Issue with navigation audio on specific apps - Android Head-Units

Running the stock ROM on a XTRONS TE706PL
PX5, Android 8.0.0
MTCE_GS.V2.84_3
(Build date appears to be 20180504)
I've tried various offline navigation apps, and "HERE WeGo" seems to be the best, except the turn-by-turn audio does not play correctly.
The audio seems to fade in and out and get a buzzing sound part the way through.
I tried Sygic, and the audio seems to work OK - however the problem with Sygic is that it does not appear to be possible to switch out of navigation without completely quitting the application.
i.e I can't go back to the music player or the radio to change track or radio station etc, without having to re-start the route in Sygic
I've read that this could be because HERE WeGo, is not registered as a "Navigation App", however I can't see anywhere to check this.
I've looked in Settings -> Car -> Navigation and I selected HERE WeGo in the "Navigation application settings" but it didn't make any difference
I also tried changing the "Navigation sound mode" from "Mixing" to "Switch" but didn't make any difference.
Any ideas what else I can try.

[Q] Navigation that works with BT gps

Does anyone now a Navigation app that runs on Gt-I5800 and can use an external BT GPS. The thing is that although I've tried the GPS fix for the internal GPS it never works properly. From the other hand I had an external Nokia GPS from a previous mobile that I've connected with the BT GPS app and works like a charm, but it does work with Sygic or Google Maps.....
(I'm using Kyrilos v6.0 rom and I've with already tried the GPS fix)
I do not know if there are applications like that
but maybe you can configure your GPS settings with gpssetup
call *#*#3214789650#*#* to start gpssetup2
or create a shortcut in launcherpro or ADWlauncher
go to Settings ==> Fix request settings ==> session type and select tracking
then go to Settings ==> Fix request settings ==>operation mode and select standalone
then go to Settings==> parameter settings ==> positioning mode and choose option3
go back to the first menu select commands, get position, starting gps
and normally you have your position within minutes
for a bether result you can download gpsbooster and fasterfix that can help finding your position
Thanks for the reply. I've checked all the above and they were already like that, but still the GPS can't lock properly (I've also tried gpsbooster but again no luck )
Have you tried waze? I'm about 90% sure that supports external GPS, don't quote me on it though.

I think you could use this RK3066 HeadUnit
Depends on whatradio you have as you didn't tell us
Service app for RK3066 car HeadUnit family. Android 4.2 and 4.4
Features:
- Call via bluetooth from Android apps request. Best usage with True Contacts app!
- Media buttons remap from CAN/Key inputs to andorid (all custom players support)
- Direct control of media players - Media button emulation, PCradio app direct control (root required)
- Auto start music app on boot or on Phone headunit key
- Tune volume on speed (steps: 60, 100, 120 km/h)
- Background volume change (no stock or system UI)
- Safe volume level set on start/stop headunit
- Supprot of both old and new Headunit versions
- Call History widget included
- Media keys correctly sorted and handled on headunit boot-up
IF CALL DO NOT WORK: Change BT Api version in settings.
App is full open-source: https://github.com/petrows/RK3066-Headunit-service
Supports head units on Rockchip RK30SDK platform: RK3066 (Android 4.2.2 and 4.4.X)
- Klyde (KLD)
- Roadmaster (RM)
- Hui Fei (KGL)
- Microntek
- SMARTY
- TWIN
- Many other brands on RK3066 chipset
I already tried this app and i get a workaround with it and xposedmtc. With xposedmtc i overrighted the stock volume app and with rk3066 headunit, i put 22 for the safe volume. That work for get my prefered sound at start but that didnt fix my problem.
I want to get the same volume at start then when i close the radio like the stock 4.2.2 rom. I didnt found anything about it after several search. The only thing i found, is a workaround

upgrading hui-fei/klyde s/w

Hi
I have recently received the latest update from Klyde for my Car-DVD, which is still based on Android 4.4
Do the custom roms support upgrading to Android 5 (or 6?)?
Would that enable me to run Android Auto app on my unit?
The current things that I find irritating with the software:
1. the installed dialer does not support non-english keyboard for searching non-english contact names (I installed a default android dialer with the HeadUnit app)
2. when a phone call is in progress I can't change the display (i.e. switch to the nav display)
3. audio mixing of navigation (from waze) and the radio does not work properly. no matter what "mixing" value I choose, the radio is almost silenced when the navigation sounds are played
Are any of these issues addresses in the custom roms?
Is there a startup speedup with the custom roms?
thanks

Got got a new Pumpkin model. Does anything know how fast boot works?

Edit: does anyone know, not anything... can't edit title. :-/
This is the model I bought as an upgrade to my old KitKat based model.
It's a PX5 based model with 4GB/32GB octacore.
Loving it so far, but for one annoyance - the fastboot is fast indeed (a second or two), but when the unit sleeps, it apparently kills all running apps, and only re-launches the foreground app (and launcher) when it wakes up from sleep mode.
Apps that have an internal 'start on boot' option do not do so, and there is nothing in the system settings to configure startup applications.
This means apps like Blokada, a VPN-based adblocker, do not start automatically. If manually enabled, it will run until the car is turned off or back on. This is also the case if I turn off the fast boot feature. Also means that Tasker won't auto load either, or CF.Lumen, an app that changes the color temperature of the screen at night (like LiveDisplay).
Has anyone with a unit with fast boot found a method to get services to autostart, perhaps with root? I'm not sure what root method to use with this device. If I had root, I could block ads via a host file rather than using Blokada.
Note that these sorts of services are background services, not the actual launching of the apps in the foreground.
I'd love to know how the sleep mode works. I'm guessing it's a very low power standby mode. I'd like to know why it needs to stop background services and apps in order to sleep.
Just have a look at the FCC Car Launcher. Install the launcher and your problems are gone.
About the fastboot method: https://www.ubiquitous-ai.com/en/products/os/quickboot/
I don't think that the Ubiquitous solution for Quick boot is used in PX5 devices. I have not seen any indication for that.
The easier and cheaper solution is to use the Linux kernel builtin Suspend To RAM feature. During sleep the only powered devices are the SOC RAM and the MCU wakeup detection circuitry.
At resume, the SOC jumps into its RAM, which was powered all the time, and so can resume its work where it left it before suspend.
Why all vendors add system apps that kill all user background apps before entering suspend, is a very annoying fact, but the rationale is unknown.
Besides FCC Car Launcher, also the custom Hal9k ROM has options to not kill apps and even add apps to start at startup.

I looked at the FCC Car Launcher, looks like it re-starts music players, but I don't see anything about being able to start chosen background services (like my adblock VPN or Tasker or CF.Lumen), unfortunately.
The launcher I'm using, Car Launcher Agama, already restarts my music when I start the car due to powerAMP integration. It's the background apps that I want to keep alive.

Install the ROM Hal9K 3.1 - It allows you to select applications that will not be closed on sleep (called whitelist in the mod settings). It's also just generally faster with heaps of extra configuration available. I use a combination of FCC Car Launcher and Hal9K ROM and it is great
FCC does not move your background apps into a whitelist, but is able to restart your apps after reboot.
That is quite better than having them not killed.
I played around with Hal9k and the white list and I was not really happy with it.
FCC on stock ROM and Tasker is all you need.

Thank you so much for the invaluable help in creating the firmware mod for the user with forum XDA Graser_SJ !! Without his help, this mod would not have appeared!
Service firmware for devices without DSP, who mistakenly installed firmware for DSP and lost sound.
Install only to those who can not return the sound !!!Based on my LITE mod for devices without DSP with full Root access and a modified launcher.
ATTENTION: after the firmware, everything will be reset for you - the touch will become mirror and will change LEFT-RIGHT. The buttons on the panel will not work!
And maybe all the settings of the device will be reset. You need to rewrite all your settings as they are put on a piece of paper or take their photo.
After flashing, you need to configure the touch and configure the buttons again. I am enclosing the photo below where it is located. Go to Settings - Car-related settings - Setting the touchscreen and button on panel. As you configure, you need to reboot.
I want to warn you: everything that you do, you do at your own peril and risk, and you decide whether to do it or not.

I made a recovery firmware in .img, for those who do not boot the device or a complete "brick" with a normal screen resolution.
1. For those who have an sd slot in the device.
2. Who connected USB OTG inside the device on the motherboard.
The archive contains:
STM32_KC1E0112-P01-1.1.4.3.1_20200118.img - the recovery firmware itself
SDDiskTool_v1.57.cab - a program for creating a bootable sd card for those who have an sd slot in the device
DriverAssitant_v4.91.zip - drivers for connecting USB OTG
RKDevTool_Release_v2.73.zip - program for flashing via USB OTG
Read about USB OTG here (thanks to a_vtom for instructions):

No, I have Hyundai Tucson JM, and I'm using Sony rm-x4s remote control connected to KEY1 and KEY2 pins in radio.
Try connect only to Key1 and GND

Guys, this is only the first version of the firmware. I have a lot of improvements in my plans. Including the problems you described.
I ask you to excuse me in advance - I very rarely reply on the forum and in private messages. I physically run out of time.
after testing your rom, is it possible to go back to the factory one?
If so, how should it be done?
does your rom work on all radios that have px6 with stm32 mcu?
I'd be interested in this as well.

Yes, no problem, you can return to the factory firmware. Only firmware is divided into 2 versions - for devices with DSP and devices without DSP. Check out my first post on this topic. All factory firmware are here - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UzDN-qwQwwmx_3e_c_Ngtc0Sei2GempL

Thank you friend
In your rom, the dsp work on rca output?
Hello
I flashed the full rom, no dsp today. I love it! I understand its a work in progress, but I'm not going back to original firmware, sticking with Malaysk. Two issies i have is, rear camera works very poorly, looks like perhaps not enough gain. changing input modes just yields "no input". Another issue (This is an issue on orignal firmware too), status bar notifidations are too dark to read, and on dark surface.
Finally we have some modding going on with STM32 PX6! This hardware has so much potential.
Some of these issues iv started working on myself, if i make any progress, il make sure to send you.
Installing now, was hoping the notifications would be different, I as well can't read them on the factory firmware. If this goes through I'll purchase full version soon. Thanks for your work.
---------- Post added at 05:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:23 PM ----------
WHAT THE HECK, I just sent for the full version. If you get a chance to fix the notification bar (to dark to read) let me know. Thanks again.

I understand there are three types of different firmware (oh my god, this is terrible, for one device they release three different firmware )
1. For DSP
2. No DSP
3. No DSP and other type of rear camera.
Write to me in the mail (as I understand you have a problem with the rear camera?) I will give you the third type of firmware
Regarding the dark curtain of notifications - I will try to redo it later.
My device on the STM32 has now broken down (they sent me a defective one, it worked for only a month) and I need to fix it at the moment.

Hi. If I understand right, the pull down notification area background and font are still dark and not possible to change?Because this is the main reason why I want to change the firmware.
Can someone upload here a screenshot of the notification area?
