After downloading several themes. The themes app is extremely slow.

It is much faster than Honor Note 10 (kriling 970) and than one has also 2GB RAM more, because i have EVR-L29 6GB model. The Kirin 980 is realy great!

Its much snappier than my note 8 samsung
Even pubG opens up a lot faster on the mate 20x

2-3 seconds maximum for heaviest apps
NBA 2K17 takes about 15 secs to load a game.

Apps launch fast, just a little bit slower than my Redmi Note 3
On average, apps launch in about 2.3 +-0.3 seconds. Pretty nice numbers for this phone.
I have both a Moto G4 Plus and the 6X and the 6X beats the Moto G4 Plus in almost every app launch. I'm not playing games. There are apps that take a few seconds on the Moto G4 and they open almost in half the time on the 6X. So far I'm impressed.
What about real racing?
Slightly impressive as it beats other phones for it's price range.
Very good but few takes time.
When in ram they launched very fast but EMUI kills most of them in background
It's great.
Has improved on EMUI 5 for sure

Emui is not that much optimized but app launch speed is good except some app takes time
Launch speed is way better than my previous phone.
impressive speed..but having a low ram issue from past few days
Apps launch very quick.
Apps launch nice and fast on the Honor 6X.

This phone opens apps very quickly and scrolling is very smooth. I'm quite surprised at how good this phone's chipset is!

I'd say it's more to do with their software/hardware integration. The Kirin 970 is not much faster than the SD835 and certainly slower than the SD845 but the P20 Pro still feels faster than phones with either of those chips.
Seems to be delayed by Android-EMUI handshaking.
Apps launch very fast on EMUI 9.1. I have the 6GB RAM version and have been very pleased with app launch speeds so far.

can easily switch between applications. but yes, EMUI kills app in background like FB, twitter though not a big deal for me

No. Honor 8X is good choice. Don't mind those social media applications are closing. Not a big deal

Honor 8x is great at holding many apps in background (10 apps and more with 2 games...it may hold more because 2,5 GB were still available) but you have to disable one setting called App launch under the Battery settings.

I don't really dislike Redmi note 6 pro but I have handled that device and I feel Honor 8x is better. Purely for software point of view, EMUI felt more natural and matured than MIUI. On 8.2, I haven't came across any issue that I felt like reporting whereas in MIUI there are such issues that you won't even know how to explain it properly and it goes months within any fix.
Redmi Note 6Pro is not that bad.

If you see Redmi Note 6Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Chipset and Honor 8X has HiSilicon Kirin 710 Chipset, where Honor 8X has Mali-G51 MP4 Graphics and Redmi Note 6 Pro has Adreno 509. Rest all are mostly the same or similar.

As I have used miui extensively I can tell that EMUI is a more differentiating factor for me.

App Launch speed- Honor 20 Lite
The Kirin 710 is capable of running the day-to-day tasks which makes its speed nice.
Each time I switch around apps and back to Chrome it reloads the page, I switched off "App Launch" to manual and allowed all possible options, it did not help. Honor 20 Lite has very aggressive memory manager, which kills the joys of multi tasking.

Overall speed

Would you say that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Redmi Note 8 Pro exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

When I compare my previous RN7 and this new RN8 pro, the speed is absolutely better on 8 pro.
You can notice the difference and its big.. phone is super fast.. battery is amazing..I get about 11SOT,and camera..
I am looking for some tutorials , because camera is unbelievable..
And have so many options..
Compared to my Mi MIX 2s there is no difference in speed / performance. Though I'm not a gamer.
Super fast
Super speedy
Very happy with speed. Noticeably quicker than note 7 and plays games with ease. Also haven't experienced any over heating.

Is the Redmi Note 8 Pro really good? Because I am planing to buy for my brother.
I've been testing just moved from a huawei y9 2019, it has way better memory management, and it is faster overall, just a couple of micro lags when intensive multitasking.

When I change RN7 and buy RN8 pro I was amazed with speed, with smooth.. camera..
Mediatek chip is much better than Snapdragon 660..

After a lot of time thinking i decided to buy this and now there might be a 730G version, i must wait now..
I'll bet it won't be as good. I run mine this morning on antutu benchmark 3d and I was in with 845 SD what they was doing. The SD 730 was very low on the benchmarks. Ill keep this there working on development and things are going to happen. Mediatek is releasing source codes so things are going to take off.

I keep reading about people having this phone stutter. I don't know what they're doing, but I have about 9 gigs taken by my Apps and it still manages to do everything blazingly fast.
The installation speed is also amazing, at least 2-3 times faster than my friend's galaxy S8 plus (which ,arguably, has same performance) and the latter has started to stutter.
Redmi Note 8 Pro is fast.
There is a brand called Honor, which is a sub-brand of Huawei. At present, Honor has a higher market share in mainland China than Redmi. For young people, Honor has developed and configured Huawei's high-end Mate series and P series functions, which are cost-effective. Currently there is only Redmi by XDA, so I think I need to share this good thing.

The phone is absolutely unbelievable, G90T beats Midrange Snapdragon in terms of gaming, with Custom ROMs, it feels as fast as a older flagship device, amazing work Xiaomi!
Redmi note 8 pro is beast but never paired it with MIUI
