the charge voltage.
Pie GSIs are stable enough now, definitely better than the whole Oreo deal when it first started.

This next question i wish i didn't have to ask but i wanted to install aex 5.8 before this RR 6.0.0 that now I'm using but first it gave the vendor error.
I solved it with a patch that was supposed to creat vendor partition. Then it gave error 7 which i couldn't solve and went for the EzPz one(which was NFound's
Post)

This next question i wish i didn't have to ask but i wanted to install aex 5.8 before this RR 6.0.0 that now I'm using but first it gave the vendor error.
I solved it with a patch that was supposed to creat vendor partition. Then it gave error 7 which i couldn't solve and went for the EzPz one(which was NFound's
Post)

It's as simple as reading the guides... You have to install the BOOTSTACK

The B12 Bootstack should do it. Works with nearly all GSI I've tried.

Thanks! I have seen all these roms in the tread. What i wanted to know was the first hand experience of the people who have used it. If not all, at least few of the above mentioned roms.
i personally love Bootleggers rom......give it a try...
Well, at it's current state, Havoc OS v2.2 is the most stable Pie ROM for our phone, in my opinion. I've just recently flashed it and it's giving me very good battery backup and performance. PUBG seems to work good too (I haven't played the game in high settings as I usually play it in classic setting which works really great).
The sounds are not exactly same as stock but it just works well. The audio output is good too.
The ROM has Pixel 2 Gcam pre-installed and it works good, again. Though for some reason Pixel 3 Gcams aren't working yet in the latest build. So there's that.
There are no major bugs. The only known bugs to me as of now is the Pixel 3 gcam crashing, and the headphone issue during call (the other person can't hear you while calling using headphones).
Havoc : good & stable
1. Liquid Remix latest build (Unofficial though)
2. Havoc OS 2.2
3. Bootleggers ROM latest build.
No major bugs in either of them but Liquid Remix and Bootleggers give the best audio experience ( Almost close to stock ). These are the best stable ROMs right now in my experience. Shuffling between them for almost a month now. Customize more with Magisk modules. Cheers !!

Can you please share the link?

Favourite rom and why?

Hey guys,
I'll soon be getting the Poco F2 Pro and like I've done for previous devices with an active rom development community, just wondering what is your current rom of choice and for what reasons.
This can be a place just to share your experience of the various roms available to us and provide a summary of what you like about it, frequency of updates, battery, features, bugs etc.
Looking forward to hearing back...
oneOS until they didnt having some crazy idea to charge weekly updates 2e,so they stop to developing it because a lot of people didnt like this idea.
xiaomi.eu is also good. I am using it instead of oneOS

Thanks for the reply.
What do you like about it, in comparison to stock rom etc?
Anyone any other suggestions? I see there's over 15 custom roms for this , which is great, though would be keen to hear people's experience with some of them.
I'm currently tempted by Havoc, just because I've enjoyed that rom on previous devices. Just I wish to avoid any bugs and just want a feature-rich stable rom, no background drain or significant things broken...
Xiaomi.eu is a good rom. I am on weekly. Every friday I got updates, also you have stable. On weekly ,you get first the latest updates from china ROM. Battery is also good too. No bugs or any bug problems with this ROM

Nice, stable roms are always a winner.
Have you tried any of the custom roms?
I used to love custom roms in general but then found myself just valuing stable stock much better these days. I do miss some features from custom roms though, but stock does just seem the best in some ways.
Unless someone can suggest a custom feature-packed rom that doesn't sacrifice performance...
Only OneOS that eas the best rom after bootleggers that I have on 8pro
for aosp like custom rom ,i'll choose crdroid ,because its stable enough , lots of customization , up t0 date .

Is it possible to use banking apps and payment apps with xiaomi.eu rom? Does it have any contraindications to use xiaomi.eu instead of stock? Thank you.

Thanks for the response.
When you say the camera, is that because you missed miui camera and prefer it over gcam? That's my thoughts too.... Will try crdroid on Tues when I can unlock, but I almost sense I'll go to stock miui eu but rooted and debloated

Last stable and weekly EU rom pass safety net and have the playstore certified whitout root.
xiaomi.eu is the best one for me.
Since end of January, the weekly builds are good, they pass safetynet, play store is certified, google pay works, all my bank apps work, even enterprise office365 is fine (without root of course, I haven't found any hack for this with magisk activated).
MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi phone app, no add, various tweaks included, more responsive and better battery life than stock.
A no brainer if you want a MIUI based ROM!
This is now my daily driver for my work phone!
Just missing an android 11 fully compatible TWRP (impossible to remove these xiaomi.eu icons with the current version) for Nirvana

Does call recording work too?
Is dual sim active with a 5G sim?
Xiaomi.eu automatically updates itself via OTA when there are new builds?
Then I unlock the bootloader, install the TWRP, install the weekly xiaomi.eu and all the banking apps, playstore, etc. do they work or do I have to do something else?
Thank you.

I'm on Xiaomi.eu too and I can confirm that call recording works well because of Xiaomi dialer in this ROM, there is even an option for automatic recording.
As for the 5G and dual sim - from what I know this is technically unpossible. There probably are no phones at the moment which support dual sim with 5G.

As for the dual sim with 5G, I mean one sim in 5G and one in 4G. If you read in the instruction manual it says that they would have activated this function with an update ...

Do you have a link to the TWRP you used to install xiaomi.eu?
I think I want to try it, especially if you say there are no problems with banking apps...
But you say root doesn't work?
I am currently using ANCIENTOS, a lot of customization and options and especially a brightness control for AOD.
The autonomy is very good and the FOD is fast.
The play store is not certified, but my banking application is working.
