Niceee!

Great news

I'm using Redmi Note 5 overclocked @ 2.15GHz but UV, still getting good battery life. If Max 3 has good kernel, overclockable, I will switch to Max 3 6GB/128GB soon.

I used Hardrock Kernel OCed to 2.8GHz for Max 2 and it's doing very well. I believe SD636 should do even better but not sure how does it compared against an OCed SD625.
Anybody tested the differences?

636 defaul performance far faster/bettet than 625. Oced 625 just help you more performance but it's really hard for A53 can reach A73 level!
I used Max 2 before switched to RMN5. RMN5 has much better performance, smoothness and responsiveness

I hope to see some roms now

AOSP roms will ever reach (or overreach) stock roms battery life?

...or it is impossible without Samsung support?
They already do. 4.3 does a great job.

I am not sure. I flashed the latest Resurrection Remix ROM and the battery life was a lot worse than TW.
My batterylife is better with AOSP than with TW. For 4.3 I recommend slimbean and included kernel, thor kernel gives crazy good batterylife too on 4.2.2/4.3 roms but thor is banned here.

For me Samsung roms are far more effective.
On CM based roms, i get max 2/3 days with my usage, while on Samsung roms i can get 6 days (once got 7 days of juice )

Thor Kernel gives better battery life than stock SlimBean?
My experience with PA 3.65 based on AOSP was mediocre in terms of battery life. I certainly love it much, much more than TW but I certainly couldn't justify keeping that ROM since it was pretty average with respect to battery. It wasn't like ridiculously bad but certainly 25-30% lesser than what stock TW usually gives me and hence I had to sadly move back to a TW based custom ROM. I am hopeful that eventually AOSP will get closer to TW in terms of battery life because in every other sense I find it better.
I was too upset to see the terrible battery life on Aosp. Only thing that keeps me away from them.
Don't know why they can't match up tw in terms of battery life.

I'm on cyano official 10.2 and battery life is quite decent but far from the Samsung roms. But I love cyano, and I think that the more drain is worthy.

On CM 10.2 or PA 3.99 I use SetCPU to create 3 profiles;
1) Screen off, max CPU=400, Governor=conservative
2) On call state, Max CPU= 500, governor= the same as the ROM
3) battery< %10, Max CPU=1000, Governor= the same as the ROM
One more thing; I don't think Samsung gives the same effort on giving a smooth experience and I don't think it is about bad software. I think the software is well-coded to perform efficiently but the CPU jump is tuned to be lower and slower intentionally. So it gives some choppiness compared to CM or any AOSP ROM but it also saves some energy from the CPU (or GPU at certain times)..
Basicly speed comes with cunsumption

Thanks. I applied all your settings and i set zzmoove as default governor (seems that is more battery friendly than pegasusq).
The story that you said about sammy roms is embarassing. I had an iPhone 4 before my Note 2 and it was completely smooth with a downclocked single core 1 ghz cpu. And battery life was pretty decent. I can't believe that android need so much power.
So, we can assume that all the other smartphone with great battery life (razr maxx, droid maxx, lg g2....) have choppy ui? I think (and i hope) that is related just to the optimization. Maybe samsung is not able to optimize the Touchwiz and prefers the Jeremy-Clarckson approach of "YEAAH, MORE POWER".

No. We can't assume such thing. Mine was just an assumption only for Note2/S3 Touchwiz vs AOSP.
Besides iPhone 4 is not downclocked, it has just a very high treshold for the last step (1GHz) so it comes into play very little. I remember such thing for dual core Sammy devices (or was it One X, poor memory of mine) from a kernel developer. He/she had tuned the kernel with very high tresholds for 800MHz and 1200MHz so the device was going easily 800 MHz but waiting there until there is huge load of porccesses and then jumping to higher clocks. So that waiting time on a stable was saving some battery and heat since the higher coltages are less efficient for both the battery and heating..
One more thing; the smoothness of an iPhone is not related to its CPU, it is all about the GPU which used to be higher than any same generation Android device until recently..

Thanks for the interesting reply.
Anyway, I've tried the parameters that you said, but on cm 10.2 the phone freezes in a black screen when is locked. Seems that I solved with a simple step up from 400 to 500 mhz when display is off. Just a report for the users that are reading this

ive never been able to get good overnight idle drain stats. with TW roms i would lose 3-4% per 8 hrs but aosp i can lose about 12-15%. this is with all sync off

Why there is no Thor kernel in XDA? Or have my eyes missed it?
please visit Thors own site - Tegra owners.
if you are a lover of android then your experience cannot be complete without experiencing his 'touch' and you need to read through the threads there - his kernels just dont work without following his instructions.
Thread closed as it has already turned into a best rom/kernel thread. It appears that the question has been answered anyways.

WHO has the biggest? Antutu Score ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°

Hi All, just thought I'd create a thread showing my highest AnTuTu score with Mi Mix.
Mi Mix: 6 GB / 256 GB
ROM: Epic Global ROM 8.2.1.0 (Stable)
Notes: used HEBF Optimizer, Greenify und Xposed Bootmanager
AnTuTu Score: 157.392
I'd be interested to see what other people are managing to squeeze out of their Mi Mix on either the same Epic or different Roms?
Hi,
I am currently sitting on ~122k with the lineage rom.
Can you give a bit more of details regarding your optimisations?
Thank you and best Regards

Basic system infos:
- Epic Global ROM 8.2.1.0 (Stable)
- Rooted (SuperSu Pro v2.79-SR2 and BusyBox Pro v35)
- Xposed framework v87 (with 11 active modules)
- User Apps installed: 263
- System Apps installed: 192
Things done for the benchmark test:
- Greenify App: all apps, except SuperSu, BusyBox, AnTuTu, HEBF Optimizer, BootManager (Xposed module)
- BootManager: all apps, except BusyBox, Greenify, HEBF Optimizer, SuperSu, Kernel Adiutor
- Kernel Adiutor: CPU-Governor: Performance, CPU-Boost Intervall: 10ms
- HEBF Optimizier: Apply on boot: FSTRIM, and Performance: all, except rendering and ui tweaks
Before you start:
- turn screen off and wait some minutes. To complete (and greenify) all background processes.
- put the phone in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes. No joke! A cold processor delivers the most power.
Then start AnTuTu immediately and hope the best.
And a little more
AnTuTu Score: 159.448

If you want good speed and optimized kernal the do not use the Lineage ROM . It was a quick port and is not at all optimized for the Mi Mix hardware.
I get at least 150 000 on Antutu even after running it 10x in a row.

I'm facing also to this joke currently (I have 111000 points).
It's just curious, why an amazing phone can shows a "low" benchmark result, I didn't make any optimizations... Till now I never had lagging or others so this score just make me laugh.

Well I did figure it out now I got 160860~ Points.
In order to do that :
- Set the CPU governor to ondemand
- Clean everything from the memory
- Put the phone into the fridge.... it is really that sensitive so if the device is really cool, you will get more points.

Hey. Actually if an optimized and cooled Mix gets 160k score, you shouldn't be caring your own scores if you're able to say there is no lagging etc. If you put your phone into the fridge, you get 160k lol. What is this for? Instead put some ice cream with chocolate sauce on the cpu and enjoy watching the sundown and high scores ha! [emoji38] [emoji1] Don't get me wrong, of course i also would love to see my score on top but no point of it unless you live in Grœnland. Your device gets hot in your pocket and whilst usage and you may get -50k less score. So; 'nothing else matters' if it performs good. Have a lovely day.

It is nice to know that the mobile phone runs better in winter.
And it is nice to show a Samsung Galaxy S7 oder Google Pixel owner the highscore.

Mi Mix Kernel sources released!

So, I don't know if this was already posted, but the kernel source was just released for the Mi Mix, Note 2 and Mi 5s/5s+.
Here is the post from /r/Xiaomi: https://www.reddit.com/r/xiaomi/comments/67ucnw/_/
This could potentially mean that we could get Android Pay to work on custom ROMs. Damn, now I can't wait to get my own Mi Mix.
Hope it'll help some Dev to pull this off.
Good news. Though it doesn't compile straight out of box. *eye roll*
Great, maybe we can get band 20 now.

Any Custom Kernel Working With Miui 9(Lollipop) With 720mhz Gpu Clock.

Hi Friends Just Wanted To Know, As I Have Been Searching To No Avail. If Anybody Knows Of A Custom Kernel For Our Aging Redmi 2 Prime. That Is Working With Miui 9 And Has A GPU Clock Of 720Mhz. CPU Is Fine At 1.4 GHz. If Anybody Knows Of One Please Share Guys. And If Not, May I Please Make A Humble Request To Our Devs That Have Worked On Kernels That Amp Things Up To That Extent. Please Would You Consider Creating One That's Miui Compatible. Many Thanks In Advance

There are plenty of custom kernels for aosp oreo and yes some of the clock speeds are fake.We don't have oreo TW yet and may never get it.Also phone is nearly 3 years old now and you know the maximum optimal clock speed is no higher than 1400mhz or possibly 1500mhz.The phones hardware limits the possibility of any future kernel being better than what we have.Someone just tested twister kernel and got 41900 on antutu so that oreo kernel is the best in my opinion. You have a choice of at least 5 or 6 oreo kernels alone for aosp so there are plenty. It's just J5 2016 we have not an S9 we just have to accept it is a soc 410 and has limitations.Tons of kernels available from MM to Pie even twister works on pie.I think is a great phone but we cannot get something more kernel wise that is going to make any significance even with real clock speeds.

Getting away from oreo there are a couple of TW nougat with real clock speeds. One of them is Leviathan and if you have problems flashing that just unzip it delete the build prop and rezip and flash it.The other one is dragon kernel and as far as I can see it has real clock speeds. With dragon I put f/synch off for better performance and read ahead of 2048.F/synch off gives a gain of 2000-2500 on antutu and risk of data loss is non existant for me.I am using dragon on odyssey and listening to music at full volume for last 3 hours and not a single pause and processing is superb.Dragon will give you at least 50% better battery performance than quasar 1.6.Only problem on dragon is it crashes exkernel gpu so better to use kernel adiutor and it works great.Maybe bulgarian jesus will make an oreo kernel as well.
