Wanting to Root - LG K20 Plus Questions & Answers

I want to root my MetroPCS LG K20 Plus. I was just wondering if I could unroot and lock the bootloader if I need to.

Yes there are instructions for doing both in these threads. Just takes a little digging.

why no root thread for LG H990 single sim

can anyone start a thread for getting this to the attention of devs for the future possibility of rooting our LG H990 single sim international version
I also have H990TR and really curious if we will have any root for my variant.
Yep me to h990 international.
No root....
Thump up for taking glove's off and root it...
Is anyone working on it already?
Is there still no root for the H990?
I believe the only way that we actually can achieve root on this phone is through the DS guide. And the Debug bootloader causes issues on the H990? I think atleast. So if its not listed, it most likely has issues with the current methods.
I feel sad how I have such an awesome phone that cannot unlock its full potential

Question about root timeframe

So now the v30 is announced now and will soon be available to purchase my question is in regards to LG root time frame on new devices. I know each device can have it's own time before root can be achieved, Based on the V10 and V20 root method how long generally does it usually take to find out if root is even possible?
1) in past experience between V10 and V20 how long was it generally from release date to root method? few weeks, months?
2) has G6 been rooted at all? gives kinda an indication if root would be possible in V30
Thanks for the help, again, not asking a ETA or anything like that, just want to know on past experiences with the V10 & V20 how long it took before root was possible and if root is even possible or not.
If you get a V30, you might want to get the carrier free model straight from LG. No carrier branded LG G6 has been rooted yet, and since even T-Mobile no longer allows the bootloader to be unlocked, even if a kernel exploit is found (like dirtycow), you will also need someone to leak a engineering bootloader like they did for the V20. If someone wouldn't have come up with the eng. aboot, the only two V20s that would have root are the H918 and US996.
Have a look-e-see yourself: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development
The only model that has root is the US997 carrier free version that LG allows for the bootloader to be unlocked.

Get used to the idea root aint happening. If it does, its a bonus. You are looking at it wrong.
Or, get an HTC.

Unlock Bootloader

Why in God's name are the bootloadera locked on The US variant of the S7 edge? Can anyone figure this out? Is there a way to port over Twrp im so sick of this phone and let the crap to root it.
There;s no way to unlock the bootloader and you cant install twrp on the snapdragon variants (except for the chinese variant.)
Blame the carriers.
But you can use FlashFire to flash stuff on your device with the current root method.
Current root method is using a engineering bootloader so the performace and battery is terrible.
We cant have nice things bro srry

Still waiting for a Root (LG K425) K10

A couple people in this thread for the LG K10 said they are getting closer for this model, any update on this model, would love to root it.
Ur bootloader is unlocked ?
Me too; I really don't care about the bootloader being unlocked but at least if I could have factory firmware without all the ATT bull**** installed, that would be great. What would be insanely good is if someone could figure out how to get the TMobile firmware on this guy so I can use LTE-Voice and WiFi calling.

Root/Xposed on brand new p10 plus

I have finally decided to go with the P10 plus after debating wether to go with this or g6, ill be buying it unlocked, new in the UK.
What would be the procedure to root the phone? I didn't find a guide on the forum, maybe I missed it?
My end goal is to have magdisk root + xposed, doesn't matter if its 7.0 or 8.0
Is this possible on this phone? Thanks
