Hooray. Boot loop, safe mode, error, then dead, then alive, dead again - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

IT'S JUST A ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS!
Alright, I've had this thing since 2015, it's in pristine shape since it's lived in an Otter Box all it's life, so I'm hoping it can be brought back from the dead.
A few weeks ago, it suddenly went into a boot loop. Phone is un-touched, just running random Play store apps and Nova Launcher (wouldn't even have that if TouchWiz hadn't kept crashing one day).
Thought I would be a smartass and fool around with the safe mode setting, etc. Well, apparently I did something very wrong, and ended up with an error message like this:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910A
CURRENT BINARY: Samung Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A2, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START
Figuring I had probably broken it enough, I dropped it off at a repair place. They said they'd poke around, no guarantees. Week later: no joy, couldn't get it to work. I resigned myself to the fact I was out a phone and would need a replacement. A friend of mine recommended popping onto here and trying to download...a thing? I forget, some acronym that would reset it to Samsung's defaults.
So, I plug my phone in via USB, hit the power button.......AND IT'S ALIVE. Like it's a fresh build. Enter in my google info, run through some setup steps. I figure all is accidentally well. But now it's dead again. Screen won't turn on, though Windows tried (and found) some USB drivers.
It seems like it wants to work, but....won't. Maybe it's being moody, I dunno.
Any thoughts?

If you want to try to recover and start 100% fresh you can go on sammobile.com and download the latest software/firmware for your phone as well as the program ODIN. The site has instructions on how to load it onto your phone. As long as you have download mode (power, volume down & home button once phone off) and a charged 80%+ battery you should be good to go.
This would wipe EVERYTHING on the phone though.

N910F problems

Sooo it's about 3 days that I'm having problems with my Samsung Note 4.
The phone is about 6 months old and I tried to root it when I bought it without success, so I put the original firmware again (As after successful (or insuccessful?) rooting the phone keept bootlooping all the time). With a few tricks (that I cant remember) i made it working again.
3 days ago I was charging the phone while browsing on google chrome and the phone suddenly turned off and went in a bootloop. I tried installing the original firmware again (Odin says "PASS!" at the end of the process) but it still wont go work. Tried to wipe cache and data, still nothing. Samsung Kies wont recognize my phone to do an emergency recovery.
Another strange thing is that I can enter in download mode but not in recovery mode.
"ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (4)
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLE
UDC START"
That's what it says in download mode and have no idea what it means.
Anyone can help? Im about to freak out
Thanks in advance
Anyone?

Need help with a soft-bricked SM-T337V

My company issues the Verizon flavor of Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 for our users that are out in the field. It seems like this one particular user (or someone close to them) decided to try and root the device in order to get around the restrictions we have on them via a MDM client. When the tablet boots (even when trying to go into recovery via power+home+volume up) it goes to the triangle screen saying "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found. Please turn off and go to the nearest Verizon store". But unfortunately the store turned us away saying there's not much they can do. I am able, however, able to get it into download mode.
So far I've tried flashing the Verizon Stock 4.4.4 firmware, which I found searching around here, via Odin 3.10.7. It gives every indication that the process completed and shows the green "PASS" block up top. When the tablet reboots from flashing, it still goes to the triangle screen. Once the triangle screen comes up, upon reboot there's a lock at the bottom of the boot screen and the word "Custom", shown here: http://i.imgur.com/5PC0qeZ.jpg. It seems like maybe the bootloader isn't correctly being overwritten or something. When the tablet is in download mode, it says the following in the top left (after I've already flashed it a few times):
Odin Mode
Product name: SM-T337V
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
Reactivation Lock(KK): Off
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A2, P1
Secure Download: Enable
UDC Start
I'd like to think I'm not a total novice with this stuff, but I'm at a bit of a loss at the moment. Where should I go from here? I've read from a different thread about the note 3 that sometimes you have to flash the .pit file again in order to nuke the partitions, but so far I haven't been able to find one I feel comfortable enough to try.

[fixed] Stuck in bootloop after attempting to clean headphone jack.

I was trying to clean my headphone jack on my samsung galaxy grand prime because it was having an issues of only playing music out of the left side of the headphones, and my googling told me that it was most likely just a dirty jack. So I was using a Qtip and rubbing alcohol (which was what was suggested to use after canned air which I don't have) and now for some reason it's stuck in a boot loop.
So I put it into recovery mode as per here and cleared the cache, which didn't do anything. So next I tried to recovery mode again and now it's stuck in something called Odin mode and says this:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G530AZ
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T2, H1, A4, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
then there's a picture of the android with "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" underneath.
I made the text the colors on the screen in case it's relevant. I'm really panicking right now because I have an on call job and need to be able to get in touch with them daily so any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. I've never changed the ROM or anything like that, it was just the stock that came with the phone and the phone was unrooted (because I'm addicted to pokemon go lol)

If you still able to access it, that's some good news, that's download mode, you could use that for fixing phone (idk if this will solve your problem) by reflashing stock firmware, but the bad news is you need to know your phone's baseband first
It seems to have fixed itself after leaving the battery out all night. I mean the headphone jack problem is still there but as long as the phone is working IDGAF.

Odin mode says Custom, Settings says Official?

Hi guys. Like a bunch of other threads around here, my Note 4 (N910F) was pretty much the perfect device until about 4 days ago at which point it started rebooting a lot. At first I suspected an app update to be corrupt or something and the cause of this, so I cleared cache, but no joy. It also then began to hang whilst booting on occasion, so I did a factory reset. No joy. Since then things have gotten worse, occasionally it will boot into recovery mode, sometimes it'll say it's in download mode etc. I've had a screen when it bumped me into Odin Mode that said mmc_read failed. I've had kernel panics where it complained about EXT4-fs throwing errors. Okay, so the internal storage has gone bad, I understand that. It's 22 months old, has a 24 month warranty.
However... as per the thread title, when I get into Odin mode, it says:
Code:
Could not do normal boot.
ddi : mmc_read failed
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF

Do not turn off target!!
Thing is, I've never rooted this phone. I've never installed anything but OTA firmwares. I've considered it certainly, but there was just no need to like there was in past generations. I've never installed any cracked apps. On the occasions when I can get the phone to boot, and go to Settings > About Device > Status, it tells me that it's official. So why is Odin saying it's Custom? And are Samsung going to refuse a warranty repair because of this? I'm also not entirely clear on what System Status in Odin reflects. Is it meant to be the current firmware, or is it a lifetime counter that says whether it's ever had another firmware on it. The thing that puzzles me is that I got the phone new and I really, really mean it when I say it's always been stock and official. My baseless theory is that if it can't boot, it can't read some blocks so can't properly hash the filesystem, hence saying it's custom. On occasions where it can boot, it can read those blocks and can complete some kind of hash.
I just want to get it fixed, but I suspect I'm not going to get them to fix it under warranty.
Any thoughts?
EDIT:
It just occurred to me that at no point had I deliberately gone into download mode myself, I'd only ever been in it when it couldn't boot. So I tried it. This is what it shows:
Code:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N910F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0X0
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)

This kind of backs up my theory that the "system status: custom" bit is coming from it not being able to read blocks on the eMMC when it starts.

Galaxy J500FN bricked. Last attempt before throwing it out.

Hi there,
I wanted to put Cyanogenmod on an J500FN and went straight to Odin without enabling developer options Why? Bc I am dumb.
Since Odin failed I cant even get into recovery mode. Can't enter a password. Can't do anything, really.
Normal start and Recovery Mode start result in the screen showing the Android logo and then turning yellow/green before fading to black.
Download mode is working. I tried Kies, Smart Switch, Odin. Each time it fails and a read line on the phone appears ("Mom Mode. Can't Download"). Using stock firmware from Sammobile results in the same outcome.
Download mode says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-J500FN
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
FRP Lock: Off
WARRANTY VOID: 0x0
RP SWREV: S1, T1, H1 R1, A1, P1
Secure Download: Enable
MOM MODE. CAN'T DOWNLOAD (<--- Added in red each time Odin fails)
Is the phone toast?
Thanks!
1.Try doing wipe data before flashing the firmware.
2.Try flashing Stock LP firmware.
3.Try to flash using Heimdall, which doesn't have some restrictions that Odin has.
4.Nand erase all option in odin might help a bit.
5.If none of these works i guess you need to flash the device using Z3x box or jtag. Go ye visit a samsung service and hopefully they manage to fix your problem.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions
I have tried everything I could think of and read about. Unfortunately, there was no debrick image for the model I need.
Ultimately, after days of extensive searching and trying, I give up at this point.
Either way, great forum, and thanks again for all the comments!
