Android P GSI - Status - Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello guys,
Tonight i flashed and worked on the Android P GSi on our Z2 Pro. As of now there are "only" some issues left which I'm working on.
Not working:
- Fingerprintscanner
- VoLTE
- Some chargers didn't charge (the original one is working, S9 charger doesn't work, same problem as some pixel users have)
Antutu Score is 163.000

Thanks a lot, those are good news. Hope you will solve at least fp issue without great deal of work needed. Fingers crossed.

Thank you bro.... :good:

How to fix fingerprint sensor on most devices:
Go to build.prop (vendor/build.prop) and look for fingerprint persist.qfp, if it says false, make it equal to true. Reboot. Go to setting and add a fingerprint and wait 1 minute after that the finger sensor should work as it was intended to Even after a reboot. Click thx (like button) if this method helped you. Cheers!

Hello, thank you for you courage to do it.
I also thought about it. But much more I read much unsure I was that it works.
Can you tell us how you done it?
Have you flashed P GSI image then the GSI image? (for A or A/B)?
What about the kernel?
Have you tried the tip from PrakarshRocks ?
Thanx in advance for keeping us in touch...

Hello guys,
I'm still working on/debugging the problem.
There was a problem with root on the gsi image. Now it's working. After work i will test the solution from @meDAem.
After some days of usage i can say it is way more stable than any other rom in the past for it's very early stage. I didn't have any fc's so far. Synchronisation is working perfectly, Google Apps are working.
And there is some progress which i reached on the weekend (can only do it when my gf is sleeping) but after some time the function of the fp disappears.

Now with telegram group to share results from android development.
https://t.me/joinchat/Dp-JJAengw2zTAkef_L7TA

thank
Thank you very much for your contribution, I would like to ask when can you release it for us to use?

It's done when it's done ??*

Did anyone try the new AOSP build yet ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...vice-development/aosp-9-0-phh-treble-t3831915

Fingerprint reader feels very sluggish/weird

Hey guys,
I registrated for this issue, but still I want to thank all of you here. I've found help here for many many years before, so thank you for that .
Now I need to describe my problem to get some help: I've bought my Z1 October last year and suddenly since yesterday the fingerprint reader feels just kinda broken. What I mean is that on Cyanogen OS 12.1 (stock) the fingerprint reader just stopped working completely. I then flashed CM13 (newest nightly) and here it is working, but only when I wake up the phone with the ON/OFF button, and not the home button with the integrated fingerprint reader.
When I use the ON/OFF button everything works perfect, but the home button doesn't work in like 9 out of 10 times. Now I wonder if the fingerprint reader is just broken already or if this is "just" some software issue. But I don't really think that the fingerprint reader is broken, because why didn't it work at all on Cyanogen OS 12.1 but now just not the home screen? I don't know.
Is there any way to test if the fingerprint reader is actually broken? Or another way to fix this? I really, really like the Z1 so far, but this really bugs me.
Thanks in advance .
PS: If this issue was already a topic I'm sorry, i didn't find it. And forgive my english, it's not my mother tongue.
Now that's funny.. exactly the same thing happened to me. All of a sudden, fingerprint reader stopped working yesterday, without having installed an update. When I now try to active fingerprint, it sort of crashes, vibrating for a long time and speeding through the ' fingerprint tutorial' as if I were touching it, which I'm not. This, combined with some random rebooting and crashing. Just did a factory reset and doesn't solve the problem. Not sure whether the reader is broken, but I'm getting pretty fed-up with Cyanogenmod.
Ok that's very interesting. Kinda sounds like it would be a broken update or something, even tho we both didn't install an update. Very strange.
Which OS are you running right now? Is it the same you were running when the issues started? I kinda thought about trying out ZUI, but I've heard it's kinda complicated to get it to work and to go back to CM if required.
running CM12.1. Guess I just wait and see if 13.0 solves the problem.. if they are ever gonna finish that this year. Phone is a lot quicker after the reset btw.. so that is recommendable
Yes, maybe I will try out CM12.1 later today and reply if it worked for me or not. At least CM13 is working like half the time.
Edit: Where can I download the CM12.1 stable? I can't find it on the CM site.
Many people including me are having this problem. We can't find a solution: it's almost one month since fingerprint stopped working.
Home button stopped working too, so I have to use onscreen buttons now. Really frustrated

Are you using Cyanogen OS?
I am on cyanogenmod 13. I tried to switch between many ROMs, tried to go back to cyanoOS with QFIL but had the same problem you mentioned (phone fast skipping the initial configuration of fingerprint, or always vibrating)
After some days, home button stopped working too (it works 1 time out of 6-7)

Damn, that really sucks. I hope this won't happen to my phone too. I was really happy with the Z1 until now, but why tose issues started with so many people now?
Did you think about sending it back?
I don't really know!
Yes, as soon as I'll get a spare phone I'll send it to China (I've ordered it from Gearbest so I will have to wait for months to get it back)

Hey
I just have an status update if anyone else is having this problem and finds this thread.
After my Z1 having terrible battery life on CM13 I went back to the stock Rom (Cyanogen OS 12.1). Right after I've used the Zuk Z1 root tool (to find here on xda) to go back to stock my phone told me that there is a new official update. Right now I'm running stock Cyanogen OS 12.1 YOG4PAS60J. I've just tried out the fingerprint reader again and now it works without any troubles. So it seems like this was just a software issue.
I will try it out more detailed the next days but for now it works wonderful. I hope this is helpful for someone who is having the same problems.

Hey, yes of course I can do this. And no, the Z1 root tool I meant is another one. I will link it in the steps.
1) I've flashed CM13 Nightlies, later I've clearly flashed the CM13 Snapshot
2) Because the Fingerprint Reader wasn't really working on CM13 either and I had terrible battery life I went back to Stock Cyanogen OS 12.1
3) To archieve that I#ve used this tool from Mauronofrio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/orig-development/tool-toolzukz1eng0-0-3-mauronofrio-t3332563
4) I used the instructions in the linked thread to go back to Stock
5) After everything went fine I was setting my phone up when I got a popup for a new Update OTA: YOG4PAS60J
6) I've installed that
7) After like 2 or 3 days I tried out of curiosity if maybe the fingerprint reader works again, and it does.
That's all I've done. After some testing with the fingerprint reader I think my fingerprint reader has still a little bit loose contact, but it works pretty good. So I think it's a mix out of an hardware and an software issue.
I hope I could help you a little bit.
EDIT: It started to not work anymore. I just said "**** it" and disabled the fingerprint reader now. Im very sure now that it's only a hardware problem.
This is exactly what happened to mine! In about 2 days it started lagging a lot and almost stopped working. When I tried to set new fingerprints, it just got stuck in the screen. Did a factory reset (including user data!), tried to set fingerprints and on the 1st try, it just speeds through the wizard without me touching the fingerprint reader, on the 2nd, it starts to vibrate like I was pressing it and I've to force the shutdown to stop. Pretty disappointed with this right now. :/

Hey people.
I had the same problem few days ago. It happened when i restored the stock rom back through twrp. Now i have flashed dirty unicorns 6.0 and the finger print seems to be working fine now.
the problem is in hardware button on my zuk fingerprint stopped working around 1 year ago i tried installing various softwares as zui or cm13 but it did not worked so i have use it only as home button then around half year ago it just stopped working i decided to buy it for 10 dollars from ali express after dissambelling the phone and installing it works now with all functions so the problem is only hardware maybe installing some zip folder will help you for a while but it will stop working soon by the way dissasmbeling the screen was wery hard i have done that with a heat pistol on 300°c

I really appreciate your hard work. :good:
Some screenshots are below:
OK, thanks guys. I think it will be released soon =)
About camera: Yes, the capture photos mode needs to be improved. But the fact that the camera works on Marshmallow, it is already a good work (thanks to Otto Juntunen for it).
By the way, the capture photos can works in third-party camera apps such as Camera MX or Camera Pro HD. You can try that.

You are genius, finally we got Camera on MM
Just downloaded it and will report back after using it tomorrow at work etc.
After a night, CPU management seems strange: the temperature varies between 30 ° and 54 ° depending on the processor occupation, without an app is launched (almost idle state)

Will the Google's Camera app work here? Thanks in advance!
Camera works but pictures do not get saved. Tried Snap, Google, MX, FV-5 cameras. Battery life is horrible, 11 mins onscreen time and 6hrs in standby took around 60% battery. Tried modifying camera permissions but didnt do the trick. All in all it is a progress because of the camera but rom is very WIP. Thanks Dev!
The only camera that takes pictures and saves it is the one from Facebook Messenger app. Others that i tried, didn't work. Also, yes, the battery just flies off ...in 5 hours stand by and 1 hour on screen i got 5%.
Bug if is active WakeLocks in Advanced: Wi-Fi random shortly disconnecting after interval 4-10min Wi-Fi ON/2-4sec. Wi-Fi DISCONNECT and RECONNECT.
@Chippa_a can i get a link to your source code please?
I also notice random cuts during conversations (it can cut after 30 seconds or 5 minutes) = network connection is interrupted and returns 2 seconds after (blank network icon for 2 seconds)
Also found out there's no hotspot, the quick settings icon does nothing. Not so important but i just wanted to let you know.

Le max 2 finger print

My fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to be working as when I add a fingerprint it occasionally says 'try againe' at the top of the screen and then won't register my finger print. If it does not do that then it retest eras my finger all the way till the last part and then don't respond or vibrate. How can I solve this issue?
I have the same issue.
Looks like I have the same issue as reported by my wife (I'm currently not in possession of the unit as I'm abroad and it has arrived few days back). She knows how to register as I have the Letv 1s and she was playing with it before.
The symptoms are as you say, no vibration and no detection of the fingerprint.
Can it be from the rom that came with the phone (maybe multilanguage). I can't remember if on 1s I had this problem.
Currently I have emailed the shop and I'm waiting for their reply. If you guys find a fix, please share.

Hi,
For me, the fingerprint scanner is the real weak point of this phone.
If it would have a better one, it would be flawless... except for the lack of development due to LeEco not publishing open source for their devices
And trust me : I've had the OP3 for several days before getting the LeEco. And that fingerprint scanner works as it should and in a blink of an eye you can use your phone !
What I found out is that this fingerprintscanner is really sssslllllooooowwwww....
So press it once, and then put your finger back on for several seconds.
But of course, doing so reduces the nice thing in having a fingerprint scanner as you're done quicker with "screen on" + "pattern/code"...
Really hope that LeEco can improve this... but when I see how they act on their own forums (a representative posts about every 20 days) I am not that optimistic

What version of the software are you using?
The fingerprint sensor has gotta be the worst ever in a mobile device. My phone takes good 5 seconds to unlock. Registering new fingerprints takes ages. Last I heard that this was some qualcomm tech which does scanning of skin layers under the top layer. But right now the technology is big fail.
That fingerprint sensor hardware is beta 1 in our phone. I am sure the new Le Max 3 which is coming out with Snapdragon 823 will not have this issue. They will advertise how the fingerprint is now 100x faster than before and bla bla.

Even my device on 15S unlockes after 5 seconds. The worst sensor and algorithm ever.
Hello guys,
One way to make finger print recognition better : save several time the same finger print.
Not very sexy but it works for me
So as I have arrived home, I've changed the firmware to 015s stock and the fingerprint started to work. Of course it's not ideal as my 1s but at least it's working. It takes about a second to read and unlock... acceptable to be honest. Maybe they will improve with the upgrades because for 1s it had improved within 2-3 firmwares to super fast recognition.

My experiences after several ROM, the international Indian ROM has removed bug.
Recognition really fast, from 10 attempts 8 immediately.
Note!
By the installation Rome should be installed super su with.
The encoding is prevented with it.
i have the same experience here... got my max2 from geekbuying but wont even recognize my fingerprints... so i updated to 5.8 eui from india not the Chinese version and not it works... however it takes one sec to open slower than my honor 5x. ... hope leeco would make it a bit faster considering the new tech it has...
Is there a major difference between the indian rom and the stock chinese rom that has english language? Does the indian rom have english language selection?
Yes the system language is complete into English.
The fingerprint scanner on 5.8.16s is much improved It seems much faster now. There was even an upgrade notice at first boot where it said it would erase my previous prints to upgrade.
Thanks for the update, will try it.

Hello, I'm searching a rom based on android 7.x, i've tried rr 5.8.3 but i had the fp problem and battery drain, all other roms 7 have fp problem. I want a good rom with no battery drain and fp working. if there isn't one ,link me a good rom 6.0
On next day should be released miui 9 dev for our device. Keep an eye on this thread https://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/miui-weekly-rom-releases.103/

I can't say for sure about FP since all the recent Nougat roms have worked fine for me regarding FP.
I would recommend LOS from 28/8 for the battery alone. It's pretty close to MIUI:

My initial tests with LOS 28/8 were great, but there is a bug with the stock camera app. When recording video at night the recording is very dark and has some artifacts. I was able to get around this using Bacon Camera (Open Camera and Footej Camera also work). Other than that I haven't noticed any bug except for compass being out of whack, but I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.
No reason to be scared though, if you backup in TWRP you can always roll back.

Both fixes are bootimages, so they cannot be installed together. I guess the later fix (brightness) already contains the charging notification fix.
I think I have a good Lineage build based on other guys' sources. I'm testing it for a couple of weeks - no reboots, all the bugs seem to be fixed, battery lasts for about 2 days for me. Drop me a message if interested - if there will be a decent demand, I'll publish my build... and may be ResurrectionRemix.

Rom with always ready fingerprint

Hi.
I'm looking for a custom rom with always ready fingerprint, like on MIUI. I've tried a few week ago one of the custom rom, and it was annoying that I must click unlock button and then i can unlock device by fingerprint.
Can You help?
Best regards
Try evolutionx 5.1.
LineageOS works if you enable "always on display". Put your finger and unlock directly.
Shapeshift OS ? has the best implementation for fingerprint unlock.
Very fast and stable rom with Always FOD ready + it has the feature that disables night light on FP recognizing for more accuracy.
thanks for the replying, i tried shapeshitft os, but my bank app was crashed. I've also tried evolutionx, but i've got big problem with performance and camera. Finally, i've backed to global, first time since 1,5 year. And this is it. I forgot, that device can be smooth and bug-free. There's perfect. Thanks for replying Good luck, be health
