Did you update your Play Store apps in the last 2 months? Or am I missing something?

i have updated the camera app.. but still many camera features are missing that are with 2018 Motorola devices... which doesn't require additional hardware support for functioning..
i have checked in Playstore there are two Motorola camera apps which one camera app belongs to older devices another camera app belongs to Newer 2018 devices
older camera app for 2016 devices
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.cameraone
newer camera app for 2018 devices

[DISCUSSION] Android M for Bacon!

So as some of you may or may not know tomorrow is Google I/O. And like last year Google will be announcing Android M. It will also most likely release an "M Preview" for the Nexus 6 and 9. Do you guys think it would be possible to port the M Preview from the Nexus 6 to OnePlus One. Also this thread is for everything related to Android M for the OnePlus One
Do you remember situation with Lollipop? I think it will be in the same way
It may be possible, though unlikely. It's just not really worth it. Too many bugs and instability. This time around I'll be looking forward to ports for the nexus 5. As I think it won't get Dev preview
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Android M Developer Preview will be available today for Nexus phones. How long until someone makes port to Bacon, or how long until we see first ROM:? :fingers-crossed:

Here they go!
Guess it would be pretty sweet to get a little blend of a ROM with the cherry pickins from the Android M preview.
I think we will get the android m port when Google releases the sources of it.
Liking the new Google photos app, seems pretty slick and great that they detached it from Google+. Seems like they've refined Lollipop a bit and added some decent features. I've seen theres an option for dark theme built in now, maybe not as big a deal to us as we have total theme/customisation control, but the Nexus 6 users are going to appreciate that with their amoled display. Interested to see the app permission/privacy thing in a bit more detail as well. They sorted the volume control (mostly) with an expandable panel although is silent mode still missing?
Android M comes with App Permissions which is slick! Doze mode sounds cool but it doesn't seem to work with Google Play Services
If anyone is interested, the new google camera, search app and play services from the M-preview are already available on apkmirror (haven't tried them, son don't shoot me if they don't work).
Is it me, or is M just a slight update to lollipop?.. Why M and not 5.2?.. Most of the "features" are apps, not the OS.. The OS only got a few changes and is still virtually Lollipop.. I'm happy for the update, but, I had higher hopes for a full "version" jump..

I've tried them - DO NOT INSTALL !
First, you have to manually uninstall existing apps (uninstall updates, disable the built-in apps, reboot device). This allows installation of the new packages.
Second, the device will NOT boot - the new GMS triggers a crash in ProcessManager which brings down the whole system - you will probably have to re-flash the entire shebang.

Google app is working fine and Google Camera crashes on Panorama. that's all I've found atm.
So just GMS must be avoided. Also, for me apps installed just fine w/o uninstalling/rebooting
You guys should explain if these apks replace system apps or Google apps from play store

That's expected as you need a system lib to use the feature and installing google camera as a user app does not provide that.
It is clearly not possible to port this over. Our device uses heavy caf optimizations in kernel and framework (includes CM and Oxygen). Simply using the frameworks and app core from m will always result in a not booting device. We will have to wait for the source to be published.

it is NOT possible at all!
we need to wait for opensourced code from google to start working.
Calm down a bit my friends. The image had just been released, so it is a matter of time for it to be available for bacon. Be patient, the time will come and enjoy android 5.1.1 first.. Chill

i would like an android M version of Cyangonmod or maybe direct port of android M from google with a Cyangodemod recovery

Moto G3-Camera2 API not implemented!!

I bought a 2gb of ram moto g3 and i have noticed that camera2 api is not implemented so i can´t use Manual Camera, or another camera app to do raw shots, have manual controls, etc.
I´m surprised because my mother´s moto e 2014 has it.
Very dissapointed with that. The camera module is not bad at all but post-processing kills the photos.
Support for the Camera2 API usually comes down to the availability of hardware drivers for the camera module. I doubt Motorola has much say in this situation.

We have the exact same camera hardware as Nexus 6, and I believe both Moto X 2015 variants....I highly doubt it's a matter of availablity...it's FAR more likely Lenovo opted to cheap out, while last year, Moto opted for quality over revenue in almost every aspect.
Could we pester Motorola so include the API in the Marshmallow update?
Moto X 2015 variants? They've got different sensors.. 21MP vs 13MP.
I really miss the manual controls after coming from a Lumia ? Like @Kevinjs said can we pester Motorola to include the API?

You could but it would solve nothing. Literally, the only thing stopping camera2 support is proper drivers that support the api. And Motorola does not provide them.

No. It has the same sensor. It doesn't necessarily have the exact same camera module.
That's a shame! Motorola could develop compatible drivers right? We must start a petition or something. XD

No, Motorola doesn't manufacture the camera module. So they have no say in the drivers. Of course, we don't know what their contract is like with the camera hardware manufacturer, so we have no way of knowing the process of getting updated drivers from them.

Sailfish3 Sony Xperia XA2

2019-02 Sailfish X Paid Beta with Alien Dalvik / Android 8.1 support available https://blog.jolla.com/sailfish-x-beta-available-for-xa2/ (limited time offer, will upgrade later to release version for free)
2018-11 Sailfish X Free is now available https://shop.jolla.com/
Hello together,
jolla announced Sailfish3 for Xperia XA2 upcoming in Q3/2018 https://jolla.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/MWC2018_press_release_FINAL.pdf
I am really happy since I read this news but don't like to wait until Q3
For me Sailfish could be the mobile OS I really like to use since I got my hands on it years ago on the jolla phone.
Who also likes to get it?

I was using the Xperia X with Sailfish OS and it wasn't for me for daily use. So I sold my Xperia X and I bought the Xperia XA2. Hope that when Sailfish OS 3 launch, will be for daily use on the Xperia XA2.
Interesting, what was the Problem? When I used it at the beginning of jolla years ago the performance were really nice, even the Android apps were faster than on my native Android device with better hardware.
I liked the gesture handling, the full control over everything and the independence from every big company I hadn't on other devices.

It's in early stages and not public yet, I bought the XA2 and I didn't regret, so... If you would like to wait once is available, you could buy and use it with android, but if you're not sure I recommend you to wait until there is some more information about it
Are you planing to run Sailfish3 !?
I guess I have no choice.. you think XA2 vs XA2 ultra will be a big difference!? Or any other new sony phone is expected to run Sailfish?
Thanks for your reply

Just the size, that depends if you like bigger screen or smaller... And there is not much information about others phones with Sailfish, I just remember that will be a Jala phone (Bolivian from) but not yet release, for now just XA2 was announced for Sony brand

Sadly, not all features are supported (Bluetooth, fingerprint, NFC) ?
Sailfish X Free is now available https://shop.jolla.com/
Bluetooth is working, nothing found about NFC and fingerprint. Alien Dalvik \ Android app support is coming later.

Pairing with my bt-headphones (two different) works. play/pause also, but volume is not synced.
I'm interested, but not until a full release is available. I'd like to support a proper Android alternative, but there are apps that I need that would require Alien Dalvik.
Alien Dalvik is support but no way to install Gapps and get google play services anymore.

for MicroG have a look at this video

Camera 2 API Will be enabled in android Pie CONFIRMED

So i know that everybody has been requesting that camera 2 API to be enabled by default. There have been multiple requests made to Xiaomi from social (mainly twitter) to MI forums and even in Google bug tracker to request the feature to be enabled in the next OTA. Thankfully one of Google employees asked their DEV teams directly and this is the response he got :
vi.. @google.com <vi.. @google.com> #9 Nov 2, 2018 05:44AM
Please find the below comment received from our development team:
"We continually talk with various Android manufacturers about camera quality and work to improve performance and features available to camera applications across the Android ecosystem. Starting with Android Pie, newly launching devices are expected to have newer camera HAL versions, which will enable better support for camera2."
Bug tracker issuetracker.google.com/issues/117853983 link
Thanks for the effort everyone :highfive:

I fail to see where the "confirmation" for the Mi A2 is , baited and outsmarted
Let's hope the A2 is included in "newly launching devices"

Well I have the Pie update for the Mi A2, and tried to installed the lastest apk from CelsoAzevedo, and it didn't work. Keep stopping. So I guess they didn't enabled it yet.
I updated my mi max 3 to android pie . unfortunately camera 2 api is not enabled.

thinking of buying a one plus device (9 Pro)

i have a qustion, for you one plus users..
im a pixel nexus user for a long time.
no pixel 5 xl this year. (BUMBER)
question is if i root the one plus device can i get all google apps . that i grown to love all these years. ????
i dont want to custom ROM . i could live with Oxygen OS
Yes, you can. And if you also root, you can get the Google dialer framework as well
Yes, a lot of google App's are included in stock os. The one's not included can be downloaded from the playstore...
Your thread says 9Pro, but this is the 8Pro.
I did not think there was a 9pro thread yet..
I was under the impression that some Google apps, are exclusive to pixel.
Like for example
Camera app.
Phone app.
Google assistant.
Calendar.
Digital well-being.
Live transcribe and sound notifications.
Just to name a few..
The phone and the camera app really are the only things that the oneplus doesn't have. The camera app is easily installed without root. I think for the phone app to work seamlessly, you'd need to root your phone.
