How to convert kdz rom to zip rom

Hi, Can anyone tell me how to convert kdz rom to zip ROM?

Firstly u need to extract KDZ file with LGExtract. It will extract cab file and dz file within. Then u needs to extract boot.img and system.img with DZDecrypt, but to get boot.img u need to use 0.5 version. For system.img use 1.0 version. If u have that 2 files, download dsixda kitchen and follow what screen says

please help me! I extracted .kdz to .cab. But i can't extract to .dz file with 7zip. Error:Can not open file as archive.
How to fjx it?

Sry, you meant you can't extract cabinet file? Remove cab file integration in 7zip and it will open in windows explorer.

Yes. I have done so, but I still do not unzip the file. cab. I have tried the following in cmd:
D: \ LG \ lgextract-KDZ F180K20K_00.kdz
after it is completed, I get the file F180K20K_00.cab
Next, I used the command:
D: \ LG \ 7z x (or e) F180K20K_00.cab
and I get the error message: Error: Can not open file as archive
After all, I've tried many versions and 7z LGExtract but they all failed. So what is the reason? Does windows version?

I can't extract file .cab and I tried UpTestEX.exe to extract the file .kdz. After i have 2file .dz and .dll. Next, I used DZDecrypt to extract .dz file but display:

v0.2? you're using old version, it's for older phone. it has been stated to use v1.0 so grab it from dev section

I've read that thread before. But I can not unzip the file. Cab with 7zip or winrar.
In case 2, used to extract UpTestEX.exe. KDZ ->. dz, I can not unzip it. 2 dz by DZextract and DZDecrypt tool.
The reason is that the OS version or ROM version?

Sorry, I just recently see that you're trying to extract F180 (Optimus G)'s firmware. These methods are only for first generation of L series (L3, L5, L7). It certainly won't work on newer phones. (Yes, although the format is still kdz, the extracting method will differ between devices).

No. You don't use anyone ROM in computer. You only can mod, cook it. Demo just on the phone. The dev-app can use Android Studio/eclipse.

UPDATE:
I found a way how to do it.
I used sgs4ext4fs by Chainfire to modify system.img and after that Ext2explore to extract files from modified system.img .
Also if anyone is interested how to extract hidden.img, first you need to modify it with sgs4ext4fs and after that use sgs2toext4. Then you can open modified hidden.img with ext4_unpacker and extract files from it.

Maybe you could repack it with root files to get root. There is a how to video on you tube. I would do it, but my linux machine is down.

Chainfire needs recovery.img to make cf autoroot for us. Are u able to extract the recovery.img for the q0.5 as well as 8.4 so I can post it in the cf auto root thread so we can get root?

bare with me on that one since I tried too many different options, following worked for me - required files attached here (I ziped, so hopefully XDA did not blocked it)
This is for Windows PC:
1. Download sgs4ext4fs.exe, and download firmware, unzip firmware up until you see system.img.
2. Open command prompt (on windows, click start, type cmd) where system.img, and type
sgs4ext4fs --trim system.img systemt.img
........ > you will see bunch of ............., but wait until it finishes.
3. Once it finishes it creates systemt.img, get sgs2toext4.jar (save it to the same folder), and open sgs2toext4.jar, and drag and drop newly created systemt.img to the window (sgs2toext4.jar's window), wait until it finishes, when it finishes it will create systemt.ext4.img
4. Now last step, download ext2explore.exe, and open it, and go to file --> open image and pick systemt.ext4.img, it will show the img file there (on both side of window), on the left side, select the systemt.ext4.img (should be showing full path), right click your mouse, and select save to your desktop or any other folder location you pick.
Obviously, next step will be odexing everything:laugh:

Newer threads/tutorials on making system.img to zip

Trying to flash CopperheadOS with multirom on N6P.
But I can't flash the image in TWRP so I'm trying create a flashable zip.
But problem is all the guides and tutorial are very outdated (with most of them mentioning "Android Kitchen")
Where should I go to find help for this?

That way doesn't work because I use multirom, it has a modified TWRP (it's still the latest version doh)

In what I have been able to find there was a META-INF folder that was a part of the back-ups now all I see from my stock backup is .win files, not tar.md5
Now I can guess that the naming is still similar so can you compress the system.ex4 files and have the same process with a file format change.

Nougat Vendor.img

Hey all, long story short I need to find to the Nougat vendor.img. The link to it from the debloated ROM page appears to be down, so if anyone else has a link to the .IMG file that would be helpful. In the WETA ROM thread, the dev said you go extract it from the .zip but I have no idea where it is/how to flash it in fastboot if it's not a .IMG file. Thanks.

If the file icon looks like a page with a cd/dvd on it, that is an .img file. Or just right click and look at the properties.

In the zip, the vendor file has a .new.dat extension. Would I change that to .img and flash it in fastboot? Or would that be a mistake?

if the dev says the vendor.img file is included it should be in there, your have to dig through the compressed folder to find it, its usually named vendor.img you might have extensions hidden, or if you have a known .img file elsewhere it will likely have the same icon next to it in the file tree.
you can just extract it and rename the file with a straight ".IMG" prefix and flash that from your ADB folder or using your chosen tool

So that didn't work (phone wouldn't boot past splash screen) but I did flash this .img file https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732236715 and it worked

What issue were you having that you needed the vendor image, if you mind me asking?
Was your phone stuck in the splash screen loop?

I had an old version of TWRP (wasn't aware that there was one that worked with Nougat) and needed to flash an old vendor to get it to work, then a newer one to get my phone to boot. I flash the DP5 vendor and the phone booted just fine, but there was a warning message and I figured it would be better to get the updated vendor.

Unroot & Re-pack firmware?

I had 50pc japan version of s5(sc-04f), installed rom 'G900F.STOCK.FOR.SCL23.FULL.MINHQUAN'. The downside of this rom is that its pre-rooted. I managed to unroot it by goin in supersu & click 'full-unroot'. But i had multiple devices to flash, so is there a way for me to re-pack this firmware again after i unroot it? So that i could flash it to my other devices without root.

Generally, if it's 6.0.1 and rooted systemlessly, you need to replace boot.img with a stock one and remove SuperSU app from system.img.
This ROM intended to be flashed from TWRP, so it's an ext4 image.
You can mount it to a linux system on your PC and remove anything you want.

Ok, here' a simpler way:
1. Make changes on one phone.
2. Make a TWRP backup of boot and system partitions.
3. Restore this backup on other phones. They must have TWRP installed, a 6.0.1 bootloader and modem.
You'll have to rename backup's folder path and to wipe cache/data/system before restore.

Ok, I've managed to download that ROM at last.
The things look even simpler.
To prepare an "unrooted" ROM:
1. Download the zip form this post and unpack updater-script somewhere.
2. Make a copy of V3.G900F.STOCK.FOR.SCL23.FULL.MINHQUAN.zip, open it with Windows Explorer and replace V3.G900F.STOCK.FOR.SCL23.FULL.MINHQUAN.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script with the file you've unpacked from the attachment.
3. Try to flash ans see if it's what you need.

thx so much, already passed all units to the buyer. ill try that on next batch restock, may iknow if there's a way to get the service menu shortcode *#0*# to work again? This rom doesn't has the service menu.

I've replaced the updater-script in the zip file, but supersu is still there
