Help smart recovery - Huawei P Smart Questions & Answers

Hi, my Huawei P smart FIG-LX1 went into a bootloop so I reset and re-installed latest update
after reinstalling and going thorugh set up I tried to install modded pixel launcher 2, it instals but I get a box saying Smart recovery
"your phone has recovered from a serious error caused by pixel launcher" the only two options I have are cancel which resets me back to the default EMUI launcher or Uninstall which obviously uninstalls pixel launcher
( even removed EMUI launcher from /system/app or /system/priv-app folder ) can't remember which folder
Anyone know how to fix this or disable this smart recovery feature?

I got the exact same message a while back when trying to install rootless pixel launcher.
I just ended up using nova with some tweaks to replace it and it works even better imo.
edit: grant the launcher storage permission through settings

[Q] Swtich to stock launcher after pure breeze (user default) crashes after reboot

Hi, I've rebooted my phone after installing some ringtones from a .zip file through recovery mode. And now, my chosen default Pure Breeze launcher always force closes and never works. How do I change to the default stock launcher if I the (user default) Pure Breeze launcher won't start? Thanks!
EDIT: Hi again, the quick fix was to press and hold the home button to get into the task manager, then what I did was to uninstall the Pure Breeze launcher and it reverted back to the default Samsung Home launcher. Hope this solution helps for anyone with the same issue.

Setting ADW Launcher EX as default Launcher KFHD 8.9

After some messing around, I was able to get ADW Launcher EX as my default Home button launcher on my rooted Kindle Fire HD 8.9. :victory:
As usual, the normal disclaimers of modifying your system and potentially bricking it apply.
Previously, I had been using GO Launcher HD as my default launcher to replace the Kindle carousel, using the method of moving the launcher APK to the /system/app directory and setting permissions of the APK using a file manager to User Read/Write/-, Group read/-/-, Others read/-/-, and then rebooting. Unfortunately, this method does not work for ADW Launcher EX. Using the GO Launcher method for ADW Launcher results in a boot loop where ADW immediately crashes with error messages that it has stopped.
If you do find yourself in this kind of boot loop, you can make your way out by navigating to the Search icon, which will bypass the launcher and open the Search application; search for your file manager, like ES File Explorer, and open it so you can get back into your root directory and uninstall the ADW launcher from /system/app. Once that's done, reboot and you'll be back to the regular launcher.
To use ADW Launcher EX as the default launcher, you will need:
Root
Titanium Backup Pro
1. Install ADW Launcher EX as you would any other app.
2. Launch ADW Launcher EX at least once
3. Go into Titanium Backup Pro, find ADW Launcher in the list, long press, and select "Covert to system app"
4. Pressing the Home button should immediately present you with the option to select a launcher. Select ADW and set is as default.
5. Test and reboot.
6. Enjoy your speedy new launcher
This method should work for other versions of ADW, but for all intents and purposes, I have only tried this on ADW Launcher EX. If others have tried with other versions or launchers, please do chime in.
One strange thing that I did notice after doing this was that Titanium Backup Pro, when relaunched, was hanging while "checking for root priveleges". To remedy, I had to go into SuperSU and "Forget" Titanium Backup Pro. After doing that, I rebooted, and granted Titanium Backup Pro root rights and was off on my merry way. I'm not too sure why it happened.
I'm also not entirely sure what Titanium Backup Pro does with "Covert to system app" that makes it work, vs the GO Launcher method of manually moving the apk and changing permissions. If someone can enlighten me on this, it can go a long way in providing modders way of doing this for free, without requiring Titanium Backup + Pro license key (albeit I strongly recommend it, as the Pro features are very useful).
Thank You!
Thank you so much! I have been searching the internet for the last several days trying to find a solution to this. Among a dozen other attempts, I also tried nearly exactly as you suggested, but with one difference. I used my .apk file that I backed up of the app on Titanium, sent to a folder on my computer, then loaded onto my Kindle HD. No go. I just deleted it, and loaded it back on a you suggested. Simply through the Google Play store. Voila! It worked loading it like a regular Google Play app! LOL!
THANK YOU!:good::good::good:
Thanks for the tip. Anyone figure out how to add widgets?
It's simply a matter of installing the widget apk into /system/app and setting permissions to user read/write/- and group and other to read/-/-
There is a thread in this forum with instructions and the apk but here is the one i have in my system/app directory

Yeah the solution was the wierdest thing. I think it has something to do with processes that happen on the initial run. I think between this method and the GO method, most launchers can be covered using either or
Thanks!
Thanks so much from me too. I've had my KFHD a couple of weeks. I liked ADW Launcher EX but it seemed a bit flaky falling back to the carousel each time you pressed the home button. Your method took about 2 minutes and makes my Fire look and feel like the real deal. I registered here just to share my thanks.
I also found that Titanium backup was the only method that worked. I tried this with Apex launcher myself and finally it worked with TB. I also made a video although the process is fairly simple. http://youtu.be/ebL6MOOzayk
Not sure what the OP did wrong, but I had no problem installing ADW Launcher EX as the default launcher by copying to /system/app as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069668
I also installed Go Launcher HD and EX. I only used ES File Explorer. I have the HD 8.9 with 8.4.3 firmware.

Install samsung app apk after April security patch

Could someone kindly remind me how to install a samsung apk from apk mirror after the April Security patch, so as to avoid the existing package error?
If I recall correctly, a member said that you need to toggle a switch in developer options.
Any help will be appreciated. I am trying to install the latest s8 weather app and widget.

You can install Touchwiz Home,Weather and AOD without any issues on DQD7.
They work normal.
Seems that Gallery and Clock cause issues after being installed.
Gallery force closes when opening/editing pictures,Clock timer seems to stop...

I also tried to install the APKs using adb and command prompt, but unfortunately I get failure...
So there is no way at all to sideload an apk after the April Security patch to a non-rooted s7 edge ??????
Me, i reverted back to February Sec firmware
I just got a new software update today was around 170mbs
Csc BTU
I couldnt install apks because of the package conflict issue. But since i updated today i tried installing and everything installed again just fine.
Good news to me no more updates yet
I have Indian S7 edge with April security patch, unrooted android 7.0. I successfully installed weather apk and weather forecast apk, latest version released on 07 may on APK mirror. but when i checked the weather widget it is showing still old design. I cleared data cash no luck.

I have the DQD7 latest update as well. But I cannot install the weather apps of S8...
Even tried by using apk editor. I changed the package name and re-compiled it. I managed to install it as a separate app, but it was not working...
The April Security update is blocking a lot of the Samsung built-in apps from being updated. It usually errors with "The Package conflicts with an existing package by the same name" Does not make a difference if you rollback the last one that worked it will still cause the same error almost each and every time.
It seems that the only apks you can install after the April's security update are the ones that have their own icon (and not just the android head).
The ones with the android head as an icon are probably considered system apps and you cannot install them (like the s8 samsung weather apks), however the ones with their own icon (like the latest s8 samsung home app), can be installed without any problem.
So I suppose we will have to wait from an updated weather app apk...

Clean install...? Meaning backup everything and reseting the phone...?
Or using odin to reinstall DQD7 but using home_csc to keep all your apps and settings intact...?

When I tried installing any S8 APKs I would get the package with the same name error, so here's what I did to be able to install all the S8 APKs I wanted.
1: I put all the APKs I wanted to install on my SD card
2: I used Samsung Cloud to backup my phone (apps, data etc...) but I backed up my Whatsapp chat using Whatsapp chat backup
3: I turned off my phone and booted into recovery and did a factory reset
4: When phone booted back up, I went through all the prompts without adding any accounts(Google, Samsung, etc), I didn't even connect WiFi
5: I opened My Files and opened the folder on my SD card with the S8 APKs
6: I first installed the S8 Launcher, then went into settings/apps/Touch Wiz Home and cleared data
7: Returned back to my S8 APK folder and installed the rest, then rebooted my phone
8: Added my Google & Samsung account and restored from my Samsung Cloud backup, my phone returned the exactly the way it was before I reset it, all missing apps were reinstalled, homescreen were set back up the way they were and all S8 APKs installed are working fine.

I agree... I don't want to factory reset my phone just to get the weather widgets...
I will wait to see if/when new apks of them will be uploaded on apk mirror or wait until a more experienced member finds a way to do it.
The closest I got was that by altering the package names of the apks using apk editor pro, I managed to install the s8 weather widgets as separate apps. So when I was searching through my widgets I could see both the s7 weather widgets and the s8 weather widgets. But unfortunately, when adding the s8 widgets on my home screen, they just stayed there saying "loading" and never loaded any city or time/date etc...

I have package disabler pro. Could you please explain step by step how to do it?
Should I just disable ALL the pink lined (bloatware) apps? Should I also clean the cache of the apps? Should I restart...?
Any help will be appreciated.
Also keen on finding this out , I am running DQCJ and have the same issue too with installing the s8 launcher

Pixel 2 Launcher uninstall revert??

Can somebody please help me out here... I installed the Pixel 2 Launcher APK from XDA here on my Nexus 6P, over top of the OG Pixel Launcher I already had installed and had been using on my 6p, but I didn't like the new layout and stuff so I want to go back to the OG Pixel Launcher, only I can't figure out how. I tried restoring Pixel Launcher through my Titanium Backup, but it still has the new Pixel 2 layout! I tried downloading and installing the APK for the OG Pixel Launcher, and it won't install, says corrupt package every time. I even tried a flashable OG Pixel Launcher zip in TWRP, it flashed but it still has the new Pixel 2 layout when I startup the phone! Also, now my Google now screen to the left of home, I can no longer swipe away any cards! Don't know why or when that started (sometime during all this new Launcher stuff thought for sure).
