Light use endurance - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Real Life Review

Once in a while, when your significant other yells at you, you might use your phone a bit less. Rate this thread to express how the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4's battery performs under light use. A higher rating indicates that the device goes a long time when you're using the phone sparingly: no gaming or video/audio streaming, light web browsing, some calling and texts, etc.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I am using Mi Pad 4 LTE from month and I am able to share my experience with battery optimalisation I have done on this tablet and on my other devices sony xperia z3 compact (snap 801) and samsung galaxy tab 4 lte (old exinos with a7 cores). I have done the same procedures on all 3 devices .
Standby mode . Sony reports 1mA power consumption and pad 4 = 14mA and the difference is : sony has all time gsm modem enabled for be active in gsm network and pad 4 has gsm modem disabled . I charge sony sometimes every 3 days sometimes every 5 days .
The normal use of device to surf internet in samsung internet with wifi or modem enabled . The galaxy needs 230-240 mA and mi pad 4 needs 500mA . Galaxy has 4000mah battery and mi pad 4 has 6000mah and galaxy with old battery works longer !
The power consumption in mi pad 4 is very high . This parameter sets this tablet between bad devices with short time of working .

Mi pad has great battery life. Show me a single review where it says otherwise.

This what I can check by myself I do not need to find in review.

Yeah, but if your results are different from all the people doing this for a living, obviously somethings not right.

There are 3 posibilites:
- problem of pad 4 (possible because on stock is the same)
- problem of snap 660 (if - other devices not possible to optimise)
- LSpeed does not work correct with 660 and it should be replaced

[Q] Anyone use got poor Battery Life ? and cell handover ?

Hi,
Had it a week now, and the battery life is awful compared to my prior Note 2. The old phone could get through the day, no problems, but this one is flat by 6pm.
I suspect its to do with the Knox process using 10% of the processor (according to usage timelines pro), even though ive not got Knox enabled.
Also it seems to struggle to reconnect to the 3g network (three UK) after losing signal. I have to put it into airplane mode, and off again for it to re-connect to the network.
Hoping both these can be fixed with a software update, but has anyone else found these issues, especially people coming from a note 2
thanks
George
On a poor signal mine is the same, my note 2 has a signal, when my note 3 doesn't. Also battery seems better on my note 2, on day 5 will see how a few more cycles of charge pan out.

I blame Exynos. The US and JPN versions will be much better.
Just turn off all the useless gimmicks such as air gesture and smart xx features and give it a few days before judging. I'm on fifth day with the phone and its temperature and battery life is better than it was on first day.
To give you an idea, that's my battery usage for today and I'm still at 43%. Didn't even start at 100% but 92%. Though I've been on wifi all day with good signal, not on data connection, so that helped with low battery consumption.

Samsung has the worst antennas anyway. where i am living i had 0 to 1 bar at my note 2. with note 3 it improved a little bit. it displays the same amount of bars but at least i can make phone calls with no problems.
At the same area i testet the new Xperia z1 and it has almost all the time 3 and more bars...what the hell samsung...not everybody is living in an signal oversaturated city....
After 5 days, battery life is impressive and improving (i think)

San Francisco doesn't have a saturation of signal?
Same thing again and again.
Buy a top notch mobile and turn off all features that make it top of the line to make the battery last one day.
Really poor battery life on mine.

I think it's a cell handover problem
I'm not sure the antenna itself is weak...I've pulled over 10 megs on 3g in a two bar situation. However it seems over keen to switch cells . I have a tool that logs which cell you are on and even when I'm stationary it keeps swapping cells
Also the number of bars on different brands cannot be meaningfully compared since some companies stretch the truth about signal strength by not having a linear scale *cough apple
Looks like the poor handover was the sim card... went into three store and they said it probably was .
I was very sceptical since it worked fine on my note 2 but it does seem to have fixed it

Mines got better too
tbh its got better after a week of cycling.
Its still annoying as anything that knox is munching 7-15% of cpu power constantly and I dont even use it ... however its not as bad as it seems, since it seems its the CPU idling at 300MHz so in fact its less than a 3rd of the apparent figure...

You may try to
- turn Google Now! off entirely, voice search and answers still work just not the cards or some app controls (but there's S-voice for that)
- switch searching for wifi networks off
- I do not recommend turning wifi off during deep sleep, it causes more wakes and drainage on my Nex4
- use the S alternatives of as many Google apps as possible
- look around Maps to see if some sort of location sharing is ticked in, allow the only apps to access location data that you really need
- look around Know security, maybe it is part of the drainage
- optionally: try out AppOps to manage individual permissons per apps, I don't know if this works with the Note 3 though

[Q] N9005XXUFNF4 my battery drain is worse.(SORRY didn't see no Q)

Hi all.
This phone is becoming a joke, it seems that with every update Google or Samsung are crippling this phone.
N9005XXUFNF4 was supposed to improve battery life on the Note 3, so why is my battery drain worse?
I bought the Note 3 to do away with netbooks and tablets, but now I am being forced to use them again.
When I use the internet, browsing on the Note 3 itself, my battery can lose 50% in under 30 minutes. I am then forced to switch off data out of fear that the phone will not last the day.
However, when I tether a notebook or a tablet to the Note 3, it will give me about 8 hours of internet usage before it needs charging.
So what is the point of the Note 3 now? It is quickly becoming just an expensive modem.
Mine is worse too but not as yours. I want some solution.

Seems like you guys have got faulty hardware or something, my note 3 is soon a year old and it's doing just fine in the battery department. Try resetting your notes completely or try different roms if you are into flashing.

I am not as good as i was in ND4, but it defo behaves better then any NEx and NFx. Just hit 2 days with 3 hours screen time, i am very fine with that.
Simply solution. Flash skyhigh kernel and U will have 10 hours screen on time. Or 3 days normal usage. .
I'm always doing stuff on internet. Mobiledata/WiFi I think thats why it drains faster.

Faulty hardware? No. Faulty update or flash, most likely.
By using simple tools to monitor your battery usage, you could trace and eliminate problems. I use BetterBatteryStats.

No.
1. KK ruined battery life so you can't get over 6 hours of screen on in 4.4.2 unlike 4.3.
2. Different devices have different quality chips. You can't guarantee same results.
3. Show me your 10 hours screen on time with no underclocking or undervolting, or even a screen cap of 3 days of normal usage (Facebook, Whatsapp, Tapatalk)

I suggest AuroraKernel v11R2 , i can simply go thru a day with my data and wifi on
Thanks everyone.
Unfortunately this phone has not improved. I can tether all day, but if I use the phone for what it was designed for, i.e, browsing internally it drains quicker than my bath.
I now have the most expensive phablet acting as a modem for other tablets, this really defeats the whole point of buying this phone.
I have been with Samsung since the GS3, but now my next phone will not be another Samsung.

Note 2 owner willing to upgrade to Edge

Hello everyone .
I am currently a Note 2 owner and I skipped upgrading to note 3 as it did not seem such a big upgrade to me plus all the goods <software> was brought to me by the devs of the Eteam . Was willing to upgrade to Note 4 but then Edge came along and now thinking of getting one of these frontier devices.
The problem that I see from the forum is the battery life in this device , I can consider myself a power user and I do get in average of 4 to 5 hours of screen time on the 2 year old Note 2, anyone coming from Note 2 can shed some light regarding this issue as I am so used to have more than just 4 hours of screen time and that is a compromise I am not willing to make since I consider this am upgrade , is Edge worth or better get a Note 4 ?
Thank you in advance.

Here's the thing, note edge/note 4 has double the screen resolution as your note 2, and the edge has a battery 100mah less than the n2. Granted the processor can give you plenty of standby time, but screen on time won't be as good as you currently have it. You can always carry a spare battery, since it's a Samsung.

I thought the new screens are more power efficient <25 %> compare to the 2 year old tech on the Note 2.
So with a Note 4 would be also the same issue you say ?

I had the Note 2 and it was not exactly a stellar performer in SOT from what I recall. You won't notice much difference going to the Note4 or Edge in that regard. Maybe a slight improvement. But the screen quality and performance will more than make up for it. Plus the new fast-charging capabilities are pretty effective.

You can get the Ultra power saver mode too in custom roms but I am asking in identical conditions, which of the 2 has longer screen time , it makes no sense to me to use a 1000 usd device in black and white just bcs of the battery .

You can't compare the note 2 and note 4 or Edge as apples to apples. The processor alone on the Note 4 is more efficient. And if you get the T-Mobile variant you'll get root and can do greater control of things that eat battery.
But even the stock versions allow you to at least disable most of the bloat or apps you won't use thereby stretching the battery life out.
I have both the note 4 and note edge and get at least a full day on them. I consider myself an average user doing primarily email, music, web and some gaming (temple run 2 is my addiction) and I get at least 4 hours of screen time with about 25-30% battery left by the time I go to bed.
I picked up the Edge after having a Note 2 from release. I see a massive battery life difference for the better. I had replaced the battery in my Note 2 twice, and in it's prime with Ditto Note flashed, I was pulling almost a full day if not a full day of heavy use. Since picking up the note, I've been getting home from work with atleast 30% left. Actually, I don't think I've had a low battery notification since I picked it up. Looking forward to rooting, but out of the box...I'm impressed Samsung.
OMG N2 to N-edge
YOU WILL LOVE IT, I cant put it down. The phone drinks battery but purchased 2 extra batteries with portable charger. When you buy the phone samsung gives you 50% off all accessories. Well worth it, I loved the N2 and the N3 wasn't enough to upgrade off contract. N-Edge AWESOME:laugh::laugh::laugh::silly::silly::silly::victory::victory::victory:
And as an added bonus, the edge has 'adaptive charging' which allows you to go from 0%-50% in 30 minutes. That combined with 'quick charge 2.0' and swappable batteries, you should be good to go.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42303308&postcount=1612
This was SOT of my Note 2 when battery was new.
More than 9 hours on one charge.
When I hear you guys telling that I need to carry a spare battery with me or that the supercharger does 50 % in 30 min , I simply get scared.
Of course I will root and debloat the device but .............
Still sitting on a fence about getting this awesome device or not.
Thank you all for the feedback.
Maybe someone will come out with an extended battery that will last all day? At least I hope they do.

Same situation. Same comments. I'm on the att varient. I heavily modified my note 2 and frankly I'm OK with no root for now. Very happy with my upgrade.

You'll receive a 50% off coupon code once you register your device with Samsung. It's a one-time use only... Hope that helps!
My Note 3 has about 15% better battery stats than my Note 2. The Note 4 from what I can tell is about the same as my 3 but that's with the higher res screen. My guess is that the Edge will be about the same as the 2, at least that's what I'm expecting anyway.
Now only those with an edge could attest to this but if you use your edge screen wisely to skip all the full screen on 10 sec checks of whatever wouldn't that save bat in the long run. If you can quickly edge through your notification without turning the whole thing on that should save you lots by the end of the day.

LG G Watch i Nexus 4

Somehow I WILL -whether Up decently exercised the nexus 4 ?
-whether interface joke in Angielski ?
- AND HOW WILL to the battery will lose a lot on performance How will I use g Watcha now holds 2.5 DAY
Thanks for your help and best regards
sorry my english
Pretty hard to understand but android wear is compatible to any android device I believe 4.2 and higher. I have a samsung gear live and have no issues
I m using lg g watch with my nexus 4, it is working perfectly, yup battery life gets decreased due to bluetooth connectivity all the time sending and recievibg data to and from watch, but its only like a percent more for an hour

What do you mean by Joke?
Anyway the LG G Watch will work with every phone that have Android 4.3+ and bluetooth 4.0.
Open this link in your phone browser http://g.co/WearCheck, it will check the compatibility.
The bluetooth 4.0 bring low energy connection so it will decrease phone battery life but just a little.
The LG G Watch don't have enough battery for 2 days, you must charge every night. (or day if you work at night).

Battery mi mix 3 5g

Hello. The specifications of my mix 3 5g came out and apparently it is the same as the mix 3 except for the capacity of the battery and the processor. My question is this: since the two phones are identical in design, will it be possible to put the battery of mi mix 3 5g in mi mix 3?

All that hassle to get an extra 30 mins battery life.
Unless you live in a cave you could just plug it into a power socket, use a battery bank, or use phone less
I just got a mi mix 3 coming from a mi 8 and battery life so far (4 days of owning it) is not as good as the mi 8, but the wireless charging makes up for it by a long shot. Wireless charger in the car, on my work desk, at home etc it's so fast to just top it up and the xiaomi 20W charger is so cheap I find it a well worth trade off to get rid of the notch.
I just wish there was more we could do with the slide. I have it to open my transit app when opening and would love for it to close it and go back to last app when closing the slide, but with time I guess.

Are you just concerned about the battery life for daily use? The simplest way to prolong your battery over a day is to rid yourself of bloat and eliminate apps for things you can simply load up in your web browser. Removing Facebook alone will add more minutes to your battery usage per day than swapping out the battery for the larger one, which also won't fit in the Mi Mix 3.

Hi everyone,
I thought I am the only one that wants to steal the battery from mi mix 3 5G and fit into my phone.
the battery isn't great, and if I can replace the battery with a large capacity I will..
it's annoying they removed the wireless charging feature from the 5G version.
if they would made a 4000 mAh battery, everyone was happy.
If someone succeed, please let me know.
All the best!
Maybe a late reply, I did find a 4300mAh battery for the mi mix 3 but with the max charging voltage of 4.4 instead of 4.45 as it is in the 5g model I will try it however in thr 5g model and see how it goes, I will update here if it works and post a link to it.
Update: it does not work the phone will not boot only show the mix logo for a second or two and then turn off
