2-3 seconds maximum for heaviest apps

NBA 2K17 takes about 15 secs to load a game.

Yes of course.

Apps launch fast, just a little bit slower than my Redmi Note 3

On average, apps launch in about 2.3 +-0.3 seconds. Pretty nice numbers for this phone.

I have both a Moto G4 Plus and the 6X and the 6X beats the Moto G4 Plus in almost every app launch. I'm not playing games. There are apps that take a few seconds on the Moto G4 and they open almost in half the time on the 6X. So far I'm impressed.

What about real racing?

Slightly impressive as it beats other phones for it's price range.

Very good but few takes time.
When in ram they launched very fast but EMUI kills most of them in background

It's great.

Has improved on EMUI 5 for sure

Emui is not that much optimized but app launch speed is good except some app takes time

Launch speed is way better than my previous phone.

impressive speed..but having a low ram issue from past few days

Apps launch very quick.

Apps launch nice and fast on the Honor 6X.

Honor 8 pro FASTER than OnePlus 5?

The processor Kirin 960 doesn't outperform Snapdragon 835 in benchmarks but who cares about benchmarks in 2017 the real life performance of Honor 8 pro seems to be just smooth even while gaming and other stuff and their is a plus point that the Kirin 960 processor doesn't seem to get overheated while playing heavy games unlike Snapdragon 835 in OnePlus 5 so I'd feel to opt or prefer the underrated Honor 8 pro or Honor 6X or Honor 9 against OnePlus 5 considering the price that Honor Phones are available!
If you get your hands on honor 8 pro, please tell us how it compares against OP5
People still care about benchmarks in 2017. Wow.

Honor 8 pro is no slouch in terms of performance. It's a real flagship in performance. You can keep 20 or maybe more apps open at the same time. I have tried with 10 and none of the apps closed abruptly.
Apps open quick.

Just C4ETECH speed test between honor 8 pro and OP5, you'll see they're too close.

This is why benchmarks are becoming pointless. Every 2017 flagship performs like this. Thoughts @joe2k01?

And I don't even understand those speed tests comparing two smart phones together. I mean who is gonna compare them in real life. No one uses a stopwatch to calculate the time.
People get mad if one phone manages to open some app 2 seconds earlier and crown it as the king. Come on.[emoji23]

Well, you're damn right
All the flagships these days open apps fast enough, for me, the only criteria for choosing a smartphone would be how good the development is for it

I was a rom freak. I loved customising my phone a lot with all the features. I am using a custom skin for the first time and I am absolutely not missing any feature from custom rom (except maybe double tap to sleep and wake).
And so, I am not feeling the need to root this device. The performance out of the box is exceptional.

That is true. But I don't think that the Honor 8 Pro is much of a improvement over the original Honor 8.

I completely disagree with that.
Honor 8 pro has a bigger and higher resolution screen with higher body to screen ratio.
Homor 8 pro has better chipset with larger ram and internal storage.
Honor 8 pro has a better front facing camera.
The things that could have been upgraded are -
Rear camera - Both honor 8 and honor 8 pro have cameras with same aperture (f2.2). I would have liked the aperture to be atleast 2.0 on honor 8 pro.
Amoled screen - Maybe they could have used an amoled screen
Nothing else really. I am completely OK with my Honor 8 pro. Just want 8.0 upgrade by the end of year.

There's a big difference in screen, battery, performance, GPU...etc

The GPU on the Kirin 950 wasn't that bad. It rendered games perfectly with hardly any lag or dropped frames.

Well, I played riptide GP runs well on medium but, at max settings it lags sometime and I notice frame drops.
However it is good but not great

This phone opens apps very quickly and scrolling is very smooth. I'm quite surprised at how good this phone's chipset is!

I'd say it's more to do with their software/hardware integration. The Kirin 970 is not much faster than the SD835 and certainly slower than the SD845 but the P20 Pro still feels faster than phones with either of those chips.
Seems to be delayed by Android-EMUI handshaking.
Apps launch very fast on EMUI 9.1. I have the 6GB RAM version and have been very pleased with app launch speeds so far.

Multitasking/RAM

You're busy and don't have time to wait, which is why you need to stop reading this thread and get back to organizing your Pogs. Rate this thread to express how the Honor 8X performs when multitasking. A higher rating indicates that the Honor 8X keeps many apps in memory so that they don't need to reload, and that when moving between apps, transitions are smooth and performance is excellent.

can easily switch between applications. but yes, EMUI kills app in background like FB, twitter though not a big deal for me

No. Honor 8X is good choice. Don't mind those social media applications are closing. Not a big deal

Honor 8x is great at holding many apps in background (10 apps and more with 2 games...it may hold more because 2,5 GB were still available) but you have to disable one setting called App launch under the Battery settings.

I don't really dislike Redmi note 6 pro but I have handled that device and I feel Honor 8x is better. Purely for software point of view, EMUI felt more natural and matured than MIUI. On 8.2, I haven't came across any issue that I felt like reporting whereas in MIUI there are such issues that you won't even know how to explain it properly and it goes months within any fix.

If you see Redmi Note 6Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Chipset and Honor 8X has HiSilicon Kirin 710 Chipset, where Honor 8X has Mali-G51 MP4 Graphics and Redmi Note 6 Pro has Adreno 509. Rest all are mostly the same or similar.

After downloading several themes. The themes app is extremely slow.
It is much faster than Honor Note 10 (kriling 970) and than one has also 2GB RAM more, because i have EVR-L29 6GB model. The Kirin 980 is realy great!
Its much snappier than my note 8 samsung
Even pubG opens up a lot faster on the mate 20x

App Launch speed- Honor 20 Lite
The Kirin 710 is capable of running the day-to-day tasks which makes its speed nice.
Each time I switch around apps and back to Chrome it reloads the page, I switched off "App Launch" to manual and allowed all possible options, it did not help. Honor 20 Lite has very aggressive memory manager, which kills the joys of multi tasking.
