[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][Oreo 8.1] CypherOS 6.0.0 [h901] 5/6/2018 - T-Mobile LG V10 Android Development

This has reached a point that those who don't depend BT calling may be able to use it as a daily driver. Just be sure to backup first!
The flashing on first boot during setup may cause issues for those with epilepsy. This is due to how to disable the second screen.
Working:
Camera! https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.7Beta2.apk is recommended with Nexus 6 HDR config in advanced settings.
Bluetooth (skips with wifi, and doesn't work in call)
NFC
Wifi -- two users have reported issues on their devices, while it works for others.
GPS
Sensors
Sound
Calls
Fingerprint
Data
WiFi tethering
Second screen disable hack
Not working and issues:
Screen glitches on first boot. Reboot and will be good after (part of hack to disable 2nd screen)
Tap to wake
Flashlight tile: install flashlight tile for kenzo in play store with root to workaround.
Slight animation glitch when switching activities due to second screen hack.
BT issues above, and doesn't work in call.
If you use camera immediately after turning on, it may not work. You must wait about a minute after powering for it to work (it will always work after).
Probably more.
TODO
BT fixes
Tap to wake
flashlight tile
get a proper 2nd screen fix like v20 working without additional issues. v20 dtsi hack doesn't work for us due to dual panel depending on partial update (most likely).
Repos (kernel is lineage-15.1 branch):
Kernel
v10-common
h901
blobs
Changes from AOSCP
Using Ruthless launcher instead of Luna
Two reverts to support substratum themes in addition to CypherOS' color manager.
Use opengapps for gapps, magisk for superuser (may have issues with modules).

Buy me a beer with Bitcoin: 1h9o1Ei9thLd8JKRz3z7PUGhX6dtfnktY

Bugs with workarounds:
Wifi doesn't connect and MAC address is all zeroes (only some users):
This is a misc partition that has MAC address hardcoded to a randomly generated address. This should work permanently on any device with the issue so long as two aren't on the same network. If anyone would like instructions on how to modify with a new MAC address, let me know.
Image https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056033811
Instructions:
Place on /sdcard
Reboot to recovery (for advanced reboot in CypherOS hold reboot button for full menu)
From twrp terminal or adb shell, run: dd if=/sdcard/misc.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc
Reboot and enjoy fixed wifi
No charging indicator (but still charges):
Boot device plugged into power or USB and the indicator will work the entire power cycle. Working on a fix but not as trivial as I'd hoped.
Bootloop bug:
I recently got hit by the infinite bootloop bug, with the only workaround of disabling the big cluster. Here's a modified TWRP that only uses the little cluster (used Eliminator74's image):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056035329
And here's a little cluster only boot image from the titan kernel (our CAF kernel has msm_thermal issues with booting with disabled big cores, needs modifications):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=674106145207491774

Just uploaded a new build with the second screen backlight bleed fixed (from v20 for liblights).

Recently bluetooth was broken, and I need to debug further. In addition, the future builds (not yet posted) will be using the "lineage-15.1" branch of the kernel. I had based the kernel for this rom off the g4 cypheros kernel, but that Titan kernel is very buggy and has far worse performance (jittery mess compared to los 14.1, realized it's kernel not rom). The kernel also had very bad data corruption issues (also documented on g4).

Man thanks for working on our near forgotten devices. I cannot test this much ATM until things get a tad more stable, but you have my attention!

Just uploaded a new build. This is using the lineage-15 kernel branch on my github, which has CAF merged in and is buttery smooth compared to the Titan kernel .
BT is now back to the g4 state at least (fixed for music, still has some issues), and incall mic is now working correctly (updated mixer_paths.xml).
For me this is a daily driver now, but I also don't need fingerprint, nfc, or some other functionality that is no doubt broken (not sure yet due to minimal testing). Enjoy!
PS: due to all lg v10 now being unlockable, I'll be doing some test builds for the other variants in the next few days..

Downloaded the rom on my H901 and flashed it. It seems to work okay, there were some screen issues during the initial setup. The rom seems nice but with some issues (like the ones mentioned above - missing second screen, etc). The screen is shifted down so I can barely see the navigation bar. If ya need some testing of some options, settings, etc - let me know.

Thank you! It looks like I messed up the init script in that build that's supposed to adjust the screen accordingly. Using adb, run the following (it's only needed once):
adb shell wm size 1440x2560

Thanks!. the screen now fits. However, I did seem to find another issue. Not sure why, but when I try to tap on the navbar buttons, only the upper half of that area works and the bottom half doesn't. Same thing happens with the statusbar. I think changing the screen size (or whatever else it could be) is making it so that the touch area is also reduced. I tried restarting it, but it still does it. Still usable but then that means i have to pay attention when I tap on the home button.

Thank you for bringing this up. I had forgotten and got used to it early on. I'll fix this today.

Just uploaded a new build. Changes:
Tweaked touch offset
Synced CypherOS to 6.0.0 (fixes navbar on first boot and removes some features)
Fixed init script to set display res (part of the second screen disable hack)
Updated Ruthless Launcher

Will give this a try with my V10 since I don't use it as a daily driver, can play around with it. Shame they couldn't get the 2nd running properly but no biggie. Also what firmware is recommended for this? Here is a pic of the current software/firmware it has
Edit: sorry about the pic, shows up portrait in my gallery but landscape on here
Update: after wiping in TWRP (v 3.0.2-0), install gave me an error 7
"E3004: This package is for device: pplus, v10,h901; this device is. "

Second screen is in the works for lineage on the v20, which we'll be able to use when it's ready ?.
Try twrp 3.2.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/development/twrp-3-2-1-h901-t3765971

Much thanks. Will give it a try and see.
Update: bingo, that did the trick ?
Probably sticking with stock rom on my v20. I rely on the Google certification for Netflix and my banking. Only have it rooted with magisk and no modules downloaded, passes safety net.

As previous poster mentioned, the navbar buttons only register the top half, bottom half has no reaction. During setup, popped up with wrong vendor image. I ignored the message, continued with setup. Lots of flashing graphical glitches and static screen. Using ruthless launcher, will test some more out

The navbar button one is weird and not as trivial as I'd hoped (but an issue with the 2nd screen hack). Regarding the glitches they shouldn't appear after the first reboot (in issues in OP).

May be all related to the whole screen aspect, when I try to swipe down the notifications bar, have to start the swipe gesture almost halfway down the status bar. With stock rom, youre usually able to start your swipe down gesture from the 2nd screen area.

It is. The touchscreen is disabled in the second screen portion of the display. The v20 style disable hack doesn't work for our panels, but they also disable the touchscreen in the second screen.
For that functionality, the best hope we have is the work into lineage second screen work being done for v20 which we'll be able to use.

Wow, this is a giant step for us H901 users!
Going to DL and test.
Am I able to revert back to my current ROM after testing this?

Yes, be sure to fully backup in TWRP prior to flashing, and then you'll be able to restore if the current issues are too great for you. You'll even be able to backup this ROM after flashing and setting up to switch between them as v10 issues are tackled.
On another note, I think I may have finally found the issue with the touchscreen offset (bottom half of navbar not working) I'll be testing today.

New build uploaded. Changes:
- Fixed touchscreen alignment. Bottom of navbar now works.
- Synced with upstream CypherOS
- Testing navbar theme settings from gerrit.

[CM7]Honeycomb/CM tablet tweaks [tt.RC2] 07.04.2011#2

Looks like there's another GB w/TabTweaks...I tried it...didn't notice too much difference...but I didn't give it a full run because Corwin's works so well for me...but I will try it out next week. (going skiing in Mammoth this weekend )
I'm going to copy paste the entire OP...hope it's legal here:
From Nook Color Thread
------------------------------------------------------
Mod has been merged to CM7
This will be in each official cm7 nightly build now starting with nightly 37 onwards... even phone users will have parts of the tweaks in their options
About
This is work-in-progress of adding highly needed tablet options to cm7 before it gets stable. Once done, it will be merged and this thread used for further development.
Most ideas are inspired or directly taken from the functionality, google added to honeycomb. Thanks to the long discussion and great feedback of this community - without you, this mod wouldnt be that good at all.
tt.RC2?
its RC2 of tablet tweaks. if i had just called it RC2, people would have asked if it includes CM7 RC4 over and over.
This SHOULD be bugfree. if it is, the sources will be merged to cm sources very soon. this thread will stay open for further development. its not yet over i want to add more stuff - but to catch the cm7 stable release, we cannot include every feature right now.

all mods can be found in settings->cm settings->tablet tweaks
List of modifications (green = new since last build)
Toggle status bar top/bottom via cm settings. Changes position on the fly when setting is toggled.
Moved carrier and power notifications to bottom for bottom bar
Created "Tablet tweaks" menu in cm-settings root to gather all tablet related options in one place
Extended power menu with home/menu/back buttons. toggable on the fly via cm settings
Custom volume-long-press events (home/back/menu/call/end call/search/start-stop-music/next track/prev track/longpress home)
Added same options for both-volume-buttons press and long-press
Fixed status bar xml, so soft buttons now appear as big as the .png file is.
Solved issue about soft buttons not clickable. Their size is now determined smart by the real size of the buttons
Added option to move soft-buttons left or right
Added submenu to choose which soft buttons to display.
Added Quick-Notification-Area-Soft-Button - instantly opens/closes notification area since swiping it open is a long way on tablets
Added a Dead-Zone option, so the middle of the status bar is not clickable. Happend a lot before people click it when trying to hit space
New graphics from Drakknar in extended power menu - thanks!
Added option to toggle extended power items seperatly
Added option to reverse power button behavior (switch short-press with long-press action)
Cleaned up the options and created new submenu
complelty rewrote volume button handling to handle all our new demands
integrated Drakknars great new design and wrote code for it
lotsa tiny fixes / bugfixes
Added option to disable/override fullscreen
Added option to disable lockscreen
Disabled the animated text for ongoing notifications when softbuttons enabled. this "ticker" did hide the soft buttons for a short while
Used same status bar size for nook color than for vega now. buttons should be bigger and not stretched this way. awaiting complaints about status bar too big
added hdpi icons for resized statusbar via overlay for vega and encore this way, status bar items dont look blury anymore
added search button to list of soft-buttons - its off by default
added long-press to home, back and search soft-button
extended fullscreen handling: when a fullscreen app is running, an additional
hide-softbutton is displayed. once pressed, the app gets real fullscreen
added option to choose unhide button for fullscreen
improved hide-button handling for special situation, like app-starting-app (i.e. astro file mananger starting movie player, which does fullscreen request) and more
Bugfix release #1
Bugfix release #2 (aka tt.RC1) removed volume remapping for cm7stable, because source of too many possible bugs considering all the uses of volume buttons + lockscreen disable + reverse
code cleanup - moved most stuff to Cm classes (CmSystem, CmPhoneWindowManager, CmStatusBarView, CmButtonTracker) - am satisfied with the code now
improved fullscreen overriding in Window class. not only setFlags, but also setAttributes is intercepted now
modified stock terminal emulator, so it doesnt crash the system anymore, when disable-fullscreen is selected
further improved fullscreen handling after all feedback i got. RC2 and probably merge ready code
Where is the volume remapping?
Its disabled for cm7 stable release. it will be re-enabled in cm71 nightlies. The reason is simple: its a very BIG source of possible bugs. we got volume buttons to silence phone calls, to control mp3's when screen is off, we got lockscreen disabling and we got reverse behavior of volume buttons - this is toooo much in the short time left until cm7 stable - i dont wanna be the dude who is responsible for an unstable release.
Tips
to use back long-press, go to settings->applications->development->stop-app-via-long-press
to use search long-press go to settings->cm settings->input->search-key-behavior
Nook only: If Bluetooth does not turn on, power off the nook color and turn it back on. Do not select reboot from the power menu. This is not connected to my modifications, but a often discovered cm problem on nook color. Thanks to KitF for this hint.
A better task manager? install free "task switcher" from market. on next home click, select adw as usual as standard home action. go to settings->cm settings->input->long-press home settings - select use custom application. as application, select task switcher. if you long press home now, you get a nice task switcher with recent apps instead of the build in solution.
Nook only: Have to enable wifi on each boot? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1310
bugs to fix
all bugs should be fixed with RC2 - details at http://kan.gd/3vb
List of known, unfriendly apps
Note: these apps break google's API in one or another way, and so are not compatible with our fullscreen handling. hopes are, they get fixed for honeycomb, and then work here, too
Clock and calendar popups: Handle fullscreen theirself - and fail!
Kindle App: Handles fullscreen itself without request - and fails!
pocket legends: does not resize when hide status bar is executed
quick office / quick office HD: overrides fullscreen handling - does it itself and fails.
cnn news app - also handles fullscreen "its own way" and fails - hides statusbar in any way
power amp - has problems with bottom status bar
Whats next?
hopefully merging this night.
Disclaimer
I am not a cook. I am a cyanogenmod dev and member of teamdouche. i dont intend to build roms, once this project is merged to cm-sources. i only do this openly for two reasons: for one, i think, feedback improves code quality. Second, its not much time until cm7stable - i need as many testers as i can get so this will get bugfree.
Credits
Thanks to Drakknar, who did all the graphics involved. Again, he did great work. I love team-working with him. We already did the new lockscreens.
Thanks to Samuel Halff <[email protected]>, who not only inspired all this, but also did a rough first version of bottom status bar. Without his initial work on the idea and on the CM-Crew (telling us, this is absolutly needed), this patch wouldnt exist.
Thanks to the Nook Color community, for mental support, feedback and the help on getting a tablet for me. Without it, i couldnt do this at all.

This project has been merged in to CM now and is part of nightly build 37.
I just flashed this over a nightly and everything seems to work except the Market won't open. It flashes up for a second and then closes automatically with no error or force close message. Anyone else experience this?

You probably have to reload gapps and start over...it happened to me when I went between this and Corwin's
Been using this about 24 hours and Gtablet really performs well with this ROM. Also just flashed my Nook Color with nightly 37 and it seems to be good too. Been using this ROM on my Nook for about 4 days and really loving it, especially the bottom notification bar with soft buttons.
Does anyone know if Pershoot's kernel could or should be used with this CM7 ROM? Would it improve performance and/or other things??

ive had great luck... havnt had a single complaint.
So all I have to do is install the rom from the gtab link... or is this in addition to something?
Also pqrs, what wifi widget is that?
How did you flash this? Did you do all the wiping data, cache, dalvik cache,,,then install like normal and then the gapps? I did that and it is a great rom but noticed my tab would shut off when it sleep for a few mins and i had to reboot??

Working so far...
I have the latest build running with Clemsyn's kernel 9 (I hate dealing with loadable kernel modules). The tablet is running real nice right now.
The only way I got this on my gTab was to nvflash back to original, blowing away CWM in the process, reload CWM, use Calkulin's format to clear away the nasty Tap'nTap stuff, then load the ROM, reboot, load the kernel (clearing cache and Davlik cache), reboot, the finally flash GAPPS to it.
I don't know enough to tell you why I had to do this. I was coming from Vegan5.1.1 originally and no GB ROM would flash properly (got stuck at Android screen - always, with AOSP Vanilla, G-Harmony 2.2, and this CM nightly) until I hit upon the sequence above.
Everything seems to be working so far... the minor bumps (like GAPPS installing everything but GMail) have cleared after reboots.
So no weird reboots or wifi problems?

i came from vegan 7 so maybe it was an easy transition? i didnt have any of the trouble flashing that as others have... i just did the normal wiping and it worked great. gingerbread roms havnt been any different for me to flash?
the wifi widget is called wifi signal widget. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cls.wificls&feature=search_result
my online market even works, i can send apps to my tablet with this rom! thats a bonus to me...
Murdock's work has been merged in and now in the CM7 nightlies
There is a minor bug with the cyanogenmod website, however. If you navigate to the standard download locations, you won't see anything available. The url has the name viewsonic instead of the device codename harmony. Click on harmony on the left side list and you'll find the gTab CM7 nightly build.
I have not been having any issues, although some people have reported that there are issues with sdcard mounting and some FCs if they change the theme. I've kept the theme stock.
My only complaint is a bug that seems to be in CM7 at the moment where when waking up from sleep you need to start the WiFi again manually. Also, I'm not sure how to get a tun.ko module for this build.
wifi doesn't work... at all. it connects, but nothing works. flashed twice after full wipes, nothing. doesn't make much sense to me... has ANYONE had this happen? i went back to vegan 5.11 and poof -- no more issues.
Is hardware acceleration for Flash enabled on this ROM?
I came over from the Nook (Encore) not so long ago and only software-based rendering was possible there, so I am wondering is thing are better on the Harmony front.
Been running this for about 5 days. Best rom for me so far. Loaded pershoots kernel and cifs module. Perfect.

PIE Inhibiting Bottom of Screen

I flashed PAC onto my Galaxy Note 10.1 just a few days ago when I ran across the PIE section in the settings, as I started toying with it I fell in love with how the nav bar was no longer hanging around the bottom all of the time, and I certainly liked PIE's interface better. However, ever since I started using the bottom 1/2 inch (interestingly about the size of the nav bar) hasn't been responsive to any touch input other than PIE. For example, if I was typing something, only the top of the spacebar would recognize a touch as a space, but the other, bottommost part would still operate if I swiped up to reveal PIE.
Is anyone aware of a fix to this problem, or is it just a tradeoff of having PIE, and this is just the way it is?
--John Galt from my GT-N8013
You can disable pie from the settings menu. You should also consider upgrading to 4.4 as JB is no longer receiving updates.
Well I know that I can disable PIE, but I want to know if the bottom of the screen not being functional is just something I have to deal with or if there is something that I can do about it.
I'm not aware of a 4.4 update for PAC for my device. I'm willing to try a nightly release, but I'm not sure how to tell what version a ROM is from the name of the .zip.
For example, what version is: pac_n8013-nightly-20140122.zip ? I can't anything except for "pac", "n8013" (my model no.), "nightly", and "2014".
The "0122" I'm not sure of.

You can move the pie trigger to the side of the screen to see if you get the full touch screen back...
0122 is the date of the nightly build. Up to 0128 is 4.3 and from 0303 will be PAC-4.4

Thank you for the clarification. I could be missing something, but there are no ROMs that have any release after 0128 (which I have now) for my device.
Seems like I'll have to wait for an update to roll around, but until then I'll keep playing with the settings and see if perhaps I have something not set properly.

Hybrid Properties
As I was thinking about the correlation between this problem and the nav bar, I realized that the nav bar was likely still active, but not visible because I clicked on the PIE fullscreen button in the quick settings. So I went to Hybrid Properties, clicked on interface, and set the "Nav. bar" slider to 0%, and clicked Apply. When that didn't work, I went back to that screen and found that the Nav. bar slider was all the way back at 100%. I've tried several times to get this to work, including adjusting the "Size" slider, clicking "Tablet UI" in the Launch screen and applying that, but nothing has stopped that slider from returning to it's default setting. Anyone know why this might be?

I am using RR (cm13) since months, and it runs really great, but I am also looking to try a debloated stock imperium soon ?
Any comparisations are welcome.

I used imperium rom since I bought my LG g4... Some day ago I switched to cm13... Except some bugs like the switch 3g/lte that doesn't work automatically and the bug with encryption cm13 is more battery friendly and smoother then the imperium with the same application installed.

What future settings you get on cm expect the smooth, regarding a stock based rom can you be more detailed
These are my experiences based on months of G4 (H815) use with both stock-based (Imperium and Genisys) and CM13.
Stock-Based ROM:
- Amazing camera, especially if you can properly use manual mode
- Good audio quality
- Still has more bloatware than needed (even the best ones like Imperium)
- Slower security patches
CM13:
- Noticeably smoother and lighter
- More battery
- Camera is still very good but you lose manual mode
- Very fast security updates (like google nexus)
- Will soon be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat
- Zero bloatware
- Audio quality is slightly lower
Hope this will help you!
Ps: both stock based and CM13 right now are 100% stable, if you hear people having issue they either 1) Haven't clean flashed or 2) they don't have H815

I'm looking for a OS "upgrade" too, but I'm aware of losing camera features... With CM can you still shoot raw?

With some apps yes
This is the wrong forum/place for this topic, but I'll throw my 2 cents out there as well. Everyone's phone is different, so I will try to simply point out software only differences. Also not to try and repeat what "marn3us" stated above. Pretty sure H815 or H811 don't matter, not with the comparison below.
For me, I really like the following
STOCK:
-In call floating pop up. Simply best feature I know, have not seen it on anything else really. While other end is ringing or talking, you can multi task and almost instantly get back to the call when they pick up or you're done doing other things. Sure w.out that floating bubble, one could pull down the notif panel but I personally find the bubble a bit more convenient (esp how you can move it around).
-VoLTE. I have LTE everywhere I live, so I like to take advantage of that. Also WifiCalling if I need it
-Lockscreen. I love how it works. If I have my phone in my pocket and somehow the screen gets turned on while I am trying to pull it out, if I accidentally tap a notification it does not automatically open. Stock lockscreen requires one tap of notif + full swipe then it will open that notif app. No way of accidentally opening apps showing notifications. Non-stock, double tap any notif and it opens...some ROMs are worse than others, with a broken prox sensor allowing you to open notifs even with screen off in your pocket...making all sorts of pocket activity (calls/text/etc.). The stock way of 'Click + Swipe below' for me works great. Also the prox sensor works 100% on stock ROMs so 100% of time in your pocket it will never have pocket action.
-Lockscreen Pt2: Double-tap to wake/sleep. Works almost every single time. I love the dt2s on LS (some ROMS do have this but with the bad way of simply double-tap a notif to open [on non-stock roms] sometimes I'll double tap the notification instead of turning my screen back off...errr.)
-Data/Service. I find stock has a much better response to reception. In some dead-zone places (like a basement), I have very low service. With non-stock, I almost always lose service completely in same area. Then it doesn't come back until I airplane toggle/leave dead-zone. Stock seems to give better reception everywhere.
-Incom Call Pop-up: Very nice with the ability to simply hide the pop-up and let the phone keep ringing. I found on non-stock there is no way to hide the pop up (actually maybe by a swipe now I think about it, though does that decline the call?).
For me, those 4-5 things are the main points why I cannot use anything other than Stock. Also for me, stock works perfectly fine. No lag and everything just works (I clear recents and restart every couple of days). I try new builds of non-stock all the time, a day or 2 then realize I am missing my fav features above so then I go back. I recently found out the LG SmartWorld app allows you to theme some parts of the UI (icons, fonts, some colors, etc.)..combined with the Tweaksbox, you can do some good Stock changes.
I never really had a problem with lag/performance. I also always used the Imperium kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/kernel-imperium-kernel-g4-v1-0-t3282915 which seems to always do well for my phone. I also turn animations down to .5 in dev options, everytime I flash stock...makes it much quicker. I also know with stock, it's pretty much all optimized code for our phone...AOSP based miss a bunch of proprietary code which I think takes out some of the potential of this phone. Wish every company was like 1+, dev friendly.

1) proximity sensor works great in CM13 as well, it's just turned off by default
Also, lockscreen in cm13 is faster than stock (less touch/swipe) and nothing of what you described (like app opening in pocket or similar) can happen because you have proximity sensor AND you must input the passcode before doing anything.
2) Double tap to sleep and double tap to wake work perfectly fine both in stock and cm13, no difference to me.
3) Data/service signal is exactly the same, works great both with cm13 and stock. Maybe you had older modem/baseband when you tried cm?
4) If you get a call in cm13 and want to let it ring while using the phone you can simply press home button and it'll return to home screen like any other app (leaving the call in the background).
5) Stock roms are quite laggy (except for genisys that is decent and imperium which is very good) but CM13 is noticeably faster
6) Proprietary code has an impact almost only on camera (no manual mode and slightly lower "auto" camera quality) and audio.
This is not meant to criticize stock roms (I have used imperium for months and I still switch to it when i travel and want amazing manual pictures). I was just saying that not all of your points were very accurate.

Ok. Your phone is your phone. And passcode? When did I say I used one?
Everything you just 'defended' non-stock for, I disagree 100%. I made my points for a reason.
For my phone, what I said was accurate. If stock doesn't work for you like that then you got a defunct phone.

LOL, passcodes were invented for a reason
You look like a guy who doesn't pay much attention while reading other's posts so please stop posting here, we were trying to help the OP get *CORRECT* information to base his decision upon.
I said that both stock and CM13 work FLAWLESSLY on my phone and that CM13 does NOT have all those problems you invented. Thus, if your phone had those problems and mine does not, it is YOUR phone the "defunct" one, not mine (or you just made mistakes when flashing, which is more likely).
Let's not continue this discussion and focus on helping the OP please
Please this discussion need to be more detailed for app and settings that have this to roms cm and stock based with port features. in the end this is the reason for root or unlock our phone to get mor function and performance.

The biggest points for stock IMO:
One handed mode
Better camera quality and manual mode, the LG camera app really good takes fullest advantage of its hardware.
As for better sound quality, when I was using imperium Viper4android was included and CM includes AudioFX.
It might come down to better quality earphones.
CM 14 it´s out???

I have only run stock so far since there is no root for marshmallow which my phone had out of the box when I got it a month ago. It's an h812 Canadian variant which is good in one way... absolutely nothing preinstalled by my carrier (Koodo). A couple apps from LG, so almost no bloatware. I can't complain about the stock rom other than certain things that are annoying that aren't there on most custom AOSP or cm Roms (toggling sync on or off brings up a big read me that I have to agree to) and automatic prevention of hearing loss by always dropping my volume down.
I still prefer cm13 based like my moto x 2014 is running but I don't know if I'll ever have that option, or even want to since the camera is one of the few major improvements from my old phone.
---------- Post added at 05:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
Also to add...cm13 on my moto x and the other day helping my friend survey his property in the wilderness, very little reception and putting my sim card back in the moto x got me enough reception to run the tinder app, Facebook and YouTube which refused to load on the g4.
Not saying it's because of cm but the moto x was better despite having cm.
And the moto x is now my music player and the quality sounds better even on cm compared to stock g4 which gives me more reason to be able to try cm on the g4 since I don't use it for music as much right now anyway.
I like stock LG ui and with Genesis theme (UX 5) it's just marvellous
love stock for camera and stability. i would go AOSP if no more updates were avaiblefor my phone and the AOSP would make run better then i would.. iin my opinion AOSP for phones that arent no longer supported of end up in a rom that has bugs

Navigation buttons issue

Hello all. Just yesterday my XT1575 started acting up, the navigation buttons - all three, Back, Home, Recents - are not working anymore. Initially, I thought it was a minor thing that could be sorted out with a reboot. I rebooted yet no show, still not working. I went to the extreme and did a factory reset, still no show. I fastbooted a fresh install, no show. I installed custom recovery and flashed a ROM, no show. But I made one discovery - in TWRP recovery the navigation buttons work just fine, and they are almost at the same location the main ones are on the phone screen when booted. This made me more skeptic if it was a hardware issue. As it is now I'm thinking of getting another screen to replace this one, but want to be sure this will fix the issue before shelling out more than $50 for a replacement screen.
Please all suggestions and advice is very welcome. I need to fix this. I love this phone. Thanks all.
maybe try to go to settings, enable dev options and then enable show touches

I also agree. Doing this will allow you to see if any key presses being registered when pressed in the affected spot.
Fix(?)...
OK. I stumbled on a fix, maybe a permanent fix, maybe not... I rooted with BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip directly flashed in TWRP recovery, no need messing with extracting anything and all those long steps in a related rooting thread. Flashed Xposed (xposed-v86-sdk23-arm64.zip), installed XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk and after all this, installed Gravity module for Marshmallow. Go to Navigation bar tweaks in Gravity, activate master switch, enable navigation bar and scroll down and then increase the height and width of horizontal navigation bar to 124 or more (124 is the minimum for things to work again). And, voila... The navigation buttons work again. I hope this helps someone with this issue.

Hi im having the same issue. How did yours happen? Mine happened after dropping my phone. Also I enabled Show Touches in Dev Options and the pointer would only go to the top of the nav bar and not on it even though my finger is on the nav bar.
I had this exact same issue with my Moto X Style. I was not willing to spend anything on this 3 year old device. Looked around for solutions but none worked. Finally settled for a 3rd party app which floats on screen, but very annoying. Found a commnet on a Youtube video who asked to change the display setting and it worked.
Settings -> Display -> Display Size. Change it from Default to large, larger or largest. It worked for me when I set Large. Just wanted to share it here, so it might help someone desparate.

help finding a replacement Oreo TW rom please

Hi, I'm looking for a suggestion on a ROM to replace my current one.
I've used Superman after trying all the roms available about a year or so ago. Now it's EOL and I need an Oreo rom. I've spent the better part of two days installing a bunch and setting them up and finding issues. I have a handful of features that I really would prefer to have, and can't find anything that lines up. I don't think they're over the top features, just can't find them together.
Here's what I put together for what I'm looking for:
Musts:
Stable
Magisk, or can flash Magisk with MoRo Kernel
Dialer has "places" tab to search nearby things
Most Samsung apps removed, no upday, no skype
Removed brightness and volume warnings
Fingerprint unlock on first boot - can't find a flashable mod for this
Network up/down speed on status bar
Call recording
Status bar/Tiles/System UI/etc work with Galaxy Themes
Can install http://tekhd.com/detonator/ T-Mobile CSC for Wifi Calling and VoLTE
Would prefer but can probably find alternatives:
Has reboot to recovery in boot menu.
Long press back button to end - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
would be nice if it were built in, but can work around
Dual speakers - could just flash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/mod-dual-speaker-sound-mod-v4-0-oreo-8-0-t3787782
Ok without but nice to have:
Mobile data confirmations were also removed.
Selectable boot menu choices
Fingerprint from always on for unlocking when screen off
- is it really a battery drain? Superman had it and my battery was ok.
Swipe from right to pull down tiles
Only reason I want to stick with TW is the camera quality. Wish that didn't teather me to it.
Could anyone please suggest ROM's that have most of those things? Or alternative ways to get them that doesn't involve disassembling?
Thank you
