Rom with always ready fingerprint - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hi.
I'm looking for a custom rom with always ready fingerprint, like on MIUI. I've tried a few week ago one of the custom rom, and it was annoying that I must click unlock button and then i can unlock device by fingerprint.
Can You help?
Best regards

Try evolutionx 5.1.

LineageOS works if you enable "always on display". Put your finger and unlock directly.

Shapeshift OS ? has the best implementation for fingerprint unlock.
Very fast and stable rom with Always FOD ready + it has the feature that disables night light on FP recognizing for more accuracy.

thanks for the replying, i tried shapeshitft os, but my bank app was crashed. I've also tried evolutionx, but i've got big problem with performance and camera. Finally, i've backed to global, first time since 1,5 year. And this is it. I forgot, that device can be smooth and bug-free. There's perfect. Thanks for replying Good luck, be health

Le max 2 finger print

My fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to be working as when I add a fingerprint it occasionally says 'try againe' at the top of the screen and then won't register my finger print. If it does not do that then it retest eras my finger all the way till the last part and then don't respond or vibrate. How can I solve this issue?
I have the same issue.
Looks like I have the same issue as reported by my wife (I'm currently not in possession of the unit as I'm abroad and it has arrived few days back). She knows how to register as I have the Letv 1s and she was playing with it before.
The symptoms are as you say, no vibration and no detection of the fingerprint.
Can it be from the rom that came with the phone (maybe multilanguage). I can't remember if on 1s I had this problem.
Currently I have emailed the shop and I'm waiting for their reply. If you guys find a fix, please share.

Hi,
For me, the fingerprint scanner is the real weak point of this phone.
If it would have a better one, it would be flawless... except for the lack of development due to LeEco not publishing open source for their devices
And trust me : I've had the OP3 for several days before getting the LeEco. And that fingerprint scanner works as it should and in a blink of an eye you can use your phone !
What I found out is that this fingerprintscanner is really sssslllllooooowwwww....
So press it once, and then put your finger back on for several seconds.
But of course, doing so reduces the nice thing in having a fingerprint scanner as you're done quicker with "screen on" + "pattern/code"...
Really hope that LeEco can improve this... but when I see how they act on their own forums (a representative posts about every 20 days) I am not that optimistic

For me the fingerprint Scanner is working perfectly. Faster than iPhone 6 und it only fails to read 1 out of 15. Got 3 prints registered and it does very well

What version of the software are you using?
The fingerprint sensor has gotta be the worst ever in a mobile device. My phone takes good 5 seconds to unlock. Registering new fingerprints takes ages. Last I heard that this was some qualcomm tech which does scanning of skin layers under the top layer. But right now the technology is big fail.
That fingerprint sensor hardware is beta 1 in our phone. I am sure the new Le Max 3 which is coming out with Snapdragon 823 will not have this issue. They will advertise how the fingerprint is now 100x faster than before and bla bla.

And to the guy over this post:. 5 seconds for fingerprint unlock? May be your device is faulty. I didnt experience this. Even not on stockrom

Even my device on 15S unlockes after 5 seconds. The worst sensor and algorithm ever.
Hello guys,
One way to make finger print recognition better : save several time the same finger print.
Not very sexy but it works for me
So as I have arrived home, I've changed the firmware to 015s stock and the fingerprint started to work. Of course it's not ideal as my 1s but at least it's working. It takes about a second to read and unlock... acceptable to be honest. Maybe they will improve with the upgrades because for 1s it had improved within 2-3 firmwares to super fast recognition.

My experiences after several ROM, the international Indian ROM has removed bug.
Recognition really fast, from 10 attempts 8 immediately.
Note!
By the installation Rome should be installed super su with.
The encoding is prevented with it.
i have the same experience here... got my max2 from geekbuying but wont even recognize my fingerprints... so i updated to 5.8 eui from india not the Chinese version and not it works... however it takes one sec to open slower than my honor 5x. ... hope leeco would make it a bit faster considering the new tech it has...
Is there a major difference between the indian rom and the stock chinese rom that has english language? Does the indian rom have english language selection?
Yes the system language is complete into English.
The fingerprint scanner on 5.8.16s is much improved It seems much faster now. There was even an upgrade notice at first boot where it said it would erase my previous prints to upgrade.
Thanks for the update, will try it.

[Q]Why does fingerprint never work in N7 ROMs?

as per title really?
I've googled around a bit and not found anything definitive to explain the root-cause.
A few sites and threads claim to fix or provide a workaround, but from what I've read these are not 100% guaranteed to fix on all variants , all ROMs
I personally have tried latest versions of:
RamRom
DN
X-Rom
Norma
...with none having any fingerprint functionality before or after trying various "fixes"
What gives?
Edit: Yes, we know fp is pretty crap on N4 out of the box anyway, but please, can someone provide detail on why the N7 ports often fail in fp function ?
Well actually the fingerprint reader is really great on my N910C, and I have yet to find any Marshmallow rom that offers fingerprint log-on after a cold boot. They all work for apps and stand-by on/off log-on, but not at boot.
I think, as per usual, the hardware support for developers is crap by Samsung.
In Lollipop roms the fingerprint reader works like a charm.
I'm using nemesis Rom, using 3rd party app work like a charm.
Name of d app called (applock) pro version from play store.

Finger scan lock is working flawlessly in RamRom here on latest version (6) for N910F/G. It was pretty smooth on the last version (4) too.

Fingerprint Enabler xposed module can be used to enable fingerprint log-on after boot.
And if one wishes to bypass the fingerprint log-on, No Lock Home xposed module can be used, works when connected to wi-fi.
If you're talking about Note 7 ports, the reason why fingerprint is not working, the same reason as to why AOD is not working, is because of hardware differences.
The reason why Ramrom manages to get fingerprint working is because it's not really a port but more of a stock Note 4 rom with a Note 7 skin and apps available on it.

com.fingerprint service missing - home button not functioning

Hello, I have a OnePlus Two running the latest CM 14.1 nightly. My fingerprint sensor will not work. It stopped working a week ago, at which point I was still running Oxygen OS, whatever the latest update for it had been. my sensor became buggy, not responding, then quit altogether. I have to use onscreen buttons. I still had fingerprint options at that point in my system settings, but I couldn't do anything with them because they were grayed out. I ended up switching to CM 14.1 hoping a new ROM would help it to work, but now my fingerprint sensor is still non-functional.
At this point, I do not even have fingerprint settings in my settings. I can not locate the com.fingerprint.... process that is supposed to be running, so at this point i feel like the sensor might work, but the process is gone or does not exist. When I dial *#808# it does not recognize that dial code and gives me no feedback, which reinforces my thought that the fingerprint service just does not exist.
user: johnthepig, at the end of this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/help/home-button-tried-fixes-t3366992/page2) said back in may that after Oxygen 3.0.1, the fingerprint sensor would not work in anything else. that he tried going to CM and it wouldn't work and then he went back to Oxygen and it worked, and back to CM again and it wouldn't work. My experience was that it just stopped working in Oxygen. Is there a way to manually give my phone the proper com.fingerprint service/process to run?

This is BY FAR the best description and observation of the issue. Did you find any information on that service missing from the apps menu?

No, unfortunately I never found a resolution to the issue. I'm still using my OnePlus Two and just operating it with the on screen buttons. At this point I'm just used to it and don't think about it anymore. It was very annoying originally. I'm still not sure if it's just the missing process, or whether it's a hardware issue and because the hardware isn't there, it doesn't obtain the process or what. Idk honestly. I resigned myself to on screen buttons till I upgrade in another year or so.

Third party app's fingerprint issue in every custom ROM I've tested

Hey guys!
Just to be clear it is not a hardware issue I don't have any kind of a problem with the stock ROM. Everything fingerprint related works as it should.
The problem. I am able to set several apps to use fingerprint login (couple of banking apps and ebay app for example). Everything works fine until the first reboot or the first day. Then the apps suddenly stop to use (or see or detect) the fingerprint sensor. They either start with an error or give the error when I try to login with my finger. When I log in the app with a PIN code I can see the fingerprint login is disabled and when I try to re-enable it the most of the apps crash, some of them just repeat again the error. It's not that they don't recognize the fingerprint itself. They simply don't get that far - they can't use the sensor.
The problem for me is present in every custom ROM I've tried, no matter 8.1 or 9.0. I've tested Liquid Remix (9.0), Havoc (9.0) and Bootleggers (8.1)
On the other hand unlocking the device with fingerprint works always fast and perfectly fine no matter the ROM - stock or custom.
Just a little update here. I found another ROM that (so far) has no problems in regards of the fingerprint. The unofficial Pixel Experience.

Fingerprint reader and custom ROMs

Soon after I bought OP6T some time ago, first thing I did was to flash custom ROM only to find out that there were no custom ROMs that supported in-display fingerprint sensora those days; with a note that "oneplus still has not published api or library or code or whatever, so I let it go and stayed on stock ROM, telling myself it could take a long to get fingerprint working on non-stock ROMS.
Now I have read few forums and it seems that Fingerprint sensor is working on some or most of custom ROMS,. But lot of people writes they install smurf (or other) kernel to get it working etc., so I am little bit muddled and confused, so I want to ask few questions..:
What's the fingerprint situation with Oneplus 6T?
Is it matter or concern of a ROM to have FP capability, or
is functioning FP sensor dependent on kernel,
or is there some other way to get FP working on any ROM, sth. like Magisk module and so on?
For example, fingerprint sensor is not even mentioned in Havoc 2.0 ROM, which I liked on previous OP devices and would like to install again on 6T. But it is mentioned inside the forum, eventhough some times in negative way as "is is sloow". Thanks anyone who has fe moments to explain this to me.
There are a few ROMs w/ Fingerprint Support. It does sometimes need Magisk in order to function on some but not all. I use Carbon and don't have a problem using it.
Havoc ROM has working fingerprint
I use havoc ROM and the fingerprint sensor works like a champ
I'm on sky dragon ROM. Fingerprint works just as well as stock and I've hit 8 hours of SOT. Battery life with this ROM is ridiculous.
My 6T is on Bootleggers 4.2 and fp sensor works just fine. If you're looking to get into custom ROMs, I'd recommend Bootleggers.
Even Havoc is absolutely fine. Although when I was on Havoc, I had this fp bug but it didn't bother me much.
