[MIUI 10 Camera Fix] [For converted A2 users][Can not connect fix] - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Guides, News, & Discussion

Mi 6x and MI A2 have same hardware but when we flash mi 6x MIUI rom to Mi A2 camera does not works properly(Enhance low light Option makes it stop ) But the camera modules are identical , basically I am talking about the global variant . Here is the twist xiaomi implemented same camera module but they set some hidden code number in the hardware module so that these module can be matched with our IMEI and The image processing system can understand that it is Mi 6x or mi A2 !! The idea is not quite enough to stop us !!!! WTF is the need of this , It took 10 days to figure it out .
So every thing is already fixed in every miui rom nothing to patch or replace. We can easily bypass or fool the image processing system.
Mi 6X's Code name is "wayne" we can change it "whyred" it is the code name of redmi note 5.
What we need
- Root
- A root file manager[ Xplore, Ex ]
- A working Brain.
steps
-Go to "System/etc/device_features"
-Rename "wayne.xml" to "whyred.xml"
-Now Open System/build.prop
-Now find out the line "ro.product.device=wayne"
-Change it to "ro.product.device=whyred"
-Now make a reboot
Yes you got a fully working camera!!!

Final info about possibility to enable Camera2APi on MiNote3 without root

Hi,
I read a lot in this forum and in other sites about the possibility to enable Camera2API on our fantastic MINote3 phone but, at the end, I don't understand if is possible to enable che Camera2API WITHOUT root the device. Can someone give me a final answer about this question ?
PS
If the answere is "yes, is possible without root", then other questions are:
is ok this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-google-camera-root-magisk-enable-t3747585/page10 (see post 98) or is only ok for MI A1 ? Are there other methods ?

If you can install TWRP you can enable it without rooting your system, as TWRP has root priveliges while it is running.
Here you can find a zip file to flash in TWRP to enable it.
I have used it.

Only one question: is necessary to flash the twrp on the device or is enough to load the twrp via the command "fastboot boot twrp.img" ?

It "should" work to only boot into TWRP without flashing it.
That is if you do not want to install TWRP, just use it once.
The next time you reboot, your new TWRP will be gone again.
I have not tried this myself.
I will try the procedure where I only boot twrp (without flash it) then will try to enable camera2api parameters on built.prop and also change permission of this file (with su permission).
I will update this thread with a feedback about the operation
Hi,
finally I enable Camera2API on Mi Note 3 (with last official global rom) WITHOUT root the device. These are my tasks:
- unlock the bootloader (with MI official utility) and lost all my data
- flash TWRP Red Wolf then run it and, to give the right access to the partitions, I wipe and format my device from the TWRP menu and reboot the device
- Then, from TWRP, I install "HZQ_MIUI_Camera_Mod_CAMERA2_API_170824.zip"
Thanks Cobben for the good informations
PS
Now I use GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.2.apk and run very well. The quality of the night shoots is better a lot respect xiaomi default camera
I add that with gcam the videos are better that xiaomi cam:
- less nois
- better color
- much details
Then, at the end, gcam become the main camera app on my device (and I will use xiaomi cam only for boken effect or camera zoom)

Hi, I installed the Xiaomi.eu rom and installed also the Google camera (v.7.9.4 - everything is working correctly even the Slow motion). I can say that the Miui camera is on par with Google camera or a level down. The Miui camera uses the algorithm in the open-source Gcam app. You can try the Xiaomi.eu rom which is based on China rom - it is great.
In my case instead I use the last global 9.5.3.0 and gcam is the best

Slow motion not working.
Video recording UHD4K not working.
Video recording 1080p 60fps is over zoomed.
Night sight working but viewfinder is not working, green screen.
Frontal camera detected as 5 MP only.
Should I be rooted?
If I install the magisk module, do I alter system partition? Or maybe lose OTA?
Thanks in advance.

If you have time, convert to 6X and flash Carbon PIE ROM. Latest version is two days old, and Pixel 3 gcam port is stable, no crashes. In general this ROM is much better than stock, battery life is solid. Compared to stock Pie ROM, 4K recording and slow motion do not work in Gcam, but I am using Snap Cam for 4K recording with EIS. In summary Carbon PIE is best ROM so far for A2/6X, you have some customization compared to stock and have double tap to wake, and most importat for me, Pixel 3 camera port is working like a charm
@Mr.Nice.ba, to much hustle for another variant of pie rom, and I must say, I am very pleased how stock PIE works for now, maybe I'm not demanding user after all...but thanx for proposal.
Perfect mod.
Thanks, @Gleison lima!

Is it possible to have the 20 mp front on google camera? what i understand is that is a camera2api limitation, am i alright?
Anyway, thanks op for the mod, i really like it. Just a question, is it possible to get a raw file with night sight? i don't know if its possible with pixel 3, just asking. Again, thank u :highfive:
I just installed the camera.apk and the camera crashes right away. Do I need to install the magisk module?
UPDATE..I FLASHED THE MAGISK MODULE WOOOORRRKKINNGG.
Night sight is working and viewfinder also working for me. Haven't tested anything else. Just received Mi A2 today and already sideloaded pie and installed magisk and enabled gcam.
brother when will you update this app?
Apk doesn't install, i am on pixel experience latest build
Is there a way to install it

Xiaomi Mi A1 issues with Chinese ROM

Hi, I bought a privately imported Xiaomi Mi A1 64, and it has the latest OS on it, Android 9 build PKQ1.180917.001.V10.0.8.0.PDHMIXM.
However, it has a few non-major, but annoying quirks, such as: when you are in any application, and you get a phone call, there is no visual indication of an ongoing call, you have to switch to the call (e.g. like the iPhone has the green line at the top of the screen whenever a call is in progress). I tried to install a 3rd party app that provides call status at all times, but it didn't work well. I consulted a cellular repair lab, and they checked it and said that this device doesn't have the "international" android Firmware, but some kind of Chinese derivative, that's causing the issues. There are no signs of this, because everything is in English. But they said, it is too risky to try and root it and install some kind of mod to set things right. I consulted several other labs and got similar answers.
I already tried a complete factory reset.
What mod would be recommended for this phone that would be a "normal" Android build for this device, that comes with all the basic features built in?
many thanks

Be careful. If your phone is imported from chinese, then It could be the Mi 5X, which has an different system compared to Mi A1. Installing Mi A1 roms directly may cause brick.

Your best bet is finding a IMEI-checking website. However, if yours is imported from China then it's high chance it is the Mi 5X, which is Mi A1 in Chinese. There is no "international" or "chinese" rom version for Mi A1 because in Chinese it's a different phone. Mi 5X ran MIUI and doesn't have A/B like Mi A1.

A real one will say:

poco f1

I am planning to buy K20
need to know just one thing
does k20 also uses MODIFIED vendor image like Poco ? (for treble)
or it uses original vendor image ?
reason ?
poco f1 is on modified vendor image and
1. gives crashes and 1tb data use warning errors if usb tethering is done on 3g
2. volume boost mixer path file alteration doesnt work
can any user confirm "mixer_path.xml" file existance in k20 pro under /system/vendor/etc or system/vendor ?
as poco is missing this file , if this file exists in your k20 then i will buy
If you look for any available Android Q based custom ROM for this phone they all ask to flash it on top of the original/stock MIUI vendor and not wipe it. Don't know if this answers your question.
Again, these are not GSI ROMs, they're just semi traditional ROMs without a built in/custom vendor set.
I'm sure running a GSI is much easier and better than on the Poco F1 because the K20 came with Android 9 which vastly improved treble support over Android 8 (F1s original OS I believe).

THIS meants its using MODIFIED VENDOR IMAGE like poco
https://www.xda-developers.com/poco-f1-vendor-android-pie-project-treble-gsi/
now the only way to BOOST volume is via custom kernels and using franko app and/or smart kernel manager (github)
in my old redmi note 5 pro, i always made RX4 DITIGAL and RX5 DIGITAL volumes to 120 from 84 and i could hear redmi note5 pro from another room (playing music on youtube)
thank you for the confirming brother <3

well it has three variants
K20 6gb/128
k20 pro 8gb/256
and k20 pro premium 12gb ram / 512gb on sd855+ , this one is 600+ euros
and yes k20 has custom roms
I've found the Mi 9T Pro, 6GB 64 and 128, for less than 450 Euros in the most expensive store nearby and the 9T with 6GB and 64 for 240 on eglobalcentral.eu
I'm mostly concerned about the openess of Xiaomi towards releasing all of their code to help ROM developers. I've seen nothing but good stuff.

Well in the more expensive store the Mi 9T is in the mid 300 Euros so it's around 100 Euro difference. Same as in the cheaper store, the Pro is in the mid 300 Euro range.
I know the community is much bigger with the Pro and the CPU is a beast and if I could I would buy it but the 9T packs a big punch. If my 2017 Galaxy A3 with a hack job Treble patch runs like a beast and well then the 9T will be much better.

2. volume boost mixer path file alteration doesnt work
can any user confirm "mixer_path.xml" file existance in k20 pro under /system/vendor/etc or system/vendor ?
as poco is missing this file , if this file exists in your k20 then i will buy

this shows that MI9T/K20/K20pro/K20proPREMIUM is using MODIFIED VENDOR IMAGE for treble support! this also means that later this will create problems for LineAgeOS development as for POCO they already protested and LineAgeOS stopped development on 7Aug2019 (pie) and never released Android10 either, but yes unofficial versions are on XDA
mainly mixer_path.xml, if you increase RX5 Digital volume to 110, and HPHL/HPHR left/right channel number from 8 to 20, *(just above the Rx1 volume line,, and REBOOT
you will have AMAZING speaker, headphone, bluetooth headfone sound!
with Modified vendor image when this main file is MISSING, and all other mixer_path(suffix).xml are inplace! NONE of them had affect on volume (I TRIED manipulated numbers in my poco f1 for ALL the files having RX5 Digital volume, lines...) it doesnt work!
and yes with CUSTOM kernel you can boost volume but it will ONLY AFFECT earphone! speaker sounds very low on poco
so i was wandering! before i upgrade, who can help ..
I thank you from my heart for helping me!
vendor images needed to be flashed manually when you decide to step in to custom rom from MIUI11 to PixelExperience or HAVOC, and DFE (disable force encryption_) must be flashed in twrp otherwise you will have to fomat you internal storage to gain acces under NEWLY FLASHED vendor.img file (security keys change).... DFE flashing is unsafe so just take backup always and perform FULL FORMATING and let the new keys get reinstated for encryption purposes....
later magisk20.1 can be flashed to gain root access..
i think i will still buy k20proPremiuim version as i am getting on offer and it has 12gbRam ...
is overall speaker sound GOOD ? can u hear video on youtube from next room?

Now some words from me,
Hi I am Omer, I own a Mi Max 3 and Huawei Mate 20 X.
today I ordered a Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition and therefore I am going to be a part of this community.
I am going to update this thread with any upcoming update, just like I did for Mi Max 3 thread.
I am also going to buy a Black Shark 3 Pro for daily use but that phone cant be unlocked.
I hope you enjoy your phones!
if you have any questions feel free to ask!
by the way:
In order to improve the communication performance and stability of the mobile phone, will be upgraded the Qualcomm baseline - Redmi K30 Pro will be suspended from May 25. It is expected to be suspended for about three weeks. This upgrade does not affect the stable version.
Great job!!!
Thanks for doing this like it should be done. I tried but my tutorial is **** compared to this. Cheers ?
Okay, my Bootloader is unlocked and i did the install the current (may 24th) beta version of the xiaomi.eu ROM.
The installation was a bit rough around the edges: The currently available TWRP comes from a chinese developer and starts with chinese language. You can't read a thing.
Fortunately, i have used twrp so often already that i remembered how to change the language without having to read the buttons.
Having installed TWRP via fastboot, i booted into it, changed language and formatted the data partition under "Wipe". Then i connected my pc, transferred the ROM file to the phone and installed it.
I was a bit disappointed that my dear F2 changed it's personality immediately: it identified as Redmi K30 Pro from the first boot on. I know this "problem" from my Mi 9T Pro where the xiaomi.eu ROM changes its name to Redmi K20 Pro, but there was a patch in xiaomi.eu's K20 Pro forum that reversed this effect when flashed via TWRP. This kind of patch does not exist for the Poco F2 as of now, so i guess i'll have to live with it.
Other than that, all seem to run well. First boot took a couple of minutes, but Installation went smoothly and phone is restoring my configuration and installing all my apps right now.
Magisk 20.4 is installed and working. Let's hope that new beta versions will appear next week.

Im pretty sure this is because they are based on the china rom which is available for the redmi k30 pro/zoom
If xiaomi can differentiate between zoom and regular editions on kernel level (they share same kernel and same rom), Im sure that xiaomi.eu forums will be able to create a patch for poco if needed.

Hello mate, i was trying to install it to my f2pro and it all ended in bootloop, it is mandatory to wipe the data partition before installing the rom? Is there any tutorial? I tried to install it twice ending in bootloop and having to install the official rom with the xiaomi rom tool.
Thanks!

Hello there,
In the installation instructions it says what to wipe and what you shouldn't wipe. I think you need to go back to stock and try again.
Cheers ?
Wow thanks for this! Need to wait for a week for Xiaomi to unlock my device (such a bummer as Oneplus don't have this waiting game). Any how, I hope (like it's brother K20 Pro/Premium), there will be AOSP, Lineage and PA flavored roms that will support our beloved Redmi K30 Pro/Zoom/Poco F2 Pro.
Thanks for your efforts on making this thread!
Great to see the development for his device has started .
Does the MIUI Dialer also have the build-in call recorder?

In my experience (also from my Mi 9T Pro before), you not only need to wipe the data partition, you even need to format it (can be found under "Wipe" in TWRP) when coming from stock rom to xiaomi.eu for the first time.
Once on xiaomi.eu ROM, you can install newer versions by dirty flashing: no need to wipe your data partition, your apps, data and settings survive.

Thanks for confirming. I can finally unlock my bootloader today (had a waiting period of 360 hours..), guess I'll flash this rom directly after that since my device will be wiped with unlocking now anyway.
Did you use the TWRP from this tread?

I'm not sure from which source i downloaded it, since it was some days before my bootloader unlock time ran out, but the file is named "recovery-TWRP-3.4.1B-0328-REDMI_K30PRO-CN-wzsx150.img"
At the moment, this seems to be only working TWRP for the Poco F2. Since it comes from a chinese developer, you have to change the language to English first, unless your fluent reading chinese.
To do that, you have to pull the slider on the bottom of the start screen to the right, then use the third button from the top in the second column of buttons (which is the "Settings" button) and then use the small globe symbol in the upper right of the screen.
Hi all, i want to report one bug:
Whenever enter to a game with full screen mode and play it for a while, the full screen gesture can not be use any more. So i have to press power button to lock my phone(game is running) then unlock the phone to come to the game. Here i can use the gesture as normal.
Yep

Yes. It has the call recorder ?
I just succesfully unlocked, rooted and installed the MIUI 11 Stable. Restoring now, so far so good.
And the call recorder is working perfectly indeed (Y)

i read on the xiaomi eu forum that on one of the weekly roms, the mic was not working on calls https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/no-voice-during-the-call.56159/ . Can you check if the mic works if you call somebody? I am just waiting for my unlock timer to end and want to install xiaomi eu.
As im writing this, the new xiaomi eu stable miui 12 came out, just for your information. The problem with the mic was on miui 12 so i hope they included a fix for the stable version before rolling it out.
Unfortunately, the stable MIUI 12 is not yet for us. Just for MI10, MI10Pro, HMK20MI9T, HMK305G.
No beta
No beta for this week either, links for the 20.6.16 were published and there is nothing for the K30 Pro neither the Mi10 nor Mi 10 Pro
