VOLTE and Wifi Calling. - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Switched to the OP 6T from an Iphone 7+ which had access to VoLTE and WifiCalling on my carrier (Koodo, sub-brand of Telus). Looking over the carriers android support, they seem to have only specific carrier branded phones that are capable of accessing this network functionality. I have tried following the steps for the OP6 to enable volte and wificalls
1: Go to the dialer and enter: *#800#
2: Select Enter
3: Go to Logkit
4: Swipe down to function switch
5: Tick VoLTE, VoWiFi switch
6: Reboot
Which did enable the switches under sim options. However my Calls on simcard revert to hspa and wifi calling does not engage when making calls.
Now I m not sure if this is due to the ims apn not directing my traffic correctly to volte, or maybe my nv settings....
So just wondering if anyone has had any success enabling volte on any canadian carriers .
The options in the 6T logcat menu were different as well, than what i saw posted the OP6 forum.. so I m not sure if its my carrier or oneplus being the reason for the failure to connect. See pic, it states that these options are dev test only. So is this the issue?

I'm trying this forever with Freedom Mobile... It is annoying that neither OnePlus, or Freedom Mobile want to do first step and make it happen...

These steps work with 6T as well

But doesn't activate wifi calling with freedom, maybe you will have more luck with Koodo

I'm in the UK on the Three network so not sure if this will help you much. I had VoLTE and VoWIFI enabled using:
*#800#
but only VoWIFI worked for me. I followed the XDA guide above and tried the recommended settings in the opening post, but using the specified profiles would only get one or the other working. In the end I had a mess around and tried a few different profiles and found the following got both VoLTE and VoWIFI working for me:
H3G_Denmark_Commercial
Hope this helps.
Ooms

I tried all of them none works with Freedom mobile.

I talked to Freedom customer service via Twitter last night. Even if I followed up with his instructions to enable volte and wifi calling on my SIM, I was still unable to use either feature. At the end, we concluded Freedom didn't support 6T at this moment.

They need to approve it on their end. But they do not want to do it so they can push sale of devices on their end.
If you go under
*#*#4636#*#*
Phone info
... (Press 3 dots)
IMS Service Status is showing unregistered as they don't approve IMEI
If you see that other guys in the other topic call their carriers to get activated / approved on the network.

Thanks for this, I am on koodo with the se issue. Going into that menu, my volte and WiFi calling toggles are provisioned but checking IMS status it's unregistered as well. Can a high tier tech manually provision it by adding the imei to their dB or would that be too deep.in the belly of the beast to get access to that part of the backend operations?

To be honest I don't know what they need to do on their end. There is also IMS number under phone info.
I need to see if it is legal to change IMEI number in Canada if yes. I have old freedom mobile phone and op3 that I bought for testing. And want to try that option to see if it would make it work that way

I also have the second line with Rogers and do not have LTE, either. Kind of disappointed if OP6T cannot handle this properly.

As per this website it is saying yes.
https://willmyphonework.net
Honestly I don't care about volte.
I want wifi calling... As Freedom mobile coverage sucks this will be big thing for me. Let's say in basement I always lose reception.... Or when I'm traveling I can always find wifi network to use and make call if needed.

It's disappointing that op6t has everything ready on hardware spec but no wifi calling or volte from many carriers.

Yes and OnePlus is not even bothered to listen to you. If you complain to them, they will directly blame your carrier. I had many rounds of chats with them regarding enabling VoLTE on my phone and all ended up with blaming my carrier. But thanks to that QPST method which enabled VoLTE on my phone by changing modem profile. So this clearly implies that OnePlus don't want to put any efforts on any market where they don't have full presence but still they want to sell their devices through official suppliers/distributors on those countries. Truly disappointing. [emoji35]

India-volte-vodafone enables volte on Rogers on SIM 2, but no wifi calling.
No luck for Freedom on SIM 1.

Anyway to get T-Mobile WiFi calling to work?

I am just about to switch to T-Mobile and I see that there isn't WiFi calling enabled on the pure...which is just mind boggling to me. Are there any ROMs or anyway to get it working?
My understanding is that WiFi calling requires 6.0.1 on an XT1575, or that the feature isn't present in 6.0. I am on VZ but bought a prepaid T-Mobile SIM to try out their coverage in my area (better than VZ) but still no wifi calling... I'd like to get my hands on 6.0.1 to test further but can't find it...

Hmm...hope your right about the 6.0.1. That should be released any day now
Maybe someone else can chime in here but since T-Mobile doesn't appear to tie IMEI of device to SIM card, I don't see how they could selectively prevent a feature like wifi calling from working if it's supported in the device OS.. ?

Yes it does now, but was not available until Verizon added it to the prepaid line up of devices, but in that same note I mentioned it because the OP wanted it on a different network and Verizon had it blocked in the same network so I doubt it would work without root

TMobile

Curious.... What are people going to do if they get the phone on TMobile and it has no volte? Essential won't tell us so who knows
I thought this was already stated that it would work with all carriers including Tmobile
Yes but that doesn't mean it will support volte, HD or evs
I’m pretty sure it was asked directly if the phone would work with those features and they said if the service supports it then it will work as intended. The only questionable thing was some sprint uses which I forget what it was.
well, my Mi Note 2 supports VoLTE so I have no reason to think that this device will not work accordingly.

For wi-fi calling I just went to an area with wi-fi but no cell signal and confirmed I was able to make a call with it turned on. For VoLTE I just checked that the data didn't drop to 3G or EDGE when I made a call. And for HD Voice I just called another T-Mobile phone and it'll say "HD" next to the call timer if it's an HD Voice call.
Wifi calling turned on today on my phone after not working the past 3 days.

Wifi Calling on At&t Google Pixel 2 XL

Opened the Settings app earlier and there was a suggestion at the top to turn on Wifi calling. I'm on At&t and November update.
How did you get this to work? I've been trying to days to enable this option. I pushed "adb shell settings put global wfc_ims_enabled1" but to no avail has it worked.
I am on AT&T and have tried this with both a Google Pixel XL 2 from Google and Verizon. If you could give me any details of what your setup is like so I can try to enable this I'd dearly appreciate it!

+1 how? Very curious.
a screenshot showing the actual call going over wifi is needed.
unless ATT changed their mind in the last week, WiFi calling isnt available for the Pixel 2/XL, even if the option is enabled, the account has to be provisioned, and the phone needs the proper IMS profile, ATT to this date has refused to allow it.
This is the first I've seen the option even appear. Will test some calls and report back.

Looks like it isn't up and rolling yet, but the fact that the option appears has me hopeful. At&t still doesn't say that it supports VoLTE on P2XL, but we have that working, so perhaps Wi-Fi calling is coming soon.

Here's hoping. My apartment is on the bottom floor so reception is very spotty. What has been weird though is that if I start a call when I have reception and move to a spot in my apartment where there is no cell service, the call persists. So part of me thinks me enabling Wifi Calling from ADB may have done something?

Because idiots around the US have no idea what they're talking about then they say "VoLTE on AT&T only works with AT&T-branded Android phones or iPhones". As long as a manufacturer certifies their device with AT&T, and configure their devices with the proper IMS profile for AT&T's network, VoLTE will work. Google (HTC/LG) certified the Pixel 2 / 2 XL with AT&T for VoLTE and RCS, both of which work if all criteria are met (proper SIM card, IMEI updated in billing system, options turned on), and right now, 8.1 DP1/DP2 are needed to use VoLTE on AT&T's network, as the modem/IMS configuration was updated on the phone to support it.

VoLTE is enabled in Android 8.1 for AT&T. I just flashed the final factory image and it does indeed work. You do have to verify that your sim card is properly provisioned for VoLTE. As for the WiFi calling portion of this conversation, I still cannot access the "Wi-Fi calling" setting within "Mobile network settings."

How about if you're just on 4G? Turn off 5G. When I'm on a call using 4G LTE and surf web it stays on LTE and doesn't drop.down to say 4G or in the uk it'll probably be 2G or 3G if I was originally on 4G.

Mine always says 4G
Never goes to 2 or 3G. Since I got the phone.
I don't think the 3 network is capable of 2G, that was kind of its thing back in the day

App doesnt say it's active no.
This is the readout from

Says volte is provisioned but greyed out. So I think it is on but unable to turn it off.
Like I said it was on and had a visual status bar icon but doesnt on 11
Slightly dubious app though is it functional on 11?

Mines the same and I note your phone doesn't show the Volte icon as being active either, I don't think we've got it on because my Oneplus 7 Pro would show it

The volte slider it's in the ON position dude
As it is on yours.
As @Limeybastard has pointed out.
Can you make a call and surf the web at the same time? Don't rely on that app.

Yes but then I'd expect to be able to do that without Volte because data and voice would be separate

Yes with EU/UK Firmware and the same chipset this should be the same 3,4 & 5G on offer in theory

As long as the radios are the same then you should be good to go. I haven't cross referenced the two models .

Comical. Mines the other way around. Shows volte in status bar for both sims but that menu shows volte off. However disabling one sim then shows those options volte enabled via that menu posted. Rather confusing so to speak. However in practice volte is working.
Edit worked it out. For me, if I select voice call as "ask .." then those sliders in the 4636 menu are off.
