[DISCUSSION]Android P OEM UI Port? - Treble-Enabled Device Guides, News, & Discussion

Maybe a little bit early.
Since @erfanoabdi has ported Android P DP images from Pixel XL into semi-GSIs,is it also possible to port P roms from other phones like Vivo x21 and Oneplus 6? Will the process of porting P roms into GSIs much easier?

Wew, seems that i've already get the polaris P working on land:

I like OEM ROM's UI

Well looks like u found out how to do it. ?
Imagine a Samsung port. That would be a massive milestone for android. Porting "touch wiz"/Sam experience. Woah.
Samsung p. Would be a while tho.?
Even tho stock android is better.

so how did you do that?

Meizu M9 port Captivate

I just love the way the Meizu M9 software looks. it looks so clean and smooth. even the theme for MIUI. I was wondering if anybody with developing and porting skills could port it for the captivate. the system dump is right here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N0P6VORT it would be awesome!!

[Q] Xperia S or Sense 4 port?

wondered if the possibility of sense 4 or xperia s rom in my defy the green lens?
sorry for bad english
... the entire ROM is impossible Android is divided into layers and the lowest is directly related to the hardware, no matter what manufacturer, which adopts similar projects between the devices themselves but the hardware is always different.
There is a rom (out of XDA) that may be what you are looking for is called Jboogie 3 - Liquid ARC is not a Sony rom, only the visual changes to look like an Xperia ...

I don't think it is impossible, but it won't happen, at least not now for a few reasons.
Sense 4.0 is extremely difficult, there is a lot of trouble porting it to HTC devices because of the newer kernel and the general action of taking it to ICS. It took ages for DefyFroyoSense (a really old sense 2.0 + 2.2.1 rom for defy) to come together, and now it's been virtually abandoned because it is too hard to dev.
Plus, there aren't really a lot of people who are interested in Sense 4.0 in the defy forums at the moment. If it is a great hassle to port stock vanilla ICS (cm9, aokp and codename android), then you can bet it will be beyond a pain in the ass for sense. Sense in general is pretty much limited to HTC devices.
For Xperia, it isn't easy either. I guess you can port the UI and framework and all that **** but the whole rom... well let's not think about that. Again, it's ICS again, so yeah.
So.... yeah u get my point.
Oh yeah and your defy being a green lens isn't good either, especially if a GB motorola rom will be involved in a possible port. GG.

[Q] Is it possible to port Meizu's Flyme OS?

I've been recently watching the new Meizu MX 4 Core review and noticed that it has a pretty neat OS based on ICS.
As we have fully HWA ICS running on our HD2's, can someone try porting Meizu's Flyme OS? If it would be open-source I'm pretty sure it would be easy to port and it would run smoothly.
You can check the review on this page
maybe the "Learning Never Ends team" can pick up on this

Sorry m8, a dev must first port it to hd2 nand before we can port it to sd. It does look nice though.
It looks nice, but check out Androidpolice's Meizu MX 4 review - it also covers disadvantages of Flyme OS... And it's IMO really bad.

Project Treble on Mate 9 Pro

Posts about Project Treble supported devices started to appear recently (even on XDA), but I only saw the Huawei Mate 9 discussed about. Does anybody know if the Pro model also supports Project Treble or not, as this could be the start of a wave of custom ROMs for us.
Its pretty much the same hardware, so i imagine there should not be much effort required to port a rom working on the regular mate 9 to the pro version. Hoping this treble business will lead to some decent AOSP builds for this device with time. Camera is identical as far as i can tell, which is good. The hardware keys on the pro version are not there on the regular mate 9, so that will have to be fixed, or you could just use the on screen navigation keys.
One of the reasons i didnt use Lineage or other AOSP roms with my Samsung S5 is the considerable degradation in camera performance on AOSP vs the stock camera app since AOSP lacks samsungs proper drivers. Hoping treble will rectifty this, but it remains to be seen how much of camera performance and software tricks they will be able to retain.
Biggest issue there is with our mate 9 is it's dual cameras. This makes custom roms for it rare, hard to produce. I'd be leery of any custom roms having the camera functionality of our stock rom.
The prop file in my Mate 9 Pro with firmware LON-L29 9.0.0.323(C636log) shows that Treble is enabled. See attached screenshot
Same result on LON-L29 8.0.0.323(C432log) Beta.

Just wondering if it would be possible to have an AOSP custom ROM with the Huawei stock camera.
I guess this would simplify things a lot.

MIUIs Plans

We Have Seen that as soon as MIUI 9 (N) was launched MI MAX... developers ported that ROM for our Kenzo....and we were able to Taste MIUI 9 with Nougat with all the features that MIUI provided with android N....
The sad part is we didn't recieve any official update for android N form Mi....And we will never get to Taste the official MIUI Nougat....
BUT****
I came across some post & there it say that MIUI is planning for Split screen and quick switch for the Mi phone which didn't recieve Nougat update.....but they won't update it to Nougat they are planning to give out this features on marshmallow...Mi has already rolled out almost all the features that were supposed to be on MIUI Nougat (the features which were showed in the presentation).
Reports say that split screen has has already rolled out(In January 2018) for China alfha testers and was expected to see the features in global developer ROM by APRIL 2018...But it still has no signs....
The Main Question That Stands Is...Will MIUI 9 Marshmallow be able to be smooth with those heavy duty features??
I have a 2GB RAM Kenzo....and MIUI 9 Marshmallow sucks the RAM like Hell I can't even run 4 apps without reloading it....but the Same Kenzo on Custom ROMs runs like a knife through a cake....
I personally have seen MIUI9 Marshmallow take upto 5-6 second to load home screen...which is disgusting....you can't expect this....
I have also tested the MIUI 9 Nougat....Epic MIUI 9 Nougat....MIUI PRO ROMs and all are not that responsive as AOSP based ROMs.....
There are a few Reasons for this
1)MIUI being a heavier Custom skin
2)Alot of bloated Google apps which can't be disabled directly (but is possible by third party shortcut marker apps)
The above stuff is all about MIUI9 Marshmallow by Mi itself....it still lags....Freezes the phone....
And now introducing 2 more features...SPLIT SCREEN & QUICK SWITCH....which are heavy duty features.....
Now I now that other phone which recieved the Nougat update are running good....but the case exists only for 3GB n up Ram's
Rather developing code based on SPLIT SCREEN & QUICK SWITCH for marshmallow roll out Nougat for Kenzo...what's more easy??
Yes now being a huge company they think in different way....40-50 % phone by Mi are running under Nougat which means rolling out Nougat for specific devices won't help them...but developing those features on Marshmallow will help as more n more wiser will get that feature based on Marshmallow as most of the phone so have Marshmallow.... Marketing Tactics
The main focus of MIUI should be to improve the performance and not to add bulky features which will eat Ram more....I know that MIUI9 is all focused on faster app opening...and being light....but did it really do that?? Kind off no....
Most of the Kenzo users have already moved to custom ROMs...as we find great stability faster app opening...more multi-tasking...the real power of Kenzo come out here....and no one is really that interested in using a OS that's 3 years old...here we are getting the latest OS 8.1 with good performance HDR+ camera hell lot of features....
Really I don't think bringing those 2 features to marshmallow ROM will help MIUI to get us back to MIUI anyways....all we wanted was to taste MIUI 9 Nougat and all the features that it had...and thanks for our lovely devs for porting ROM....and giving us such a great ROM..... though the development is slowly getting down.....
The only features that attracted me personally was FACE UNLOCK..but the way Ram management was...it didn't took a second to revert back to custom ROMs....and MIUI is planning this...
Giving SPLIT SCREEN & QUICK SWITCH on marshmallow.....rather unlock the bootloader of the the devices that has not received Nougat..and let them live their life in peace.....that's more easy then a developing ROMs...and creating a mess for your developers....let their super minds think on your upcoming UI and redesign stuff in that....
Yes it will be worth giving a try when this features come...but they won't be able to keep users over MIUI for long time because we all have already used this things and Marshmallow ??and MIUI9 suck anyways...
Comment down what do you think...

I have given up hopes of official MIUI for RN3 and ill say im more happy trying out all these powerful feature rich roms that some awesome ppl on this forum are making. Though MIUI looks fancy but the power of a stock rom is to another level. MI won't care much for older devices like ours and its better to give up miui.
