Usb-C adapter won't enable Dex Mode - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Accessories

Hi all, I've tested an usb-c adapter, to get Dex mode without pay 140€ in my country. But with this adapter I can't trigger Dex mode on setting, I can only get screen mirror, even with the charger.
Is there a trick to bypass, this kind of detection?
I think, like Galaxy s8 there is something that trigger this feature when Dex/Compatible adapters, are connected.

you will need USB-C to HDMI+2 USB3.0 with Power delivery port... without power delivery port it will just mirror your phone.. if you have one.. connect power to the adapter.. that should in theory trigger the dex mode

On the last image, near the ethernet port there is the usb-c port to charge my device, i've used my original charger, s8 charger and macbook charger (the usb-c one), but nothing, also i can't see the option to change mirror to dex in settings...

Same thing here!
I believed that my Hub doens't support quick charge or something similar, just normal "slow" charge even when it's connected to original charger, and for this it does not trigger the dex mode only mirror.

I got a USB-C hub CB-C55 from AUKEY and was not happy trying to have DeX =(
Maybe it's because it does not have fast charge
Let me try using a most powerful charger...
No. Nothing happened. =/

Samsung DeX with S8/S9/Note8 only works with a DeX Station.
Only the Note9 works with a normal USB-C to HDMI cable

My S9+ does it just fine with one of the dex capable USB c hubs.

Is there any Type C to HDMI Hub apart from Official Dex Pad which anyone found working for Dex mode?
Please suggest so that it will be really helpful to others before buying.
Thank you.

Look for something called "Melopow M002" on ebay. Cheap usb-c hub that will enable DeX mode, at least works for my S8+.

I've bought this one:

and it does not work too (S9+). I've tried different chargers and two different displays.

Just gonna use a HDMI hub

You could install android 9 and it will work with standard usb c - HDMI cable I do this all the time and works great!

I've tried three different unpowered cables and they only mirror the phone. Seems it still does not trigger Dex unless it's a powered hub.
It worked in the leaked early beta but not with the two latest official builds (CRLI and CRLO).
Linux on Galaxy beta does not work as intended either on S9+. Can download Ubuntu but throws errors after unpacking.

So what you are saying is after you update your S9 Plus to latest official Pie build, DeX mode isn't working with non official convertors, such as type-c to hdmi adapter ?

OTG Working on 2015 Fire (kffowi/ford)

What is otg?
USB On-The-Go, often abbreviated to USB OTG or just OTG, is a specification first used in late 2001 that allows USB devices, such as digital audio players or mobile phones, to act as a host, allowing other USB devices, such as USB flash drives, digital cameras, mice, or keyboards, to be attached to them.

Required: OTG Cable
Amazon Link: Micro-USB 3.0 OTG Adapter
Amazon Link: USB 2.0 OTG Cable
These are just some examples of cables available, there maybe better, or cheaper options
What is a OTG cable
When attached to a PC, an OTG device requires a cable which has a USB Standard-A plug on one end and a Micro-B plug on the other end. In order to attach a peripheral to an OTG device, the peripheral either needs a cable ending in a Micro-A plug, which is inserted into the OTG device's Micro-AB receptacle, or the OTG device itself needs an adapter cable with a Micro-A plug on one end and a Standard-A receptacle on the other. The adapter cable enables any standard USB peripheral to be attached to an OTG device. Attaching two OTG devices together requires either a cable with a Micro-B plug at one end and a Micro-A plug at the other, or can be achieved using a combination of the PC cable and adapter cable.

Using Solid Explorer there's no such issue
OTG worked perfectly on 5.1.1 (rooted) using this drive. Same with a generic (cheap) OTG dongle similar to this. Plug-n-play.

An app is needed as far as I know. I haven't actually used it for anything, was just testing what works. Tested with the "UsbWebCamera" app. There are also apps that will stream the usb webcam from your Fire to another device. I could think of a couple nice uses for a usb webcam. Cheap car rear view camera, constantly recording car dash cam (record to a SanDisk high endurance video monitoring microSD). Personally I wouldn't drive without a dash cam. Too many crazy drivers who will swear they weren't texting while they ran right into you.

OTG adapters?

I have watched a few unboxings on Youtube. I see that the S8 and S8+ come with two USB-C adapters, one from micro USB and the other from full USB. None of them have mentioned whether they are OTG compatible. Does anyone know whether either or both support OTG?

in the unboxing i've seen, there at 2 include connectors: a micro usb to usb-c and a fullsize usb-a to usb-c. the picture on page 12 refers to using the included cable and the small adapter to charge the phone (seems odd....). On page 18 there's a diagram showing the other one in use for for device to device data transfer in conjunction with the other phone's usb cable
The micro-usb to usb-c is obviously not USB OTG compatible.
The larger usb-c to usb-a is OTG compatible (and used for smartswitch as well).
what above says. the message is specific to the Micro USB connector and not any other OTG cables.

I plugged USB stick into all my other Samsung phones and it always work, not sure why it wouldn't work on S8, with one exception: phone doesn't recognize NTFS out of the box, but you can download driver and then it works with NTFS as well. But to be honest Android file access is a nightmare IMO, so much simpler to plug the phone into computer and do whatever from Windows, but again be careful, if you move files around, they're not updating right away and you may get confused as to where the files are.

Fast Charging via USB-C to Mac?

Hi there
I used to be able to get fast charging when connecting my S6 to my MacBook via USB.
Now I connected my new S8 to my MacBook Pro via USB cable (+ USB-C adapter) and it's charging painfully slow.
Is the S8 no longer able to get fast charging when connected to the laptop?
Is there any other issue like maybe the USB-C adapter/ converter? I tried both the Samsung USB-C adapter and Apple's with the Samsung charging cable but no fast charging. Would I need to get a real USB-C cable (both ends)? Or is it just not possible anymore at all connected to a laptop?
Thanks

Because most people use the USB cables for data transfer as well, and most computers contain a USB A legacy port and no USB C.

Samsung Dex not connecting to monitor

Hi, i have a tab s6lite with Oneui 3.1 and android 11

Hi, I think you have already found the answer, but if anybody else would be looking for it, the answer is simple: unfortunately, Tab S6 lite has only USB 2.0 through the type-C connector, not USB 3.x, as the other S tablets do and as everybody would expect...
It's also unfortunate, that no review is mentioning this...

What model of USB-C hub are you using? When you plug it in, does it mirror to the monitor? If it doesn't, it's likely the hub, not the tablet. Not all of them are compatible with DeX.
Update: After doing some more research, it seems the Tab S6 Lite does not support Mobile HD Link (MHL). You can screen mirror via wireless (ChromeCast or MirrorCast), but DeX won't work.
Since it is hardware level, a custom ROM will not work.

Absolutely not true. The Tab S6 Lite is USB 3.x compatible. It is because Samsung didn't include MHL on its Sx Lite line of tablets.

Well, I expect the Samsung documentation doesn't lie too much: https://www.samsung.com/uk/tablets/galaxy-tab-s/galaxy-tab-s6-lite-blue-128gb-lte-sm-p615nzbebtu.
I also tested the USB speed, which is roughly about 30 MB/s, thus a bit above half of the theoretical limit of USB 2.0. It does not mean the port is not 3.x compatible (= possible to connect to USB 3.x ports...). However, it's really only USB 2.0, like on many cheap phones with type-C connector. And of course, as you have mentioned, MHL was not implemented in S6 lite's USB 2.0 port. If it would be USB 3.x, then it shall have (typically) HDMI-Alternate mode (it is true that there's no standard to this and it can support either HDMI or MHL or DisplayPort or ThunderBolt or neither of these ). And when the manufacturer would think about including MHL in USB 2.0 type-C port, then it makes technically better sense to go with USB 3.2 directly (as it uses the same number of wires and MHL or HDMI would need more hardware anyway and together it will bring more customers )... So that's why mentioning the USB 2.0 in datasheet makes sense and explains quite a lot (without searching for MHL implementation...).
Thanks for the correction. USB 2 is capable of screen mirroring. It needs MHL though.

there's some cables that use screencast over wire sounds a bit strange but it works relatively good, better than cast itself look at this:
