Oreo and screen sharpness - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Did LG fix the screen oversharpening with Oreo update?
With Nougat, it was definitely there (LG started doing it since LG G3), you could notice some graininess, especially on some of the default wallpapers, and also some halos around letters for text on a non-white background.

I did not notice any changes in the display when I updated to Oreo. Imo it's always looked great.

yes, in Oreo i did notice oversharpness in some things, the worse is the camera, wich is more notorious, but is LG calibration because if i put the photos on my PC and see it there's nothing wrong with them and all looks fine.
between Nougat on Oreo theres a little diference only at that level, all the rest remain the same.

Latest CM13 = Camera not working (black screen)

Hi guys I've got a A2003 which I love and recently got CM13 from the latest MM OOS (I think it was 3.0.2)
I'm big fan of CM13 but since the upgrade the camera app isn't working. Every time I launch the app, the screen is black, the camera controls do appear on the screen but they are unresponsive and after a while the app crashes.
Can you please through in any ideas you have, because I really need the camera to take shots of my receipts for expense reporting and stuff like that. I would hate to go back to OOS for something like that.

Camera Problems after Nougat Upgrade

Hi,
Upgraded to Nougat via OTA Sideload.
Works really well, except that all my pictures taken with my main camera are much too dark.
I also tried the Open Camera App, with the same results. Even if I turn the intensity up, it looks good in the screen, but as soon as the picture is taken, it is too dark again.
Anyone experienced similar things after upgrading to Nougat?

Left Third of Screen Flickers On Gray Image

Hey all.
So I got my MXP about a month ago, as my faithful Nexus 6 has long been deteriorating (#RIPshamu), and I wanted to try something a little different. I love the device and have almost gotten it tweaked and set up just the way I like it. However, I'm currently facing an issue that I can't seem to fix.
When I have a dark gray image on screen, such as the dimming when you pull down the notification bar over a white screen, the left side of my screen flickers rapidly from dark to normal, as if changing brightness. It is most noticeable on higher brightness settings, but plenty present enough on lower ones anyhow. I have made sure that no odd display tweaks in GravityBox are interfering with system presets, and I can't figure out what might be causing this.
I'm hoping it is software-related; I bought the device off-contract and without warranty, as I do with all my handsets, but if the problem is with hardware I should be able to fix it on my own so long as I know what part is causing the issue.
I'm running TruPureXMM with FrankenClark kernel. (systemless SU, magisk/systemless-xposed if any of that matters to you). Can provide logs upon request, but things seem normal to me at first glance.
Anyone else experienced this or have a fix?
I too am running TruPure and Frankenclark. I've been having a similar issue with the display, except it's the bottom half of the screen that is dimmed. I've also noticed that the 'dimming' takes on vertical lines of color depending on what the screen is displaying. The 'dimming' has consistently been transparent for me.
I originally thought that it may have started because I changed some settings using kernel adiutor, however changing those settings back did not fix the issue. I've yet to try returning to stock. I've also noticed the same display issue on boot up and in TWRP, which suggests a hardware problem, not a software one.
Some research online suggests that there is a known display bug with the Moto pure, and that the temporary fix is to reboot, but that doesn't solve the problem for me.
I think I'll try reverting to stock first, and if that is unsuccessful, then I'll try to reseat the display connector.

[Q] [Ze552kl] Does Nougat have lags/stutters throughout UI ?

Just bought a Ze552kl off Amazon for a pretty sweet price of ₹16,725 (£191.14/$256.16) couple of days ago.
Though it was running Nougat 7.0 right out of the box, there were some minor UI bugs like on pulling down the notification panel it'd sometimes get stuck and the only way out would be to get to the home screen.
An update fixed that, but scrolling lag still persisted.
To rule out hardware issues I performed touch tests and though it managed to pass, it was difficult. I had to run it multiple times because it involved user input. It requires you to trace the boundaries of four shaded areas which are quite slim.
(Factory reset didn't seem to make a difference either)
I then tried a couple of touch calibration apps which brought noticeable improvements but it's still not enough.
So did I receive a faulty set or is it some software issue ?
Are you on the latest version of the ASUS ROM? I have a slightly different model than you, but I found the initial Nougat update to be very slow and buggy. Subsequent updates seems to have fixed most issues...
I guess, yeah, because I haven't received any more updates post the latest one mentioned on their website.
I really don't have any issues with this ROM except for the not-so-great touch response. It is a bit laggy, but that's all.
EDIT: Oh, and the Firmware is WW-14.2020.1708.56

NON STOCK ROM : how bad is the battery drain with second screen in AOD mode ??

(sorry if this has already been discussed before)
I like my second screen in AOD/standby mode to read the time, notifications, battery level ...
I recently received my second $110 lg v20 h910 from aliexpress and was ready to get to play with a lineageos based ROM (I find my stock based rom a little bloated) but I read ( https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comments/agefj5/lineage_151_second_screen_not_turning_off_when/ ) that there is a MASSIVE BATTERY DRAIN on ALL the NON STOCK roms with second screen support in AOD mode when the phone is in AOD MODE ...
Could somebody please tell me how bad this battery drain is on these ROMS (lineageos 15.1 and resurrection remix with second screen support) ??? Does this make these roms unusable ??
Also it seems like development has stopped on these roms ... is that the reason why ??
(I know that there is a lineageos 16 rom with notch support for the second screen but I understand that it doesn't support AOD mode for the second screen, right ??)
Thanks folks for your lights on this subject !
Its not bad enough to make it unusable, but for me it was enough to make me have to charge twice a day instead of once. The problem is that the LG V20 has an LCD, so the whole backlight needs to be lit to be readable.
From what I get, development has stopped because the Devs are putting in all they can into Pie based roms.
Pie based roms don't support AOD, once again because of the backlight. If I understand this phone correctly (Correct me if I'm wrong, happy to learn), the backlight is split into 2 pieces, one for the second screen, and one for the rest. LG Roms used just the second screen part.
I personally love the Pie roms, dont even miss the second screen. Yeah, it was useful, but not something that made a huge difference.

Thanks a lot for your answer ! :good::good:
Then I guess I am going to try LineageOS Pie on my test phone to see if it's worth it while staying on Nougat Alpha Omega on my daily driver (On Nougat Alpha Omega I like Zacharee "mod control" to tune the battery size in the second screen, etc ... and I am not sure if this "mod control" app is working on Oreo Stock based roms ...)
