[GUIDE] How to Unlock Bootloader Xiaomi Mi A2 - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Guides, News, & Discussion

Clarifications:
No matter the version of Android that our Smartphone has, the procedure is the same.
When unlocking the bootloadrer all our personal data and applications of the smartphone will be erased, I recommend making a backup of our personal files.
Requirements:
We will obviously need our Xiaomi Mi A2 and have a PC.
Steps:
1-Preparing the smartphone
Enable oem debugging and usb debugging:
Open Setting> System> About Phone> Press where it says "Buil Number" until you enable the developer options. Let's go back a step, and we will see that within the options of "System" a new one will appear, called "Developer options"; we enter it, and within the options we have to enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging".
Then we will proceed to turn off our smartphone.
Once turned off, we will press at the same time volume - and power for about 5 seconds, until our cell phone turns on (this in order to enter the fastboot mode), if everything was done correctly, the following image will appear on your screen.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
We connect the cell phone to the PC
2-Preparing the PC
Install Drivers
For me the best way to install the drivers is as follows (if you know a better way I accept suggestions)
Download the tool My Unlock
Extract the zip file into a new folder on our pc, double click to execute the file called "miflash_unlock", we will open the application, top right of it will be the "wheel" of settings , we click on it to enter; a new window is displayed, and where it says "My Usb Driver" we click on "Check"; a "Connect your device again" notice will appear, we disconnect and connect our cell phone to the PC again, and we will have the driver installed.
We can close, we do not need this app anymore
Install the adb tools on the PC
Download the installer
1. Run it (Require administrator privileges)
2. Press Y / Yes to install ADB and Fastboot or N / No to skip
3. Press Y / Yes to install ADB system-wide or N / No for current user only
4. Press Y / Yes to install Drivers or N / No to skip
5. Continue Driver installation
6. 15 seconds passed - finished!
3-Finally we will proceed to unlock the bootloader
Download the following folder "UNLOCK BOOTLOADER XIAOMI MI A2"
We enter in it, we will find a .bat file called "unlock auto" (we make sure to have our smartphone connected to the PC in fastboot mode) we double click to execute it.
Immediately on our cell phone will appear a warning on the screen about which we are going to unblock the bootloader. And pressing twice volume -, select the option "unlock the bootloader", then press the button "power" and our smartphone will restart a couple of times, all our information will be erased and we will have the bootloader unlocked.
Suggestion:
Once the bootloader is unlocked, I advise you to turn off your smartphone again and enter fastboot mode again, go back to the "UNLOCK BOOTLOADER XIAOMI MI A2" folder and double-click the .bat file called "flash unlock critical", this with the purpose, that when we want to restore our smartphone and flash the stock firmware we have no problems.
Here I leave a video on YouTube that is a visual guide to the procedure.

And its flash n worked I never tried to unlock its boot loader. Is it normal ? Any idea to check boot loader is lock or unlock ?
Regards
Sent from my LT15a using XDA
That's usually not normal But if it worked, Good For you!
Although Its not recommended as it may cause some glitches in the future, or probably the kernel wont function properly.
I'm not sure how to check if your bootloader is unlocked or not..... But you could try going to the call menu and dialing
*#*#7378423#*#*
Then Go to
service info --> configuration
here should be of Rooting Status - Check in that regarding Bootloader.
I'll search and let you know if I find something Concrete regarding this problem
Thanx for answer friend
here is the screen shot of my boot loader status I ll test more things like OTA update to check the boot loader.
Sent from my LT15a using XDA
Your Bootloader is Locked I presume
Because Otherwise, Instead of that, it says the following
While your efforts are appreciated, the simpler way would be to use DooMLoRD's Rooting Toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
which works for both locked and unlocked bootloaders.
Rasgula if you use setools using the test point method this opens your boot loader.
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT UPDATE OVER THE AIR OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
The pics you upped show your boot loader is open.
By using test point/setools you can still update via pcc or seus or flashtools
Sent from my LT18i using XDA App
thanx for answer friend but i did last night over the air update it works fine for me no brick n then i try to install Arconium ICS 2.2 with doomlord kernel it works fine for me.
i search n i find its look like my boot loader is locked ... but why its happened i dont kno but i think its good for me.

Probably problem is in version of my device. It is LGK420N.
Can k428 unlock?
Lg k10 (K428). Can it unlock?
LG k10 ms428 carrier MetroPCS processor Qualcomm
First I wanted to say thank you for everyone helping out! I really appreciate all the hard work everyone puts in so thank you..
With that being said comma I am still very confused about the LG K10 Metro PCS Qualcomm variant.
Read and reread the red over and over and I still haven't found a screenshot showing that it has been rooted properly.
But not only that custom recovery is also needed.
If anyone has a link or any information on how to flash custom recovery and to obtain root I would greatly appreciate it.

It already notifies you just before you approve the confirmation. Take care of yourself and do not apply the whole steps you see on the computer screen. Try looking at the screen of your device as well!

[Bricked] So finally I managed to "brick?" my phone I guess, but maybe still hope?
Hello everyone!
So after rooting and unrooting my phone already 2 times successfully since I have it, my stupidity went out and so I managed to brick it (OEM Unlock greyed out and bootloader is re-locked). So here some important points:
I am able to get into the OS
SIM and Wi-Fi module (and probably more) aren't working
I cannot check the OEM Unlock as it is greyed out and it says I have to connect to the internet or contact provider
I cannot unlock the bootloader. I have to check the OEM Unlock switch (which is as already said greyed out and not checkable)
I have access to fastboot and recovery mode
I can enter via cmd/terminal into fastboot and issue commands
Lenovo Smart Assistant Recovery feature does not recognize the phone anymore in fastboot
Blankflash didn't work, stuck on <waiting for device>. Probably too not recognizing fastboot
Qualcomm unbrick method not working as the driver does not recognize the phone as such
I am just a small step away of giving up and selling the phone as a parts replacer
Well I think it's not possible to fix this phone anymore, but maybe you Gurus know a way? That's why I resorted here before giving up.
Thanks!

You marvelous genius. That did the trick. I was so bluffed with the case that neither sim nor wifi was working so the rest was also dead so I wasn't even considering it. And the bluetooth trick did the trick and was able to unlock the bootloader again.
I had to reflash the modem and fsg again after stock flash to get both working again, but in the end it is unbricked and works.
Thank you so much, may your life will be plastered with joy and happiness.

moto G never die! haha
Hi @KnSZXS and @gonza_30, I have the same problem. After flashing Havoc OS, somewhere down the line I have bricked the phone and followed the unbrick process. I had problems with fastboot telling me that it cannot accept commands or something on those lines when unbricking but when I unplugged and re-pluuged USB to system, the fastboot commands worked. So, between every command, I had to unplug my USB cable and re-plug and execute the next command. Somehow, I have finished flashing. The only error was that no matter what, fastboot erase DDR never worked for me. But the phone booted up and everything works except wifi and phone signal. What do I do.
I tried
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
as only two commands but still no signal or wifi. It does not detect driver at all. What do I do?

When you are done flashing the rom, boot up and when you get to language selection turn off and boot into fastboot again. Then hit those commands
can you post the modem and fsg files here. I have downloaded a leaked pie image and the stock image from unbrick guide. Both of them do not work.
If you want to unbrick, then just use the official stock rom:
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/evert/official/
Pick the right folder for your device and download the latest stock rom. There is no need to post them here as those files are in the .zip anyway

As hard as I have tried, I simply cannot match the right rom to my phone. I get the general drift, and I've worked out which folder relates to the EU, but I have already tried three roms and each of them give me the dreaded OEM warning message and the ROM will not run.

bootloader

hi sorry english but i use google translator i have encountered problems with unlocking the bootloader. I explain then after that or entered the account the device asks mi to reset the phone and after forgetting account done all this continues to ask me to redo the usual procedure and does not send me forward as a consequence in flash does not make me the unlock procedure how can i solve?
Very difficult to understand your question but i'll try.
First, you need to have a MI account logged in your phone, and also in the MI unlock tool on the PC.
Then, you need to wait for the time generated by the MI unlock tool, could be a few hours to days. After the wait time has completed, only then can you unlock the bootloader.
You also need to allow usb debugging and allow OEM unlocking in developer options.

You have to do what it asks first and connect the phone via usb cable, then click on unlock and then it will generate the wait time.

the crux of the problem is precisely that I cannot add the MI account to the mobile phone when I insert it I am told to insert it correctly but immediately afterwards a window appears asking to reset and then rejoin the account and after doing so continue continue to ask me to reinsert accounts

How to bypass fastboot low battery warning / FAILED (remote: Warning: battery's capacity is very low)

Hello Everyone I'm writting this post to hoping that This would help many people. Because I didn't find any proper solution for this on the internet.
Scenario: Suppose you flashed wrong file or did something wrong and somehow you bricked your device in such a state where your device will only go to fastboot mode stable or unstable fastboot mode ( fastboot restarts itself after few seconds).
Means your boot/recovery all destroyed. Luckily your bootloader is unlocked. So you felt realx thinking that you can flash recovery/boot from fastboot to fix your device. Then you flashed an image through fastboot and saw an warning like " FAILED (remote: Warning: battery's capacity is very low)".

Thats when the problem begins .
It's because before device got bricked it had very low charge. And without boot or recovery image your device don't know how to charge itself. So weather if your device is in fastboot or edl 9008 don't expect it to charge itself. And by fastboot rule it won't accept any file if it has low battery.
For exactly below 3478mV any file writing is unacceptable.
I found a solution on XDA How to fix the 'Low Battery' fastboot loop . Basically it's a fastboot script which restarts bootloader in a continues loop to charge it in the mean-time of reboot to fastboot.
Code:
@echo off
:start
fastboot getvar battery-voltage
fastboot reboot-bootloader
ping /n 6 localhost >nul
goto start
I mean no disrespect to that post, The way it was trying to do it maybe it make some sense but not much.
Because like others I have run this script for several hours for several times and got no result. I was running this script on laptop then i thought maybe laptop is not giving proper output delivery. Then I tried with my desktop back usb port but no good.
Instead for running this script so long that in those thousands reboot my device surely lost some of its lifetime early and it corrupted my internal partition which I've discoverd after fixing my device.
Ok then the next option I had was opening the backshell which I don't want. Tried customer service they denied because of unofficial device. Local shops failed also they tried to open back shell but I didn't let them.
So your'e basically doomed like me because Brands like realme doesn't provide any flash tool/flash tool credentials for free. And remote unbrick is very much costly.
Solution:
After trying many things I found an App on play store Called Bugjaeger Mobile ADB - Develop & Debug via USB OTG.
Requisitions :
1. NO Root Required
2. App itself
3. Good OTG cable
4 Proper USB cable
5. Nothing else
For stable fastboot user:
First download the app in a device which support OTG connection. plug in otg cable.
Now connect your device to other device via OTG in fastboot mode. Now press on < > This icon and type your command like you do In pc
for example "fastboot flash recovery" after recovery give a space and click on attachment icon in the top right corner then select your file. Then run the command .
Boom you have successfully ignored fastboot low battery warning. Enjoy.
For unstable fastboot users:
I have calculated that my device was restarting in every 5 secons. could be different for you.
So what I did. Before going to fastboot mode the app show some AD.
so first disable it by adding private DNS like dns.adguard.com or better turn off wifi/mobile data.
Then suppose you want to flash recovery so make copy of command 'fastboot flash recovery" this will save 2 seconds and keep your file in your root directory so it will also save time. After everything set hit flash As soon as possible.
My recovery size was 98 mb and It had only 2 seconds to push it to the device. It said " sending recovery ok- writing failed" so you better use good cable.
Means it was able to successfully sent the file but didn't got image writing status because your device got turned off. But don't worry.
sent the img file was all the things we needed. I tried it 2 times and it works.
If it is unclear please watch the video to how to use this app
Tips:
1. Never do any risky task with low battery .
Conclusion : I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong with your device. I shared it only thinking that this will save many people from hassels.
Thank you.
So you need a second device via OTG to fix the unstable bootloader?
My case is that the phone works perfectly, IMEI wifi calls etc, recovery works aswell but fastboot is broken.
Restarts after 2 or 3 seconds while holding the button, If release the phone will just boot normally.
This happened right after trying to lock the bootloader again coming from realmen UI 2.0 beta
Any thoughts?

did you checked that in device manager of windows?

I've to run; adb reboot recovery, then in stock recovery I can run 9008 qualcomm state and it is detected by windows.
I has the same problem, but only with recovery flashing. For other partitions flashing works correct.
I just deleted recovery:
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
Аnd the problem is gone.
Now i can flash it:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Device: Oukitel k7 power.
Sorry for bad englich.
