A Little Testing - FrankenPop - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

IF YOU UPGRADED TO 5.1 ALREADY THIS IS NOT FOR YOU

If Lollipop can run without Lollipop bootloader/partition table then you can have rooted Lollipop and keep ability to downgrade.
Remember I am NOT to be held responsible for what you do to your phone.
Kitkat Firmware aka FixEmUp (For fixing up / or going back to Kitkat from this FrankenPop.)

Second?
Edit: So we actually tried this but Mofo didn't like the unrooted Lollipop image. We were able to upgrade and downgrade the things FirstEncounter was able to. Perhaps JulesJam's image would work.
After reflashing ComputerFreek's image my phone is 100% back to normal.

Someone is always willing lol, but in this case I sold my immediate backup phone so I'll be waiting. Thank you very much Matt for jumping in.

waiting to see if thermonuclear war breaks out or these two just get rooted lollipop. lol

I've been able to upgrade and downgrade boot, recovery, fsg, and modem. I haven't tested radio, but 5.1 works fine with the existing radio so far.
I'm currently uploading my modem.img that was patched with the OTA files (since it didn't come in the 5.1 image), along with the rest of the files needed to upgrade to 5.1.
EDIT: Images + instructions posted in this thread.

I tried with both stock and a rooted one, works great so far.

It's a shame I jumped ship and took the OTA early. Looks like I may be needing a warranty replacement soon.

This is the unrooted ext4 image I made from the sparsechunks. If FirstEncounter's rooted image works then there is no need for me to root this one. I am not sure mine is the right size or not.

From the posts on this thread, it doesn't look like firstencounter posted a rooted image. I'm flashing now. Could someone give me a link to a rooted image to test?

Yes these are the recovery files pulled from the otas some one said they needed them so i posted them.
Calling them "recovery" files is going to confuse a lot of people. Can you change it simply to OTA zips? That'll avoid confusion. And let people know that the filename represents the version they're ON now (the version the file applies TO) rather than what it's updating TO.

Ohhhh, then that's my confusion then. My apologies. I thought those were the full OTA update. Yea, that should just say [RECOVERY] then instead of OTA. Sincerest apologies.

I see Sam and I were thinking the same thing. That's why I asked the question I did because normally, those filenames are what was used for the OTAs and those are not recoveries, as Sam stated.
Thanks for posting these and updating the description.
Thank you for uploading these files. After I bricked my 926 before reading the forums I foolishly tried to restore back to 4.1.2. So I want to install this recovery from ap fastboot. I tried to use matts utility and copied your file to matts folder then renamed the recovery image, but that did not work. Any ideals?

Okay, oh well. The phones ear speaker went out from medal shavings and welding splatter melted some of the screen so I "lost it" and used Asurian insurance to replace it anyway, but the replacement is horribly slow. Like using a computer from 1999! A while back I accidentally dropped my unlocked xt926 and had Asurian replace it and the same thing. The replacement was so slow that I sent it back and was willing to pay Motorola $160 to fix my cracked screen. They kept that unlocked phone and sent me a brand new xt926 which is now the one with the broken ear speaker and bricked to boot! I'm over the razr....Moto X here I come! Thanks all

[ROM][GPe] Android 5.0.1 Update - Lollipop (OTA from Google)

My GPe m7 just got the update notification. I pulled the file from /cache, and here it is.
The SHA1 checksum is in the filename, bad1c593ad07005d8e82754c36caa7e7db9b6cc2. This is not a test release or a beta, so as far as I can tell, I'm the first uploader! My phone is the international m7, running 4.4.4.
NOTE: this is an OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1. It requires the stock recovery from 4.4.4, and so will cannot be installed by people that rooted or manually converted their phone to the Google Play edition. (This means me, in fact. I can't install this! But I'm uploading it in the hopes that a developer can apply the patches manually and make a flashable ROM.) This includes firmware, so installing as a Nandroid backup may or may not work.
EDIT: people in this thread have already uploaded the file and are trying to install it. I suggest browsing there, because here in this thread we haven't figured it out yet!

Link has been changed to androidfilehost, so you can try again. And unfortunately, the installer requires the stock GPe recovery, version 4.4.4. Does anyone know where to find that? I found 4.4.2's recovery by searching the internet, but that doesn't help.

Depends on what you mean. You say 3rd gen, I assume you are talking Apollo, correct? If so, you may be able to roll back to 3.2.8 & from there upgrade to 4.5.2, which can be rooted.

You need to be on 4.5.2 (or lower) to rollback. If your device is at 4.5.3 (or higher) you're stuck with Fire OS and no root. To roll back start here. READ, READ and READ some more. You won't find many tutorials. Don't expect to pull off rollback/upgrade/root/gapps in an evening. HDX is a tough bird; easy to brick with limited recovery options. Do you homework before flashing anything.
Good luck.
Oh never mind. I got them to rollback now rooted with twrp now to try some custom roms

Great! If you post again please include current fw level, etc. Those who responded (including me) assumed you had a newer device and based responses accordingly. Trying to get my head around "got them to rollback" and "now rooted with twrp". Rollbacks usually don't conclude with twrp unless you start at 3.2.6 or below.
Well it was the 3rd generation Apollo with 4.5.3 on it. Contacted customer service told them it had all sorts of issues he went ahead pushed back a roll back to 3.2.8. Then I went ahead and rooted it using the KFHDX toolkit. Originally safestrap wouldn't boot into recovery until I updated it to safestrap-Apollo 3.75-0s3.2.4-b02. Now have twrp was able to flash thro-gapps-installer1.zip. also disabled OT updated.
Current version 14.3.2.8_user328003120

Thanks. Some important tid-bits in your post:
- Amazon rolled back an Apollo (!) which they have been reluctant to do of late. No one has been able to capture the 3.2.8 OTA image which would be a tremendous help to users who are marooned at 4.5.x. While it may be too late can you fire off a PM to @ONYXis as he has a method for capturing the image file? Thanks in advance!
- You referenced 3.2.8 and twrp. Do you mean Safestrap which is derived from twrp? If you indeed have twrp installed with 3.2.8 then you have accomplished something that no one else has!

In order to use the stock update utility, you must first flash the stock recovery back in place. Since you are unlocked and have flashed TWRP, it's pretty easy to do.... Then reflash TWRP recovery back in place when done.

Anyway to revert from Oreo bootloader locked screen to Nougat style one?

Short of reverting to Nougat that is -- Is there a way to get rid of the new-style bootloader-locked screen that's the first thing you see on start-boot? I'd like to replace it with the Nougat style that allows you to hit a key and go right past it. I thought I'd seen a thread on how to do that here but if anyone knows, much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Oh yes -- It's a oneplus 5 and basically running that latest ob18 + NoLimits.

You can just dirty flash OOS and it'll get updated again, since the OOS zip also contains the firmware (of which the bootloader is a part).

If that's the case, then you can save the attached zip which has the new bootloader from OB18, in case you want to revert.
