My friend has the mediatek version of the leeco s3 can anyone recommend a tutorial for unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom rom? I've looked on XDA but the only thread I found was one that took me to a site that doesn't load. So any help is greatly appreciated
To answer my own question and for anyone looking for help. To unlock the bootloader in fastboot mode type fastboot own unlock. It's the same command as for most phones. And the best custom Ron for the phone is this one

Hi. Can u tell me how u unlocked the bootloader. When I boot my phone into fastboot and connect it via USB to my windows 10 home 64 bit laptop, and type fastboot OEM unlock and press enter it says waiting for device on PC and then suddenly my phone restarts. If I don't connect my phone via USB to my PC and boot into fastboot, the fastboot window remains open but as soon as I connect it to my PC after 10-20 seconds or so the device randomly restarts. Can u plz help. Or can u tell me how to unlock bootloader. My phone is the le eco le S3 x626 helio x20 model.

I'm already made the steps requesting access to Unlock it to MIUI. I've downloaded the tool to Unlock, restart the phone to fastboot mode but the tool never get the button "Unlock" green.. its like the phone isn't recognized by the tool. But, with a command windows opened it get recognized by fastboot devices command.
I think i need to Unlock the bootloader to install a custom recovery and install others rom. I only need to install the MIUI- versión EU which have gapps and have deleted all chinesse things
Hope somebody can help

i know it is old thread but same pb.. device is MTK and i have never found a custom recovery for this device..did u find the custom recovery..? or anyone has customm recovery..?
Just bought this phone and attempted to upgrade from 7 to 8 and before so i done few things such as disabling some google sh*t. It upgraded and stuck on booting screen, vibrating sometimes. How do i handle this ? XiaoMiFlash says : flash tz error. Also there's no recovery and download mode.
If you have updated to MIUI 8.1.1.0 then I am afraid you have no other option left than flashing fastboot rom with deep flash cable using test point method presuming you have locked BL. For more info visit http://en.miui.com/thread-310325-1-1.html
But if you are still on MIUI 7 then you can flash using Mi flashtool in EDL mode.
For entering edl mode press volume + and volume - button simultaneously( test mode) and after plugging in USB cable with PC enter in windows CMD:

. After that proceed with flashing using flash tool

you cant disable Music, Youtube, Chrome,blah blah,... but dont disable Google, it will cause bootloop.
i figured this out after 15 bootloops lol
What ?! What the is deep flash cable ?! I don't have one ! Maybe i should exchange my Redmi 3s in shop next monday. It's stuck at mi logo and 3 circles, vibrating frequently...
UPDATE : Phone enters some screen where shows phone and cable and link to Mi Pc Suite. I click recovery flash option, but i says that phone is up to date. When i click recovery, nothing happens. How do i force flash ? Maybe i will flash a recovery rom using this mode, it's visible via adb.

Phone won't enter EDL mode ! Just Mi logo and nothing else...

I have given you the link about how to make deep flash cable by yourself. Xiaomi has locked EDL mode post MIUI 8.0.3.0. So you wont be able to flash normally in EDL or Emergency Download mode. Now you are in bootloop so either you can unlock your bootloader and flash in fastboot mode, in this case you have to wait bit longer or you can make a deep flash cable and flash in the mode you have mentioned i.e MI logo with PC suite sign.

Trying to do what should be simple - install TWRP , then omnirom.
Have a new le pro 3, running stock firmware.
have enabled usb debugging, enabled oem unlock.
I can see the le pro 3 in adb devices. I then reboot (adb reboot bootlader).
Phone goes into fastboot. But fastboot devices, or any other command cant see the phone in fastboot mode..
Appreciate any help.. I'm at a loss. Thanks!
Even if ADB show your empty list, when you're at bootloader you can flash TWRP... Look my thread about brick.
Do it with flashing guide... You should also unlock in bootloader mode. And check the status.
For anyone that cares - on a Macbook pro retaina (with windows 10 as VM) - I could only see phone in adb, not fastboot.
installed fastboot for OSX, and ditched the virtual machine, and voila.
I have recently acquired this x950. We have been able to verify that your bootloader is unlocked, on the other hand in the development of the x850 we have found many files of this x950 which has encouraged us to try its development. A twrp with failures has already been tested. .
How to exit 9008 Mode.
After unlocking the bootloader if we try to restart the boot verification is activated and the phone does not start.
To solve this we need to close the bootloader again.
First we will press the three buttons for one minute.
We release them and press v- and on to enter fastboot mode.
On fastboot mode we closed the bootloader with.fastboot oem lock-go.
After this we can reboot normally.
My Mi 9T is stuck in "this device is destoryed" mode and I cannot access recovery

What u did that cause this?
Fastboot and miflash?
if the device has locked bootloader you have no way other than opening up thhe back glass and putting it on edl mode

Ok thanks I will send it in to a shop where someone can do that
Connect phone to pc, start adb on pc...put phone in fastboot mode ( press volume - and power ) , type in adb
fastboot continue
After command, phone will reboot and boot system.
After that , you add mi acc and start unlock process.
If you reboot phone, you need to do this step again.
When you unlock bootloader, flash official rom or xiaomi.eu...
You could flash official xiaomi fastboot rom with Miflash tool: this flash recovery and MIUI also with BL locked.
Then you'll use miunlock tool to unlock bootloader
