Got my G4c today, but really need root for security tracking software and link2SD since space is very small!
Hope someone will find a solution.
So its the low-end/affordable G series for the year? I'm sure the method will be identical.

I've asked this before but from what people have told me if it's a differently designed phone. It cant be rooted the same way. Though they might not know what their talking about so if anyones willing to try it out with theirs and tell us if it works here's a guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/discussion-unlock-root-situations-please-t3122752
They are pretty identical, but one is an MTK, the G4c is a snapdragon 401.I bought the G4 to see if it's really more powerfull even if a lot of reviews says that 1GB of ram is not enaught to make a fast experience like a G4, but I don't trust MTK so much (and I knew that the MTK model has line problem), plus this is LTE.
Actually I bought it for the cameras, if a root won't be out soon I'll send it back and I'll go for the MTK one.
Sorry for the OT, but I'm pretty tired of the very low quality of my S3 Neo cameras, I'll do some test tomorrow, but even tonight I had some shameful camera lags with the S3 neo... :-/
Looks like I'm the only one with that phone...actually I'm waiting for root to test it, but if the LG backup app will do a good job maybe I will try it this week.
The Huge problem is that I like to "clone" my phones apps with titanium and have them all even in the secondary phone, and I can't do that there since no root.
I just will check cameras and lagginess I have a month to send it back to amazon, if no solution will be found I'll switch to the cheaper MTK one even if I HATE mtk...
Interested
Recently bought a LG G4c (H525n) phone. I'm interested in achieving root so any info is thankful

It's scam, to get the app you must compile a questionary and the app is scam otherwise somebody would alredy have been linked it!
we are still stuck, maybe because it's just an european version? I bought it on german amazon, if somebody would tell me that cameras are identical I would send it back and get the cheaper one instead, but actually I don't trust MTK, specially for signal and GPS
Actually we can survive unrooting, for adaware and cerberus, but the internal memory is 3GB and I can'r even restore the 4,6GB backup made from lg 4G since the card can be formatted only with FAT32 :-/
And the worts part is that LG backup is a SINGLE FILE!!!! I will try with other apps, I use it a secondary phone to take so nice selfie (s3neo both cameras are crap....) so if someone know ow to fit a 4,6GB gile int he fat32 let me know.
I already googled, but no answers: it's an european model and looks like the great coocker are from USA or asia Have a nice holiay!

I have questions about Samsung Galaxy J series, specifically the J3 Virgin Mobile

I have a few questions for anyone familiar with the Samsung Galaxy J series, specifically the J3. I have virgin mobile, and after a long time suffering with their HTC Desire 510, I want to upgrade, and not wanting to spend $400 on a galaxy S5 , the J3 seems the next best phone to get. However, as I've grown used to having a rooted phone and customizing my phone as much as I want, etc, I want to make sure my next phone can be rooted, and has support for custom ROM's, etc.
The main thing that could help me with my decision would be some guidance as to whether other versions, the J2, J5, J7, etc, that are present here would be potentially compatible with the J3, or if I'm out of luck and should consider other options if rooting is a necessity for me.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Anyone?
I'm sure you can root it.
I'm using j5 and it took me like 15 minutes of reading and about an hour /including downloading and setting up all the things /for the root.
I just want to say that you would need to be prepared to wait until someone make a custom Rom for it.

Thats what I was thinking. I figure that rooting it (hopefully) is similar to the other J series. As long as its rooted, wouldn't I be able to (even w/o custom rom) debloat/customize/etc it with various root tools, apps2sd, etc? Or are those dependent on having a custom rom? On the only phone I've rooted so far (htc desire 510) I didn't really spend any time with stock rom when I rooted, instead immediately flashing Nonsense rom, so I'm not sure what limitations keeping stock rom comes with when rooted.
Thank you for the reply! It gives me a bit of hope at least.
I'm not really familiar with the device. As I said before I have a j5. According to the applications that you mentioned I think that it would be possible to get and install them. But rooting isn't quantum mechanics. There are some apps that you could easily install on almost any device and get the root privileges. For example kingroot I am sure you can find others. I usually root my devices trough pc.I recommend you to take some time before jumping on the first option that comes up as a possible solution.
According to changing the stock Rom. I don't known how developed is that treat so.. Again read here and there about it.
GL!
Let me know if I helped by hitting the thumb up
I dont think permanent root is going to be possible until a working twrp is made so that you can flash supersu. I know that sux, I wanted to get one for my wife because she broke the screen on her vm s3. But without root and the ability to get unlimited hotspot... nope. I asked a dev ( lrs121) if he would port twrp to it. He said he would try if I had the phone and could get him the necessary files from it. Look in the sprint s3 section under twrp for virgin and boost s3. He is a great dev.
Actually far as I can say there are 2 twrp options. you just have to read more

Read where? Could you be a little more vague?
I am by no means a noob, and when I answer someone, I generally throw in a link.
But thanks for letting me know it exists.
Is it another phones twrp that works? Any hints at all?

Sorry i was on the phone while traveling. I`ve mistaken that it was about the j5 ( like mine device) and for that especially i had tried 2 working options up to now for twrp. but i`m pretty sure you can find tutorials or you can even simply DL the twrp /for example/ 3 install it as an apk and than you if it stuck just would need to DL odin for your PC and than strictly follow the steps / install /unzip odin, connect device , go into DL mode and flash it with the stock ROM which you can find in sammobile /.com i guess/ ?
GL and hit thanks if i helped!

Need help w/ Samsung G900V Galaxy S5 *bootloader/rooting*

I've been a HTC phone person for a while and thinking of switching to a S5 my only problem is I hear the bootloader is locked on VZW Phones?
Now see I'm buying a NEW unlocked G900V Samsung S5 off ebay and gonna trim my sim from my current phone to fit in it, but before I do this I want to unlock the bootloader and then root.
I dont have the phone yet, but its sold as brand new, and I dont have the model, cid, android version, any sort of info until I have the device in my hands.
I watched a few videos saying its easy to unlock the bootloader and root and most people are using touch philz bootloader, and I've read a lot on there saying there is not bootloader access on this device and only a safestrap recovery option
someone said to use geohots towelroot but then someone said he works for google now and its not supported anymore after june 2014 or some ****?
also I seen this video showing me a pretty quick method to unlock the bootloader/root
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKrFxuA5apg
but noticed the video and site was posted before june so Idk if that method still works or not?
any one in this thread know whats the best method to go for and what to do on what works and what I can do with this device or not?
EDIT: found this saying the bootload has been unlocked http://www.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5-bootloader-has-been-unlocked/ but still cant find any info on how to do this been searching for 2 hours but also on 2 hours of sleep so idk any help would be obliged
You'll need to find out the CID of the device
Ask the seller to check for you.
If it starts with 11 then you cannot unlock the bootloader. If it starts with 15 then you can unlock it.
Ok I'll try and ask but how do you even find out the CID of the device in case they ask, because I am pretty tech savvy and I don't even know. Samsung phones and CID numbers are all new to me.
I think I read someone where that the CID number changes if u use root on a post somewhere am I wrong ?
anyways if its not a 15 the phones pretty much worthless?
Bump: I asked the sellers to look for me and they always tell me they can not download any apps to the phone...Where do we find this in the settings without downloading anything how can I tell if it's a genuine Samsung chip quickly and easy or not
AFAIK I think the only way is to use an app like EMMC Brickbug or to pull it via adb. There isn't a way to tell otherwise.

Questions related to ASUS devices

Hi devs, i like to ask some questions about the model Asus X00DDA:
1. Im a bit confused in this model, it has this X00DDA but when i search it in google, it shows the model ZC**** something like that. Can someone would lighten this up.
2. Since idk what are the specs, even in the box it is not detailed, for example idk what kindof chipset this device has because that is required for developing for this model.
3. I know that this is a dumb question but is this thing's bootloader is unlockable, if YES then we'll go but if it's a NO then i guess i stick with a stock Nougat instead.
Thanks, i hope someone will reply
Each device has two model numbers.
Specs: http://gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_3_max_zc553kl-8425.php
And the bootloader is not unlockable.

Answers:
1) There are 2 model numbers for a device (eg: ZC553KL= X00DDA)
2) Snapdragon 430
3) The bootloader is not unlockable ( You can request ASUS to release Unlock Bootloader Tool app on ZenTalk)

Xt1684 xt1685 uk

Hi guys and gals
Any information on functionality of this model after unlocking bootloader, flashing TWRP and choice of rom.
Why I posted was to check that whoever reads this post can be assured of at least getting the same experience of the stock OS, but with all the goodies that come with Oreo, preferably 64bit version.
One thing I have noticed is that download links tend to have a specific model ie pixel experience shows xt1686 on androidfilehost.
So any information regarding UK only model can be kept in one place, if anyone has spent any time reading the G5plus forums its a right mess between the different models, and the same questions and answers are going around again and again, so for us if having one Country specific post can help any confusion, great in my book.
Any non UK owners, please do not clutter up this thread, suggest you create your own model/country specific new post.
Regards
Ray
I've only just got my xt1685, so haven't rooted yet.
I want to use android pay so need to read up on that first.
I've also have a G3 and I prosume this will be the same and any regnal version for a G5 plus will work.
