Any way to disable the Quick Cover case setting? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I have a very strong magnetic phone mount in my truck. It's tricking my phone into thinking that it has a quick cover case on it. The screen randomly goes black and shows the enlarged version of the time and stuff you see on the lock screen.
Anyone know if there's a setting to disable this? Or maybe something to freeze in Titanium Backup?

I'm also trying to solve the same problem. I hope there is some app or software that could expose the setting for whether to ignore the magnetic sensor that is used to trigger/detect the cover case.
I believe that LG says the magnet sensor is *NOT* something you are supposed to be able to disable. But, they said the same thing about knock-on/knock-off, yet we found out we could find the hidden setting to disable that. If it worked for knock-on/knock-off, then I hold out hope that there is a similar approach to solve this problem with the magnet sensor.
I recall long ago there was software called QuickShortcutMaker that could be used for the knock-on/knock-off and many other settings, have you tried that?

Does any smart person know if there a way to stop the aspect change when the keyboard is pulled out? (Basically so the operating system stays portrait instead of changing to landscape)

If I understand correctly you mean when taking the device out of the carrying case. The orientation can change when taking it out of the case due to the magnetic catches in the case operating the keyboard magnet operated switch.
If this is the problem then I suggest using a case with no magnets. (a better solution than disconnecting the switch). This however is not the same as not wanting landscape mode when the keyboard is out as the OP wants.

I remember getting very annoyed with the phone changing orientation when in it's magnetic case when I first got it. I searched and searched for days to find a setting or tweak to fix it. Eventually, I mentioned to my wife that I need to buy a new case.
She said "why don't you put it into the case the other way round?".
I put it in with the screen facing the belt rather than the magnets, and it's worked fine ever since that way round! Felt such an ass!
Sometimes I don't see the wood for the trees me...
I know it's the magnet doing it
I've tried the following:
1. Buy a new case with only one magnet clip (a magnet clip is more comfortable then scotch or any other solution).
2. Reverse the screen to the back.
None works, I think it's the way I pull it out...
Anyway, the only solution doesn't exist, I can't find a normal belt side case.
So my last resort is to find a way to stop the rotation, I always miss calls cuz the rotation during a call slows the device and I can't answer...
I tried to use that registry hack, I followed the instructions and I do not have the rotate icon..even after two resets. Is there any other way to force your screen a certain way?

[Q] Proximity sensor funkiness?

This has been happening pre and post Nodo on my focus. If i'm on a phone call for at least a few minutes, then pull the phone away from my head, the phone's display should become active, but it isn't.
Anyone else having this issue or is it time to exchange the phone?
I have the same issue also it seems like I have to press the power button a couple of times to get it back.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I'm also having this issue. Anyone remember if ther were having it pre-Nodo? Just wondering if the update changed something.
Regardless, it's a bit of a PITA.
I experienced this after having to replace a cracked screen. I just recalibrated the proximity sensor with my finger about an inch away and it worked fine.

How did you do that?
Yeah, ditto that - how do recalibrate the sensor?
Samsung Diagnostic App.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839154
I was pecking around the screens months ago, and there was one bank of tests (multi-touch, red, green, blue, white, battery, etc, etc) that allowed setting and viewing the proximity sensor.
I remember playing with moving my hand closer, and further and watching it change from sensed to clear.
Sorry, can't remember which codes now.
I used the Wiki:

LCD Test - *#0*#
Ok, mine says No Detection. Is there anyway to set the value?
One other thing to note, about the samsung focus specific update regarding disabling the touch sensitive buttons while in a program, that also isn't working for me either. Not sure if they are related, but thought I'd throw it out there.
And as far as calibrating goes, not sure it would help since the problem only occurs while I'm on a longer phone call. On short ones the proximity sensor works just fine.
If you move your finger closer to the sensor, it should eventually change to Detected. The "set" button at the bottom should set the proximity sensor to the new distance. Mine is around 75.

Mine says No Dectection. It has Prox Sensor: XXX I've taken my entire hand and covered my phone. NOTHING. When I push SET, It says ProxThreshold :0. Is there anyway to set it manually?
samsung focus post nodo
I believe the prox sensor issue is happening post nodo, I have never had this problem prior to the update... I have been able to fix it temporarily by pulling the battery and starting it up... don't know how long the fix works... got to do some testing... I am wondering if its a power thing as the screen wouldnt work when you plugged it in to power and had on a soft surface....
Still nothing. I didn't want to hard reset since I have Chevron installed. For some reason I did four updates on my phone and don't have a single backup. If I hard reset I'm S.O.L. with Twin Blades and other homebrew apps
What value does it show when you press the Reg button?
I've had issues with my earring tapping the screen while I talk and I had it fixed before NoDo, but the values reset when it was installed, they also appear to be different values now as my screen got supper finicky after the update. I was constantly hanging up or scrolling through multiple pages of stuff with my ear and you could see the screen turning on and off. I ran the proximity calibration while holding my hand in front and set to it to 1.
If it shows xx have you tried setting the value with nothing in front of the phone to see if it will at least zero out?

It has a big red box. It says No Detection. Prox Sensor:XXX Do I press Set or Reg?
another thing is wrong
seems like my light sensor is fried as well... I am starting to wonder if it's because of bad placement of the usb port... both lay right in front of the port, can't imagine pluging in and unpluging the phone would help if the sensors are right in front. I can't get either sensors to work anymore, even with a battery pull... does anyone else have this issue? goto the diagnosis menu and type
*#05#
you should be able to run through all the tests, I skip the feedback loop... Start at 1 and work your way through.
My Prox sensor says, no sensor XXX, and my light sensor is stuck with a value and will not change even when I cover the sensor... looks like a warranty replacement... how does this work with a sd card installed, the official WP7 ATT certified 8GB? Anyone else have to do this?

same problem here. seems like those two sensors are burned

Please tell me if your phone has this???

Hi guys,
I am having screen protector drama: I am trying to remove a non silicon screen protector (and I know its on there. good at that!) but I can't remove it.
I've tried scotch tape, duct tape, mach 3 razer blades...trying to lift up that corner.
I have to remove this thing because it is what I am suspecting is messing with my Proximity Sensor, and causing the screen to blank when making calls. Also, Z-DeviceTest reports my Proximity is 0.00000 cm , when the screen is just on normally.
*i might try the hex edit trick to turn off the sensor after this, if I fail. Although that would suck kind of, because then my head will press buttons during calls..AND, hex editing the appropriate file with androids hex edit, didn't help me find the string, the last time i tried.
That being said, I'm using a pin and a flash light, and want to know if i am pulling at something inherent to the phone or not.
On your Nexus one, is there a black rubbery ring around the screen, between the edge of the screen and the grey. Is it like 1mm thick? (everytime I pin and pull up, i tear this string like rubber grommet, and i'm wondering if its the screen protector excess that oversits the screen, or something the nexus one has around its blank screen?
Please help.
ThankS!
I do see a thin black ring between the screen and the metal.
If you're really sure there's a screen protector on there, maybe try a tiny dot of superglue on some tape to increase the sticking power?
Aww, thank you sir.
I guess I've been tearing up my phone then.
I will try the super glue, but what should I stick onto it? <string?>
ive never had a screen protector that stuck on are you sure there is even one on there? those things peel right off
Hrmmm....
Well its a Clarivue... these things look like glass.....
Well, I used the solution described here, with the hex editing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=985223
Altering sensors.mahimahi.so solved the phone screen going blank issue, but auto rotate stopped working.
Replaced the file with original, rebooted, and for some reason, still couldnt auto rotate.
Now doing a Nandroid restore. Hoping it auto rotates again.
This screen off issue during call seems like a GB issue. Restoring an earlier CM7 backup, and hoping to find an alternate dialing app...
Found a fix. somewhat
(The nandroid backup restored auto rotation incidentally)
You go into the dialer, and change preferences to disable Haptic feedback.
The screen still may go blank on dialing, but easily awakes now by either pressing the power button or trackball. No one button seems to do it consistently, but its one of those two consistently now.
Thanks for your help guys. Minor pin damage
Still no fix for the Proxmity Sensor GB/CM7 bug.
Any suggestions? I tried Screen Suite as recommended in another thread. No go.

turning screen on/off when opening/closing case

It says in the manual that there is a "Hall sensor" hidden somewhere on the screen which allows the screen to be turned on/off when the case is opened/closed. I have a Noreve case which doesn't seem to have this functionality. Does anyone know what the Huawei case has inside it to make this happen, and where exactly it is? Is it a magnet or something else? I've tried moving a magnet everywhere on the screen but I wasn't able to trigger anything.
If possible, I'd like to modify my Noreve case to support his, but I have no idea how the original Huawei case does it.
Also, is there a setting which needs to be enabled for this to work? I have "smart cover" enabled, but I also tried my magnet attempts with it disabled.
From the manual:
"When you use the protective flip cover designed for the M3, the Hall sensor enables your screen to turn on automatically when you open the cover and to turn off when you close it."
"M3 has many useful features which can be used easily. As you open the M3 protective flip cover, the screen turns on. As you close it, the screen turns off."

Make sure Smart Cover is turned on in Smart Assistance settings.
I found it, just a bit up and left from the fingerprint sensor. Not all magnets work, and the pole matters, it only works in one orientation. I also had to put a metal plate on the other side of the magnet so it wouldn't lock it when the case is flipped open and against the back of the tablet.
This is now a perfect replacement for my broken galaxy Tab S!
I have the official Huawei case and I think there are two sensors as on the case there is a plate / magnet (visible under case) to the left and up a bit from the finger print sensor and a second one half way on the right hand edge. I'll try to post a photo tomorrow which will make a much better job than my description

Any technique to disable the magnetic sensor for flip cover/circle cover?

Has anyone dug into the hidden settings for the phone, to find a way to adjust a setting to allow the phone to ignore the magnet sensor (which defaults always on and is used to detect whether you are using a flip cover)?
LG intends that the magnet sensor setting be inaccessible so that you can never disable the magnet sensor. But LG said the same thing about the knock-on/knock-off setting, which lo and behold really can be exposed using something like the app called "QuickShortcutMaker" to disable that supposedly inaccessible setting.
So, is someone aware of a tool or other similar approach to adjust a "hidden" setting for the magnet sensor? At least, I assume the hidden setting exists somehow by analogizing to the knock sensor, I don't know for sure that the magnet sensor is similar, but it would make logical sense...
