Anyway to revert from Oreo bootloader locked screen to Nougat style one? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Short of reverting to Nougat that is -- Is there a way to get rid of the new-style bootloader-locked screen that's the first thing you see on start-boot? I'd like to replace it with the Nougat style that allows you to hit a key and go right past it. I thought I'd seen a thread on how to do that here but if anyone knows, much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Oh yes -- It's a oneplus 5 and basically running that latest ob18 + NoLimits.

This is easy. Download and flash the Old Bootloader Unlocked Warning zip from this post of mine, and profit!

You can just dirty flash OOS and it'll get updated again, since the OOS zip also contains the firmware (of which the bootloader is a part).

If that's the case, then you can save the attached zip which has the new bootloader from OB18, in case you want to revert.

Edit: So we actually tried this but Mofo didn't like the unrooted Lollipop image. We were able to upgrade and downgrade the things FirstEncounter was able to. Perhaps JulesJam's image would work.
After reflashing ComputerFreek's image my phone is 100% back to normal.
Someone is always willing lol, but in this case I sold my immediate backup phone so I'll be waiting. Thank you very much Matt for jumping in.

I've been able to upgrade and downgrade boot, recovery, fsg, and modem. I haven't tested radio, but 5.1 works fine with the existing radio so far.
I'm currently uploading my modem.img that was patched with the OTA files (since it didn't come in the 5.1 image), along with the rest of the files needed to upgrade to 5.1.
EDIT: Images + instructions posted in this thread.

It's a shame I jumped ship and took the OTA early. Looks like I may be needing a warranty replacement soon.

This is the unrooted ext4 image I made from the sparsechunks. If FirstEncounter's rooted image works then there is no need for me to root this one. I am not sure mine is the right size or not.

In order to use the stock update utility, you must first flash the stock recovery back in place. Since you are unlocked and have flashed TWRP, it's pretty easy to do.... Then reflash TWRP recovery back in place when done.

This firmware is OLD as dirt... it is the original Marshmallow release (the date is wrong, it's been noted in the official forums) and will fail to flash on any device that has taken even a single Marshmallow OTA past the original one.

THANK YOU, FOR THIS HEADS UP AND CORRECTING MY ERROR!
I had no idea that this could screw someone up. My apologies, for posting this!
It recently worked to bring mine back to stock, but it had been on TruPureXMM, since last December and I had not taken any updates.

What's the latest update we can use and not lose root?

I'm not well versed in this realm of rooting, but I've rooted my V20 (H918) and I'd like to update to the latest version possible and not lose root. I think it involves using some kdz file or something and flashing that, is that right? Let me know, thank you.
Wrong, you have to use this @runningnak3d tutorial to go back to root...but so far, even if you are on H91010T, you can roll back and root. ARB has not yet been implemented on this phone, so you're good to use any rooting method you see fit in this forum. Enjoy!

I don't know what version of H918 you're on now, but if I'm not mistaken 10k is the last one that you can still mess up and still get root back by downgrading to an earlier version, root and then upgrade. any version after 10k will increment ARB to 1 whereby you will not be able to get root if you lose it. that said, the latest version out now is 10s and if you have root then you should also have TWRP. here's my guide for updating to the latest versions while keep root https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/rom-h91810q-stock-rom-twrp-flashable-zip-t3681312. looking at this now, I haven't posted the 10s update file, which I will do now... keep in mind that if you update to 10s that if you lose TWRP you'll be fscked and stuck without root, which at this point could be permanently.
EDIT: 10s is a go! original post updated with link. also removing the older versions from Google Drive to free up space... if they're still needed, PM

Hey, I followed the instructions per your thread and successfully installed 10s and kept root! The bad news is that I did a factory reset immediately after and now it keeps bootlooping into TWRP. Any idea how to fix this? Sadly I didn't make a backup because my microsd card was too small and I didn't have the patience to wait til tomorrow and go out and buy one, really hope I didn't kick myself in the ass and brick my phone. :crying:
Edit:
I was able to find a fix by following these instructions:
"I had this happen to me after installing TWRP for the first time. It would keep rebooting to TWRP. This was after making sure I flashed SuperSU as well. Eventually in a moment of "might as well see what will happen" I rebooted then held down the power button and volume down. Got to the option if I wanted to factory reset my phone which I did which booted into TWRP. Rebooted to system from there which got me out of the TWRP Bootloop."
I also set my phone up again and can confirm that 10s is still good with root! Thanks for the guide and work, man. Much appreciated!

Hello, but sorry it isn't the common warning. Since the begining i have unlock my bootloader (september or october)i have this warning. And not the first i have post. It's not the same.
Again this is a quite common warning on the one plus 5. Have you recently flashes a new ROM?
Have you updated widevile L1 in a service center? If so, that's the reason of the new warning message, nothing to worry about..
That warning is when you flashed Open Beta 10. There is an file (abl.elf) in the firmware that replaces the old warning screen to new warning screen. Nothing more, nothing less. So no worry though...

That's the new bootloader from beta 10. Everyone who has that installed with an unlocked bootloader will have it that way. And simply reverting to previous builds won't change it. But that's just a cosmetic change so don't worry about it.

That's correct. Reverting to the previous Oreo builds won't change it because the new file in the firmware is only present in OB10, and not the older Oreo builds, so it won't be overwritten even if an older Oreo build is flashed.
However, the Nougat builds of OOS had this file present in their firmware, so flashing the firmware of any of the Nougat OOS builds will get the old warning back, theoretically.
Can i delete this file? Because i will switch to recovery or fastboot over this screen.
Thanks Paper
