XZP Cross firmware flash G8142 to G8141 - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi all,
Thought I'd share my little experience with my XZP. Recently purchased a XZP Dual Sim G8142 that had a generic asian region firmware.
Being that I live in Australia, I wanted VoLTE and Wifi calling enabled. Soo I set out to learn as much as I could to see if there was any possibility in flashing a G8142 into a G8141 AU Firmware. To my surprise, there wasn't much info.
Soo I decided to take a leap of faith anyways. Using Xperifirm I got the Custom AU Firmware for the G8141 and using Newflasher I can report back that I have successfully Converted my G8142 (Dual Sim) to a G8141 (Single Sim).
I have been testing all sensors which are operating as per normal. I now have VoLTE and WiFi calling enabled. I haven't any bugs or glitches yet, besides Xperia Companion not being able to do a Software repair, as it still comes up with an error of: "UEGetPhoneInfoMissingInfo G8142 3570 1308-6997 R3B"
I didn't flash any of the .ta files that came with the AU Firmware cause I didn't wanna loose any DRM keys.
But just for others to know, It works.

Hello, my phone is single SiM G8141 Europe. The Rom China M-Rom works perfectly on my phone, but it is annoying that sim1 appears in all sections.
Could you please, share the way you activate VolTE?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late reply.
I follow the guide of using Newflasher on the forms and used xperifirm to download my countries firmware, in my case, AU generic as I'm from Australia.
Dude it in few steps and the phones been working per normal since. I have VolTE and wifi calling enabled by default in the firmware.
best of luck!

Branded oem info

Hi
I successfully updated and debranded my branded (by 3 Austria) single SIM phone to c432 dual SIM.
Now my question is, is there somewhere in the net a list with all possible oeminfos, including the branded ones?
I am just curious and also would like to have the oeminfo of 3 Austria, to flash back, in case I need to repair it. (Warrenty.)
And no, I didn't save the old oeminfo. Next time I know better. ?
Seth
At the moment im just know the debranded oeminfo but some one could be on that branded and can backup and shared with us

[PSA] [Locked BL] You can enable Fingerprint Scanner on the US X Performance

I just received an Xperia X Performance bought from B&H Photo. I knew beforehand that the fingerprint sensor is disabled on the US version of the phone because of reasons, but I read on the Z5 forums that it can be enabled by flashing a firmware from another region.
So... I went on and tried with the Customized NL firmware and voila. It just works. I used FlashTool and XperiFirm to get the firmware. Easy peasy, it's not even necessary to unlock the bootloader.

XZP VoLTE firmware

Hi Guys,
I'm almost happy user of XPZ. I bought non-branded version G1842 dual. I want to use VoLTE(and WiFiCalling if possible) on my handset. My operator Orange PL supporting VoLTE but only on Iphones and branded firmwares for Android phones.
Sony support/service refuse to flash my phone with Orange firmware - so I would need to do this alone but official Orange firmware is available only for single sim XPZ G8141.
Question - can I seftly flash G8142 with G8141 firmware? Or do you know that maybe VoLTE operator configuration is kept in one of sin files like modem_X-FLASH-ALL-42E5.sin and I could just swap one file in whole firmware folder?
Secondly VoLTE - I send email to operator and they replay that configuration of VoLTE is many settings/parameters inside firmware. Besides *#*#4636#*#* option VoLTE provisioning I didn't see any configuration for this service. The config is so deeply inside firmware? When I switch ON this option in that menu it's not saved and when I enter once again the menu is one again switched off.
What I saw most of the VoLTE arround globe have problem - that they need to use branded firmware. Do you think in the future it would change? As far as I check for Iphone it works on all - it's relevant it's branded or non-branded phone.
best regards,
Piotr
I'm in Sweden and VoLTE got enabled for me when I switched carrier. I didn't do anything but switch SIM. I had a Z5 Premium at the time and now I'm on a XZ Premium and VoLTE is enabled as default.
And standard Nordic Combined firmware, no carrier lock.
Piotr, i think with DS version of device you are out of luck. There is no european provider specific modem configuration(required for volte) available for the dual sim device. I have attached available configurations in the zip file.
To get single sim modem configuration files flashed to device, you need to flash system.sin, but i STRONGLY DO NOT recommend doing that. Potential brick on your way.
Mixing flashing the single sim and dual sim different .sin files is highly experimental.
If you really want VoLTE then i think less headache is if you can find a person who is willing to switch single sim version with you.
You can get any region G8141 and then flash https://xpericheck.com/cda/1308-7002
Phone needs load configuration amss_fsg_maple_orange_poland_volte_vowifi_tar.mbn to get VoLTE and VoWIFI.
Checking current oem.sin file, i can see that when inserting Orange PL sim, then amss_fsg_maple_orange_poland_ims_tar.mbn is actually loaded.
Is the XZ Premium on confirmed VoLTE devices list on Orange Poland webpage?
Hello, any news in this thread? I have the same situation but with XZ1. I have nonbranding dual sim working on T-Mobile PL. They sell XZ1 only single sim, so there is only single SIM firmware from T-Mobile. Someone test flashing single SIM firmware for dual SIM XZ/XZ1 Xperia?
Should be same situation as with xz premium. flash single sim fw via newflasher and you are done. will lose 2nd sim but otherwise should be good.
Please Read different topics to know how other users have done it to xz premium dual sim.

Are dual sim variants of xz1 and xzp installed with the required 4x4mimo hardware antennas?
Just flashed XZ1 DUAL with XZ1 SINGLE firmware. Everything work at this time fine and VoLTE and VoWIFI are working from the start!

Phone now reports as g8341 (singles sim) to the mobile carrier?
What does now show in the model number of your device menu?

Why dual sim are sold cheaper then singlesim? Which country?
I bought XZP in presale and price for non-brand and brand at telcos was the same. For me I was thinking it's benefit because I get dual sim and "clean" FW.
I suppose that Sony (and also Samsung) don't care about this....I hope that carrier services app in android recently added by Google would be the way to update settings for operators for all headsets. Like apple does. That would solve that configuration....
Only when small file missing and and lot of issues with VoLTE and VoWiFi.

Maybe single and dual sim are exactly the same HW? and when you load DS FW into SS version you will get DS? anyway 2sim share slot with SD ...maybe Sony simply manufacturing process?

To confirm files like amss_fsg_maple_orange_poland_volte_vowifi_tar.mbn are kept in which file? oem_X-FLASH-ALL-42E5.sin or modem_X-FLASH-ALL-42E5.sin ?
This file are modem configuration so it should be more in modem.sin but you mention that you check oem.sin for that maple config?
Is 100% configuration of VoLTE are kept in amss_fsg_maple_orange_poland_volte_vowifi_tar.mbn ?
In 20 minutes I would also try to flash XZP like rav.6 with XZ1 to check that solution. And let all know.
br,
Piotr
oem.sin only includes instructions which configuration(.mbn) to load.
all configuration are universally available in system.sin

I can confirm. Solution by rav.6 is working also on XZP with Orange firmware Poland.
I see now options for VoLTE and VoWiFi and VoLTE are enable but not working
I don't know why

Generic modem/radio needed files, which are needed for the modem to work. Identical in every region firmware.

Xperia XZP cross firmware to convert single SIM G8141 to dual SIM G8142

Hi all, I was wonder if it's possible to "convert" a single sim G8141 Xperia XZ premium onto a XZ Premium G8142 (dual sim) by flashing it with a G8142 stock rom, mi cellphone is Telcel from Mexico, and it's annoying to have one device for personal and another one for the job, so I wonder if this "conversion" could be possible (I think that the hardware is the same between single and dual versions, but not sure at all), I've been searching on forums and internet but I only found information regarding convert dual sim onto single sim (vice-versa process as I want to do -and it worked btw-)... so far I already have the correct hybrid sim tray for micro SD/sim card that came with dual version, but I don't want to flash and get a $800 brick, other thing that I realize with other models doing this process (for example Samsung single to dual sim conversion) was about that a second IMEI for sim 2 slot has to be generated to make it work (I didn't understand that so well because I didn't research deeply on this), I don't know if I'll need to do that too with the XZP, but if is necessary I would like to know that too...
Any information or explanation would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Hello friend,
No single sim phone can be converted to dual sim, the motherboard are direffence in both models.
The dual sim requires a reading system of two sim, a system of dual frequency operation, even if you install a dual rom Mrom for ex.
You will never have the benefits/problems of a dual sim.
Cheers!

OK thank you very much for the response, no option but get a dual sim. ?*
there's no option to configure an e-sim as sim 2? maybe through an app?
just flash the g8142 ce1 to the g8141, i have us xz premium with hybrid tray, tested working with 2 tmobile sims
so flash 47.1.A.16.20 CE1 from G8142

So you're saying you got the tray from a G8142, put both SIMs in, then put it into your G8141 with G8142 firmware flashed and it works?
Negative, the tray was there when I purchased the phone, I had a micro SD but then I figured 64gb was enough so I wanted to try the dual SIM, I tried it first, it was not working so I looked to get the fingerprint reader working, found out that it was from a dual SIM model, so I tried it after flashing CE1 and it appears to work perfectly,.. so I'm just waiting for pie
Hi all,
Is it really working ir is it a big joke?
if someone tried thanks for sharing the results.
I will to try if someone success whit their tutorials
A nano sim can't fit in the sd card tray on my device it is not width enough, I saw pictures on amazon and the 8142 is quite different. So I think it doesn't work.
This is a different for sim tray for G8141 and G8142
maybe in next week I will try to flash G8142 fw to my G8141 single. At forum else, their someone can successfully.
Stay tune yeah
In 4pda forum I've found at least 2 people who successfully converted their devices to dual sim.
I've ordered combined micro sd and sim tray for g8142.
I will report as soon as I will try this out.
It's possible to make tray wider if you have hands growing from the right place + tools.
Here is the comparison picture for those who can't wait to order new tray.
Upd: I used a paper knife to make my micro sd holder wider to fit a sim.
Installed a g8142 rom and that's it. It's actually working.
So there is no such thing as single sim version
Hi Doom Slayer,
Which ROM do you use. I used the Havoc OS ROM for G8142 on my G8141 and the second SIM-card dosn't work.
thanks.

first you need to flash dualsim stock fw with flashtool/newfasher with all wipes, since custom roms rarely contain all the necessary little pieces of software like modem and etc.

Z5 E6683 VoWiFI/Flashing Questions

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my wife's E6683 phone to work with WiFi calling on EE in the UK. The phone was bought third-party and has generic (non-EE) firmware on it.
I *think* i need to download and flash the EE firmware onto the phone for this to work, since there are no options for WiFi calling present on the current (vanilla) firmware.
So I have the following questions:
1. Do I need to flash EE firmware onto it, or is there another way?
2. Can I flash the EE firmware onto it *without* wiping the phone?
3. The only UK EE firmware available is for the single-sim E6653 variant. Various posts suggest this is ok to flash single-sim firmware onto the Dual SIM equivalent, but can anyone confirm? (I don't care if the Dual SIM aspect of the phone stops working)
4. Is it a risky process? I'm semi-familiar with ADB and I've flashed phones before, but I'm no expert. I found a guide on hardreset.info, but are there any better or more specific ones?
Many thanks for any help!
Loz
