LG v20 H910, How to remove carrier name in statusbar? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hi
I tried searching on xda if there is existing query like this but there wasn't that is why i created a new thread.
I have bought an LG v20 H910 unlocked in Pakistan with internal 64gb memory and on android 7.0 (not sure if rooted because i am not tech savvy, i just use stock rom). The device is unlocked and works with the sim that i put in but there is a branding "Pakistan telecommunication network" in the lock screen as well as on home screen taskbar when the sim is inserted. I tried changing the sim (on a different network) but it didn't resolve. I also tried finding the option in settings menu to hide operator name in the taskbar but there is no such option.
The point is, it is taking a lot of space on taskbar which is almost half of it and blocks the view for notifications. Also, it is quite annoying to see it. If it were a logo i would have ignored it but since it is taking half of status bar that is why i am annoyed and want it to be removed/hidden.
Please help me with this. I really love this phone but this thing is turning me off from using it. I have put my sim in old phone and using it till i find some solution for resolving it.
For reference i have attached the screenshots.

Same problem with "Telephonica 02 UK Limited" taking up about a third of the status bar.
Did you find a solution in the end?

Guess it depends on the carrier. I'm in Canada with "Videotron" and it's nowhere to be seen in the status bar...

Well not as of yet. I have found some workarounds but i don't know which one might work.
1. first option is to install system UI tuner from play store, granting adb permissions and see if the app opens any settings for hiding the carrier name.
2. flashing it with some other rom.
3. rooting it and then installing custom rom.
i have tried the 1st option so far and there is no such option in system ui tuner to hide the carrier name. I am afraid of doing the rest of other options because i am not a techy person and i dont want to end up with a bricked phone.

Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Netwok -> Ufone ? @awaisagha can you share with me your modem-dump of h-910, My H910 shows only ufone or the carrier i am using name, but my modem has got no carrier data

Vodafone meny and popup windows

Not sure if this is related to something that Vodafone in Sweden (nowdays Telenor) has implemented. Today I changed my old GSM SIM card to a new card that works with USMT. No issues the first 3-4 hours. Then I started to get popup windows now and then that has a header "Vodafone" and I can just close it. There seems to be no logic to when this popup occurs and how often. Its very annoying. Checked the "program" folder and I notice a new app called "Vodafone meny" there. My phone is bought without any locks or relation to Vodafone(Telenor).
My first question is obviosly if this is an FAQ and something that can be removed?
My second thing is that how they can install stuff on my mobile without my approval. This is obvisoly a question about privacy and I see this as a rootkit!!! Extremely annoying and a good reason to change from Vodafone to something else...
Many thanks!

[Q] Carrier doesn't appear

Just a (stupid) question.
I bought Atrix ATT and I have it unlocked but the name of the carrier in Swiss does not display.
I tried all the anothers networks and they appear any ideas?
Thanks
Try flashing a different radio with rsd lite
wow. alot of people try to get their carrier to disappear.
Sometimes its really helpful to have it shown, like me for instance, I travel back and forth between two countries and I need to know which carrier I'm on.
I know there is a roaming indicator, but its not near as visible as a carrier name.
So I too like to know a way of enabling that feature. Oh by the way, the suggested radio change didn't work for me, no carrier name showed up.

I am thinking two possible problems:
1) An xml file that does not have the carrier name in it (thinking apns.xml)
2) The settings.db (or some .db file in any case) - look up the AT&T wireless hotspot fix on which file and how to edit. You may be lacking your carrier's info here.

I don't think that's the problem because when I roam into att which is my Atrix original carrier it still don't show the name.
I'm thinking that may be due to my very old sim card.
Or a combination of both.

[Q] Access Regional Carrier Menu

I know with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you have a regional carrier menu which can be accessed using a key sequence on the dial pad. When accessed, a list will be displayed showing all the carriers which the phone supports using their 3 digit abbreviation. When you select a specific carrier and click reboot, the device will do a factory reset using the specific carrier settings you selected. I know the S4 will have the same regional menu but I'm curious as to whether or not I can access this through a dial pad sequence and if so, what the sequence would be.
Thanks in advance for any help which could be provided!
RESOLVED
Unlike the Note 3, the CSC (Consumer Software Customization) otherwise known as the Regional Carrier menu is a hidden menu within the Samsung Device model lineup. This menu will show a listing of scripts in the phone, depicted by a 3 letter code and specific to the carriers which can be preloaded on your device. If your device is unlocked and you wish to use it with one of the specified carriers, you can insert your carrier specific SIM, access this menu and "INSTALL" the specific configured script for that carrier. The question is always asked... "What is the benefit?".
Answer: With smartphones, they are mini computers and not just your typical "telephone". As such, you have multiple settings which vary among carriers. As such, by configuring your device to be carrier specific, it will modify specific settings which are proprietary to that specific carrier. As an example, it will modify the APN details, update your network settings to reflect access to specific modems such as 3G, 4G, HSPA+ and LTE and will also brand the device with specific apps which have been preloaded and configured for that specific carrier such as a "My Account" app. These are just some of the things to name a few which implementation of the proper CSC settings will provide.
Samsung realized that tech savvy people have figured out how to access these menus and this has resulted in fixes implemented in OTA updates to hinder people from being able to do this. As such, you cannot use the typical dialpad entry to gain access to the menu but do have the ability through ROOTING your device. Unfortunately, a ROOT will most likely "void" your warranty so it's at the discretion of the "end user" whether or not the warranty is important.
Thank you to all who assisted and happy trails!

Can you please stop spamming yourself lol.
LOL... Well there is an option to Edit/Delete and since I can not "delete" my post, I mine as well indicate it has been resolved and provide the underlying solution.

What has been resolved?.I understand what you were after as in your 1st post; but your 2nd post indicates you can get the dialler menu if you are rooted.
Since I am rooted......care to tell me the code for me to test then?.
It doesnt matter if you cant, as when I insert a sim, a box normally opens up for me to select which network I want, which then triggers inbuilt settings (apn etc)......and the phone works.
Many people do not wish to "root" their device thus "voiding" the warranty. As an alternative, they can unlock their device and dependent on their OS, they can access the "CSC Menu" through *#272*[IMEI]# Should their "new" carrier be in the default list of supporting scripts installed on the phone by the manufacturer, they can install the script which will "brand" the phone to the new carrier/SIM complete with all the required settings for that carrier. Doing this will BRAND their phone to the new carrier settings without having to root and install a carrier specific ROM etc...
Is this beneficial for you specifically? Absolutely not as you have rooted your device but many on here looking for information find threads which talk partially about something and then you see a posts claiming it's been resolved with no further detail. If I solve something on my own and feel it would benefit some, not all, I may as well post my findings so if someone encounters the same problem, they can access a thread which provides a solution instead of simply saying "FIXED".
You said it best by "It doesnt matter if you cant, as when I insert a sim"... Yes, when you insert a SIM on your rooted device you have access to everything you need. That does not help someone whom does not wish to "root" their device. Maybe I'm reading into matters too much but you seem upset about my posts That being said, ignore them. I'm not bolstering my post count but if I resolve something, I may as well post it since I cannot officially delete my thread but only "edit" it. By posting it's resolved and providing details as to how, this will alleviate someone wasting their time by providing an answer while helping those who may possibly encounter the same situation.
Cheers!

No.You state in post 2 that you can acess the menu if I am rooted.....so explain how its done since I am rooted.
Also the box that opens up happens when a sim is inserted on all the unrooted samsung phones Ive had, which then triggers carrier settings etc.
So to recap, you did not answer how to get into that menu, and I cant even see how anyone would need to anyhow.
That is all
You are reading way too much into the post and it's asinine. I asked a question, received some feedback via PM and resolved my issue. As quoted from my "Post #2": "As such, you cannot use the typical dialpad entry to gain access to the menu but do have the ability through ROOTING your device." -- I am simply indicating the dial pad entry cannot be used unless you have original firmware which has not been updated. If updated, you can ROOT which allows you to brand your device using alternative methods. Reading way too much into everything...
ROOTING = You can customize your device using many methods and as per your post: "I cant even see how anyone would need to anyhow" is correct for those who are rooting.
*#272*[IMEI]# = You can customize your device to a specific carrier should that carrier be listed in the pre-installed scripts. Your device must be unlocked but this method will not void your warranty by installing a carrier ROM already pre-configured on the device.
I may also add that you're correct! If unlocking a device and not rooting, once you input a non-carrier SIM, you will be prompted for a code but the settings do not always change. Sometimes APN settings are incorrect and there is manual editing required. The suggestion I made regarding the CSC menu will allow you to configure the device to the new carrier ROM without rooting. This will also "customize" the device to that specific carrier so unlike simply features such as APN etc... being changed, you will also have pre-defined apps installed specific to that carrier such as "My Account" and other specific apps you would not obtain by simply unlocking.
I'll make it clear that you ARE RIGHT! Let's leave it at that but for those who do not read so deep into my posts, I find many of them have been helpful as have yours otherwise we would not have received the thanks we have.
Have a great one!

Samsung Galaxy Tab A guest mode?!?

Hi, basically the problem is when I go to settings there is no option called "users". when I swipe down there is no user avatar. by the way android lollipop is the software version. I was watching a review on YouTube, there they had the option. but I don't. anyone knows why?
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201506/20150620020245043/GEN_SM-T550_Galaxy-TAB_A_ENG_UM_LL_OC5_R2_AC.pdf - Page 66 describes how to set up another User account. Maybe after that it will give you options in the Settings? Not sure, don't have access to one of these tabs to play with.
I checked it out. It says go to settings > users.
my problem is that option does not exist. but thanks anyway
Might be something the carrier or region where you got the tablet doesn't support. No idea why, but there are carriers here that asks the manufacturers to not enable some options, such as the Download Booster on Galaxy phones. Either that, or maybe another updated version of the software enables it. You might look into custom roms based off of less restricted software.
I purchased an unlocked version. No carriers
The other way to do it is from the quick settings pull down, touch the profile pic (might be the standard person-head icon)
when I pull it down there is no user avatar (profile pic) nothing at all
What's the Build Number of the software?
Lollipop 5.0.2. The manual says the option of USERS in under the device tab in settings. but I don't have it.
Here is a screenshot:
http://i57.tinypic.com/9pur5w.png
5.0.2 is the android version, not the Build Number of the software.
oh sorry. The Build Number is: LRX22G.P555XXU1AOD9
I'd try to update to the newest version available, just posted at the beginning of the month:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-P555/
One of the ones that ends in OH2 that corresponds to the region you are in.
Thank you. I will try that and let you know what happens.
anyone found way to bring back multiuser option ? (im on H2)

Bugs in lineage os for Moto g4 athene

I recently installed lineage os on my Moto g4 athene device and also installed gappa s super zip. I have encountered some problems I gonna mention in here
1. In status bar there is no network icon for each network if you have two Sims and if you want to change data connection from one sim to another you have to go into settings only there is no short cut for it in status bar and also each sim setting cannot be accessed directly from status bar . This problem cannot be solved by third party status bar modding apps I tried literally everything.
2. On top bar volte symbol not shows up and LTE symbol shows up but font is very small even we cannot sure that we are connected to internet or not . In stock from below LTE symbol there is two arrows shows internet connection.for non data sim it does not show on which network it is like 3g or 2g by showing symbol H or E .this is also cannot be repaired by third party apps.
3.motorola camera app keep on crashing . I addicted to Moto camera app I think it is very good for this phone but in this lineage ROM only Google camera App works .
4.i downloaded Moto explorer and removed Google's native file explorer . But now I am facing error like there is no application that can give permission to give access to the memory card on Moto explorer.
5.while in roaming Google apps cannot be downloaded from play store .
So please fix them in next update . Don't say use third party apps . I used almost every apps . I think it's good if you fix these problems natively .

Please do some research before starting a new thread for things already discussed. Use lineage oms or RR to customize status bar. And 3-5 you can find your answers by searching, while native Motorola apps will ever cause problems when ported. LineageOS has nothing to do with manufacturers native apps.
I'll answer what I can, hoping others will jump in with suggestions (or as strongst has suggested, see what you can find in your own research )
2.The unofficial Lineage OS OMS ROM has VoLTE in the notification bar and also network traffic indicators (not as small as on stock, but still can be enabled). Still shows LTE and H+/H in lieu of 4G and 3G.
3. Here are some edits you may have to perform to get Moto camera working (https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/how-to-motomotorola-camera-official-t3551851). As I understand it, they change the focussing methods. You may also wish to try flashing the Nougat Moto camera from here, which is newer than the one in the Play Store. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/themes/stock-camera-t3540473
4.Hmm, that's odd - as in the FAQ Moto Explorer should work. Your SD card is formatted from your device (rather than on a PC or other device)?
5. This is not a solvable fault with Lineage OS - this is a 'feature' introduced by Google in the Nougat update, presumably to prevent users using all their data allowance whilst on holiday (where data charges can be very expensive, especially if you were to be downloading constantly on the Play Store). I understand that some carriers in India and possibly elsewhere use roaming, the only workaround is moving to a non-roaming network or use Wi-Fi to update.
On a side note, I got the impression from your post you may be happier on the stock ROM.
